ENGLISH about EATING and DRINKING

(This thesis is about differences among different countries) Different countries have different eating and drinking cultures. There are many differences among their eating customs.

About CHINA

China is famous for its all kinds of delicious food, such as Shandong cuisine, Sichuan cuisine and so on. Shandong cuisine and Sichuan cuisine are two of eight cuisines in China. These eight cuisines differ from one another.

For example, Sichuan cooking is noted for its hot flavors . Spicy diced chicken with peanuts(宫保鸡丁) is a traditional Sichuan dish. It’s delicious but vary hot. If you want to have a giant feast of Sichuan cooking, you must prepare plenty of water.

China’s festival have also influenced food. At Lantern festival, Chinese people often eat glue puddings(汤圆). It symbolizes that everything goes well in the new year. On the Spring festival, we

always eat dumplings at midnight. In some area, people wrap candies and peanuts in some dumplings. People who eat the dumplings with candies will enjoy a sweeter lives and who eat the dumplings with peanuts will live long. At Dragon boat festival, we eat zongzi(粽子) in honor of the great poet Quyuan.

Tea drinking is popular in China. There is a legend about tea. According to the legend, over 5,000 years ago in china, there was a divine farmer named shennong. One day, shennong was tired after work. Suddenly, one leave fell down into shennong’s cup.Shennong felt nice about the water. From then on, tea was spreaded. There are many kinds of tea in China, such as dragon well tea, oolong and so on. Today, tea is not just as a kind of culture.

About AMERICA

In America, it hasn’t formed a fixed eating culture. Usually they have some cereal and fruits for breakfast. Two pieces of sandwich for lunch is OK. Their dinner is formal and nice, families get together to enjoy the big dinner. After meals, dessert

is prepared. The dessert is very sweet. Coffee in daily lives is also necessary. They like drinking coffee very much.

Fast food culture in America is popular. In the past, people often ate at McDonald and so on. Now eating Chinese fast food becomes more popular.

About JAPAN

Japan is famous for its light food. Their food is seldom cooked with lots of salt and oil. The most famous food is sushi. Sushi is made of a rice ball with a piece of tuna. They also eat sanshimi(生鱼片) with many kinds of sauce.

Another famous drinking in Japan is tea. Japanes tea culture is very dainty. From the action of sitting down to the refreshments, everything has its own moves and manners. Japanese tea seldom uses other ingredients, which makes it fresh and scented.
