母亲节（Mother's Day），是一个感谢母亲的节日。这个 节日最早出现在古希腊；而现代的母亲节起源于美国，是 每年5月的第二个星期日。 1876年，美国还在悲悼南北战 争的死者。安娜· 查维斯夫人（Anna Jarvis）在礼拜堂讲 授美国国殇纪念日的课程，讲到战役中捐躯的英雄故事后， 她进行祈祷时说：“但愿在某处、某时，会有人创立一个 母亲节，纪念和赞扬美国与全世界的母亲。”当她在72岁 逝世时，41 岁的女儿安娜，立志创立一个母亲节，来实现 母亲多年前祈求的心愿。安娜经过多年的努力，终于使纪 念母亲节的活动开展起来。
