块 7. bury one's head in one's hands 手捂着脸
8. stick one's head out 探头
9. rest one's head on hands
10. throw one's head back 后仰

专题限时训练(三十)[社会生活型阅读理解(二)](限时:25分钟)(一)Someday a stranger will read your e-mail without your permission or scan the websites you’ve visited.Or perhaps someone will casually glance through your credit card purchases or cell phone bills to find out your shopping preferences or calling habits.In fact,it’s likely some of these things have already happened to you.Who would watch you without your permission? It might be a girlfriend,a marketing company, a boss,a policeman or a criminal.Whoever it is,they will see you in a way you never intended to be seen—the 21st century equal to being caught naked(裸露的).Psychologists tell us boundaries are healthy, though it’s important to reveal(透露)yourself to friends,family and lovers in stages,at appropriate times.Actually few boundaries remain.The digital breadcrumbs(面包屑)you leave everywhere make it easy for strangers to reconstruct who you are,where you are and what you like.In some cases,a simple Google search can reveal what you think.Like it or not,increasinglywe_live_in_a_world_where_you_simply_cannot_keep_a_secret. The key question is:Does that matter? For many Americans, the answer apparently is “no”.When opinion polls ask Americans about privacy, most say they are concerned about losing it.A survey found a majority of people are pessimistic about privacy, with 60 percent of respondents saying they feel their privacy is slipping away, and that bothers them.()2.What would psychologists advise on the relationships between friends?A.There should be a distance even between friends.B.There should be fewer quarrels between friends.C.Friends should always be faithful to each other.D.Friends should open their hearts to each other.()3.Why does the author say“we live in a world where you simply cannot keep a secret”?A.There are always people who are curious about others’ affairs.B.Many search engines profit by revealing people’s identities.C.People leave traces around when using modern technology.D.Modern society has finally developed into an open society.()4.What do most Americans do with regard to privacy protection?A.They change behaviors that might disclose their identity.B.They talk a lot but hardly do anything about it.C.They rely more and more on electronic equipment.D.They use various loyalty cards for business deals.()5.According to the passage,privacy is like health in that ________.A.its importance is rarely understoodB.it is something that can easily be lostC.people will make every effort to keep itD.people don’t treasure it until they lose it(二)Since we are social beings, the quality of our lives depends in large measure on our interpersonal relationships.One strength of the human condition is our tendency to give and receive support from one another under stressful circumstances.Social support consists of the exchange of resources among people based on their interpersonal ties.Those of us with strong support systems appear better able to cope with major life changes and daily hassles(困难).People with strong social ties live longer and have better health than those without such ties.Studies over a range of illnesses, from depression to heart disease, reveal that the presence of social support helps people fend off(挡开) illness, and the absence of such support makes poor health more likely.Social support cushions stress in a number of ways.First, friends, relatives, and co-workers may let us know that they value us.Our self-respect is strengthened when we feel accepted by other despite our faults and difficulties.Second, other people often provide us with informational support.They help us to define and understand our problems and find solutions to them. Third, we typically find social companionship supportive.Engaging in leisure-time activities with others helps us to meet our social needs while at the same time distracting(转移……注意力) us from our worries and troubles.Finally, other people may give us instructive support—financial aid, material resources, and needed services—that reduces stress by helping us resolve and cope with our problems.()1.Interpersonal relationships are important because ________.A.they are indispensable(不可缺少的) to people’s social well-being B.they awaken people’s desire to exchange resourcesC.they help people to cope with life in the information ageD.they can cure a range of illnesses such as heart disease, etc.()2.Research shows that people’s physical and mental health________.A.relies on the social welfare system which support themB.has much to so with the amount of support they get from others C.depends on their ability to deal with daily worries and troubles D.is closely related to their strength for coping with major changes in their lives()3.Which of the following is closest in meaning to the word “cushions”(Line 1,para.2) ?A.Adds up to.B.Does away with.C.Lessens the effect of.D.Lays the foundation of.()4.Helping a sick neighbor with some repair work is an example of________.A.informational supportB.instructive supportC.social companionshipD.the strengthening of self-respect()5.Social companionship is beneficial in that ________.A.it helps strengthen our ties with relativesB.it enables us to eliminate our faults and mistakesC.it makes our leisure-time activities more enjoyableD.it draws our attention away from our worries and troubles(三)Some years ago industries had more freedom than they have now,and they did not need to be as careful as they must today.They did not need to worry a lot about the safety of the new products that they developed.They did not have to pay much attention to the health and safety of the people who worked for them.Often new products were dangerous for the people who used them;often conditions in the work place had very bad effects on the health of the workers.Of course sometimes there were real disasters(灾难) which attracted the attention of governments and which showed the need for changes.Also scientists who were doing research into the health of workers sometimes produced information which governments could not ignore.At such times, there were inquiries into the causes of the disasters or the problems.New safety rules were often introduced as a result of these inquiries;however, the new rules came too late to protect the people who died or who became seriously ill.Today many governments have special departments which protect customers and workers.In the U.S., for example, there is a department which tests new airplanes and gives warnings about possible problems.It also makes the rules that aircraft producers must follow.Another department controls the foods and drugs that companies sell.A third department looks at the places where people work,and then reports any companies that are breaking the laws which protect the health and safetyof workers.Of course,new government departments and new laws cannot prevent every accident or illness,but they are having some good results.Our work places are safer and cleaner than before.The planes and cars which we use for travel are better.Producers are thinking more about the safety and health of the people who buy and use their products.()1.The main topic of the passage is________.A.conditions in the work placeB.the freedom of industries in the pastC.changes in industrial productionD.the safety and health of workers and customers()2.It can be inferred from the passage that in the past________.A.workers often got ill because of the poor working conditionsB.companies were free to put out any products they wanted toC.many people were killed by dangerous productsD.industries were as careful in management as they are today()3.It is implied in the passage that________.A.governments and companies had different opinions about the safety of productsB.governments paid little attention to the safety of productsC.government officials often did not listen to scientistsD.in the past no safety laws were introduced by governments()4.Some years ago safety rules________.A.were put forward due to scientists’ recommendationsB.came into being as a result of the work ers’ demandsC.were introduced because quite a number of people were killed or seriously injuredD.were effective enough to protect workers and customers()5.The special departments protect customers and workers in many ways EXCEPT by________.A.testing new productsB.controlling the sale of productsC.designing new productsD.inspecting work places专题限时训练(三十)(一)1.D推理判断题。

Without taking time to reflect, I answered, "Because someday I might say something that might make a difference in someone's life." Even though I was sincere, that wasn't a very good answer and my student didn't let it slide."Let me get this straight," he said, "You went to college for four years so you could come here every day because you have the hope that someday you might say something that will influence someone?" He shook his head as if I were crazy and walked away looking confused. I'm one of those people who look back and wish they had said something smart or witty,or swift.Even though that particular student might no longer wonder why I teach, there are days when I wonder. On those days, I remind myself of the real reasons I teach:It's in my blood. My mother was my most influential teacher, and she was a 6th grade reading teacher until her death in 1990. She instilled(逐渐灌输) in me a love of reading and the knowledge that education opens doors.Teaching is a way to make a difference. Life is full of ups and downs, and if I can help students avoid some potholes on the road of life, I want to do so. But no two shows are more opposite in content, while at the same time standing out above the rest, than the Jerry Springer and Oprah Winfrey shows.Jerry Springer could easily be considered the king of "rubbish talk". The topics on his show are as surprising as can be. For example, the show takes the ever-common talk show titles of love, sex, cheating, and hate, to a different level. Clearly, the Jerry Springer show is about the dark side of society, yet people are willing to eat up the troubles of other people's lives.Like Jerry Springer, Oprah Winfrey takes the TV talk show to its top. But Oprah goes in the opposite direction. The show is mainly about the improvement of society and different quality of life. Contents are from teaching your children lessons, managing your work week, to getting to know your neighbors.Compared to Oprah, the Jerry Springer show looks like poisonous waste being poured into society. Jerry ends every show with a "final word". He makes a small speech about the entire idea of the show. Hopefully, this is the part where most people will learn something very valuable. Clean as it is, the Oprah show is not for everyone. The show's main audience are middle-class Americans. Most of the people have the time, money and ability to deal with life's tough problems. Jerry Springer, on the other hand, has more of a connection with the young adults of society. These are 18-to 21year-olds whose main troubles in life include love, relationship, sex, money and drug. They are the ones who see some value and lessons to be learned through the show's exploitation.46. Compared with other TV talk shows, both the Jerry Springer and the Oprah Winfrey shows are ______.A. more interestingB. unusually poplarC. more detailedD. more formal47. Though the social problems Jerry Springer talks about appear unpleasant, people who watch the shows ______.A. show disbelief in themB. are ready to face up to themC. remain cold to themD. are willing to get away from them48. Which of the following is likely to be a topic of the Oprah Winfrey show?A. A new type of robot.B. National hatred.C. Family income planning.D. Street accident.49. We can learn from the passage that the two talk shows ____.A. have become the only ones of its kindB. exploit the weaknesses in human natureC. appear at different times of the dayD. attract differentpeople50. What is the advantage of the Jerry Springer show?A. The show exposes the dark sides of society.B. The show pours poisonous waste into society.C. Jerry sums up the whole idea of the show.D. Jerry talks abou the improvement of society.CCan people change their skin colour without suffering like pop king Michael Jackson? Perhaps yes. Scientists have found the gene that determines skin colour.The gene comes in two versions, one of which is found in 99 per cent of Europeans. The other is found in 93 to 100 per cent of Africans, researchers at Pennsylvania State University report in the latest issue of Science.Scientists have changed the colour of a dark-striped zebrafish to uniform gold by inserting a version of the pigment(色素) gene into a young fish. As with humans, zebrafish skin colour is determined by pigment cells, which contain melanosomes(黑色素). The number, size and darkness of melanosomes per pigment cell determines skin colour.It appears that, like the golden zebrafish, light-skinned Europeans also have a mutation(变异) in the gene for melanosome production. This results in less pigmented skin.However, Keith Cheng, leader of the research team, points out that the mutation is different in human and zebrafish genes.Humans acquired dark skin in Africa about 1.5 million years ago to protect bodies from ultra-violet rays of the sun(太阳光紫外线), which can cause skin cancer.But when modern humans leave Africa to live in northern latitudes, they need more sunlight on their skin to produce vitamin D. So the related gene changes, according to Cheng.Asians have the same version of the gene as Africans, so they probably acquired their light skin through the action of some other gene that affects skin colour, said Cheng.The new discovery could lead to medical treatments for skin cancer. It also could lead to research into ways to change skin colour without damaging it like chemical treatment did on Michael Jackson.51. The passage mainly tells us that ________.A. people can not change their skin colour without any painB. the new discovery could lead to search into ways to change skin colour safelyC. pop king Michael Jackson often changed his skin colour as he likedD. scientists have found out that people’s skin colour is determined by the gene52. It can be inferred from the passage that ________.A. nowadays people who want to change their skin colour have to suffer a lot from the damage caused by the chemical treatmentB. Europeans and Africans have the same geneC. the new discovery could help to find medical treatments for skin cancerD. there are two kinds of genes53. Scientists have done an experiment on a dark-striped zebra fish in order to ________.A. find the different genes of humans’B. prove the human s’ skin colour is determined by the pigment geneC. find out the reason why the African s’ skin colour is darkD. find out the ways of changing peopl’s skin colour54. The reason why Europeans are light-skinned is probably that ________.A. they are born light-skinned peopleB. light-skinned Europeans have mutation in the gen for melanosome productionC. they have fewer activities outsideD. they pay much attention to protecting their skin55.

不妨设,O A a O B b ==
;找共线,对于点P 在直线AB 上,有A P A B λ= ;列方程,因此有
A P A O O P =+ 2a t P A t b =-++ ,即12a tb
AP t -+=
+ ;而AB AO OB a b =+=-+ ,即有1

∴c c =2
||•c a x a )3(2||22-+=•b 222||)3(b x -+10624+-=x x 。
∵||c ≤10,∴10624+-x x ≤10,解得6-≤x ≤6。
又∵d c ⊥,∴c •0=d 。
而c •])3([2
