had better表示劝告或建议,意思是“最好……”。 e.g. You’d better get some sleep. had better一般不用于疑问句中,但可用于否定句中,其否 定形式为had better not。 e.g. You’d better not waste any more of your time.

need作情态动词表示“需要”,可用于肯定句、否定句和 疑问句。否定形式need not (needn’t) 比较常用,表示“不 需要”或“不必要”。
e.g. You needn’t wait. 注意:need也可以作行为动词,表示“需要”,常用于 need to do sth. 结构。
