奶牛产奶的英语

奶牛产奶的英语

奶牛产奶的英语Dairy cows are a vital part of the agricultural industry, providing a crucial source of milk and dairy products for human consumption. The process of milk production in dairy cows is a complex and fascinating one, involving a delicate balance of physiological and environmental factors. In this essay, we will explore the intricacies of dairy cow milk production and examine the various factors that contribute to its success. At the heart of milk production in dairy cows is the mammary gland, a specialized structure that is responsible for the synthesis and secretion of milk. The mammary gland is composed of millions of alveoli, which are small sacs that contain the milk-producing cells. These cells are constantly working to convert the nutrients in the cow's diet into the various components of milk, including fat, protein, lactose, and minerals. The process of milk production begins with the cow's intake of feed. Dairy cows are typically fed a carefully balanced diet that is high in energy, protein, and other essential nutrients. As the cow digests thisfeed, the nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to the mammary gland. Once in the mammary gland, these nutrients are converted into the various components of milk through a complex series of biochemical reactions. One of the key factors that influences milk production in dairy cows is the stage of lactation. Dairy cows typically produce the most milk during the first few months of lactation, with production gradually declining as the lactation period progresses. This is due to a variety of physiological changes that occur within the cow's body, including changes in the structure and function of the mammary gland.Another important factor that affects milk production is the cow's overall health and well-being. Dairy cows require a comfortable and stress-free environment in order to thrive and produce high-quality milk. This includes access to clean water, nutritious feed, and adequate space to move around and engage in natural behaviors. Factors such as heat stress, disease, and injury can all have a negative impact on milk production, and dairy farmers must be vigilant in monitoring the health and welfare of their herd. The milking process itself is also a critical component of milk production in dairy cows. Cows are typically milked two or three times per day using specialized equipment that gently extracts the milk from the mammary gland. The frequency and timing of milkingcan have a significant impact on milk production, as the cow's body is designed to produce milk in response to the stimulation of the milking process. In addition to the physiological factors that influence milk production, there are also a number of environmental and management factors that can play a role. For example, the climate and weather conditions in the cow's environment can affect milk production, with cows in hot, humid climates often producing less milk than those in more temperate climates. Dairy farmers must also carefully manage the breeding and genetics of their herd, selecting for cows that are genetically predisposed to high milk production.Overall, the process of milk production in dairy cows is a complex and fascinating one, involving a delicate interplay of physiological, environmental, and management factors. By understanding these factors and implementing best practices in dairy farming, dairy producers can optimize milk production and ensure a reliable and sustainable supply of this essential food product.。

His family moved to Cleveland when he was 9.There, a school teacher asked the youth his name. "J.C., "he replied. She thought he had said "Jesse", and he had a new name.Owens ran his first race at age 13. After high school, he went to Ohio State University. He had to work part time so as to pay for his education. As a second year student, in the Big Ten games in 1935, he set even more records than he would in the Olympic Games a year later.A week before the Big Ten meet, Owens accidentally fell down a flight of stairs. His back hurt so much that he could not exercise all week, and he had to be helped in and out of the car that drove him to the meet. He refused to listen to the suggestions that he give up and said he would try, event by event. He did try, and the results are in the record book. The stage was set for Owens victory at the Olympic Games in Berlin the next year, and his success would come to be regarded as not only athletic but also political. Hitler did not congratulate any of the African American winners."It was all right with me, "he said years later. "I didn’t go to Berlin to shake hands with him, anyway."Having returned from Berlin, he received no telephone calls from the president of his own country, either. In fact, he was not honored by the United States until 1976, four years before his death.Owens Olympic victories made little difference to him. He earned his living by looking after a school playground, and accepted money to race against cars, trucks, motorcycles and dogs."Sure, it bothered me, "he said later. How To Be A Successful AthleteBI’ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it as mothersat doing letters. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the most wonderful thing in the world.Years later, during her final illness, mother kept different things for my sister and brother. ―But the desk,‖ she said again, ―is for Elizabeth.‖I never saw her angry, never saw her cry. I knew she loved me; she showed it in action. But as a young girl, I wanted heart-to-heart talks between mother and daughter. They never happened. And a gulf opened between us. I was “too emotional(易动感情的)”. But she lived “on the surface”.As years passed and I had my own family. I loved my mother and thanked her for our happy family. I wrote to her in careful words and asked her to let me know in any way she chose that she did forgive me.I posted the letter and waited for her answer, none came.My hope turned to disappointment, then little interest and, finally, peace. It seemed that nothing happened. I couldn’t be sure that the letter had even got to Mother. I only knew that I had written it, and I could stop trying to make her into someone she was not.Now the present of her desk told me that she was pleased that writing was my chosen work though she’d never been able to. I cleaned the desk carefully and found some papers inside —a photo of my father and a one-page letter, folded(折叠) and refolded many times.Give me an answer, my letter asks, in any way you choose, Mother, you always chose the act that speaks louder than words.61. Sh e didn’t forgive her daughter at all in all her life.D. She read the letter again and again till she died.65. What’s the best title of the passage?A. My letters to MotherB. Mother and ChildrenC. My Mother’s DeskD. Talks between Mother and me.CChildren start out as natural scientists, eager to look into the world around them. Helping them enjoy science can be easy; there is no need for a lot of scientific terms or expensive lab equipment. You only have to share your children’s curiosity. Firstly, listen to their questions. I once visited a classroom of seven–year-olds to talk about science as a job. The children asked me ―textbook questions‖ about schooling, salary and whether I liked my job. When I finished answering, we sat facing one another in sil ence. Finally I said,‖ Now that we’ve finished with your lists, do you have questions of your own about science?‖After a long pause, a boy raised his hand, ―have you ever seen a grasshopper (蚱蜢) eat? When I try eating leaves like that, I get a stomachache. Why?‖This began a set of questions that lasted nearly two hours.Secondly, give them time to think. Studies over the past 30 years have shown that. After asking a question, adults typically wait only one second or less for an answer, no time for a child to think. When adults increase their ―wait time‖ to three seconds or more, children give more logical, complete and creative answers.Thirdly, watch your language. Once you have a child inv olved in a science discussion, don’t jump in with ―That’s right‖ or ―very good‖. These words work well when it comes to encouraging good behavior. But in talking about science, quick praise can signal that discussion is over. Instead, keep things going by saying, ―That’s interesting‖ or ―I’d never thought of it that way before‖, or coming up with more questions or ideas.Never push a child to ―think‖. It doesn’t make sense; children are always thinking, without your telling them to. What’s more, this can tu rn a conversation into a performance. The child will try to find the answer you want, in as few words as possible, so that he will be a small target for your disagreement.Lastly, show; don’t tell. Real-life impressions of nature are far more impressive than any lesson children can learn from a book or a television program. Let children look at their fingertips through a magnifying glass, and they’ll understand why you want them to wash before dinner. Rather than saying that water evaporates(蒸发), set a pot of water to boil and let them watch the water level drop.66. According to the passage, children are natural scientist, and to raise their interest, the most important thing for adults to do is______.A. to share the children’s curiosityB. to let them see the world aroundC. to explain difficult phrases about scienceD. to supply the children with lab equipment67. In the last sentence of the first paragraph, the word ―list‖ could best be replaced by______.A. any problemsB. questions from the textbooksC. any questionsD. any number of questions68. According to the passage, children can answer questions in a more logical, complete and creative way if adults______.A. ask them to answer quicklyB. wait for one or two seconds after a questionC. wait at least for three seconds after a questionD. tell them to answer the next day69. In which of the following paragraph(s) does the author tell us what to say to encourage children in a science discussion?A. The second and thirdB. The fifthC. The fifth and sixthD. The fourth and fifth70. The author mentions all of the following techniques for adults to share with their children’s curiosity EXCEPT that adults should______.A. encourage their children to ask questions of their ownB. offer their children chances to see things for themselvesC. be patient enough when their children answer questionsD. tell their children stories instead of reciting (背诵) factsPart 1V Writing (45 marks)Section A (10 marks)Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in the num breed blanks by using the information from the passage.Write NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer.Acting is voluntarily entering the psyche(心灵) of another personality and thinking according to a different set of values. It lets you explore the various possibilities of what you could be. Just being your own self can be boring at times but acting gives you an opportunity to be someone else for a while. It lets you deeply explore what it means to be human! To play a role, you must embrace(接受) the character you're acting with open arms. Understand the plot of the play and the psyche of your character. Try to understand why your character behaves the way it does. Learn the lines or dialogues thoroughly and explore the thought behind every sentence. This will help you picture the circumstances in which the character finds itself. To be that person, there is no way you can live the life he or she has, but you can draw parallels from your own life, which will help you relate to the person. You have to draw parallels from your own experience and actually try to feel what the character feels. Say the lines only when you "feel" the way your character does. Let them come out naturally.Only through practice will you get closer to actually be that person, and many actingexercises can help you. Try saying the dialogue giving the correct facial expressions in front of a mirror. Learn the techniques of raising as well as lowering your voice. Practice acting out the expressions like joy, sorrow, laughter, anger, disapproval, satisfaction etc. These facial expressions, if mastered well, can make your acting experience happy. In short, your experience off stage and the awareness with which you live your life are the keys you need to unlock your acting potential. Confidence, sincerity and the ability to let go of yourself will turn into a great acting performance!Title: How to actI. 71. ___________________of acting●exploring the various possibilities of what you could be●avoiding 72. _____________ by being someone else for a while●exploring the 73. ______________ of being humanII. They can also mitigate problems related to wildlife-vehicle collisions (碰撞) and save significant money for a community.Wildlife crossings are man-made structures that help animals move safely around their habitat. They are often paths under or over another existing road or railway, or underground passages for animals to get past for food or avoiding attacks. Some animals are unable to migrate to survive. People still rely on highways for business and travel, and animals continue to have mobility needs for survival, though. When new roads are built, animals living in a part of their habitat can greatly increase the number of wildlife vehicle collisions while trying to cross the new barriers. In a new study, Wisnu Sugiarto, a Washington State University economics doctoral student, examined data for 13 of the 22 wildlife crossings, including bridges and underpasses, in the Washington State. He compared the number of wildlife-vehicle collisions each year before and after the construction of a wildlife crossing. He considered the area within 10 miles of a crossing. Then he compared his analysis to a separate area in the state with no crossings at all. “The findings reported that wildlife crossing structures reduced the number of wildlife-vehicle collisions by one to three accidents on average per mile per year,” Sugiarto said. “Therefore, building wildlife crossing structures is typically an essential and effective strategy to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions.”“Trior to working on this research, I wasn’t aware of any strategies to reduce wildlife vehicle collisions. I also thought we couldn’t do much about it, partly because we wouldn’t be able to communicate with wildlife and control their movement,” Sugiarto added. “However, it turns out that there are multiple strategies to deal with issues related to wildlife-vehicle collisions and we can do something about them. ”It is reported that the government has invested $ 350 million over five years for the construction of wildlife crossings. Every wildlife crossing offers a mean benefit of between $235,000 and $443,000 each year.1. What does the underlined word “mitigate” in paragraph 1 mean?A.Analyze. B.Reduce. C.Study. D.Discover.2. What does the third paragraph mainly tell us?A.How the wildlife crossings are built.B.Why wildlife crossings are necessary.C.What should be done to cross the roads.D.When wildlife-vehicle collisions happen.3. What is Sugiarto’s attitude to the construction of wildlife crossings?A.Tolerant. B.Skeptical.C.Favorable. D.Conservative.4. What is the best title for the text?A.Wildlife crossings save wild animals and moneyB.The size of wildlife crossings affects animals greatlyC.Every wildlife crossing has a great effect on road safetyD.Wildlife crossings manage to help animals move safely5. What is IQ—and how much does it matter? 1 In short, it is supposed to measure how well someone can use information and logic to answer questions or make predictions. IQ tests begin to assess this by measuring short- and long-term memory. They also measure how well people can solve puzzles and recall information they’ve heard—and how quickly.2 But some students struggle in school because of a weakness in one specific area of intelligence. These students often benefit from special education programs. There, they get extra help in the areas where they’re struggling. IQ tests can help teachers figure out which students would benefit from such extra help.IQ tests can also help identify students who would do well in fast-paced “gifted education” programs.3 And the US government uses IQ tests when choosing who to hire. These tests help predict which people would make good leaders, or be better at certain specific skills.4 Most non-experts think intelligence is the reason why successful people do so well. Psychologists who study intelligence find this is only partly true. IQ tests can predict how well people will do in particular situations, such as thinking abstractly in science, nearing or art. or lending teams of people. But there’s more to the story. Extraordinary achievement depends on many things. And those extra categories include ambition, persistence, opportunity the ability to think dearly—even luck. 56. 示范译文 2: Nature endows all people with her bounty on an equal footing, whether they are rich or poor. Therefore, all people alike are dependent on Nature equally profoundly. This is particularly true of rural people, who have lived an unchanged life for thousands of years in the country. They grow crops and grapes; they make wine and brew beer drink them; they raise cattle and milk cows; they weed gardens and plant flowers. At weekends, they go to church to say their prayers or conduct religious services. During holidays, they go to open squares, where they play musical instruments, dance to music and sing songs. Fields and gardens in the past continue to be their sweet homeland. Thus, each place has had its own legends and developed its own customs, which pass down from generation to generation.

Just put on some running shoes and comfortable clothes and go for a run.One of the best things about the sport of running is that you don't need expensive equipment. All you need is a good pair of running shoes and a safe environment. But don't be fooled into thinking the sport of running is easy. It requires discipline and concentration.Running is good for you both physically and mentally. It strengthens your heart, lungs, and muscles. It makes you more aware of your body. It can even help you to stay more focused in school because exercise helps you to think more clearly. How do you get engaged in the sport if you don't know much about it? We grew cotton, sugar cane, corn, hogs, and chickens and had a large garden, but it didn't bring in much cash. So when I was 12, I got a part-time job on a dairy farm down the road, helping to milk cows. We milked 65 cows at 5 in the morning and again at 2 in the afternoon, seven days a week.In the kitchen one Saturday before daylight, I remember complaining to my father and grandfather about having to go milk those cows. My father said, "Ya know, boy, to work is a blessing."I looked at those two men who had worked harder than I ever had — my father eking out(=making/earning) a living on that farm and my grandfather farming and working as a carpenter during the Depression. I had a feeling I had been told something really important, but it took many years before it sank in(完全被弄懂).Going to college was a rare privilege for a kid from Lakeland(莱克兰). My father told me if I picked something to study that I liked doing, I'd always look forward to my work. But he also added, "Even having a job you hate is better than not having a job at all." I wanted to be a farmer, but I joined the ROTC program(预备军官训练项目)to help pay for college. And what started out as an obligation to the Army became a way of life that I stayed committed to for 37 years, three months and three days.Serving in the U.S. Army overseas, I saw a lot of people like that woman in Bangladesh. And I have come to believe(逐步相信) that people without jobs are not free. They are victims of crime, the ideology of terrorism, poor health, depression and social unrest. These victims become the illegal immigrants, the slaves of human trafficking, the drug dealers, and the street gang members. I have seen it over and over again on the U.S. border, in Somalia, the Congo, Afghanistan and in New Orleans. People who have jobs can have a home, send their kids to school, develop a sense of pride, contribute to the good of the community, and even help others. When we can work, we are free. We are blessed.I don't think I will ever quit working. I'm retired from the Army, but I'm still working to help people be prepared for disaster. And I may get to do a little farming someday, too. I'm not going to stop. I believe in my father's words. I believe in the blessing of work.11. The author got a part-time job on a dairy farm______.A. To pay for his school tuitionB. But our muscles do not have to look like that to work well.②As a matter of fact, every time we write our name, we use the 20 different muscles in our hand. Every time our heart beats, we use our cardiac muscle (心肌). When we eat our food, we use our tongue muscles. We even use muscles when we open and close our eyes. In fact, every time we move, we use some of the muscles in our body.③A muscle is made of tiny fibers. Fiber is a type of tissue that feels a little like a rubber band. Thousands of these fibers are packed together to make a single muscle. We all have the same number of muscles--about 700 or so. Men and women with big muscles simply have thicker bundles of fibers.④There are three different types of muscles in our body. Smooth muscles are the ones that we cannot control. They work quietly to keep our body running. Also, they are the ones that help us to absorb our food. The cardiac muscle.makes the heart pump blood in and out. Skeletal muscles are the ones that we can control. These are the muscles that we use to raise our hands, or ride our bicycles.⑤Even our face often uses muscles. USACO(Train)解题报告

USACO(Train)解题报告

USACO(Train)部分Chapter1Section 1.1Y our Ride Is Here (ride)这大概是一个容易的问题,一个“ad hoc”问题,不需要特殊的算法和技巧。

Greedy Gift Givers (gift1)这道题的难度相当于联赛第一题。

用数组incom、outcom记录每个人的收入和支出,记录每个人的名字,对于送礼人i,找到他要送给的人j,inc(incom[j],outcom[i] div n),其中n 是要送的人数,最后inc(incom[i],outcom[i] mod n),最后输出incom[i]-outcom[i]即可。

(复杂度O(n^3))。

Psychologists have discovered that even the most independent-minded of us will conform to social pressure when we are with a group of people. In one classic experiment, people were shown a vertical(垂直的)line and asked to find a line of identical length from a selection of three. You might think that this is an absurdly easy task, and when people perform it by themselves they do it very well. However, psychologists have discovered that we are very easily swayed by the opinions of other people when we do this task in a group. In one study, a group of three people was set up, where two of the people were confederates(同伙)of the experimenter. When the confederates deliberately gave wrong answers, people were often swayed to give the wrong answer also. In fact, 75% of people gave at least one wrong answer, with some people conforming to peer pressure on every occasion. But why do people conform in this way? In an easy task like this, it seems that people do not want to step out of line with the prevailing opinion of the group. On more difficult tasks, people also conform because they lose confidence in their own ability to make decisions and prefer to trust the majority opinion instead.A typical example of this kind of conformity arises when we come across people in distress. Would you help a woman who has been attacked in the street? It turns out that you are much more likely to go to her assistance if you are alone. When other people are also around, a diffusion of responsibility occurs. People are paralysed into inaction, because everyone assumes that someone else will go to the woman's assistance.1. In Paragraph 1, the underlined word “conform” probably means “”.A. seek independenceB. disobey ordersC. follow what others doD. seek pleasure2. What is the purpose of the experiment described in Paragraph 2? A. To explain why people would be influenced by the opinions of others.B. To prove that people are easily influenced by the opinions of others.C. To train the confederates of the experimenter as independent-minded.D. To describe how people would be influenced by the opinions of others.3. In the last paragraph, according to the author, why wouldn’t one help the woman?A. He thinks he has no responsibilities to give a hand.B. He thinks he has nothing to do with it.C. He is too shy to give his helping hand.D. He thinks someone else will offer assistance.4. 挤牛奶英语作文Milking Cows。

Milking cows is an essential part of dairy farming. It is the process of extracting milk from cows for human consumption. In this article, we will explore the various aspects of milking cows, including the equipment used, the milking process, and the importance of proper milking techniques.Firstly, let's discuss the equipment used in milking cows. The most common tool is the milking machine, which consists of a vacuum pump, a pulsator, and a milk container. The vacuum pump creates a vacuum that stimulates the cow's udder and helps in the extraction of milk. The pulsator regulates the flow of vacuum, mimicking the natural rhythm of a calf suckling. The milk container collects the milk and transports it to a storage facility. Now, let's move on to the milking process. Before milking, cows need to be prepared by cleaning their udders and teats. This is done to ensure the milk remains hygienic and free from any contaminants. Once the cow is prepared, the milking machine is attached to the teats. The vacuum created by the machine causes the milk to flow out of the udder and into the milk container. The process is painless for the cows and usually takes around 5-7 minutes per cow.Proper milking techniques are crucial to maintain the health and productivity of the cows. Firstly, it is important to ensure that the milking equipment is clean and properly maintained. Regular cleaning and sanitizing of the machine prevent the spread of bacteria and maintain milk quality. Additionally, gentle handling of the cows during milking reduces stress and improves milk production. Milking should be done at regular intervals, typically twice a day, to prevent discomfort and maintain cow health.Milking cows is not just about extracting milk; it also plays a vital role in the overall well-being of the cows. Regular milking helps prevent udder infections, as it removes excess milk and reduces the risk of mastitis. Mastitis is a common udder infection thatcan cause pain and discomfort for the cows, leading to decreased milk production. Proper milking techniques, such as ensuring the teats are dry and clean before attaching the milking machine, can significantly reduce the occurrence of mastitis. In conclusion, milking cows is a fundamental process in dairy farming. It involves the use of specialized equipment, proper milking techniques, and regular intervals. By following these practices, farmers can ensure the health and productivity of their cows, as well as maintain the quality of the milk produced. Milking cows is not just a task; it is a responsibility that requires attention to detail and care for the well-being of the animals.。

Each passage is followed by five questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. Choose the best one and mark your answer on the ANSWER SHEET with a single bar through the center of the letter.Passage OneChildren in the United States are exposed to many influences other than that of their families. Television is the most significant of these influences, because the habit of watching television usually begins before children start attending school.Parents are concerned about the lack of quality in television programs for children. The degree of violence in many of these shows also worries them. Studies indicate that, when children are exposed to violence, they may become aggressive or insecure. Parents are also concerned about the commercials that their children see on television. Many parents would like to see fewer commercials during programs for children. And some parents feel that these shows should not have any commercials at all because young minds are not mature enough to dealwith the claims made by advertisers.Educational television has no commercials and has programs for children that many parents approve of. The most famous of these is Sesame Street, which tries to give preschool children a head start in learning the alphabet(字母)and numbers. It also tries to teach children useful things about the world in which they live.Even though most parents and educators give Sesame Street and shows like it high marks for quality, some critics argue that all television, whether educational or not, is harmful to children. These critics feel that the habit of watching hours of television every day turs children into bored and passive (被动的)consumers of their world rather than encouraging them to become active explorers of it.11.Which of the following statements is NOT based on the passage?A. Parents are worried about the influence from television on their children.B. Television has much influence on children.C. Both parents and their children like watching educational television.D. Some critics think that television is no good for children.12. In what ways do children suffer from television?A. They become the victims of social violence.B. They spend hours watching television instead of doing school work.C. The programs make the children lose interest in the world.D. The programs make the children spend too much of their parents’money.13.Parents would not like their children to see commercials because____A. they think that their children are not old enough to handle advertisingB. commercials teach children alphabet and numbersC. commercials help to sell productsD. they don't like commercialscational television is widely appreciated because________A.it does have the same commercials as othersB. it offers programs for both children and their parentsC. many parents like the programs it offers for their childrenD. children can learn some school subjects before they go to school15.Which of the following can best serve as the title of the passage?A. Watching Too Much Television May Be Harmful to Young MindsB. Television Is More Harmful than EducationalC. Television's Influence on ChildrenD. More Educational TelevisionPassage TwoToday just as technology changed the face of industry, farms have undergone an “agricultural revolution". On the farm of today, machines provide almost all the power. One of the most important benefits will be the farm computer. A few forward-looking farmers are already using computers to help them run their farms more efficiently. The computers help them keep more accurate records, so they can make better decisions on what crops to plant, how much livestock to buy, when to sell their products, and how much profit they can expect. Many computer companies have been developing special computer programs just for farmers. Programs are being written for hog producers, grain farmers, potato farmers, and dairy farmers. In the future, farmers will be able to purchase computer programs made to their needs. Because of the growing importance ofcomputers on the farm, students at agricultural colleges are required to take computer classes in addition to their normal agricultural courses. There can be no doubt that farmers will rely on computers even more in the future. While the old-time farm depended on horse power, and modern farms depend on machine power, farms of the future will depend on computer power.Another technological advance which is still in the experimental stage is the robot, a real “mechanized hired hand"” that wil l be able to move and, in some ways, think like a human being Agricultural engineers believe that computer-aided robots will make startling changes in farming before the end of the century. Unlike farmers of the present, farmers of the future will find that many day-to-day tasks will be done for them. Scientists are now developing robots that will be able to shear sheep, drive tractors, and harvest fruit. Even complex jobs will be done by robots. For example, in order to milk their cows, farmers must first drive them into the barn, then connect them to the milking machines, watch the machines, and disconnect them when they are finished. In the future, this will all be done by robots. In addition, when the milking is completed, the robots will automatically check to make sure that the milk is pure. The complete mobilization of the farm is far in the future, but engineers expect that some robots will be used before long.16. Which sentence is the main idea of the whole passage?A. The first sentence of the first paragraphB. The first sentence of the second paragraph.C. The first sentence of the third paragraph.D. The last sentence of the second paragraph.17. According to the passage, computers can not help farmersdecide_____A. how much money they can earn from their productsB. whether to plant a certain kind of cropC. what livestock to raiseD. when to sell their products18.Which of the following statements is true?A. Farmers in the future will depend totally on computers.B. Both computers and robots have been in use on today's farms.C. Farmers mainly use machines on their farms at present.D. Students at agricultural colleges must take computer classes because they can do nothing without the help of computers on today's farms.19. According to the engineers, _______ will be done by robots in the near future.A. most of the farm workB. milking cowsC. all farm workD. all the work20.What is the best title for the whole passage?A. Computer, Farmers, Best FriendB. Farmers in the FutureC. Computers and RobotsD. The Agricultural RevolutionPassage ThreeAn idea that started in Seattle's public library has spread throughout America and beyond. The concept is simple: help to build a sense of community in a city by getting everyone to read the same book at thesame time.In addition to encouraging reading as a pursuit(追求)to be enjoyed by all, the program allows strangers to communicate by discussing the book on the bus, as well as promoting reading as an experience to be shared in families and schools. The idea came from Seattle librarian Nancy Pearl who launched the“ If All of Seattle Read the Same Book”project in 1998. Her original program used author visits, study guides and book discussion groups to bring people together with a book, but the idea has since expanded to many other American cities, and even to Hong Kong.In Chicago, the mayor appeared on television to announce the choice of To Kill a Mockingbird as the first book in the“ One Book, One Chicago”program. As a result, reading clubs and neighborhood groups sprang up around the city. Across the US, stories emerged of parents and children reading to each other at night and strangers chatting away on the bus about the plot and characters. The only problem arose in New York, where local readers could not decide on one book to represent the huge and diverse population. This may show that the idea works best in medium- sized cities or large towns, where a greater sense of unity can be achieved. Or it may show that New Yorkers rather missed the point, putting all their energy and passion into the choice of the book rather than discussion about a book itself.Ultimately, as Nancy points out, the level of success is not measured by how many people read a book, but by how many people are enriched by the process or have enjoyed speaking to someone with whom they would not otherwise have shared a word.21. What is the purpose of the project launched by Nancy?A. To invite authors to guide readers.B. To encourage people to read and share.C. To involve people in community service.D. To promote the friendship between cities.22.Why was it difficult for New Yorkers to carry out the project?A. They had little interest in reading.B. They were too busy to read a book.C. They came from many different backgrounds.D. They lacked support from the local government.23. According to the passage, where would the project be more easily carried out?A. In large communities with little sense of unity.B. In large cities where libraries are far from home.C. In medium-sized cities with a diverse populationD. In large towns where agreement can be quickly reached.24. The underlined words“shared a word”in the last parag raph probably mean _________A. exchanged ideas with each otherB. discussed the meaning of a wordC. gained life experienceD. used the same language25.According to Nancy, the degree of success of the project is judged by_______A. the careful selection of a proper bookB. the growing popularity of the writerC. the number of people who benefit from readingD. the number of books that each person readsPassage FourDiana Jacobs thought her family had a workable plan to pay for college for her 2l-year-old twin sons: a combination of savings, income, scholarships, and a modest amount of borrowing. Then her husband lost his job, and the plan fell apart.“I have two kids in college, and I want to say come home', but at the same time I want to provide them with a good education, " says Jacobs. The Jacobs family did work out a solution: They asked and received more aid from the schools, and each son increased his borrowing to the maximum amount through the federal loan (贷款) program. They will each graduate with S20,000 of debt, but at least they will be able to finish school. With unemployment rising, financial aid administrators expect to hear more families like the Jacobs. More students are applying for aid, and more families expect to need student loans. College administrators are concerned that they will not have enough aid money to go around. At the same time, tuition(学费) continues to rise. A report from the National Center for Public Policy and Higher Education found that college tuition and fees increased 439% during the past 20 years, while average family income rose just 147%. Student borrowing has more than doubled in the last decade, “If we go on this way for another 25 years, we won't have an afford able system of higher education, " says Patrick M. Callan, president of the center.“ The middle class families have been financing it through debt. They will send kids to college whatever it takes, even if that means a huge amount of debt.”Financial aid administrators have been having a hard time as many companies decide that student loans are not profitable enough and have stopped making them. The good news, however, is that federal loans account for about three quarters of student borrowing, and the government says that money will flow uninterrupted.26. According to the first paragraph, why did the plan of Jacobs family fail?A. The twins wasted too much money.B. The father was out of work.C. Their saving ran out.D. The family fell apart.27.How did the Jacobs manage to solve their problem?A. They asked their kids to come home.B. They borrowed $20,000 from the schoolC. They encouraged their twin sons to do part-time jobs.D. They got help from the school and the federal government.28.Financial aid administrators believe that___________A. more families will face the same problem as the JacobsesB. the government will receive more letters of complaintC. college tuition fees will double soonD. America's unemployment will fall29. What can we learn about the middle class families from the text?A. They blamed the government for the tuition increaseB. Their income remained steady in the last decade.C. They will try their best to send kids to college.D. Their debts will be paid off within 25 years.30.According to the last paragraph, the government will________ .A. provide most students will scholarshipsB. dismiss some financial aid administratorsC. stop the companies from making student loansD. go on providing financial support for college studentsPart III Vocabulary and Structure (20 points)Directions:There are 20 incomplete sentences in this part .For each sentence there are four choices marked A, B, Cand D.

(file milk2.in)
Line 1:
一个整数N。

Lines 2..N+1:
每行两个小于1000000的非负整数,表示一个农民的开始时刻与结束时刻。

输出:
(file milk2.out)
一行,两个整数,即题目所要求的两个答案。
