Then choose some groups to share their answers with the whole class.Answer Keys (Suggested Answers)1.Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) can be defined as a self-regulatingbusiness model that helps a company be socially accountable —to itself, its stakeholders, and the public. In other words, it is the continuing commitment by business to behave ethically and contribute to economic development while improving the quality of life of the workforce and their families as well as of the local community and society at large.2.Text AnalysisTeaching Steps1.OverviewAsk Ss to preview Text A before class. Or, allocate some time for Ss to read the text quickly in class. Provide additional information in Supplementary Information when necessary.•economic system•free enterprise2)Explain some important language points in Language Support to Ss.3)Discuss with Ss the features of the two versions of Adam Smith’s theory bydoing Task 1 in Critical reading and thinking.4)Organize a group discussion about the questions from Task 2 in Criticalreading and thinking. Encourage Ss to think independently, critically and creatively and share their ideas with each other.Supplementary Information1.economic systemAn economic system is a system for producing, distributing and consuming goods and services, including the combination of the various institutions, agencies, consumers, entities that comprise the economic structure of a given society or community. It also includes how these various agencies and institutions are linked to one another, how information goes between them, and the social relations within the system. Two of the basic and general economic systems are market economy and planned economy. Market economy is an economic system in which businesses and individuals decide what to produce and buy, and the market determines quantities sold and prices, whereas planned economy is an economic system in which decisions regarding production and investment are embodied in a plan formulated by a central authority, usually by a public body such as a government agency.Although a planned economy may be based on either centralized or decentralized forms of economic planning, it usually refers to a centrally planned economy.2.free enterpriseFree enterprise refers to the system of business in which individuals are free to decide what to produce, how to produce, and at what price to sell.Language Support1.Most academics today subscribe to the following modified version of AdamSmith’s theory:…(Para. 2)In the text, the phrase “subscribe to”means “agreeing with or supporting (an opinion, theory, etc.)”(同意;赞成).e.g. I subscribe to the idea that voting is my civic duty. She subscribes to the theory that some dinosaurs were warm-blooded andothers were cold-blooded.It can also refer to “paying money to get (a publication or service) regularly”(订阅).e.g. I subscribe to several magazines. We have subscribed to an evening newspaper.2.These constraints take a number of different forms. …Another set ofconstraints …(Para. 3)Two recent examples dramatically illustrate these points. First, …(Para. 3) Classification is employed to organize things into categories with a single organizing principle, and give examples of things that fit into each category. Here are other commonly-used words and expressions for classification:•The first (kind/type/group/class/etc.) …; the second …; the third …•sort, classify, categorize …•category, group, class, kind …3.Saving the financial system required a bailout of the banks and otherfinancial companies, and that bailout imposed huge costs on the taxpayers, and also helped push the economy into a deep recession. (Para. 5)impose sth. on sb.:i) force something on someone把......强加于e.g. He always imposes his opinion on others.ii) levy a tax or duty征税e.g. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kindof food. Here is another usage of the word “impose”:impose on sb.:i) force oneself on others强加于人e.g. Thanks for your offer to help, but I did not want to impose on you.ii) take unfair advantage of 利用e.g. Don’t you think you are imposing on your neighbor when you use histelephone for half an hour?4.be true to one’He is always true to his word and focused on the big picture.Ninety days later, true to his word, the goldsmith brought the crown.5.To date, Buffett has contributed more than $6 billion, and over time he isscheduled to contribute additional stock that is now worth in excess of $40 billion. (Para. 7)in excess of: greater than, more than 超过e.g. Luggage in excess of 100 kg will be charged extra. This plane can reach speeds in excess of 1000 kilometers an hour.Answer KeysCritical reading and thinkingTask 1 / Overview1The original version:The invisible hand; Profit maximization; Free enterprise systemThe modified version:the wealth of its stockholders; the best economic system; constraints2Argument 11) a wide range of regulations are imposed2) assessing costs on companies; BP oil spillArgument 21) behave ethically; value and reputation2) Don’t Be Evil3) creative capitalism4) contributed more than $6 billionTask 2 / Points for discussion (Suggested Answers)11) Yes, I agree. Because:• Earning profit is the main aim of every economic activity. A business is an economic activity and hence, its main aim should be to earn profit.• Profit is a measure of eff iciency and economic prosperity of the business. This justifies the concept of profit maximization.• Economic conditions do not remain the same all the time. A business can retain its profit so that it can survive the adverse situations in the future. Profit gives protection against future risks and uncertainties.• Profit is the main source of finance for growth and expansion. Profit is essential for the business in order to invest in new business propositions.• Profitability is essential for fulfilling the social goals of the business. With profit maximization a business can do socio-economic welfare and follow its policies of corporate social responsibility.2) No, I don’t agree. Because:Business should do anything they can to make a profit, but never at the cost of human welfare and natural environment. Human welfare must be considered as important as profit making. A business is successful to the extent that it provides a product that contributes to happiness in all forms. As a matter of fact, the great value of a business should be morally associated with consumer’s satisfaction and safety. On the other hand, businesses of great value should not be blind to their moral obligations of protecting the natural environment.2 Yes, it is a very effective way for society to impose such regulations to prevent companies from engaging in practices that hurt society. For most businesses their ultimate goal is to make profits. It is true that most businessmen try to abide by the laws while making profits. However we have to admit that there are some who use every means to make as much money as possible, even regardless of the interests ofemployees, communities, and environment. Therefore, the regulations such as penalties and suspension for internal rectification should be imposed to deter companies from unlawful practices.3 Yes, having a good reputation with customers, suppliers, employees and regulators is essential if value is to be maximized. Business success is associated with many entities, such as customers, suppliers, employees and regulators. If customers are satisfied with your products and service, they will be loyal to your company. If suppliers provide you with qualified products, your business will operate well. If employees are treated well, they will work very hard and are willing to be part of your company. If regulators are certain that your company acts fairly and follows rules, your company will develop sustainably. All above depends on whether the business is continually operating with society’s interests in mind and maintaining a good reputation.Language building-upAnswer keysTask 1 / Specialized vocabulary11 纳税人2 自由企业制度3 股东4 经济体制5 市场力量;市场调节作用6 金融机构7 stock price 8 mission9 corporate motto 10 assets11 profit maximization 12 financial system21 financial institutions2 free enterprise system3 assets4 Taxpayers5 stockholder6 profit maximization7 economic system 8 market forcesTask 2 / Academic vocabulary1. principal2. dramatically3. academics4. maximization5. framework6. range7. compensate 8. transfer9. inadequate 10. constraintsTask 3 / Collocations1. subscribe to2. striving to3. imposing …on4. go out of business5. as a whole6. engaged in7. go hand in hand with 8. in excess ofTask 4 / Formal English1 insights2 subscribe to3 imposes4 adverse5 mission6 philanthropic7 donated 8 famedTranslation of Text A达到适当的平衡在1776年,亚当·斯密描述了一只“看不见的手”是如何引导企业追求利润的,而这只手会引导企业做出有利于社会的决策。

1Hello everybody, today I'm going to read you a story from our academic English textbook, unit 3. It's called "The Importance of Recycling". Let's get started! In our world, there are many things that we use every day, like paper, plastic, and glass. But do you know what happens to these things after we throw them away? That's where recycling comes in! Recycling is when we take used materials and turn them into new things. It's like giving old things a second chance to be useful again.Recycling is important for many reasons. One reason is that it helps to protect the environment. When we recycle, we save energy and reduce pollution. This means that we can help to keep our air and water clean for plants, animals, and humans.Another reason why recycling is important is that it helps to save natural resources. By reusing materials like paper and metal, we can prevent the need to cut down more trees or mine moreminerals from the earth. This is good for our planet because it helps to preserve our resources for future generations. So, next time you're done with a piece of paper or a plastic bottle, remember to put it in the recycling bin instead of the trash. By doing this simple act, you can help to make a big difference in the world. Let's all do our part to protect the environment and save our planet!I hope you enjoyed the story and learned something new about recycling. Remember, small actions can make a big impact. She was a really smart lady who discovered two new elements called radium and polonium. Can you believe that? She won two Nobel Prizes for her amazing work in chemistry and physics. Wow, what a superstar!Marie Curie faced a lot of challenges in her life, but she never gave up. She was determined to keep learning and exploring the world of science. She even set up a research institute to help other scientists study radiation. She was definitely a role model for all of us.In the text, it also talks about the dangers of working with radiation. Marie Curie was exposed to radiation for many years, and unfortunately, it made her really sick. That's why it's so important for scientists to be careful when they're working with dangerous materials.I think Marie Curie's story is really inspiring. She showed us that with hard work and determination, we can achieve amazing things. I hope we can all learn from her example and never stop pursuing our dreams. So that's the text from Unit 3. I hope you enjoyed it! Let's all be like Marie Curie and keep pushing ourselves to reach new heights in our studies. See you next time! Bye!篇3Unit 3 Lesson 1: What Are Animals Like?Hey guys! Today we're gonna learn about animals in Unit 3 of our Science class! Animals are super cool, right? They come in all shapes and sizes, and live in different places. Let's dive into the world of animals and explore what they are like!First, we have mammals. Mammals are animals that have hair or fur on their bodies. They also give birth to live babies and feed them with milk. Examples of mammals are dogs, cats, and monkeys. They are so cute and fluffy!Next up, we have birds. Birds have feathers, beaks, and lay eggs. They also have wings that help them fly in the sky. Birds come in all colors and sizes, from tiny hummingbirds to big, majestic eagles. It's amazing to see them soar through the air! Then, we have reptiles. Reptiles are animals that have scales, and some of them have shells or plates. They lay eggs on land and most of them are cold-blooded, which means their body temperature changes with their environment. Examples of reptiles are snakes, turtles, and crocodiles. They might look scary, but they're actually pretty cool! After that, we have amphibians. Amphibians are animals that live both on land and in water. They have moist skin and most of them lay eggs in water. Frogs and salamanders are examples of amphibians. They can jump really high and swim super fast!Last but not least, we have fish. Fish have fins, scales, and gills that help them breathe underwater. They come in all kinds of shapes, colors, and sizes. From tiny goldfish to giant whales, fish are truly fascinating creatures of the sea.Wow, learning about animals is so much fun, right? They have different features and behaviors that make them unique. So next time you see an animal, take a moment to appreciate how amazing they are! Keep exploring the world of animals, and let's continue to learn and grow together. Stay curious and keep on shining bright like the stars! See you next time, bye!篇4Hello everyone, today I'm going to share with you the text from Unit 3 of the book "Academic English for Science and Engineering Second Edition". Let's get started! The text is all about renewable energy, which is super important for the environment. It talks about different types of renewable energy like wind power, solar power, and hydropower. These are all sources of clean energy that don't harm the planet like fossil fuels do.Did you know that wind power is created by wind turbines? They look like big fans and they spin around to generateelectricity. Solar power comes from the sun, which is pretty cool. And hydropower is made from water flowing through dams to create energy.Renewable energy is great because it's sustainable, which means we can keep using it without running out. Plus, it helps to reduce pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, which is awin-win for the planet!I hope you learned something new from this text. Let's all do our part to support renewable energy and take care of our Earth. Thanks for listening!篇5Unit 3 Our EarthHi everyone, today let's learn about our Earth! Our Earth is a super cool place filled with all kinds of amazing things. It's the planet we live on, and we need to take care of it.First, let's talk about the Earth's crust. The Earth's crust is like the outer skin of our planet. It's made up of different layers and it's super tough. Sometimes the Earth's crust moves around, causing earthquakes and volcanoes. It's important to be prepared for these natural disasters.Next, let's talk about the Earth's atmosphere. The Earth's atmosphere is the air around us. It's made up of different gases like oxygen and carbon dioxide. Plants need carbon dioxide to photosynthesize and give us oxygen to breathe. So, it's really important to take care of our plants and trees. Now, let's talk about the Earth's water. The Earth has lots of water in the oceans, rivers, lakes, and even in the air as clouds. Water is super important for all living things, like plants and animals. We should all try to save water and not waste it.Last but not least, let's talk about the Earth's resources. The Earth gives us so many resources like minerals, metals, and fossil fuels. It's important to use these resources wisely and not waste them. We should also try to find renewable sources of energy, like solar and wind power. In conclusion, our Earth is an amazing place that we need to take care of. Let's all do our part to protect our planet and make it a better place for future generations. Remember, we only have one Earth, so let's cherish it and keep it clean and healthy. Thank you for listening!篇6Unit 3Hello everyone, today we are going to learn about a new unit in our Science and Technology textbook. In this unit, we will explore the topic of the Earth's atmosphere and weather. The atmosphere is like a big blanket that surrounds the Earth. It is made up of different gases like nitrogen, oxygen, and carbon dioxide. These gases are important because they help to keep the Earth warm and protect us from harmful rays from the sun.Have you ever wondered why it rains or snows? Well, it's all because of the weather! The weather is made up of different factors like temperature, humidity, and air pressure. When these factors change, it can cause different types of weather like rain, wind, or snow.Do you know what a thermometer is used for? It's a tool that measures the temperature of the air. Scientists use thermometers to help them study the weather and predict what it will be like in the future.Another important tool that scientists use is a barometer. This measures the air pressure, which can tell us if a storm is coming or if the weather will be clear and sunny. So, the next time you look up at the sky, remember that there is a lot happening in the atmosphere above us. By learningabout the Earth's atmosphere and weather, we can better understand the world around us. Isn't that cool? Let's keep exploring and learning more about science and technology!篇7Hello everyone! Today, I'm going to share with you the text from the book "Academic English for Science and Engineering Second Edition Unit 3". It's all about different kinds of energy and how they are used in our daily lives. Let's get started! The first type of energy we will talk about is mechanical energy. Mechanical energy is the energy that an object has because of its motion or position. For example, when you kick a soccer ball, the energy from your leg is transferred to the ball, causing it to move. It's like magic, but it's actually science!Next up is thermal energy. Thermal energy is the energy that comes from heat. When you cook food on the stove, the heat is transferred from the stove to the food, making it hot and yummy. Without thermal energy, we wouldn't be able to cook our favorite meals or stay warm in the winter. Now, let's talk about electrical energy. Electrical energy is the energy that comes from the flow of electrons. It powers ourphones, computers, and lights. Can you imagine a world without electricity? It would be so boring and dark!Last but not least, we have chemical energy. Chemical energy is the energy stored in the bonds between atoms and molecules. When you eat food, your body breaks down the chemical bonds to release energy, which gives you the energy to run and play. So, there you have it! Different types of energy that make our world go round. Remember, energy is all around us and it's up to us to use it wisely. Thanks for listening, and I hope you learned something new today!篇8Unit 3 Lesson 1: Living ThingsHey there! Today we are going to learn all about living things. Living things are everywhere around us. Plants, animals, and even you and me are all living things!Plants are living things that make their own food through a process called photosynthesis. They use sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to make their own food. Plants also help us breathe by releasing oxygen into the air.Animals are another type of living thing. They need to eat food to survive. Some animals eat plants, some animals eat other animals, and some eat both! Animals also move around and grow, just like us.Humans are also living things. We need to eat, drink, breathe, and sleep to stay healthy. We have different organs in our bodies that help us do these things. Our heart pumps blood, our lungs help us breathe, and our brain helps us think and learn. There are so many different living things in the world, big and small. Some live on land, some live in the water, and some even fly in the sky! Living things come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. So, next time you see a plant, an animal, or even yourself in the mirror, remember that we are all living things. Let's take care of each other and the environment around us. Happy learning!篇9Unit 3 SharingHello everyone! Today, we are going to learn about sharing. Sharing is a very important thing to do because it makes otherpeople happy. When you share with others, you are being kind and thoughtful.Sharing can be done in many ways. You can share your toys with your friends, share your snacks with your classmates, or share your ideas with your family. By sharing, you are showing that you care about others and that you are willing to help them. When you share, you are also learning how to cooperate and work together. Sharing helps build strong relationships and friendships. It also teaches you to be generous and considerate. In school, we share things all the time. We share our pencils and erasers with our classmates. We share our books and papers with our friends. We also share our knowledge and ideas with our teachers and classmates.Sharing is not just about giving things away. It is also about listening and being open to other people's ideas. When you share, you are creating a positive and supportive environment. So, let's remember to share with others and show them kindness and respect. Let's work together and make the world a better place for everyone. Share the love and spread happiness! Thank you for listening and remember, sharing is caring!篇10Unit 3 Our EnvironmentHi everyone, today we're going to learn about our environment! Our environment is super important because it's where we live and play every day. We want to keep our environment clean and healthy so that we can all be happy and safe.First, let's talk about air pollution. Air pollution is when there are dirty things in the air that can hurt our lungs and make us sick. Some things that cause air pollution are cars, factories, and even just burning things like trash. We can help reduce air pollution by walking or biking instead of driving, and by picking up trash so it doesn't get burned.Next, let's chat about water pollution. Water pollution happens when dirty things get into our rivers, lakes, and oceans. This can make the water unsafe for us to drink and for animals to live in. We can help prevent water pollution by not dumping chemicals down the drain and by picking up trash near water sources.Lastly, let's touch on land pollution. Land pollution is when we litter and leave trash on the ground instead of throwing it away properly. This can harm animals and plants that live in the environment. We can help stop land pollution by alwaysthrowing our trash in the trash cans and by recycling things like bottles and cans.Remember, it's super duper important to take care of our environment so that it stays clean and healthy for all of us. Let's work together to make our world a better place!。

Usually the aesthetic qualities of organic skeletons can only be appreciated after the organism’s death, unless the creature has an exoskeleton, such as lobsters, crabs and spiders. Conversely man-made structures, such as buildings, display their supporting structures as they are built. The skeletonised leaves often found underneath holly bushes display the intricacy and delicacy of natural structures. The composition of any artwork is fundamental to the strength and impact of the finished piece. It has been known for many centuries that the application of certain mathematical rules can assist and enhance the aesthetic qualities of the work. The Golden Ratio or Golden Section has been used since the age of the Pharaohs to establish order in art and architecture. More recently, the architecture of the Eden Project was designed to embrace these rules, which were formulated by the 13th century mathematician Fibonacci. The concept driving this design was to link the actual fabric of the buildings to the natural order of the plant collections they house.Product designers frequently encounter the dilemma of form versus function. If the aesthetic qualities of a design render the item unsuitable for purpose, a compromise has to be established. Many designers have discovered that a natural visual beauty manifests itself when form is purely driven by function, as in the shape of the classic Chinese export teapots of the 18th century. It is interesting to compare these with the whimsical semi-functional novelty teapots of James Sadler.Latest technology is allowing artists and architects to create objects that seem to defy gravity and achieve enormous scale and impact. Buildings such as The Shard in London and Burj Khalifa in Dubai soar to incredible heights and embrace the latest in safety features to withstand weather and earth tremors. Similarly, sculptors such as Damien Hirst, Ron Mueck and Antony Gormley can create gigantic pieces using resins and the latest technology in casting. Here are some other suggestions that may stimulate your imagination:• P ine cones, pineapples, grapevines, hops, ivy, bindweed • S crapyards, building sites, cranes, restoration yards, derelict ruins • C rystals, molecules, geology, fossils, footprints, tracks • S tadiums, orchestras, rock concerts, floodlights, staircases • M otorways, railways, runways, dockyards • F lowers, plants, trees, fungi, algae, feathers, scales, shells • N ests of weaver birds, wasps and bees, termite mounds, baskets • C ircuit boards, pipework, telephone poles, towers, pylons, skyscrapers • S hop displays, escalators, bars, libraries, theatres and cinemas • G ardens, parks, playgrounds, swimming pools, beaches • Dolls, mannequins, puppets, cuddly toys, LegoBLANK PAGE4P48523A5P48523A Turn overTitle: 8AD0/02 Art, Craft and DesignThe starting points in this paper may help you form ideas. The illustrator Ernst Haeckel saw symmetry and perfection in the structures of microscopic forms such as diatoms. Bones, seeds, shells and many other natural forms have inspired artists such asAnya Gallaccio, Graham Sutherland, Angie Lewin and Peter Randall-Page.RM Rock Photography7P48523A Turn overShortly after the chaos of the First World War Kurt Schwitters made Cubist inspired collages from carefully selected scraps of rubbish. He wrote ‘Everything had broken down in any case and new things had to be made out of the fragments’. This concept inspired many other artists to create work from fragments and unexpected materials. The work of Robert Rauschenberg, Richard Hamilton, Jessica Stockholder, Eva Hesse and Sigmar Polkeare good examples of this approach.(Source: © Heritage Image Partnership Ltd / Alamy Stock Photo)Kurt Schwitters The Psychiatrist collage8P48523AA sense of male domination and patriarchy is blatantly obvious in Ingres’ Jupiter and Thetis . Thetis pleads with Jupiter, impassive and all-powerful, to spare the life of her son Achilles. Ingres’ painting reflected the authoritarian Napoleonic code of the early 19th century. Many critics and artists, from John Berger to the Guerrilla Girls and Sarah Lucas, would argue that not enough has changed in today’s social structures.Ingres Jupiter and Thetis painting9P48523A Turn overMan-made structures have long fascinated artists in a variety of ways. The soft colours of crumbling walls and dilapidated streets inspired Utrillo and Tàpies whilst Turner, Monet and Derain were excited by the atmosphere and light surrounding the Houses of Parliament. Bruegel’s Tower of Babel and Piranesi’s Carceri series imagined immense dark structures that explore themes of human folly and disturbed states of mind. Franz Kline and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva painted abstracted webs, grids and networks fromstructures such as pylons and street patterns.(Source: © EyeEm / Alamy Stock Photo)Low Angle View of London Eye Against Sky photographFurther contextual references for this title 8FA0/02 can be found at /en/home.html10P48523A Title: 8GC0/02 Graphic CommunicationThe starting points in this paper may help you form ideas. Please read the whole paper as any section may provide you with inspiration. The composition and structure of much graphic design continues to be influenced by the principles laid down by Piet Mondrian who was heavily involved with the Neo-plasticism movement. His dissections of the rectangle, one of the commonest graphic forms, create the framework behind many commercial designs. Many designers explore this concept of converting organic structures into linear abstract forms, subsequently using these as a foundation for design layouts. A good example of this is Lucienne Day’s work fromthe 1950s.(Source: V&A Images / Alamy Stock Photo)Lucienne Day Calyx Furnishing Fabric fabricComplex packaging shapes and commercial products present opportunities for graphic designers to exploit the distortions created by the curves and angles of these objects. Bottles, cartons, DVDs, cars, boats and helmets are just a few examples of these products. Wraps for vehicles exploit the latest in transfer technology to spectacular effect.Nirvana Custom Helmet Wrapgraphic wrapThe structure of web page design has progressed through some fascinating changes since the introduction of interactive graphics. Some web pages really challenge the user to find access to the information with sophisticated navigational devices. This involves the user and stimulates their interest, almost making a game out of their pages.84.ParisBecause Recollection Web Home PagedesignMany children’s books are built around the strength of the illustrations, with the storyline woven between the powerful imagery that forms the structure and page layout of the publication. Good examples of this are: Dave McKean’s The Wolves in the Walls, Helen Oxenbury’s We Are Going on a Bear Hunt and Axel Scheffler’s The Gruffalo.Dave McKeanThe Wolves in the Wallsbook illustrationFurther contextual references for this title 8GC0/02 can be found at/en/home.htmlThe starting points in this paper may help you form ideas. Some shapes tessellate or interweave with relative ease and allow for the construction of intricate and exotic repeat patterns. The most effective of these derive from close observation of the original subjects. Artists such as M.C. Escher, William Morris and Adey Thani have all exploited this approach.(Source: © Avico Ltd / Alamy Stock Photo)Goldfish ShoalphotographThe form and shape of functional objects that employ fabric coverings provide exciting opportunities for textile designers. Umbrellas, sofas, lampshades and cushions are just a few of the everyday furnishings that offer unique curves, triangles and other geometric shapes. Creating designs that enhance and work with each unique shape presents interesting challenges. Dwell Studio’s Parlour Bold Chair illustrates this potential, along with Jonathan Adler’s fabrics for Kravet.Dwell StudioParlour Bold Chairupholstery fabricThe unique surface qualities and structure of fibre-based materials have always appealed to sculptors who exploit the three-dimensional nature of fabrics. Often the line between textile design and fine art is blurred, as the work could fall into either category. The body’s angles and projectionsare often exaggerated and emphasised. Sylvio Giardina and Mary Katrantzou’s Autumn/ Winter 2013 collections illustrate this approach. For instance, with Everything but the manual he invites the buyer to play with the modular wooden pegs and explore new variations. The illustrated piece below is a light that could be a humorous version of Tatlin’s Tower. Philippe Starck’s designs for Alessi have a similar philosophy where function is superseded by fun and chic desirability.Studio David GraasSuggestion #2 (lamp) Everything but the manuallampThe form of a pyramid has been used in an unusual way by Kleenex in a recent packaging design. Its range of tissues Perfect Slice of Summer are dispensed from a box in the shape of a slice of watermelon. Korean designer Jang WooSeok has an alternative, youthful approach to packaging liquids. In my work I strive for complex integration of both principles.’ Herb Greene’s Prairie House is an outlandish example of this fusion in architecture. It has been described as looking like a cross between German Expressionist set design and a bear roaming the plains.Herb GreenePrairie HousearchitectureTitle: 8TD0/02 Three-Dimensional DesignScandinavian design has been characterised by simple clean lines and often minimalist, nature‐inspired forms that are highly functional and of high quality. Tapio Wirkkalaand Wilhelm Kåge created beautiful ceramics inspired by natural forms of leaves and flowers. Tord Boontje to some extent breaks this stereotype, with a florid profusion of ornamentation in pieces such as Naturalist Garland Light, although somehow Scandinavian good taste and restraint are not completely lost.Tapio WirkkalatableTord BoontjelightFurther contextual references for this title 8TD0/02 can be found at/en/home.htmlThe starting points in this paper may help you form ideas. Her work explores the visual ambiguities of shadow, space, shape, colour and reflection. ③ The roadmap is essentially the beginning of a beginning. The negotiations to come have a specific end date — 2009 — and for the first time, dismantles what the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change executive secretary called “the Berlin Wall of climate change”, the idea that only the rich nations need to take responsibility for fighting global warming. Both developed countries and developing countries have signed up to the climate change fight.

④ The two sides still have different responsibilities, with developed nations ready to take on more quantifiable emissions cuts, and developing nations preparing to take on less specific national actions, but no country is left behind. That matters because the majority of future carbon emissions will come from the developing world, and no climate deal can work without the participation of the developing nations. “The developing nations of the south are on the same road as the North,” says the director for the climate and air program for Environmental Defense. “They’re using the same roadmap.”

Passage 1: The Future of Sustainable Energy•Word Count: 250In recent years, there has been a growing focus on sustainable energy and its role in addressing climate change. Governments and industries around the world are investing in renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power. These sources of energy are abundant and can be harnessed without causing significant harm to the environment.Solar power is obtained from the sun’s rays and can be converted into electricity or used directly for heating and lighting purposes. It is considered one of the most promising forms of renewable energy due to its availability and low environmental impact.Another source of renewable energy is wind power, which is generated by the wind’s kinetic energy. Wind turbines can convert this energy into electricity, which can then be used to power homes, businesses, and even entire cities. Wind power is particularly effective in areas with strong and consistent winds. In addition to solar and wind power, other forms of sustainable energy include hydropower, biomass, and geothermal energy. Hydropower harnesses the energy of flowing or falling water to generate electricity, while biomass uses organic matter such as wood or agriculturalwaste to produce energy. Geothermal energy utilizes the heat from the Earth’s core to generate po wer.As the world continues to search for cleaner and more sustainable energy sources, the future of renewable energy looks promising. With advancements in technology and increased investment in research and development, we can expect to see even greater utilization of renewable energy in the near future.2.
