• Qing Ming is a time to remember the dead and the dearly departed. More important, it is a period to honour and to pay respect to one's deceased ancestors and family members. Because it reinforces the ethic of filial piety, Qing Ming is a major Chinese festival.
The Dragon Boat Festival
The Dragon Boat Festival, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. For thousands of years, the festival has been marked by eating zong zi (glutinous rice (糯米) wrapped to form a pyramid using bamboo or reed(芦苇) leaves) and racing dragon boats.

• Youth Day in the People’s Republic of China is on May 4. It was established in December 1949 by the Government Administration行政机构 Council委员会 to commemorate [kə’meməreit] 纪念 the beginning of the May Fourth Movement in 1919.
• The “cold food” festival occurs on the eve (前夜) of Qing Ming and is often considered as part of the Qing Ming festival. As time passes, the Qing Ming festival replaced the “cold food” festival. Whatever practice is observed，the basic observation of Qing Ming is to remember one’s elders by making a special effort to visit their graves（墓穴 ）, ashes（骨灰） or ancestral tablets . （碑） To make the visit even more meaningful, some time should be spent to remind the younger members of the family of the lives and contributions of their ancestors.

• April fools day is a day to play jokes on others, no one knows how this holiday began but people think it first started in France.
• In the 16th century, people celebrated new years day from march 25 to April 1. In the mid—1560s king Charles six changed it from March 25 to January 1. But some people still celebrated in on April 1, so others called them April fools.
• In the America, people play small jokes on their friends and any other people on the first of April. They may point down to your shoe and say, “ your shoelace is untied.” If you believe them and look down to see, you are an April fool then.
All the Festivals that we list are just limited, and we students should make use of the chance to enjoy ourselves, and take the chance to learn about the world.
• In England, people play jokes only in the morning. You are a “noodle” if someone fools you. In Scotland, April fools day is 48 hours long. they call an April fool “April gowk ” ([gauk]呆子 ). Gowk is another name for a cuckoo.( ['kuku] 【俚】傻子;疯 子)
• Each country celebrates April fools day differently. In France, people call the April fools “April fish”. they tape a paper fish to their friends backs to fool them. When he or she finds this , they shout “April fish!”
Making jokes only lasts until the noon of the day, the rule is rigid(严格的)and everywhere acknowledged(公认 的) .Anyone who tries to make a fool after midday is a bigger fool than he who has been fooled. The late trickster is instantly rebuffed(受挫), as a piece of poem goes:
