二、 口译 能 力 的 构 成
口译 是一种 特殊而复 杂的 心智 活动 , 求 复杂 的认 要 知运 作和过 硬的领域 特殊技 能 (o a — pc c kl 。 dm i s i is n e f s l) i
目前 , 内外 翻译 界 普 遍 认 为 口译 能 力 是 由一 系 列 相 国 关 联的 单项 成 分所 构成 , 是 对 于 口译 能 力 是 由哪 些 但 成分 构成 , 内学 者 还 没 有 达 成 一 致 意 见 , 国 比如 : 菁 陈 认为, 口译 能力 包括 三个 部 分 : 识 能力 、 能 能力 、 知 技 心 理 能力 。 伟合认 为 ,译 员 的知识 结 构 由 ‘ u仲 “ 双语 知 识 版块 、 百科 知识 版块 和 口译 技 能版块 ’ 组成 ” 王斌 华 。 认为, 口译 能 力包 括 智 力 性 因素 模 块 和 非 智 力 性 因素 模块, 前者 包 括语 言 能力 , 识 储 备 和 口译 技 能 , 者 知 后 包 括心 理素 质 、 身体 素质 和职业 素质 。 在 参照 这些 分 类 的 基 础 上 , 者 提 出 口译 初 学 者 笔 的 口译 能力 的三 个 组 成 成 分 : 口译技 能 、 言 能 力 ( 语 即 双 语交 际能 力 ) 自主学 习能 力 , 确 定 了 口译 能力 构 和 在 成 成分 的基 础 上 , 于英 语 专业 本 科 阶段 口译 教 学 的 由 原则是 以“ 技能训练为主线 , 结合各类主题” 的交替传 译 教学 , 因此 , 认为 , 口译能 力 的 三个 成 分 中 , 笔者 在 口 译 技 能是核 心 和基 础 , 言 能力 ( 语 即双 语 交 际 能力 ) 和 自主学 习能 力为必 备 条件 。笔者 将 以 贵州 大学英 语 专 业 本科 口译 教 学 为 例 , 口译 初 学 者 的 口译 能力 的培 对

大学英语翻译教育论文1大学英语翻译教学的现状1.1英语翻译教学地位薄弱我国大学英语翻译教学在整体大学英语教学中处于弱势,很多学生由于从未接受过翻译理论和技巧的指导,在翻译实践中出现了较多的问题和语言障碍。

从指导思想上来说,大学英语教学大纲强调阅读能力是大部分大学生今后工作所需要的主要语言技能,在大学英语教学中要始终注重阅读能力的培养。

由此可见,大学英语的指导思想在对学生翻译能力的培养上并未给予足够重视,"译"处于一种被忽视的地位。

在课程设置上,翻译教学在整个外语教学中基本上是作为补充课程来讲授的,没有正式开设翻译课程。

《大纲》规定基础阶段四个学期的英语课均为必修课。

英语写作、翻译技巧、英语口译等为选修课,安排在四个学期基础英语课程后。

但由于我国绝大部分高校的教学设备、师资力量的不足,在基础阶段之后,很少有学校能够开出面向所有学生的应用技能选修课。

加上近几年的扩大招生,师资紧缺情况更为严重,能够开选修课的,不过寥寥几门,只是起了点缀门面的作用,在某些大学中造成了这样一种尴尬局面:上课的学生不感兴趣,感兴趣的学生没有机会上课。

1.2翻译教材缺乏质量在教材方面,大学翻译教学缺乏整体的规划设计,缺乏高质量的教材,缺少大量合格的教师,也缺少研究机构。

目前公共外语采用的大学英语教材,都没有系统全面介绍翻译知识、翻译技巧的独立单元,大多只是在课后练习中有一些汉译英单句练习或零星穿插的英译汉练习。

这些翻译实际上是一种造句练习,目的是使学生能够熟练运用课文中的句型和词汇,不能算是严格意义上的翻译。

同时,如果过分强调这样的翻译练习,会使学生误以为只能有一种译文,语言只有一种表达方式,从而形成死译、硬译的毛病。

近年来尽管出现了不少翻译教材,但由于种种原因,大部分教师仍以旧的翻译教材为主,自己另外增加一些教师感兴趣或熟悉的内容,设计一些相关的练习,教学安排具有较大的随意性和主观倾向,教学效果不理想。

“口音”是一种受地理和社会环境影响的习惯发音方式,口音的产生,有时是由于学习者直接将母语的发音规则应用到了英语中,或是用母语的语音语调来说英语。

另一类问题就是在教学的过程中太过于书面化缺少实践的锻炼,同时在人才的考核方面也存在很多缺陷,例如考核的标准太过于单一缺少综合性的体现。

这些都是目前所存在的一些问题,针对这些问题我们提出了一些相对应的措施:首先是加强职业观念的培养,要能够做到专业与职业对口,其次就是要加强实践的力度,可以把一些基本的工作任务分配给学生作为教学的主要内容。

最后就是在人才的考核过程中,我们要实现考核的多样化,提高考核的标准,让能力优先者能够有一个好的平台发挥自己的能力。

1.1 人才培养模式的构建人才的培养最终是服务社会的,所以说在人才培养模式的构建过程中我们需要时刻关注社会的动态与走向,以便培养出来的人才能够更好地服务于社会。

人才培养模式的构建需要我们教师通过多年的教学经验和方法的总结才能构建出来的,长时间地比较各种方法,最后留下高效有用的学习方法。

人才培养模式的构建是需要教育者一起来共同努力的。

在培养的过程中我们要以学生为中心,主要是围绕学生展开一系列的教学活动,力求学生能够在短时间内能够学到大量有用的知识。

A Few Thoughts of Interpretation外国语学院英语0704 20073123 杨育Abstract: Interpretation plays a very important role in interlingual and intercultural communications. However, the study of interpretation has long been ignored. This paper introduces main interpretation research centers and their publications, provides some coping tactics of interpreting, and gives some suggestions on how to become a competent interpreter, so as to enhance the role of interpretation as the bridge between different languages and cultures. Key words: interpretation study;interpretation research centers;coping tacticsIntroductionInterpretation is a communicative process which faithfully and orally transfers the information from one language to another (梅德明,2006:6). We are living in a world featured with increasing intercultural communication, and interpretation serves as an effective role to bridge the language and cultural gap. As a phenomenon or an activity, interpretation has a long history, dating back to the early period of human society, but researches on it have long been ignored.This paper consists of five parts, including the introduction and the conclusion. The first part serves as the introduction, which gives an overall view of this paper. The second part presents a literature review of interpretation studies by introducing main interpretation research centers and their publications. The third part is a tentative study of coping tactics for interpreters. The fourth part provides some suggestions on how to be a competent interpreter. The last part serves as the conclusion.1.Main interpretation research centers and their publicationsOver the last few decades, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of publications on interpretation. A few centers which have a great influence in the contemporary history ofinterpreting research have been formed. Their present activity is particularly noteworthy. This section introduces the main research centers in which interpreting literature is published.2.1 EuropeHistorically, Europe was the first and understandably the largest center of interpreting activity. Its interpreting schools are the oldest, most numerous, and best known worldwide.The Geneva school was the largest European center in the 1950s. It produced in particular two books on interpreting, Herbert(1952) and Rozan(1956), which have become classics and are still used by many instructors. This applies in particular to Rozan’s explanation of the principles of note-taking. ETI, the translation and interpretation school of the University of Geneva which is more than 50 years old, is very active in interpreting training and publishes a journal, Parallels, but has engaged in very little interpreting research since the 1960s. Some of its teachers, though, have produced remarkable papers on teaching, in particular of conference interpretation.France is another large center of academic activity and a major source of interpretation literature on training. Seleskovitch, Lederer, Dejean Le Feal, Maillot, and Durieux are representative figures. Many French authors are conference interpreters and have been vocal advocates of a philosophy of translation based on meaning in context (“le sens”), in which language specific aspects are virtually ignored.Italy has become a very important interpretation research center in recent times. In 1986, the Scuola Superiore per Interpreti e Traduttori of the Universita degli studi di Trieste convened a large symposium on interpretation, including the publication of the proceedings of the meeting, a book on empirical studies in interpreting, and a yearly interpretation research journal, The Interpreter’s Newsletter, which was an influential research journal in the field of interpretation studies.Vienna is the headquarter of INFOTERM. There is also much interpreting theorizing activity in German-speaking countries. Well known authors include de Beaugrande, M. Bowen, Buhler, Kirchhoff, Kurz, Moser, Neubert, Reiss, Snell-Hornby, Vermeer, and Wilss.Scandinavia is another active European center of interpretation research. In particular, the periodic Scandinavian Symposia on Translation Theory (SSOTT),have started to attract the attention of outsiders to the region, and the University of Savonlinna has also been publishing work focusing on empirical research. Elsinorem Denmark, has hosted a series of LanguageInternationa l Conference on interpreting training.There is also training literature from other European countries, in particular Belgium, Spain, and the United Kingdom. British literature tends to be more practical than literature originating from other European countries.3. Coping tactics in interpretationCoping tactics are very fundamental practical skills in interpreting. In spite of interpreter’s preparations, problems do arise in interpreting situations because of processing capacity limitations, errors in processing capacity management, and gaps in the interpreters’Knowledge Base. Many of these problems can be said to be unavoidable. When interpreters are aware of such problems, they tend to use a set of tactics to limit their impact. This part attempts to provide a list of basic coping tactics for a general view of the issue, which apply to a large extent to simultaneous interpretation. They can also be used in consecutive interpreting except for a few differences.3.1 Reconstructing the segment with the help of contextWhen interpreters have not properly heard or understand a technical term, name number, or other type of speech segment, they can try to reconstruct it in their mind using their knowledge of the language, the subject, and the situation, in other words, their extralinguistic knowledge.If successful, reconstruction can result in full recovery of the information. However, it may entail some waiting until more information is available and require considerable time and processing capacity. It is associated with a high risk of saturation and individual deficits. Therefore, reconstruction from the context can not be considered as a high-priority tactic.3.2 Using the boothmate’s helpTheoretically, in simultaneous interpretation there are at least two interpreters in the booth at all times. One is active who produces a target language speech, while the other is passive who listens but not speaks. The passive colleague, who can devote full attention to listening, has a better chance of understanding difficult speech segments than the active interpreter, whose processing capacity is being shared by other efforts. Moreover, on the production side, the passive interpreter can consult a glossary or another document, which takes up much time and processing capacity, and then give the information to the active colleague, generally in writing. The presence of a passive interpreter in the booth is therefore a major asset to the active interpreter.4.Suggestions for interpretersIn interpretation, the interpreter is a key role and stands in the center of the interlingual and intercultural communicative activity. As we know, a good interpreter should be equipped with good hearing, speaking, writing and reading ability. Some suggestions and requisites for interpreters are summed up here.Firstly, the interpreter should possess high level of linguistic proficiency. He should be at home in the two languages concerned and quite familiar with their characteristics, similarities and differences (刘重德,2000:6). The interpreter should have a good command of a large quantity of vocabulary of the language, involving the related as well as unrelated fields in interpretation.Secondly, the interpreter should have abundant knowledge. An interpreter is supposed to be a “walking encyclopedia”. The interpreting process is largely dependent on interpreter’s encyclopedic knowledge which is stored in his cognitive environments for interpretation. The more knowledge the interpreter shares with communicators, the better he will do the job. It is impossible for the interpreter to possess all the knowledge in the world, but he is supposed to know everything of something and something of everything.Thirdly, a bi-cultural vision is indispensable to an interpreter. He should be aware of the possible cultural diversities in the speech and know how to remove these cultural difficulties effectively. As a cultural mediator, he or she will need to be a specialist in negotiating understanding between cultures (Katan, 2004:12).Finally, the interpreter should keep on learning. He has to make every effort to keep abreast of linguistic, cultural, and social development through the media and the internet. He should listen carefully to how language is used by native speakers from different countries and note their use of words and expressions. He should also learn much about different specialized topics such as economics, law and technology, and develop deeply into the one he interprets.5. ConclusionInterpretation plays a very important role in interlingual and intercultural communication. With China’s opening to the outside world and its entry into WTO, the demand for interpreters has increased dramatically. However, interpreting is by no means an easy job. This paper presents an overview of interpretation studies in recent years by introducing main interpretation research centers and their publications, provides some coping tactics of interpreting, and gives somesuggestions on how to become a competent interpreter. As a speaker ,it’s necessary for interpreter to make audience understand easily and clearly .Voice training can through reading, lectures and tongue twisters, etc. Interpreter have to discover their own sounds vague, unclear articulation and other issues ,then make targeted correction. Interpreters should make a balance between loud voices and soft sound . The interpreter keep appropriate volume, it can overcome the tension and show the confidence. A large number of reading aloud and speech rate training are benefit to improve interpreters'abilities when emergencies. For example ,because of the time limit ,interpreter need shorten the speech . When the interpreter practicing ,it’s significant to keep the volume and sound at the same level of quality, can not let the audience feel too obtrusive changes, even if the velocity variations must maintain a smooth sweet sound . The interpreter also should pay attention to use the microphone . As interpreters work mostly through a microphone to transmit sound, so be sure to pay attention to the reasonable control of sound. It’s important to keep a distance between the mouth and microphone to avoid breathing and other additional sound affect expression.2.Grasping the rhythmInterpreters should remain steady rhythm when expressing. Appropriate pause can help the audience better understand and grasp the speaker's intentions, listen actively .So interpreter should notice that the location of punctuate and pause time,invite the friends to be audience and check the effect of their own reading for helping find the problem.3.Adjusting the toneTone is a signal that can reflect speakers'emotion, it including questioning, exclamation, anger, complaints and emphasizing. Interpreters can choose some speech video to imitate a different tone of the speaker in spare time ,like actors re-interpretation of the previous speech.In addition, the tone of an interpreter should try to be consistent with the atmosphere of the meeting.If the translation occasion is solemn, try not to be too casual and humorous when interpreting . Conversely if it is in an informal setting, if the speaker's tone is ridicule, translators should also be done with ease and humor.In additional ,there are ten tips for students' daily study about interpretation .⑴Listen to yourself. Try to record your own interpretation ,then make a comparison with English-speaking people.⑵Slow down! 经济与管理学院1002班上学期我们学习了口译这门课程,使我对口译工作有了初步的了解和认识,自己也总结出了一些通过口译训练来提高记忆力的方法。

口译是翻译的一种形式,指译员以口头的形式将一种语言所表达的内容忠实地用另一种语言表达出来.它最大的特点是具有现场性和局限性。

笔译讲究“信、达、雅”,口译则强调“准、顺、快”。

准:即准确,指准确理解原语信息并完整无误的将其译成目的语。

顺:即通顺,指译员用目的语表达原语信息时要通顺流畅,符合语言表达规范。

快:即译员反应要快,讲话人的话音刚落,译员就要开始翻译。

口译的过程首先是听解,然后是记忆和转换,然后表达出来。

我觉得理解是一个很重要的环节,它需要运用语言知识和语言外知识然后进行综合分析。

我之前参加过湖北省翻译大赛的口译,是交替传译,觉得自己在这方面做得不太好,一个句子听到之后自己都没有理清楚就无从翻译了,这和平时的知识面和外语功底有很大关系。

目前也由于我国对外越来越开放,各国由于地域语言不通,在展开经济政治乃至生活中的交流时,口译就起到了很大的作用,译员通过自己的知识将一种民族的语言加以思维加工转换成另外一个民族的语言,促进不同民族之间的交流。

我们知道口译是一种高智力和高技能的活动,要在瞬间把握两种语言的转换,当场得到预期的反应,并非一件易事。

它要求译员要有敏捷的思维,超强的反应能力和记忆能力以及抗干扰能力。

特别是记忆能力,经过一个学期对口译这门课程的学习,老师的指导和训练以及自己的总结,根据记忆的特征我归纳出一些可以提高口译记忆力的方法。

口译记忆有三种类型:即瞬时记忆、短时记忆和长时记忆。

记忆的效果与记忆材料的类型有一定的关系,考虑到记忆的不同类型和影响记忆的种种因素,我们可以采取以下几种方法进行相关的记忆训练。

一、加强基础知识学习,增加词汇量和自己的知识面。

我觉得这对于口译记忆力的提高有很大帮助,只有自己的知识面广了,才
能更好地应付在实际口译工作中出现的新词,更好的去转换,应用。

同时,语言都具有固定搭配的特征,脑海中记忆的多了,翻译时就会很自然的联想到,所以提高自己的知识面对于提高翻译记忆力具有重要作用。

二、记忆一些口译特有的符号和简写,便于记笔记。

由于口译工作的瞬时性,在进行有笔口译时笔记发挥了很大的作用,但要求我们记笔记的速度要非常快,一边手写一边听新的内容。

所以符号和简写就非常重要,在课堂上老师已经教授了我们许多关于简写和符号表示,例如,东西南北方位词就用箭头表示;城市、国家就用首字母大写缩写表示;问句就用问号表示等等,大大简化了记忆的内容,简单清晰,便于记忆。

三、根据信息视觉化和现实化进行训练。

这就是将信息内容现实化、视觉化来记忆信息的能力,利用我们的右脑的图像功能。

根据科学调查显示,人类通过图像来进行记忆比其他形式的记忆能起到更好的效果,记忆的更准确更长久。

例如译员听到一段描写中国万里长城的内容,这时译员就可以在脑海里勾勒一幅万里长城宏伟的图景,想像自己俯瞰万里长城。

然后译员再通过自己的语言将这幅图描述出来,既简单生动,又形象清晰。

四、逻辑分层化记忆训练。

通常,人们能较好地识记逻辑层次清晰、结构紧凑的篇章。

训练时,我们可以从一些条理清晰的篇章入手,锻炼自己的逻辑思维和整理识记的能力。

在听一段口译材料时,注意抓住句首句末承接以及转换的词,方位词,连结词等,这样就能把我整段话的层次,更好的记忆。

五、平时要持之以恒坚持每天训练,训练时注意力集中。

一个好的口译员的炼成不是一朝一夕,所以我们要坚持每天都要训练一段时间,同时在训练时就要做到注意力集中。

可以专门训练一下关于数字的翻译、专有词的翻译等。

其他提高口译记忆力的方法还有,在公众场合作一些即兴演讲,通过一些口译软件进行训练等。

我最常用的一款口译软件是普特英语口译,它将口译训练分为六个部分,源语复述、译语复述、同声听译、精听五到十遍、译语复述、同声传译。

我觉得这种训练起到了很好的记忆提高效果。

今后我也会坚持自己总结的方法,不断练习,提高自己的口译能力。
