高考英语二轮(江苏专用)第1部分 专题3 类型5 生态环保-
类型5| 生态环保(对应学生用书第70页)(2017·江苏高考卷)Old Problem ,New ApproachesWhile clean energy is increasingly used in our daily life ,global warming will continue for some decades after CO 2 emissions(排放)peak. So even if emissions were to begin to decrease today ,we would still face the challenge of adapting to climate change. Here I will stress some smarter and more creative examples of climate adaptation. When it comes to adaptation ,it is important to understand that climate change is a process. We are therefore not talking about adapting to a new standard ,but to a constantly shifting set of conditions. This is why ,in part at least ,the US National Climate Assessment says that :“There is no ‘one-size_fits_all’adaptation .” Nevertheless ,there are some actions that offer much and carry little risk or cost.Around the world ,people are adapting in surprising ways ,especially in some poor countries.Floods have become more damaging in Bangladesh in recent decades.Mohammed Rezwan saw opportunity where others saw only disaster. His not-for-profit organization runs 100 river boats that serve as floating libraries ,schools ,and health clinics ,and are equipped with solar panels and other communicating facilities.Rezwan is creating floating connectivity(连接)to replace flooded roads and highways. But he is also working at a far more fundamental level :his staff show people how to make floating gardens and fish ponds to prevent starvation during the wet season.Elsewhere in Asia even more astonishing actions are being taken.Chewang Norphel lives in a mountainous region in India, where he is known as the Ice Man.The loss of glaciers(冰川)there due to global warming represents an enormous threat to agriculture.Without the glaciers, water will arrive in the rivers at times when it can damage crops.Norphel's inspiration came from seeing the waste of water over winter, when it was not needed. He directed the wasted water into shallow basins where it froze, and was stored until the spring. His fields of ice supply perfectly timed irrigation(灌溉)water.Having created nine such ice reserves,Norphel calculates that he has stored about 200,000m3 of water.Climate change is a continuing process,so Norphel's ice reserves will not last forever.Warming will overtake them. But he is providing a few years during which the farmers will, perhaps,be able to find other means of adapting.Increasing Earth's reflectiveness can cool the planet. In southern Spain the sudden increase of greenhouses(which reflect light back to space)has changed the warming trend locally, and actually cooled the region. While Spain as a whole is heating up quickly, temperatures near the greenhouses have decreased. This example should act as an inspiration for all cities.By painting buildings white, cities may slow down the warming process. In Peru, local farmers around a mountain with a glacier that has already fallen victim to climate change have begun painting the entire mountain peak white in the hope that the added reflectiveness will restore the life-giving ice.The outcome is still far from clear. But the World Bank has included the project on its list of “100 ideas to save the planet”.More ordinary forms of adaptation are happening everywhere.A friend of mine owns an area of land in western Victoria.Over five generations the land has been too wet for cropping. But during the past decade declining rainfall has allowed him to plant highly profitable crops.Farmers in many countries are also adapting like this—either by growing new produce,or by growing the same things differently. This is common sense. But some suggestions for adapting are not. When the pollutingindustries argue that we've lost the battle to control carbon pollution and have no choice but to adapt,it's a nonsense designed to make the case for business as usual.Human beings will continue to adapt to the changing climate in both ordinary and astonishing ways. But the most sensible form of adaptation is surely to adapt our energy systems to emit less carbon pollution. After all,if we adapt in that way,we may avoid the need to change in so many others.1.The underlined part in Paragraph 2 implies________.A.adaptation is an everchanging processB.the cost of adaptation varies with timeC.global warming affects adaptation formsD.adaptation to climate change is challenging2.What is special with regard to Rezwan's project?A.The project receives government support.B.Different organizations work with each other.C.His organization makes the best of a bad situation.D.The project connects flooded roads and highways.3.What did the Ice Man do to reduce the effect of global warming?A.Storing ice for future use.B.Protecting the glaciers from melting.C.Changing the irrigation time.D.Postponing the melting of the glaciers.4.What do we learn from the Peru example?A.White paint is usually safe for buildings.B.The global warming trend cannot be stopped.C.This country is heating up too quickly.D.Sunlight reflection may relieve global warming.5.According to the author, polluting industries should________.A.adapt to carbon pollutionB.plant highly profitable cropsC.leave carbon emission aloneD.fight against carbon pollution6.What's the author's preferred solution to global warming?A.Setting up a new standard.B.Reducing carbon emission.C.Adapting to climate change.D.Monitoring polluting industries.【语篇解读】本文是一篇说明文。

________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________2Tuberculosis(TB,肺结核)killed 1,300,000 people around the world in 2007.In addition, almost half a million people who were infected with tuberculosis and with HIV also died. Those were listed as HIV deaths.About onethird of all people are infected with tuberculosis. But the body’s natural defenses are usually strong enough to prevent an active case.Even so,the bacteria remain in the body.If the immune system weakens at any point, they begin to spread and then attack. The bacteria that cause TB usually settle in the lungs. They spread through the air when the person coughs or even sings and talks. One of the most important things is to identify cases quickly. The patients need to be kept away from other people and begin treatment as soon as possible.Multidrug resistant tuberculosis(耐多药肺结核),or MDRTB,will not get better with antibiotics(抗生素)normally used for tuberculosis. So doctors must use stronger, “second line” drugs when the first ones fail. Now,researchers say they have found a much faster way to identify drugresistant TB.The st udy’s lead author is Graham Hatfull at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. The scientists used viruses called bacteriophages(噬菌体)to speed the process. These viruses attack bacteria. The researchers injected them with a gene that produces green light. They also injected some with first line antibiotics and others with second line drugs. Then they combined the bacteriophages with TB bacteria. If the bacteria produces green light,it means they are drugresistant. The researchers say a clinic worker could identify the green light with equipment easy to get in many clinics.Test results would not have to wait for the bacteria to grow in a laboratory far away. For now,the test itself needs more testing. But Professor Hatfull is hopeful this will take months and not years.Title:1.Tuberculosis3From the beginning of human history, people have used oils from seeds and nuts. Most of the time these oils are used as food, especially in cooking. But sometimes they have other uses. For example, oils are used in paint and in cleaning products likesoap.Oils are separated from seeds by using pressure.A machine called a press is often used. The first step in pressing the oil from seeds is to crush the seeds between two stones. The crushed seeds are then put into a cloth bag and the bag is hung up.Some of the oil will flow out of the bag and can be collected. But some oils will remain in the crushed seeds inside the bag.The easiest way to get the rest of the oil out is to place heavy rocks on the crushed material.Another method is to place several cloth bags on top of each other in a box. Then a long wooden stick is used to slowly push a heavy cover down on the bags.Great pressure is produced in this way.Much greater pressure can be produced by using a machine,a hydraulic jack(液压千斤顶).The greater the pressure is,the more oils will be produced.Small presses are important in areas where electricity or gasoline cannot be used. They are also a good way to test if a local market for oils exists.Small batch presses can be made of local materials.Their cost is low. They are not difficult to operate. And they are easy to repair. The small presses produce good quality oils. But the work is hard. And getting all the oil from the seeds can be difficult. If there is a large supply of seeds, then handoperated presses may not be enough to support a rge powered presses that can operate all day are needed.答案1参考范文Do They Have to Say Thanks?Do they have to say thanks? Some people say yes. They think when others donate money to us,we should be thankful. After all,it’s not others’ duty to help us.Besides,if people continue helping the five students, they will take it for granted. As a result, they will become selfish.Others, however, think the students need not say thanks. They think saying “thanks” in words is not the only way to show appreciation.Studying hard and doing something in return for society in the future are the best way to show their thanks. On the other hand, helping others is a kind of happiness. In my opinion, maybe some students are not good at expressing their feelings. But when getting help, they should say “Thank you”.21.Tuberculosis 2.number 3.weakens 4.causing 5.spread 6.Measures 7.Identifying 8.patients 9.treatment 10.stronger31.Take/Separate/Press/Getes/Usages3.Hang4.remaining5.contain/hold6.amount/quantity7.price 8.short/lack 9.powered 10.deal/do。

2019届高考英语二轮复习考点讲解学案之:话题二十三 环境保护(A) Word版含解析
话题二十三环境保护(A)A[2018·浙江6月·B]Steven Stein likes to follow garbage trucks. His strange habit makes sense when you consider that he's an environmental scientist who studies how to reduce litter, including things that fall off garbage trucks as they drive down the road. What is even more interesting is that one of Stein's jobs is defending an industry behind the plastic shopping bag.Americans use more than 100 billion thin film plastic bags every year. So many end up in tree branches or along highways that a growing number of cities do not allow them at checkouts (收银台). The bags are prohibited in some 90 cities in California, including Los Angeles. Eyeing these headwinds,_plastic-bag makers are hiring scientists like Stein to make the case that their products are not as bad for the planet as most people assume.Among the bag makers' arguments: many cities with bans still allow shoppers to purchase paper bags, which are easily recycled but require more energy to produce and transport. And while plastic bags may be ugly to look at, they represent a small percentage of all garbage on the ground today. The industry has also taken aim at the product that has appeared as its replacement: reusable shopping bags. The stronger a reusable bag is, the longer its life and the more plastic-bag use it cancels out. However, longer-lasting reusable bags often require more energy to make. One study found that a cotton bag must be used at least 131 times to be better for the planet than plastic.Environmentalists don't dispute(质疑) these points. They hope paper bags will be banned someday too and want shoppers to use the same reusable bags for years.体裁:议论文题材:环境保护主题:塑料袋和可重复使用纸袋【文章大意】该文是一篇议论文,主要讲述了塑料袋和可重复使用纸袋的情况。

类型6| 生态环保(2016·北京高考·C )California Condor's Shocking RecoveryCalifornia condorCalifornia condors are North America's largest birds ,with wing -length of up to 3 meters. In the 1980s ,electrical lines and lead poisoning(铅中毒) nearly drove them to dying out.Now ,electric shock training and medical treatment are helping to rescue these big birds. In the late 1980s ,the last few condors were taken from the wild to be bred(繁殖).Since 1992,there have been multiple reintroductions to the wild ,and there are now more than 150 flying over California and nearby Arizona ,Utah and Baja in Mexico.Electrical lines have been killing them off.“As they go in to rest for the night ,they just don't see the power lines ,” says Bruce Rideout of San Diego Zoo.Their wings can bridge the gap between lines ,resulting in electrocution (电死) if they touch two lines at once.So scientists have come up with a shocking idea.Tall poles ,placed in large training areas ,teach the birds to stay clear of electrical lines by giving them a painful but undeadly electric shock. Before the training was introduced ,66% of set -free birds died of electrocution. This has now dropped to 18%.Lead poisoning has proved more difficult to deal with. When condors eat dead bodies of other animals containing lead, they absorb large quantities of lead. This affects their nervous systems and ability to produce baby birds, and can lead to kidney(肾) failure and death. So condors with high levels of lead are sent to Los Angeles Zoo,where they are treated with calcium EDTA,a chemical that removes lead from the blood over several days. This work is starting to pay off.The annual death rate for adult condors has dropped from 38% in 2000 to 5.4% in 2011.Rideout's team thinks that the California condors' average survival time in the wild is now just under eight years.“Although these measures are not effective forever, they are vital for now,”he says.“They are truly good birds that are worth every effort we put into recovering them.”63.California condors attract researchers' interest because they ________.A.are active at nightB.had to be bred in the wildC.are found only in CaliforniaD.almost died out in the 1980s64.Researchers have found electrical lines are ________.A.blocking condors' journey homeB.big killers of California condorsC.rest places for condors at nightD.used to keep condors away65.According to Paragraph 5,lead poisoning ________.A.makes condors too nervous to flyB.has little effect on condors' kidneysC.can hardly be gotten rid of from condors' bloodD.makes it difficult for condors to produce baby birds66.This passage shows that ________.A.the average survival time of condors is satisfactoryB.Rideout's research interest lies in electric engineeringC.the efforts to protect condors have brought good resultsD.researchers have found the final answers to the problem语篇解读:本文是一篇说明文。

组合练(十五)环境保护Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2023·湖北武汉七校联考)It's hard to imagine a snowstorm in Texas could be caused by the Arctic, right? They're thousands of miles away from each other! But if we take a closer look, scientists are theorizing(从理论上说明) that rapid heating of the Arctic can drive cold air from the North Pole further south, and surprisingly enough, can end up where we'd leastexpect.Unfortunately any measure of extreme weather leads to highdemand in electricity, which can cause energy infrastructure(基础设施) to burn out.Likely so,this past week, over 4 million people were, and currently are, stuck in freezing weather conditions without electricity in Texas,a wellknown warm US state.Who's to blame? What's to blame? Fingers are pointed in multiple directions as to what the root cause is.Judah Cohen, the director of seasonal forecasting at Atmospheric and Environmental Research, explained,“This can't boil down to natural causes.A warming planet is partially to blame, at least, we theorize. But science is behind this historical phenomenon.” When we see a natural disaster involving heat, we usually link it with climate change. Is that where we place the rest of the blame involving Texas? While it seems a bit uncharacteristic, scientists hypothesize(假设) that sudden winter storms are associated with climate change. As the Arctic is “currently one of the fastest-warming regions on the planet”,the rising temperatures may increase the odds of an imbalanced polar vortex(极涡).As climate continues to warm, it's suggested that this can and will happen more frequently.Natural disasters have proven that we need to become adequately prepared for what Mother Nature with a dash of climate change can do.Systems need to be created with reliable and lasting capabilities that can carry the next unexpected and possibly worse phenomenon.1.What is the main purpose of the first paragraph?A.To introduce polarbased scientific theories.B.To explore why Texas suffered cold weather.C.To figure out damage caused by power failure.D.To show how weather patterns affect the planet.2.What is responsible for extreme weather according to Judah Cohen?A.Gases. B.Science.C.The Arctic. D.Nature.3.What message does the author convey in the last paragraph?A.Unite to fight against the unexpected.B.Run a race to balance the world's climate.C.Develop a weather broadcasting system.D.Get wellprepared for the worse to come.4.How is the text mainly developed?A.By making theoretical analysis.B.By conducting experiments.C.By listing examples.D.By making comparisons.[语篇解读]文章主要分析了全球变暖的原因,指出了全球变暖造成的影响,并提出了人们应采取的应对之举。
