同学应该在学校做课后活动的英语作文
同学应该在学校做课后活动的英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Why We Should Do After-School ActivitiesHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm a 10-year-old student in 5th grade. Today, I want to tell you all about why kids like me should get involved in after-school activities and clubs at our schools. It's super important and I think every student should do it!The biggest reason is that after-school activities are really fun! There are so many cool clubs and teams to join like art club, chess club, dance team, basketball team, and more. You get to spend time with your friends, make new friends, and do activities you enjoy. It beats just going home and watching TV or playing video games. For example, I'm in the school's science club and it's awesome. Every week, we do amazing experiments and learn about crazy things like volcanoes, fossils, and outer space. My favorite experiment so far was making our own lava lamps! We even went on a field trip to the science museum last monthwhich was epic. I never would have got to do such cool science stuff if I didn't join the club.Another great reason to join after-school activities is that you learn awesome new skills. Being part of a club lets you try out new hobbies and discover talents you never knew you had. Like maybe you'll join the art club and find out you're a brilliant painter. Or you join the coding club and become a tech genius! You never know what hidden abilities you have until you explore different activities.I found out I'm really good at public speaking from being part of the debate club. At first, I was super nervous to speak in front of people. But practicing debates helped me gain confidence. Now I'm way better at expressing my thoughts and I even won a debate tournament last year! Maybe public speaking will help me become a great lawyer or politician when I'm older.Extracurriculars also teach you crucial life skills beyond just cool hobbies and talents. You learn how to commit to something, manage your time, work as a team, and be responsible. For my basketball team, I have to show up to every practice and game, be a team player, and make sure I get my homework done before practice. It's helped me become way more organized and disciplined.Joining clubs is also amazing for making friendships that last. The closest friends I have today, I met through being on my school's robotics team. We worked super hard together to build our robot for the competition and struggled through lots of challenges. But we had each other's backs and never gave up. Now they're like my second family and we'll be buds forever after that awesome experience. One more important reason to get involved: it looks fantastic on your records and applications! If you want to get into great colleges and universities later, extracurriculars show you're a hard-working student who explores many interests outside the classroom. Colleges love seeing well-rounded students who do more than just academics. My teachers have told me that students with tons of extracurricular activities tend to get better grades too. I think it's because you have to be so organized with your time in order to juggle homework, activities, family time, and more. Time management is key! It's way harder to slack off or fall behind when you're active in after-school clubs. The only downside to extracurriculars is they require lots of commitment and energy after a long school day. Sometimes I get tired trying to make it through basketball practice after hoursof sitting through classes. But you know what? It's totally worth it to me! I'd way rather be active and productive after school instead of just going home and zoning out.Ultimately, I really really really think all kids should get involved with something at school besides just academics. There are so many fantastic reasons to do it! You'll create wonderful memories, discover your passions, make lifelong friends, learn crucial life skills, boost your academic profile, and have way more fun than sitting at home being bored. My advice? Talk to your teachers and parents about what activities and clubs interest you at your school. Maybe you're into music, art, drama, math, chess, robotics, sports, gardening, coding, or anything else! I'm sure there's a perfect club waiting for you to join it. Getting involved in after-school activities is one of the best decisions I've made and I truly believe it will hugely enrich your life too. What are you waiting for? Sign up for that club today! Trust me, you won't regret it one bit.篇2Why Students Should Do After-School ActivitiesHi there! My name is Emma and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you why I think it's really important for kids like meto join after-school activities at our school. There are so many great reasons that every student should get involved!First of all, after-school activities are super fun! At my school, we have all sorts of cool clubs and teams to pick from. There's art club where you can paint and draw. There's drama club where you can act in plays. We even have a chess club for all you super smart kids out there. Whatever your interests are, there's probably an activity perfect for you.My favorite after-school activity is definitely the soccer team. I've played soccer since I was in 1st grade and I just love it so much. Getting to run around and kick the ball with my friends is the best! We have practices twice a week after school and games on Saturdays. Even though it's hard work, all the running and drills make me feel happy and energized. Playing soccer has kept me fit and healthy too which is important. But after-school activities aren't just fun and games. They also teach you super useful skills that will help you out later in life. Being on the soccer team has taught me how to be a good teammate and work together as a group to succeed. It's shown me that practice and dedication allow you to achieve your goals. I've also had to learn time management by getting my homework done before soccer practice. Some activities, like the school musical, have taught my friends public speaking talents by performing in front of audiences. Others, like the math club, have students solving challenging problems which exercises their brain power. No matter what you join, you're bound to pick up skills that could really help you in the future. Who knows, your after-school activities today could lead to a cool job when you're an adult!Another huge benefit of after-school activities is that they look really impressive on college applications. Colleges want to see that you've explored your interests and passions outside of just academics. Being a well-rounded student who was committed to clubs or sports can help your application stand out. Some activities even let you take on leadership roles as a club officer or team captain. That's a great way to show you have experience being in charge. Finally, the best part about after-school activities is making new friends! When you join a club, you'll instantly have something in common with all the other members. You can bond over your shared interests and spend time together pursuing that interest. Some of my closest friends are the girls I met through the soccer team. We've created so many fun memoriestraveling to games together on the bus and cheering each other on.Even if you're a little shy, after-school activities make it easier to talk to kids you might not know that well by giving you a natural icebreaker conversation topic. You already know you like the same activity, so you can start chatting about that. Who knows, your new friends from building buddies club could become friends for life!As you can see, there are so many awesome reasons why students like me absolutely should join after-school activities. They keep us active, help us learn useful skills, impress colleges, and create new friendships. Every kid should take advantage of the great opportunities our school offers beyond just classes. Now I've gotta run - soccer practice is starting soon! But I really hope I've convinced you to sign up for an after-school activity yourself. Believe me, you won't regret it one bit. Getting involved in school clubs and teams has been one of the best decisions I've made. So what are you waiting for? There's a whole world of fun and enriching experiences awaiting you after those final school bells ring!篇3Why Students Should Do After-School ActivitiesHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm a 5th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to talk to you about why it's really important for kids like me to get involved in after-school activities. It's something I feel really passionate about because being part of clubs and sports teams has been such a huge part of my life.First off, after-school activities are just really fun! Instead of going home and vegging out in front of the TV or playing video games all afternoon, I get to do activities that I actually enjoy. For me, that's being part of the school band and playing soccer. I look forward to those activities every single day because I love music and sports so much.In band, I get to hang out with my friends and we practice playing our instruments together. Our band teacher, Mr. Roberts, makes it super fun by letting us learn popular songs and putting on concerts a few times a year for our family and friends. Playing in the band has helped me appreciate music way more than I used to. I used to think musical instruments were kind of dorky, but now I think they're really cool! And soccer is just an absolute blast. I love being part of a team and working together to try to win games. It's awesomecelebrating with my teammates when we score a goal. Even when we lose, it's still fun because I got to run around and play hard. Plus, my soccer coach is really nice and teaches us important lessons about being a good sport and never giving up.After-school activities give me a chance to discover new interests and hobbies too. This year, I decided to join the school art club just to try something different. I didn't really think I would be good at art, but it turns out I'm actually a pretty decent painter! The art club has allowed me to be creative in a new way and work on my artistic skills. Who knows, maybe I'll evenbe an artist when I grow up!Another big benefit of after-school activities is that they teach you discipline and responsibility. In order to participate, you have to keep your grades up and avoid getting into too much trouble. The commitment of practices, games, performances and meetings has really helped me become more organized and manage my time better. I know I need to get my homework done early so I don't miss any of my activities. My parents are always saying how proud they are of the discipline and dedication I've learned.Being part of after-school groups has also enabled me to make lots of new friends that I may not have met otherwise.Since we all have our activities in common, it gives us something to bond over right from the start. Some of my closest friends now are kids from different classes or even different grades that I got to know through band, soccer or art club. Having those friendships makes me feel happier and more connected at school.Additionally, many after-school activities look super impressive on job or college applications later on. Showing that you could commit to multiple activities over several years proves you have skills like leadership, teamwork and time management. Colleges and employers love seeing extra-curriculars like that! However, the biggest reason I think kids should doafter-school activities is because it keeps us out of trouble. We've all heard how juvenile crime and risky behavior like drinking, drugs and gangs tends to happen most often in thoseafter-school hours when kids just have too much free time on their hands. But when you're part of a positive after-school program, you don't really have an opportunity to get involved in that kind of dangerous stuff. The time just flies by between school, homework, practices, meetings and spending time with the new friends you've made.My parents have told me many times that they feel so much better knowing I'm productively occupied after classes end for the day. They don't have to worry about where I am or what kind of mischief I could be getting into. Instead, they know I'm in a safe, supervised environment where I'm exercising, being creative, learning important life skills and making amazing memories. What could be better than that?In conclusion, after-school activities provide so many wonderful benefits for kids. They allow you to have fun, make friends, discover new talents, learn discipline, improve academic performance and avoid risky behavior. Participating inafter-school clubs, sports and other groups has honestly been one of the best parts of my elementary school experience so far. I would encourage every single student to get involved and take advantage of the great opportunities our schools have to offer outside of regular class time. Trust me, you won't regret it! Thanks for listening, guys!。

On that day, we often eat rice-dumplings and drink a special wine. Besides, what should be stressed is the dragon-boat racing, which is very interesting and exciting. 09-10

The performer is Dong Min, a talented musician born in 1990.After graduating from Minzu University of China with a major in Chinese bamboo flute, Dong registered at the University of New South Wales in Australia in 2015 to study curating (策展) and cultural leadership. Dong quickly found like-minded friends passionate about Chinese traditional instruments. Then, she founded the Sydney Meya Conservatory (音乐学院) of Chinese Music.Dong noticed a lack of awareness of Chinese traditional music in Australia. So, inspired by local performers using Western instruments for street performances, she started street performances with her conservatory members, showing traditional Chinese instruments in Sydney’s Chinatown in 2016.“Street performances offer a direct and visual way for people to experience Chinese music. By bringing it to the streets, we make it accessible to everyone,” she said.As Dong’s performances grew in popularity, snippets (片段) of her shows spread across social media, drawing in a larger audience. With over 1 million followers online, including nearly 150,000 from international platforms, Dong’s influence continues to grow.Apart from her conservatory, Dong also offers online dizi lessons to a global audience and organizes online exchange concerts for her students worldwide. “I hope to create a platform for music enthusiasts to connect and build friendships through their shared love for music,” she said.Ever since she arrived in Australia, Dong has noticed a growing interest in Chinesetraditional music among local people. Many music schools now offer courses on Chinese instruments. “This demonstrates that traditional Chinese music is thriving (兴旺) not only in formal concert halls but also on the streets and within communities,” she said.4.What can we learn about Dong from the first two paragraphs?A.She has a desire to be a leader.B.She has a gift for Chinese music.C.She majored in curating in China.D.She held a fashion show in Sydney. 5.Why did Dong perform on streets?A.To raise funds for her study.B.To promote Chinese traditional music.C.To pursue a good reputation.D.To compete with Western performers. 6.What can we learn about traditional Chinese music from the last paragraph?A.It has gained increasing popularity.B.It used to be taught in local schools.C.It has changed to cater to local tastes.D.It used to be performed in communities. 7.Which of the following words best describe Dong?A.Ambitious and passionate.B.Modest and outgoing.C.Diligent and straightforward.D.Generous and adaptable.Packaging designers often combine a variety of elements—text, illustration, color—in complex designs meant to attract consumers’ attention. In many cases, according to a new series of studies, they'd get better results from a simpler approach. In the first study, the researchers worked with data from the U. S. supermarket chain Kroger. They gathered all product images across four consumable categories—shampoo, deodorant, crackers, and cereal—along with each product’s name, brand, retail (零售) price, and weight. Independent research assistants rated the images on complexity of design. Mapping the ratings against each product's price per ounce showed that the simpler the package was, the higher the product's unit price—suggesting that people are willing to pay more when items are presented simply. In the following experiments, the researchers created simple and complex packages for trail mix and showed one or the other to each of 362 university students. The students indicated the highest amount they would pay for the snack, reported whether they thought it contained few or many ingredients and how pure they believed it to be, and rated the package on attractiveness andsimplicity. Those who saw the simple design were willing to pay more, even though they were less likely than people who saw the complex design to award high marks on attractiveness. The simple design got higher scores on purity, and participants believed the product contained fewer ingredients. Repeating the experiment with a different item—hand lotion (护手霜)—got similar results.“Simplifying packaging design may be an efficient way to convey product information independent of text,” the researchers write. Additional experiments showed that the boost from a simple design was less pronounced when the product's ingredients were highlighted on the package; consumers then had no need to guess purity.8.How did the researchers carry out the first study?A.By talking to the staff from a supermarket.B.By recording opinions from local customers.C.By rating complexity of designs and improving them.D.By analyzing product images and related information.9.The researchers repeated the experiment with hand lotion to find out ________.A.how to create simple packages B.how to get high marks on purityC.whether people preferred simpler designs D.why complex designs were more attractive 10.Which of the following may the researchers agree with?A.Categories of products should be highlighted.B.Managers should make package designs simpler.C.Sales of products should rely more on packaging.D.Researchers should focus on less pronounced facts.11.What is a suitable title for the text?A.Less is more B.Quality over quantityC.The simpler, the healthier D.The more complex, the more expensiveImagine being able to chat with an artificial intelligence (AI) about anything. What if you could discuss last night's game, get relationship advice, or have a deep debate with the virtual assistant on your kitchen counter? Large language models—AIs capable of this level of communication—are advancing quickly enough to make this our new reality. But can we trustwhat artificial agents say? There are many reasons to embrace conversational AI. The potential uses in health, education, research, and commercial spaces are mind-boggling. Virtual characters can't replace human contact, but mental health research suggests that having something to talk to, whether real or not, can help people. But the biggest problem is that we trust them more than we should. There's a large body of research in human-robot interaction which shows that people will respond to social gestures, reveal personal information, and are even willing to shift their beliefs or behaviour for an artificial agent. This kind of social trust makes us vulnerable (脆弱的) to emotional persuasion and requires careful design, as well as rules, to ensure that these systems aren't used against people.A chatbot may, for instance, instruct your child to touch a live electrical plug with a coin, which has happened. The newest language models are trained on vast amounts of text found on the internet, including harmful and misleading content. As it becomes more difficult to expect a language model's responses, there's more risk of unintended consequences. For example, if people ask their home assistant how to deal with a medical emergency, the wrong kinds of answers can be harmful. We need to ask who creates and owns large language models, and whom this harms or benefits. Personal information that people reveal in conversation can be used for and against them. We need to ensure that this technology is designed and used responsibly. After all, humanity deserves protection, too.12.What does the underlined word “mind-boggling” mean?A.Worthwhile.B.Reliable.C.Incredible.D.Impossible. 13.What is the biggest problem with human-robot interaction?A.People may be hurt emotionally.B.People may lack normal social life.C.People may spend too much time online.D.People may become too dependent on AI. 14.What is paragraph 4 mainly about?A.Latest applications and training of AI.B.Potential risks and misuse cases of AI.C.Challenges of predicting AI's responses.D.Dangers of relying on AI for emergencies. 15.What is the author's attitude towards chatting with AI?A.Cautious.B.Supportive.C.Indifferent.D.Doubtful.Are you too responsible?Taking responsibility is an essential element of strong leadership. But when the scales tip to over-responsibility, both the leader and their team suffer. 16Define what you’re truly responsible forWhen it feels like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, try the following pie-chart exercise. 17 Draw a circle on your paper and allocate (分配) responsibility for the situation to each person on your list. Add up those amounts and determine the remaining percentage. The amount left over is your actual share of responsibility.Examine your assumptionsTo start overturning your over-responsibility habit, examine the beliefs and fears that keep it alive. Are they really true? Reframe the release of responsibility and consider that you’re empowering others. Allow them to struggle with a task, solve their own problem, or own up to a mistake. 18Give responsibilities backWhether you willingly assumed a given responsibility or it was placed on you, it’s time to return it to its rightful owner. Identify one responsibility you can return to a specific person.19 Expect a few discomfort at first, but resist the temptation to jump back in.Accept helpIf you’re overly responsible, you likely say “yes” whenever others ask for help but don’t ask for any yourself. It’s time to rebalance your give-accept proportion. 20 If someone asks if they can take something off your plate or offers to do something for you, say “yes.”Rightsizing your responsibility is not about escaping what is yours to own but finding a more appropriate balance. By taking 100% of your responsibility, but not more, you will avoid unnecessary stress and help others grow.A.Practice accepting offers of help.B.Grab a piece of paper and list everyone involved.C.It may be a simple task that someone else should be doing.D.The following strategies may help you find a more appropriate balance.E.In this way, you help them develop greater competence and confidence.F.Leaders who ask for help increase the feelings of connection on their team.G.If so, these could be signs that you have an overactive sense of responsibility.二、完形填空From the age of eight or so, I had to contribute my share of labour along with my father and two elder brothers.Kneeling (跪) in a rice field, I was up to my thighs (大腿) in the 21 . Comments on the Students’ Design after 1st Meeting on 19 May 2017
Design Briefs
BUCEA has decided to open a multi-purpose facility. It will be located in a densely populated urban setting. The site footprint is approximately ~3200 square meters, and it is a rectangle of approximately 82 m by 40 m. It is flanked on both short sides and one of the long side by neighboring buildings.
All the preliminary designs and concepts are good today. Some of my following advices are referring to some slides of my PPT tomorrow (attached).
Students are suggested to review the design briefs above. The volumes are areas of the spaces should be reasonable. In addition, space should be allocated based on their functions and workflows. Some spaces are required to be close to each other’s. For example, a 450-seat music hall may need around 600 square meters. There is also a requirement of volume to offer acceptable reverberation. Music Halls
The optimal reverberation time (RT) of music halls is around 2 sec. For musical performance, the volumes of the halls should be around 9 to 11 cube meters per seat (Slide 8). The ceiling height should not exceed 15 meters to achieve 2 seconds of RT. If there is a balcony, to avoid the acoustic shadow (Slide 2), the deep (D) should not be longer than the height (H) of the area below the balcony (please refer to Slide 7). In addition, the ceiling of the area below the balcony should be designed to properly reflect the sound (Slide 7).
Reflectors (or ceiling) and side walls should be intended to enhance the early reflection (within the 50ms from the direct sound), please refer to Slides 2 and 3 and 11. The ceiling height of the halls should not exceed 13 to 15 meters. The reflectors (or ceiling as reflectors) should be located based on maximum 17m different between the direct
and reflected paths. However, the rear wall should be diffusive or absorptive to avoid the confusion of the sound direction. Generally, for music hall, the rear wall are acoustic diffusers (Slide 4).
Seating arrangement should be referred to the Slide 6. Minimum 6 cm clearance or Preferable 12 cm clearance. Alternatively, 6 degrees angle of the curved floor slope.
To avoid flutter echoes, the parallel walls should be avoided. At least 3 – 5 degrees is required to break the flutter echoes.
The platform size can be referred to the Slides 15 and 16.
Some facilities, such as Dressing Room Suite and Rehearsal Room (if any) which must have easy access to the stage.
Lecture halls
The optimal reverberation time (RT of speech is less than 1 sec. l For speech, the volumes of the halls should be less than 5 – 7 cube meters per seat (Slide 8). The ceiling height should not exceed 5-6 meters.
Allocation of Rooms
Students are suggested to review the ecape routes based on the fire safety requirement. In aidditon, the toilets should be designed to handle the peak useages.。
