St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russian, was founded in 1703 by Emperor Peter the Great. St. Petersburg had become Petrograd in 1914.Ten years later, the city's name changed again, this time to Leningrad. Then in1991, Leningraders voted to restore the city's original name.
