通过本节课的学习,学生能够掌握一般现在时的表达方式,运用所学知识描述自己和他人喜欢的动物及其原因。

教材内容丰富,插图可爱,激发学生学习兴趣。

二. 学情分析七年级的学生对新鲜事物充满好奇,具有较强的学习兴趣。

他们已掌握一定的一般现在时基本知识,但运用动词原形表达习惯还需加强。

因此,在教学过程中,教师需关注学生个体差异,创设有趣的情境,引导他们积极参与课堂活动。

三. 教学目标1.知识目标:–能听懂、会说、会读本节课的生词和重点句子。

–能运用一般现在时表达自己和他人的喜好。

2.能力目标:–能用英语进行简单的日常交流,表达自己和他人的喜好。

–能借助图片和情境,正确使用动词原形进行表达。

3.情感目标:–培养学生关爱动物、保护环境的意识。

–增强学生学习英语的自信心,提高他们的合作精神。

Learning objectives:
1. Learn and practice some new words and phrases: Thailand,symbol,flag,places,water,tree,ivory,Thai;get lost,be in great danger,cut down,be made of ;forget,kill
2. Read the small passage with some basic reading skills: understand the central meaning and choose the best title(Let’s save the Elephants.) by skimming; and the detailed information (Importance in Thailand, Facts and figures, Abilities, How to save them.) by scanning.
3. Learn to write a small passage about one’s favorite animal with the language learned so far (e.g., This is …. She’s from …. She is…years old. She is …(lazy). She likes… . She can…I like it because…etc.)
4. Learn some basic writing skills: how to brainstorm about the topic, write a sensible draft, proofread with peers and revise the draft, etc.

(1)To know more about elephant. (Show a picture of elephant) by teacher asks and students answer.

Ss:…
T: Yes. She likes to eat leaves, grass.

T : What can he do?

T: Well, he can draw. He can walk for a long time and never get lost. He can also remember places with food and water.

I like it because he is very smart.
T: There are only about 3,000 elephants (over 100,000 before). Elephants are in great danger. Let’s do something to save it.

2. While-reading
(1) Ss skim the passage in 2b and choose the best title.

T guides Ss to Para.1 and Ss read the first sentence aloud together. T further explains that title summarizes the central meaning of the passage.
(2) Ss scan the passage in 2b and complete the mind map. If necessary, T divides Ss into 4 groups and each group is responsible for one item of the mind map(G1: Importance in Thailand(Para.1); G2: Abilities (Para.2); G3: Facts and figures(Para.3); G4: How to save them (Para.3)
Ss revise errors in writing the answers together.
Have four students fill in the form on the Bb, then check the answer.
T: Now, let’s work alone, everyone has to write according to your written form. Hints and time limit are given.
(3) When time is up, T invites two or three Ss to copy their passages on Bb and guide Ss to do joint editing in the class. Evaluate the content and the accuracy of the language.
Step 4 Homework
Exchange the writing in pairs. Read your partner’s writing and do the editing
