One expert says that depression is like cancer because it is “widespread, costly and deadly”. Depression hits one person in five around the world. Over any six-month period, between five to seven percent of the world's population will be suffering from a serious depression.A recent research shows that the more teenagers watch television, the more likely they are to develop depression as young adults. The researchers used a nationwide long-term survey of teenage health to investigate(调查) the relationship between media(传播媒介) use and depression. They based their findings on more than four thousand teenagers who were not depressed when the survey began in 2000.As part of the survey, the young people were asked how many hours of television or videos they watched daily. They were also asked how often they played computer games and listened to the radio. Media use totaled an average of five and one-half hours a day. More than two hours of that was spent watching TV.Seven years later, in 2007, more than seven percent of the young people had signs of depression. The average age at thattime was twenty-one.The researchers say they did not find any such relationship with the use of other media such as movies, video games of radio etc. But the study did find that every extra hour of television meant an eight percent increase in the chances of developing signs of depression. Y oung men were more likely than young women to develop depression given the same amount of media use.The study didn’t explore if watching TV causes depression. But one possibility is that it was taking time away from activities that could help prevent depression.Last December, the journal Social Indicators Research published a study of activities that help lead to happy lives. Sociologists from the University of Maryland found that people who describe themselves as happy spend less time watching television than unhappy people. The study found that happy people are more likely to be socially active, to read, to take part in religious services and to vote.1.The survey shows that of all the media uses.A.most teenagers prefer to listen to the radioB.teenagers enjoy watching TV very muchC.computer games are teenagers’ favouriteD.magazines are mentioned in the survey2.The result of the research seems to prove.A.media uses do no harm to teenagersB.teenagers are more likely to develop depressionC.those who don’t watch TV won’t develop depressionD.TV probably causes teenagers to grow up with depression3.According to the passage, we can infer that _______.A.watching TV may lead to happinessB.social activities can prevent depressionC.a teenager should play more video games instead of watching TVD.it was easier for young women to develop depression than young men4.What is the best title for this passage?A.Media use is harmful to teenagersB.Adults, Media use and DepressionC.Teens, Television and DepressionD.Take great care of teenager’s depressionF18、根据所给信息提示,选择正确答案。

一个著名的导演或者电影推荐英语作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Director: Steven SpielbergHave you ever watched a movie that made you feel like you were really there, living the adventure alongside the characters? That's how I feel when I watch movies made by my favorite director, Steven Spielberg! His films are so exciting, with amazing special effects that make you believe the impossible is actually happening right before your eyes.Steven Spielberg is one of the most famous movie directors of all time. He has made tons of awesome movies over the years, entertaining kids and grownups alike with his incredible imagination and storytelling skills. Some of his most popular films are E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, and Jaws. No matter what kind of movie he makes, you can always count on non-stop action, heartwarming characters, and unbelievable visual effects. One of the reasons I love Spielberg's movies so much is because of how creative and original they are. He doesn't justmake the same old kinds of movies over and over again. Instead, he uses his brilliant mind to come up with exciting new concepts that nobody has ever seen before, like turning nightmares about terrifying sharks or dinosaurs into edge-of-your-seat blockbuster hits!Take Jaws for example, Spielberg's very first major movie success from 1975. The story is about a giant man-eating shark that starts attacking people at a beach town. It may sound like a pretty simple and scary premise, but Spielberg made it so thrilling and memorable with his filmmaking skills. The scenes of that huge shark silently stalking its prey underwater still send chills down my spine! And who could forget that nail-biting moment when the sheriff is suddenly face-to-face with the shark's massive jaws? I get goosebumps just thinking about it.Then there's E.T. from 1982, which is one of my all-time favorite movies. It has such a clever and heartwarming story about a young boy named Elliott who discovers and befriends a gentle alien that was left behind on Earth. Spielberg perfectly captures the magic of childhood imagination and unconditional friendship. The scenes of E.T. and Elliott zooming across the sky on a flying bicycle against that gorgeous full moon backdrop areso iconic and make me smile every time. By the end, you can't help but be in awe of their pure, unbreakable bond.Spielberg's action-packed Indiana Jones movies are also hugely entertaining, following the funny and daring adventures of the iconic archaeologist hero played by Harrison Ford. Whether he's outrunning giant boulders, battling bad guys with his trusty whip, or traveling to exotic locations to uncover ancient artifacts, Indiana Jones is always getting into one hair-raising scrape after another. Like Spielberg's other films, the Indiana Jones stories are endlessly creative and keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. What I find really cool about Spielberg is that even after reaching the highest levels of success as a filmmaker, he never lost his passion for telling amazing stories and creating pure movie magic. At the heart of every Spielberg film, you'll find imaginative ideas, relatable characters you can't help but care about, valuable lessons about friendship or family, and scenes so spectacular you have to see them to believe them. That's why whenever I know a new Steven Spielberg movie is coming out, I get unbelievably excited. I can't wait to experience whatever new worlds, adventures, and unforgettable moments he'll take us to next. Whether it involves far-off galaxies, hiddentreasures, time travel, or even further showcasing the latest in special effects, I'm always in for an entertaining thrill ride.In my opinion, Steven Spielberg is a true master of his craft and one of the greatest directors who ever lived. He has the incredible ability to consistently create films that capture the imaginations of kids and adults alike through spellbinding visuals and captivating storytelling. From heart-pumping action sequences to tender family moments, no matter what kind of movie he makes, you know you're in for a treat. Spielberg's passion for filmmaking and drive to push technological boundaries help make the impossible possible on the big screen. So if you've somehow never seen a Steven Spielberg classic, I highly recommend checking one out as soon as you can! You'll quickly篇2My Favorite Director: Steven SpielbergHave you ever watched a movie that made you feel like you were really there, living through all the action and adventure on the screen? Movies that thrill you, make you laugh, and maybe even cry a little? If so, then you've probably seen a film by my favorite director, Steven Spielberg!Steven Spielberg is one of the most famous movie directors of all time. He's made so many incredible movies that have amazed millions of people around the world. I first discovered how awesome his movies are when I watched Jurassic Park a few years ago. I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw those dinosaurs brought to life so vividly on the big screen. It felt like the dinosaurs were real! After watching Jurassic Park, I became obsessed with seeing every Steven Spielberg film I could get my hands on. My parents started letting me watch his classics like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Jaws. Each movie pulled me into its story in such an immersive way. The music, the characters, the special effects – everything felt so vibrant and real. What makes Steven Spielberg's movies so extraordinary is his ability to transport you to different worlds and make you feel all kinds of emotions. One minute you're laughing at the silly antics of E.T., and the next you're terrified as the giant great white shark looms up from the depths in Jaws. Mr. Spielberg has a true gift for blending adventure, humor, and depth into his storytelling. He also tends to make movies that create a sense of wonder and magic. Who didn't dream of befriending a lovable alien afterwatching E.T.? Or wish they could discover some ancient treasure after watching Raiders of the Lost Ark? His imagination seems to know no bounds when it comes to conceiving new realms of fantasy and bringing them alive on the screen. At the same time, many of Mr. Spielberg's films deal with very real human struggles, relationships, and emotions. Movies like Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and The Color Purple tackle heavy subjects like war, racism, and genocide in a deeply moving way. Despite being works of fiction, they make you really think about the human experience and social issues. What I love most about Steven Spielberg, though, is how he blends wholesome family entertainment with artistry and deeper meaning. On the surface, many of his movies are just fun adventures meant to entertain kids and adults alike. But if you look closer, they usually have profound messages about friendship, courage, hope, and doing the right thing.Take E.T., for example. On one level, it's just a story about a young boy helping his alien friend get back home. But it's also about accepting those who are different, the incredible bond of friendship, and keeping one's sense of childlike wonder about the universe. Profound ideas wrapped up in an amazing, family-friendly story! That's the magic of Steven Spielberg.Watching a Steven Spielberg movie is a full experience that stimulates all your senses. Amazing imagery, larger-than-life sounds, and an musical score that perfectly matches the mood of each scene. It's like being transported to an entirely new reality for a couple of hours. That's true cinematic wizardry if you ask me!While I could keep gushing about Spielberg's talents all day, I'll wrap this up by saying he is nothing less than a master storyteller. Every movie he's made, from Jurassic Park and E.T. to Schindler's List and Lincoln, is overflowing with imagination, creativity, and most importantly, heart. He has a profound ability to construct tales that utterly captivate you while deeper meaning and emotions. Not many directors can blend blockbuster spectacle with intimate human drama as seamlessly as Steven Spielberg. His films are the perfect combination of entertainment and art. They thrill our senses while also nourishing our souls and minds. For creating cinematic experiences that inspire awe, laughter, excitement, and reflection, Steven Spielberg will forever be my favorite director. So if you've never experienced the transportive magic of a Spielberg movie before, what are you waiting for? Dim the lights, grab some popcorn, and get ready for adventures more wondrous than you can possibly imagine! Just don't be surprised if you walk out of the theater looking at the world a little differently. That's the power of truly great filmmaking to inspire us.篇3My Favorite Movie Director and Movie!Hi there! Today I want to tell you all about my favorite movie director and one of his most awesome movies. Get ready, because this is going to be epic! The director I love is Steven Spielberg. He's made so many incredible movies that I'm sure you've seen some of them. Maybe you've watched E.T., Jurassic Park, or Indiana Jones? Those are just a few of his massive hit movies. Steven Spielberg is seriously one of the best directors ever. What makes him so great? Well, first of all, he's a genius at coming up with amazing stories and characters that pull you right into the movie. His stories are always exciting, with tons of adventure, laughs, and crazy good special effects. He's the master of blockbuster thrills and chills! But his movies aren't just wildly entertaining. They also have really heartfelt messages about friendship, courage, and never giving up on your dreams. The characters he creates are so likable and easy to relate to. You can't help but feel inspired after watching one of his feel-good films.Another thing I admire about Steven Spielberg is how his movies make you think about important issues, but in a fun way that doesn't feel preachy. Take E.T for example - on one level it's an exciting sci-fi story, but it also teaches powerful lessons about acceptance, unity, and cosmic wonder.Speaking of E.T., that's probably my all-time favorite Spielberg movie (although Jurassic Park is a very close second!).E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial came out in 1982 and was an instant classic. It's a beautiful story about a young boy named Elliott who discovers and befriends a lovable alien creature that was left behind on Earth. From the very beginning, the movie sucks you in with the mysterious and spooky atmosphere as the aliens arrive. You can't take your eyes off the screen! Then when E.T. and Elliott finally meet, it's absolute magic. Their bond is so pure, innocent and touching. I'm not ashamed to admit I cried the first time I saw them become best buddies! As their friendship grows stronger, the stakes get higher and higher. The government is desperately searching for E.T., and Elliott has to find a way to get him home before it's too late. There are so many nail-biting chases and close calls. My heart was pounding during the iconic scene where E.T. and the bikes take flight across the moon. Spielberg's special effects were decades ahead of their time!Watching their courageous struggle to reunite E.T. with his spaceship, you can't help but be inspired by the unwavering power of their loyalty to each other. And when E.T. Finally utters "Stay..." with his glowing heart light? Tears, tears everywhere! Such a poignant reminder to appreciate the profound connections in our lives.Beyond being an electrifying adventure, E.T. teaches us that things we might initially perceive as strange and unknown should not be feared, but embraced with optimism and resilience. The aliens in the movie felt completely real to me, probably because a huge team of artists meticulously created the elaborate makeup, costumes and animatronics to bring them to life. There are so many reasons why E.T. is a true masterpiece of family filmmaking. Between the iconic characters, radiantstorytelling, and masterful construction of wonder and excitement, it's a movie that opens your eyes to the extraordinary possibilities of our world and the universe. Decades later, it's still as magical and relevant as ever. That's why Steven Spielberg's body of work is so legendary, and why E.T. will always be my favorite movie of his. He has an unparalleled gift for tapping into our senseHumansof awe and capturing the incredible within the ordinary. His imagination seems to have no bounds!Just thinking about the amazingly immersive worlds he's created like the dinosaurs of Jurassic Park or the harrowing events of Saving Private Ryan gives me goosebumps. Whether it's heart-stopping action, whimsical make-believe, or pausing to reflect on life's big questions, a Spielberg movie is always an epic experience. So if you haven't already, I highly recommend you watch E.T. and as many other Steven Spielberg movies as you can. Get ready to be transported to new realms of excitement and imagination. This brilliant director's movies are trulyout-of-this-world!篇4My Favorite Director: Steven SpielbergHi there! My name is Jamie, and I'm 10 years old. Today, I want to tell you about my favorite movie director, Steven Spielberg. He's made so many incredible movies that have captured my imagination and taken me on thrilling adventures!Spielberg was born in 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He grew up loving movies and started making his own amateur films as a kid. Can you believe that? Even when he was young like me, he was already pursuing his passion for filmmaking! That's so cool. One of Spielberg's earliest and most famous movies is "Jaws." It's about a massive great white shark that terrorizes a small beach town. I remember watching it with my dad, and we were both on the edge of our seats! The suspense was unreal, and the shark looked so real and scary. Spielberg did an amazing job of building tension and creating a sense of dread every time that iconic music played.Another classic Spielberg film is "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial." This one is about a young boy named Elliott who befriends a lovable alien stranded on Earth. The bond between Elliott and E.T. is so heartwarming, and the movie has a perfect balance of humor, adventure, and emotion. I cried when E.T. had to gohome, but I was also happy that he and Elliott formed such a special friendship.Speaking of friendships, who could forget "Indiana Jones"? This action-packed series follows the adventures of the daring archaeologist Indiana Jones as he battles Nazis, explores ancient tombs, and uncovers legendary artifacts. Indiana Jones is played by Harrison Ford, and he's one of the coolest movie heroes ever! The stunts, the witty one-liners, and the epic score by John Williams make these movies endlessly rewatchable. One of Spielberg's more recent masterpieces is "Jurassic Park." Imagine being transported to a world where dinosaurs have been brought back to life! That's exactly what happens in this thrilling movie. From the awe-inspiring brachiosaurus to the terrifying T-Rex, the dinosaurs look so lifelike thanks to the groundbreaking special effects. Spielberg's ability to capture the sense of wonder and danger is truly unmatched. But Spielberg doesn't just make movies about sharks, aliens, and dinosaurs. He's also tackled important historical events with films like "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan." These movies are more serious and emotional, but they're just as powerful and well-made as his other works. What I love most about Steven Spielberg's movies is how they transport you to different worlds and make you feel like you're part of the adventure. Whether it's the suburbs of suburban America or a galaxy far, far away, Spielberg has a way of making these places feel alive and real. His movies are also filled with heart and often teach valuable lessons about friendship, courage, and doing the right thing. Even though some of his films are intense or scary, there's always a sense of hope and positivity shining through.Another thing that makes Spielberg's movies so special is the incredible attention to detail. From the intricate set designs to the stunning cinematography, every frame feels carefully crafted and bursting with creativity. You can tell that a lot of hard work and passion went into bringing these stories to life.I could go on and on about why Steven Spielberg is my favorite director, but I think you get the idea. His films have the power to transport, thrill, and inspire audiences of all ages. They're more than just movies; they're works of art that leave a lasting impact. So, if you haven't already, I highly recommend checking out some of Spielberg's classics like "E.T.," "Jurassic Park," and "Indiana Jones." Trust me, you're in for an unforgettableadventure! And who knows, maybe someday I'll become a famous director like him and create movies that captivate and inspire future generations.篇5My Favorite Movie Director: Steven SpielbergHave you ever watched a movie that made you feel like you were really there, living through all the exciting adventures on the screen? Or a film that had you crying tears of sadness one minute and then laughing out loud the next? Well, if you have, there's a good chance that movie was directed by the amazing Steven Spielberg!Steven Spielberg is probably the most famous and successful movie director of all time. He has made so many incredible films over his incredibly long career, which began way back in the 1970s. Some of his most popular movies include Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, and lots more. He's won tons of major awards like Oscars and Golden Globes. Pretty much every kid and grown-up has seen and loved at least one Steven Spielberg film! What makes Mr. Spielberg's movies so special is his ability to tell stories that appeal to everyone while using mind-blowingcamera tricks and visual effects that make you feel like you're really there. He has a true gift for taking ordinary people, places, and events and making them feel extraordinary on the big screen. Whether it's a fun adventure with kids and aliens, a terrifying shark attack, or an important historical event like World War II, Spielberg makes you experience it all up close with energy, excitement, and real human emotion. One of my absolute favorite Spielberg films is the classic "Raiders of the Lost Ark" from 1981. It's an action-packed adventure movie about a humble archeology professor named Indiana Jones, played by the very cool actor Harrison Ford. Indy gets caught up in a race against groups of bad guys who are searching for a legendary ancient artifact called the Ark of the Covenant, which is rumored to hold incredible supernatural powers. From the opening scene of the movie, you are thrown right into the middle of the intense action and thrills. Indy is exploring deep inside an ancient temple ruin, facing deadly booby traps and snakes (which he really hates!) in order to steal a golden fertility idol. Just when he thinks he's made it out safe, he is attacked by his brutal rival archeologists who want the idol for themselves. This first scene has everything - creepy atmosphere, surprises, humor, fist fights, and a signature Indy daring escape by using his wits, whip, and quick reflexes. Spielberg does an amazing job of grabbing your attention and planting you directly alongside Indiana Jones from minute one!The movie continues with Indy being hired by the U.S. government to locate the Ark before the Nazis can get their hands on it and use its power to make themselves invincible. This leads our hero on a globetrotting adventure from Nepal to Cairo to a Nazi archaeological dig in the desert. Everywhere Indy goes, there are incredible action set pieces that get your heart pounding - a wild fist fight with a band of brutal bandidos, a terrifying truck chase through the streets and bazaars, and an incredible climactic scene where the Ark is finally opened and Speilberg masterfully blends ancient spiritual mythology with state-of-the-art visual effects that will make you want to cover your eyes (but in a good way!).What I love most about Raiders is how it mixes intense exciting thrills with a fun spirit of adventure, lots of humor, and great characters that you can't help but love. Indiana Jones is the ultimate hero - smart, brave, good-looking in his signature fedora and leather jacket, and always ready with a witty line or idea to get himself out of trouble. You can't help but laugh at hisfunny relationship with his no-nonsense ex-girlfriend Marion, played by the gorgeous Karen Allen. The movie is filled with colorful supporting characters like Indy's fussy friend Sallah, the traitorous colleague Belloq, and a band of clever but inept Nazi villains who you love to hate. Through all the laughs and cheers, Raiders keeps you on the edge of your seat, frantically rooting for Indy to overcome every obstacle and beat the odds. But beneath all the rip-roaring adventure, there is an emotional core and deeper meaning that Steven Spielberg weaves so brilliantly into the film. At its heart, Raiders is a movie about the arrogance of man's attempt to control God-like supernatural forces that are far beyond our mortal篇6My Favorite Movie Director - Steven SpielbergHi there! My name is Tommy, and I'm 10 years old. Today, I want to tell you about my favorite movie director - Steven Spielberg. He's made some of the most amazing movies ever, and I just can't get enough of them!Who is Steven Spielberg?Steven Spielberg is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter. He was born in 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he's now 77 years old. Can you believe it? He's been making movies for over 50 years!Spielberg is considered one of the most popular and influential filmmakers of all time. He's directed some of the highest-grossing movies ever, like E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and Saving Private Ryan. He's won tons of awards, including three Academy Awards (which are like the Oscars for movies). What I Love About His MoviesOkay, so why do I love Steven Spielberg's movies so much? Well, let me tell you!First of all, his movies are always so exciting and adventurous. Whether it's a group of kids trying to find an alien (E.T.), a man being chased by a giant shark (Jaws), or a whole theme park filled with dinosaurs (Jurassic Park), there's never a dull moment. His movies keep me on the edge of my seat, and I can't wait to see what happens next.Secondly, Spielberg is a master at creating amazing special effects and making things look really realistic. The dinosaurs inJurassic Park? They look so real, it's scary! And the way he filmed the battles in Saving Private Ryan makes you feel like you're right there in the middle of World War II. It's incredible! But Spielberg's movies aren't just about action and special effects. They also have a lot of heart and emotion. I always end up caring so much about the characters and feeling what they're feeling. Like in E.T., when Elliot has to say goodbye to his alien friend, it makes me cry every time. Spielberg knows how to tug at your heartstrings. My Favorite Spielberg Movie: E.T. the Extra-TerrestrialOut of all of Steven Spielberg's amazing movies, my favorite has to be E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial. It's a classic from 1982, but it's still just as good today. The story is about a young boy named Elliot who discovers and befriends a friendly alien that's been stranded on Earth. Elliot and his siblings have to hide E.T. from their mom and the government scientists who are trying to capture him. Along the way, they go on all sorts of exciting adventures and form a really special bond with the alien. There are so many reasons why I love this movie. First of all, the characters are just so lovable, especially E.T. himself. He'scute, funny, and really smart, and you can't help but fall in love with him. Elliot is also a great character – he's brave, loyal, and does whatever it takes to protect his new friend. The special effects in E.T. are also incredible, especially considering the movie is over 40 years old. E.T. looks so realistic, and the way he moves and communicates is just amazing. The flying bicycle scene is one of the most iconic moments in movie history, and it still looks stunning today. But what really makes E.T. special is the emotional storytelling. The friendship between Elliot and E.T. is so pure and heartwarming, and their eventual goodbye is absolutely heartbreaking. Spielberg knows how to make you feel all the feels, and this movie is a true tear-jerker.I've probably seen E.T. a hundred times, and it never gets old. It's a perfect blend of adventure, humor, special effects, and heart. It's a movie that kids and adults can both enjoy, and it's a true classic that will be loved for generations to come.In ConclusionSo, there you have it – Steven Spielberg is my favorite movie director, and E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial is my favorite film of his.Spielberg is a true master of his craft, and he's given us some of the most amazing and unforgettable movies of all time.If you haven't seen E.T. or any of Spielberg's other classics, you're really missing out. Do yourself a favor and check them out – I promise you won't be disappointed. And who knows, maybe one day you'll love his movies just as much as I do!。

And we all know what that means...it’s that time of year when malls, stores, restaurants, streets, and freeways are busier and crazier than ever. This holiday season, while you’re out shopping and running around, why not go out of your way to say hello to the hotel cleaning person, the flight attendant, the restaurant busperson, the hotel clerk, the garbage collector, the gardener...?A wonderful storyteller by the name of C. W. Metcalf told of a man in the airport who was verbally abusing(辱骂)an airline ticketing agent. Thetraveler had missed his flight due to mechanical difficulties and was being loud, aggressive, and just plain mean to the poor ticketing agent, who obviously had no control over the plane’s condition. Metcalf went up to the abusive man and asked, “Can I have your autograph?” When the man, puzzled, asked, “Why do you want my autograph?” Metcalf responded, “Because I’ve never met the center of the universe before!”I once had one of those awful flying experiences where flight after flight was delayed. What should have been a three-hour flight turned into a fifteen-hour, multiple-city, exhausting nightmare, causing me to miss meetings in my intended city. At 3 A.M., by the time I was finally within thirty minutes of landing at my destination airport, I suddenly smelled something wonderful: the flight attendants were baking chocolate chip cookies! That sweet, comforting aroma filled the airline cabin, and our small group of 20 passengers waited with anticipation as the flight attendants made their way down the aisle, handing each of us a warm cookie. I instantly abandoned my plans for an enraged(愤怒的)letter-writing campaign against the airline and was effortlessly relieved of all my anger and exhaustion-all by one soft, freshly baked cookie.36. The purpose of the writer is to tell us to _____.A. bring the spirit of humanity into the holiday seasonB. pay respect to those who provide service for usC. keep calm to fully enjoy our holiday seasonD. prepare for whatever difficulites we meet in the holiday season37. Why did Metcalf ask for the traveller’s auto-graph?A. To teach the traveller a good lesson.B. To give the traveller some comfort.C. To make the traveller realize that he was too self-centered.D. To make peace between the traveller and the airline ticketing agent.38. Before the writer was given the warm cookie, he ____.A. was quite hungryB. was very angryC. was terrified from his nightmareD. was eager to go home39. The last paragraph implies that _____.A. understanding is the key to solving conflictsB. there could be nothing better in serving the customersC. forgiveness works better than complaintsD. good service and consideration can help solve the problems40. The writer of the passage would probably agree that _____.A. it’s quite natural for one to get angry in a busy holiday seasonB. it’s necessary to show our appreciatio n of the service we receiveC. those in service should put the interest of the customers above anything elseD. we shouldn’t make a complaint unless we have enough evidenceBIn 1985, a geography researcher called Atsumu Ohmura at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology got the shock of his life. As part of his studies into climate and atmospheric radiation, Ohmura was checking levels of sunlight recorded around Europe when he made an astonishing discovery. Compared to similar measurements recorded by his predecessors(前辈)in the 1960s, Ohmura’s results suggested that levels of solar radiation striking the Earth’s surface had declined by more than 10% in three decades. Sunshine, it seemed, was on the way out.The finding went against all scientific thinking. When Ohmura eventually published his discovery in 1989 the science world was distinctly unimpressed(未被打动的). “It was ignored,” he says.It turns out that Ohmura was the first to document a dramatic effect that scientists are now calling “global dimming”. Records show that over the past 50 years the average amount of sunlight reaching the ground has gone down by almost 3% a decade. It’s too small an effect to see with the naked eye, but it has implications for everything from climate change to solar power and even the future sustainability of plant photosynthesis(光合作用).Although Ohmura was the first to report global dimming, he wasn’t alone. In fact, the scientific record now shows several other research papers published during the 1990s on the subject, all finding that light levels were falling significantly. Among them they reported that sunshine inIreland was on the wane(日益衰落), that both the Arctic and the Antarctic were getting darker and that light in Japan, the supposed land of the rising sun, was actually falling. But what causes global dimming? The few experts who have studied the effect believe it’s down to air pollution. Tiny particles of soot(煤烟) or chemical compounds like sulphates reflect sunlight and they also promote the formation of bigger, longer lasting clouds.“The cloudy times are getting darker,” says Cohen, at the V olcani Centre. “If it’s cloudy then it’s darker, but when it’s sunny things haven’t changed much.”41. Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?A. Goodbye, sunshine!B. The shock of lifeC. An ignored questionD. Atsumu Ohmura and his discovery42. When Atsumu Ohmura made the discovery known, the other scientists _____.A. were greatly shockedB. accepted it in timeC. didn’t take it seriouslyD. were encouraged to do more research on it43. The fourth paragraph mainly intends to _____.A. analyse(分析)which part of the world is most affected by globaldimmingB. provide further evidence for Ohmura’s dis-coveryC. report the continuous effect of global dimmingD. show the support given by other scientists to Ohmura44. According to the passage, since 1985, the average amount of sunlight reaching theground has gone down by about _____.A. 3%B. 7%C. 15%D. 20%45. Scientists believe that global dimming is due to _____.A. climate changeB. solar activityC. formation of cloudsD. human activityCGirls like writing and reading; boys like math and science. At least that’s the old idea many people have. But a new survey shows that girls in elementary school actually like math and science better than language arts.Researchers at the University of Miami in Ohio surveyed nearly 2,000 girls in grades 4 through 8 at twenty schools and had them rate their enjoyment of four subjects: science, math, language arts and social studies, on a scale(等级)of 1 (strongly dislike) to 5 (really like). Fourth-grade girls clearly liked science the best; their average enjoyment levels were:● 4.11 for science● 3.85 for math● 3.5 for language arts● 3.49 for socia l studiesAs girls get older though, they seem to like science and math less, with science’s average likeability score falling to 3.29 for girls in 8th grade. But these subjects aren’t alone, as girls seemed to lose a little interest in every subject. Like ability for social studies fell to 2.91 for 8th graders. “It doesn’t seem like girls are losing interest in science and mathematics any more than they lose interest in other subjects,” said study team member Jennifer Blue, a physics professor at Miami.Just why girls lose interest in all these subjects is something researchers haven’t worked out. But the good news, they say, is that girls regain some of their interest in science in college—Miami, for example, has more female botany, microbiology(微生物学)and zoology majors than male majors.46. It’s commonly believed that ______.A. boys are more intelligent than girlsB. boys are more interested in math and science than girlsC. boys and girls like math and scienceD. boys and girls like math and science better than language arts47. The survey was carried out among ______.A. primary school girl studentsB. high school girl studentsC. five gradesD. twenty colleges48. According to the survey result, which subject are fourth-grade girls least interested in?A. Science.B. Math.C. Language arts.D. Social studies.49. Researchers at the University of Miami found in their survey that girls seem to ______.A. be less interested in their studies as they get olderB. regain some of their interest in science as they get olderC. like science better than social studies as they get olderD. like writing and reading better than boys as they get older50. It can be inferred that the researchers at the University of Miami are trying to find out ______.A. the ways to help girls regain their interest in scienceB. the causes why girls lose interest in almost every subjectC. why more female college students are interested in scienceD. why young girls like science better than language artsDMary Schaefer has always been interested in how the human element plays out in what, and how, things get done in the workplace. Mary’s belief is that organizations are composed of unique human beings requiring individual attention in order to make the most of what they cancontribute to an organization, and at the same time meet their own specific needs for meaningful work. She formed her company, Artemis Path, to help managers and employees see how they can get more from themselves and each other by working with what makes us human beings—an unexpected resourcefulness and energy that can only come from a respectful and co-operative work environment.Having started as a computer systems analyst, over time she noticed that she was more interested in how people reacted to changing job expectations and a changing work environment, how people reacted to learning new skills, and how to overcome the obstacles to that.As she started pursuing a career in Human Resources and a Master’s in HR, Mary was chosen for several work assignments that allowed her to try out her vision for how people can be more positively engaged in the workplace. She took an active role in leading hundreds of survivors of corporate downsizing to see how they could make positive choices moving forward, rather than be overwhelmed by constant job insecurity. While leading a manufacturing project team made up of several shop-floor employees, Mary worked with every person on her team on their skill-development needs. In just a few years, several were promoted and were able to significantly expand their career possibilities. Mary was recognized for this and more with an award for being a “champion of human potential”.51. 英语故事-Steven Spielberg (2)

英语故事-Steven Spielberg (2)

英语故事Steven Spielberg (2)为何斯皮尔伯格能成为叱咤风云的银幕大师?Steven Spielberg (2)One key to Spielberg’s success is his urge for cost control. With all its effects, The Lost World cost about $75 million, peanuts compared with Speed 2: Cruise Control, heading for $140million, and The Titanic, sailing past the $200 million mark. During an Amistad pre production conference, Spielberg flummoxed Katzenberg and DreamWorks film exec Walter Parkes by demanding that the already relatively frugal $56 million budget be cut an additional $20 million. “I saw The English Patient,” he said. “I know we can do this for less.”Because of weather troubles during the New England location shooting, Spielberg didn’t save quite as much as he wanted. But, as Katzenberg says, “The budget has a three in front of it.”As he prepares a shot on the Amistad set, Spielberg muses,“I’m deciding whether to use my castle or my bishop. How am I being threatened here? How can I advance? Directing is about seeing 20 moves ahead while you’re working on the next five.”He explains that “each scene is like a little movie,” with a beginning, usually a middle and no end. “If there’s an absolute ending to a scene, then the movie can play like a series of camel humps. I want each scene with a great beginning and a really good middle.”Spielberg has always maintained that for him, family is the most important thing. Amy Irving gave him his first child, Max, in 1985. With Kate Capshaw, whom he married in 1991, he has a brood of seven. He was often too preoccupied to be a perfect dad. “It’s full-time work,”Spielberg says of fatherhood, “because every one of our kids is a leader. Seven leaders, no followers — which makes our kitchen at dinnertime look and sound like the House of Commons between the Labor Party and the Tories.” This genial chaos is managed by Capshaw and a live in couple in the Spielberg’s palatial home in the Los Angeles suburb. “I really love the diaper part,” Kate says, “the rocking and the bottle-feeding and the lunch menus. The things Steven does are the things he can do uniquely, liketelling stories and drawing creatures I could never imagine. The two of us blessedly allow each other to do what we do best.”The family room is the food room. “We have about six wasted rooms in our house,”Spielberg says, “because we just live in the kitchen.” There he helps the kids build highways of dominos that wind around the furniture and down the cellar steps. On one wall hangs a large board that notes every-one’s activities, from karate lessons and art classes to Dad’s location shoots. “There’s also this couch,” says Capshaw, “which is Steven Central. He has a bunch of scripts to read, and tapes — casting reels, bits of animation, etc. — that he pops into the VCR. But if one of the kids asks him to build a castle, he’s immediately down on the floor, building that castle. The kid runs away, Steven crawls back on the couch and gets back to business.”“What binds my films together,”he says, “is the concept of loneliness and isolation and being pursued by all the forces of nature. That comes from who I was and how I was raised.”Leah Spielberg is the matriarch everyone knows. “Once Nancy Reagan saw me,”she recalls, “and said, ‘Look, there’s Steven Spielberg’s mother.’” She is the one for whom her son throws a surprise party at the Beverly Hills, and is told to pick out anything she wants. Spielberg adores his mother. Leah doesn’t even pretend to be the shaper of her famous son’s blooming genius. Looking back on his youth, she says, “He scared me! I didn’t know anything about raising children — and it took a concerted effort just to get him past his infancy. Now he has dimensions I can’t even fathom. Most people dream. Steven dreams; then he fulfills.”In Phoenix, where the Spielbergs lived from 1957 to 1964, four kids — Steven and his three younger sisters — filled the house with noise. The boy’s imaginative sense of destruction made him a terror to his sisters. He pulled the head off one of their dolls and set it on a plate garnished with lettuce and tomatoes, like a pig at a luau. “When I was a baby,” says Anne, later a screenwriter (Big), “they had to put chicken wire around the crib so he wouldn’t throw toy cars at me.Arnold, an electrical engineer, played the disciplinarian in the family. “My father would be upset thatSteven got detentiond,”recalls Anne, “while my mother encourage him to play hooky. Dad would ask what we were going to do with our lives, while mom would say, ‘Don’t worry, just live for today.’”Arnold worked hard to be a good, traditional dad. “Steven was terrible in chemistry,”he says, “and I’d try helping him with his homework. Once, when he got a D in the subject, he came home and said, ‘Dad, you flunked.’”But some of Arnold’s teaching took. He had been an Air Force sharpshooter in World War II, and he taught Steven this skill. In a grander game —filmmaking — Arnold was the flight instructor spurring his boy to be top gun. “Arnold turned Steven on to filmmaking,”notes Joseph McBride, author of the new Steven Spielberg. “Arnold helped Steven learn to direct; he was the family storyteller; he was interested in science-fiction. Steven is the combination of two remarkable parents.”The elder Spielbergs divorced when Steven was 19; he remained close to Leah and her new husband Bernie Adler. “Bernie didn’t want me around,” says Arnold. “It becamean uncomfortable situation. The kids suffered, and I just had to ride it out. At the premiere of Jaws, we sat at separate tables.”With his father at a distance, Steven looked for new father figures, finding one in Steven J. Ross, the charismatic boss of Warner Bros. “When my son got his honorary degree at Brandeis, I saw the way he looked at Steve Ross, and I could tell Ross was his surrogate father,” Arnold says. “I’ll admit I had a touch of envy — not enough to make me feel sour, just enough to give me a little itch.”A few years ago, both Ross and Adler died. Says Anne: “It shocked Steven into seeing the fragility of people’s lives.”Deprived of surrogate fathers, he thought more about his real one. “I didn’t want to be as wrapped up in my work as my dad,”says Spielberg, “and yet inexorably I was becoming my dad. So we finally reached out to each other. It was like coming home again, making up for lost time. Now we’re so close, it’s fantastic.”As a major American icon, Spielberg has written, acted in, directed and produced many award-winning, top grossing movies of all time, along with some of the most remembered andloved. He is also the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute and the prestigious Irving G. Thasberg Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Roger Ebert (Sun-Times film critic) has stated “If Spielberg never directed another film, his place in movie history would be secure. No other director has been more successful at the box office and few have placed more titles on various lists of great films.”(from TIME, July, 2001)。

一位最有影响力的电影导演英语作文

一位最有影响力的电影导演英语作文

一位最有影响力的电影导演英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1One of the Most Influential Movie DirectorsMovies are awesome! I love watching them and imagining being part of the exciting stories and adventures on the big screen. But have you ever thought about who makes movies and how they are created? Behind every great movie is an even greater director who brings the whole vision to life. One director who has made some of the most popular and influential movies of all time is Steven Spielberg. He has directed tons of famous films that you have probably seen or at least heard about. Let me tell you a bit about this amazing director and why he is considered one of the best ever!Steven Spielberg was born in 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Even as a little kid, he was obsessed with movies and telling stories through film. When he was just 12 years old, he made his first amateur movie using his dad's 8mm camera. It was called The Last Gunfight and was about cowboys and Indians. Can youimagine making your own movie at 12 years old? That's incredible!Spielberg went on to study film in college and started his professional career directing television shows in the late 1960s. But it was in 1975 when he directed his first big hit movie that really put him on the map. Have you heard of the movie Jaws? It's about a huge great white shark that starts attacking people at a beach town. Jaws was a massive success and actually became the highest-grossing movie ever at that time! It was so scary and suspenseful, but also really fun and entertaining to watch. After the incredible success of Jaws, Spielberg went on to direct some of the most popular movies of the next few decades. In 1977, he made Close Encounters of the Third Kind about people's encounters with UFOs and aliens. Then in 1981, he gave us one of the greatest adventure films of all time - Raiders of the Lost Ark starring Harrison Ford as the daring archeologist Indiana Jones.Spielberg has a special talent for taking ordinary people or scenes and making them feel extraordinary and magical on screen. A perfect example of this is his movie E.T. theExtra-Terrestrial from 1982. The story is about a young boy who discovers and befriends a lovable alien that is stranded on Earth.A movie about a kid hanging out with an alien doesn't sound that exciting, but Spielberg made it so heartwarming, imaginative and filled with a sense of wonder. I bet you've seen the famous scene where E.T. and the kid fly across the sky and moon on a bicycle - it's one of the most iconic images in movie history! In addition to making films loaded with adventure and amazement, Spielberg has tackled many serious topics and periods of history. He directed the powerful drama Schindler's List in 1993 about a businessman who saved the lives of over a thousand Polish Jews during the Holocaust. This heavy movie showed the horrific tragedy of the Holocaust, but also the incredible resilience and humanity of those who survived. It was an extremely important film that educated many people about this awful period in history.More recently in 1998, Spielberg brought to life the harrowing true story of soldiers surviving the intense WWII battle in Saving Private Ryan. The battle scenes were some of the most realistic and terrifying war footage ever filmed for a movie. Spielberg did an amazing job honoring the sacrifices of the brave soldiers who fought during that crucial time.Clearly, Steven Spielberg has an incredible range as a director - able to craft imaginative fantasies and adventures as well as gritty historical epics. Perhaps his most popular and famous franchise is the series of films about an adventurous archaeologist named Indiana Jones. With movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, we got to follow the daring Indy as he traveled the globe getting into all sorts of scrapes with villains while searching for rare ancient artifacts. The Indiana Jones movies blended action, suspense, comedy, history and had some pretty awesome special effects for its time. I bet kids everywhere dreamed of going on adventures like Indy after watching the films! But in addition to all of his live action masterpieces, Spielberg was also a pioneer in special effects driven movies. You may not know this, but part of the reason Jurassic Park in 1993 was such a landmark film was because it featured incredibly realistic and seamless computer generated dinosaurs that had never been achieved before. Spielberg struck the perfect balance of integrating fantastic visual effects into an exciting story that made the dinosaurs feel shockingly real and alive.Do you know what my favorite Spielberg movie is? It has to be his 2001 film A.I. Artificial Intelligence which imagined a future world where advanced human-like robots are commonplace. At the same time, the story touches on sensitive themes of humanity, love, and what it really means to be "alive." I was captivated by the emotional journey and relationship between the young robot boy and the human mother who struggles to love and accept him. Like many of Spielberg's movies, it made me imagine what life could be like in an entirely different world and circumstance. That's part of the fun and magic of going to the movies! There are so many other memorable Spielberg films I didn't even get to mention like Close Encounters of the Third Kind, The Color Purple, Empire of the Sun, Catch Me If You Can, Minority Report, Munich, Lincoln, West Side Story and Ready Player One just to name a few. Does this guy ever take a break?! Over his incredibly prolific 50+ year career directing, he has won 3 Academy Awards with over 20 nominations, 20 Oscars total, 7 Golden Globes and more accolades and honors than I can count. What makes Steven Spielberg so remarkable is his ability to tell meaningful stories across every genre and subject that still feel immensely entertaining and meaningful. Fromheart-pounding adventures and out-of-this-world fantasies to gut-wrenching historical dramas, his directing brings energy, emotion, and thoughtfulness to every scene. He is a true master of the movie-making craft and a visionary at capturing the wonder and humanity on the big screen.Movies play such an important role in our lives and culture. They transport us to new worlds, perspectives, and experiences we could never encounter in real life. And thanks to modern technology and movie magic, they let us witness sights our ancestors could have never imagined like walking with dinosaurs or traveling to other planets. For over fifty years, Steven Spielberg has helped shaped the movie-going experience and created so many unforgettable films that have influenced countless other directors, actors, and movies. The next time you watch a great movie, think about how a legendary director like Spielberg helped bring that incredible story to life with all the visuals, emotions, characters, and adventures captured on the big screen. Movies are so awesome!篇2My Favorite Movie Director: Steven SpielbergHi there! Today I want to tell you all about my favorite movie director, Steven Spielberg. He's made so many amazing movies that I just can't get enough of. From exciting adventure flicks to heartwarming tales, Spielberg has done it all. Let me share with you why he's the best director ever!To start with, Spielberg has given us some of the most iconic movies of all time. Who hasn't seen E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial? It's the story of a young boy named Elliott who discovers and befriends a lovable alien. I remember watching it for the first time and being totally in awe of the incredible special effects. The scene where E.T. and Elliott fly across the moon on BMX bikes is so magical! I must have re-watched that part a million times. Then there's Jurassic Park, another Spielberg classic. Can you imagine anything cooler than bringing dinosaurs back to life? The movie uses mind-blowing computer animation to make you feel like you're really there on the island with the T-Rex and Velociraptors. My heart was pounding during the kitchen scene –I was so tense waiting to see if the kids would make it out alive! Jurassic Park sparked my lifelong fascination with paleontology. While Spielberg is a master at delivering nonstop excitement, he also knows how to pluck at your heartstrings. The ColorPurple, based on the famous novel, deals with powerful themes like racism, domestic violence, and finding one's inner strength. I'll never forget the powerful performances by Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey, and the rest of the all-star cast. Schindler's List, Spielberg's haunting masterpiece about the Holocaust, left me in tears but also filled me with hope at the resilience of the human spirit. What makes Spielberg such a legendary filmmaker is his unbeatable versatility. He can pivot from popcorn blockbusters to hard-hitting dramas without missing a beat. Just look at Saving Private Ryan – it has some of the most intense and realistic battle scenes ever filmed, depicting the sheer horror of war. But it's also an incredibly moving tale about the profound bonds of brotherhood. I have so much respect for the way Spielberg handles profound subject matter with sensitivity and grace. In my opinion, one of Spielberg's greatest strengths is his unparalleled skill at building amazing worlds and bringing them to life on the big screen. The Indiana Jones movies are perfect examples of this. From expansive jungles and ancient temples to opulent palaces and subterranean caverns, every locale looks unbelievably rich and immersive. You easily get swept up inIndy's thrilling globe-trotting adventures in search of rare artifacts. I'll never forget the huge boulder chase scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark – my heart feels like it's going to burst out of my chest every time! What also sets Spielberg apart is his unending creativity and inventiveness as a storyteller. Whether it's battling xenomorph monsters in War of the Worlds, exploring the depths of our shared humanity in A.I. Artificial Intelligence, or going on unforgettable journeys to such wonderlands as Hook's Neverland, there's no limit to the tales Spielberg can bring to life. His vivid imagination and flair for visual razzle-dazzle keep viewers of all ages enthralled from start to finish. In addition to being a trailblazer, Spielberg paved the way for today's blockbuster era and proved that crowd-pleasing movies could also be incredibly artful and meaningful. Jaws, for instance, pioneered many techniques in suspense and horror that are still used today. But more than that, it's a masterful allegory about how humans' strained relationship with nature can have catastrophic consequences. Spielberg was way ahead of his time in using escapist entertainment as a vehicle for bigger truths about society. At the end of the day, what makes Spielberg's films so special is their unabashed sense of wonder, optimism, and decency. In a world that can feel dark and hopeless at times, his movies remind us why it's vital to approach life with a childlike sense of curiosity and belief that good will ultimately triumph over evil. Spielberg's ability to tap into our shared experiences of joy, fear, love, and loss is unmatched – that's why his work resonates so profoundly with audiences across generations and cultures. So those are the reasons why Steven Spielberg will always be my favorite director. From the very first fade-in, you know you're in for something special – a roller-coaster thrill ride that will not only dazzle you with its spectacle but also enrich your heart and soul. Spielberg's passion, artistry, and sheer imagination shine through in every meticulously crafted frame. I can't wait to see what other extraordinary visions he has in store for us!篇3One of the Most Influential Film Directors: Steven SpielbergHave you ever watched a movie that made you feel like you were really there, living through all the action and adventure? That's the magic of Steven Spielberg, one of the most famousand influential movie directors of all time. He has a special way of telling stories that makes you feel like you're part of them.Steven Spielberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1946. When he was just a kid, he loved making little movies with his friends, using his dad's movie camera. Even then, he had a talent for storytelling and making things seem real and exciting. As he grew up, Steven's love for movies only got stronger. He went to college and studied filmmaking, learning all the tricks of the trade. After college, he started making his own movies, and boy, were they good! His first big hit was a movie called "Jaws" in 1975. It was about a giant, man-eating shark that terrorized a small beach town. People were so scared by the movie that they didn't want to go swimming in the ocean anymore! That's how realistic and thrilling Spielberg made it.But Steven Spielberg is more than just a master of suspense and action. He also knows how to tell heartwarming stories that make you laugh and cry. One of his most beloved movies is "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial," about a young boy who befriends a friendly alien stranded on Earth. The way Spielberg showed the special bond between the boy and the alien was so touching thatit made millions of people around the world fall in love with the movie.Another amazing Spielberg film is "Schindler's List," which is based on a true story from World War II. It's a very serious and sad movie about the Holocaust, when millions of Jewish people were killed by the Nazis. Spielberg did such a powerful job of showing the horrors of that time that the movie won lots of awards and made people understand how important it is to never let something like that happen again. One of the reasons Steven Spielberg is so good at making movies is that he pays attention to every little detail. He works really hard to make sure everything looks and sounds just right, from the sets and costumes to the music and special effects. He also knows how to get the best performances out of his actors, whether they're big stars or little kids.Spielberg has made so many famous movies that it's hard to name them all. Some of his other big hits include "Raiders of the Lost Ark," "Jurassic Park," "Saving Private Ryan," and "Lincoln." He's won tons of awards, including several Oscars, which are like the highest honor a movie can get.But even after all his success, Steven Spielberg hasn't stopped working hard and trying new things. He's alwayslooking for new stories to tell and new ways to tell them. He wants to keep making movies that make people feel something, whether it's excitement, joy, sadness, or a deeper understanding of the world around them. That's why Steven Spielberg is considered one of the most influential directors in movie history. He has a special gift for telling stories in a way that touches people's hearts and minds, and he's used that gift to create some of the most beloved and important films of all time. Who knows what kind of amazing movies he'll make next?。
