大家相信嗎 That's OK. 和 OK. 指的是完全不同的意思喔. 如果別人問你要不要先洗個澡啊 你答, That's OK. 就是不要的意思, 答 OK. 卻是要的意思. 像我剛來美國時因為不信邪, 結果每次都耍寶. 記得有一次老美來我家作客, 我問他, Do you need something to drink 他說 That's OK. 我想 OK. 就是好的意思啊, 當然趕緊把茶水奉上, 老美一臉莫名其妙的表情. 其實我這是錯誤的示範. 要記住, 當別人說, That's OK. 就表示 I'm fine. 我很好, 你不用操心的意思, 言下之意就是你不9;s OK. 其實有沒關係, 無所謂的味道在裏面. 所以如果你要明確的拒絕的話, 可以這麼說, That's OK. I don't need anything to drink.

我們需要先洗個澡嗎
Hit 是一個老美很喜歡用, 但老中很不會用的動詞, hit 指的是去開始作某件事. 像是在口語中老美喜歡講, Let's hit it. 的意思. 例如搖滾樂團的主唱常會看看吉他手, 鍵盤手, 貝斯手準備好了沒, 如果大家都準備好了的話, 他就會大喊一聲, Let's hit it. 這就代表 Let's go. 的意思.
如果是這個壞習慣大到會影響別人, 像是在公共場所老是講話很大聲, 這就不是 pet peeve, 而要用 annoying 來形容. 例如我就常聽老美抱怨, Don't you think he is annoying (你不覺得他很煩嗎)

Bush孟由于粗心，在工作中出了大篓子，为此，美国经理批评了他们整个小组，并且让他们小组在三天内把这个项目计划重新做一遍。
经理走后，下面是一片抱怨声，Bush孟为此很内疚，知道是自己连累了大家。
于是他到经理办公室去承认错误。

小编心语：Buck原意是雄鹿，但是这里指刀柄是鹿角做成的猎刀。
在早年的美国西部，这种猎刀几乎人手一把。
牌桌的规矩是轮流坐庄发牌，打完一副牌就轮到坐在发牌人左边的那位继续发牌。
为了不搞错，人们就在牌桌上传递一把猎刀帮助记忆。
发完牌的人就把猎刀传给下一个发牌人，也就是pass the buck，意思是把发牌的责任交给他了。
从pass the buck我们可以推测the buck stops here是什么意思。
这句话直译是：这把猎刀就留在我这儿，不传给别人了。
也就是说责任或罪责由我一人承担。

Jenny花上午接到一份英文传真，她研究了很长时间也没看懂，于是她去请教她的一位美国同事。
这位同事看了几分钟后对Jenny花说：”It’s just doubleDutch to you. There are lots of generic terms about communication technology. Don’t lose heart.” Jenny花听后一副很茫然的表情，心想：”两个荷兰，什么意思呢？”于是问道：”Double Dutch? Aren’t the fax relatedto Dutch?”〖英文小剧场〗May: Gucci, I don’t understand this passage. Could you do me a favor?阿美：古奇，这篇文章我看不懂，你能帮帮我吗？Gucci: It’s just double Dutch to you. There are lots of ge neric terms about communication technology. Don’t lose heart.古奇：这个对你来说犹如天书，这里面有很多通信技术方面的专业词汇，别灰心。
小编心语：Double Dutch不是荷兰人发明的，它最初源于美国。
该运动要求跳绳者需跳过由摇绳者交错摇动，呈反方向弧线的两根绳子。
很明显，对不亲自尝试的门外汉而言，这种高难度的花式跳绳实在是”花”，有点让人摸不着头脑。
另一种说法是源于17世纪的Anglo-Dutch Wars，那时在英语中，很多怪异的事物都被称之为Dutch。
由此，double Dutch由最初的”花式跳绳”延伸至日常生活中的”不知所云”。
