Cowboys, Policemen, Princesses and Superheroes are all characters kids choose to be on any given day. Putting on a play can be a fun activity that lets them act out their favorite characters as well as use their artistic ability to create the stage.
Best of all, they will be able to use their favorite line “look at me” as the audience sits down to enjoy the show.
Help your kids decide on a play they would like to act out. Use the Internet or library to find scripts (剧本) for older reading kids. For younger kids, you can act out a favorite story or fairy tale. Of course, you could always help them write their own script.
Decide how many characters are needed. Invite neighbors and friends to be in your play or let your kids play more than one character. Make sure you teach them to change the way they look, move and speak so the audience can tell the difference.
Search for costume (服装) and prop (道具). Find old clothes from your closet or attic (阁楼), or go to a garage sale. Help everyone make a mask or put on makeup to represent their character.
Get creative. Make tickets, invitations, movie p osters and props for your kids’ play. You can even decorate a curtain and hang in front of the stage. Set up chairs for
the audience. Invite the audience to sit down and enjoy the play.

Swimming to Survive
When humpback whales migrate (迁徙), they only travel 100 miles in about 24 hours.
Some humpback whales migrate from Costa Rica to Antarctica without stopping. That’s over 5,000 miles! Other humpbacks travel from Hawaii to Alaska, a distance of
Whales live in all of Earth’s oceans. Each group has its own migration route ( 路线). The map shows routes taken by humpbacks in the North Pacific Ocean.
From North to South
How does migration help humpback whales survive? They spend the winter in warm water. This is where they have their babies. When summer comes, the whales head back to colder waters. There they feed on tiny fish and shrimp called krill. Lots of krill live in these icy waters.
Why do the whales make this long trip every year? Without it they would be
hungry to death. One whale needs about 3,000 pounds of food a day. The whales fatten up on krill before leaving the cold waters. As they migrate, they leave off the fat stored in their bodies.
Do whales ever get lost? Scientists are unsure how the whales know which direction to head. Maybe they learn the routes from traveling with older whales.
Protecting the Whales
Years ago, whales were killed for their blubber, or fat and their meat. Most hunters didn’t realize the influence hunting had on the whale population (数量).
By 1966 only about 1,400 humpbacks remained in the North Pacific. To protect humpbacks, the whales were listed as an endangered species It is now against the law to kill a humpback. As a result, the number of whales has greatly increased. About 21,000 humpbacks live in North Pacific today. As a precaution, all humpbacks are still listed as endangered.
29.How does moving to cold waters influence the whale population?
A.It lets them cool off.
B.It helps them stay fit.
C.It helps them lose weight.
D.It provides food they need.
30.Read the underlined sentence in the article. If caution means “a warning about a
problem”, what does precaution mean?
A.After warning about a problem.
B.Warning about a problem again.
C.A warning before a problem happens.
D.Being against warning about problems.
31.What is the main idea of the article?
A.Migration helps whales live.

C.Whales survive only by swimming.
D.Whales migrate thousands of miles.

English schools prepare for return after six-month break Now schools in England are preparing to welcome back pupils after nearly six months out of the classroom.
The education secretary Gavin Williamson insisted that students were returning to a safe environment, and said the reopening of schools was a massive milestone.
Teachers have been returning today with most children due back from tomorrow to the end of the week, as our education reporter Branwen Jefferys tells us: Kirsty’s getting ready for the new term to welcome her class back to lessons and sending her own son back to his school.

So what happens if a case is confirmed (确定)?
Schools will have to ask close contacts (接触) of the person who’s tested positive (阳性) to self-isolate (自我隔离). Did you know that when you surf the web,
websites in some countries put secret software on your
computer? The software collects a large amount of
information about you and sends it to internet
companies. The internet companies sell it to other businesses. Your personal information can also be gathered from social media sites. There are many ways your information can be used.
First, companies collect your information and record all your online habits. They find out where you live, what websites you visit and what you do online. With this information, they can guess other things about you. For example, they can guess if you are male or female, how old you are and your interests. The companies use this information to decide which ads are best for you. Two people can go to the same website, but they will see different ads. For example, someone who likes sports could see ads for trainers, and someone who likes films might see ads for a film.
Your personal information could also be sold. Some companies collect information just so they can sell it to other businesses. A business that collects and sells personal information is called a data broker. When data brokers sell your information, a lot of different companies will know your online habits. Then the companies will advertise products or other websites to you.
Another way your personal information can be collected is through social media. When your information is on social media, a lot of people can see it. Even if you don’t use social media, a friend might post a picture or video of you with your name on it. Pictures and videos can be shared for free on social media, which is one of the great advantages. However that same act of sharing could be a problem for your own security (安全). If someone knows too much about you, they steal your identity. Then they can buy things online and post messages while pretending (假装) to be you.
. The law is finally changing when it comes to technology. In the European Union, for example, they have introduced the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This rule means that internet users can now ask companies to show them what information they have about them and even make them delete it. If other countries do the same, the internet could soon be a much safer place.
36.According to paragraph 2, what will the companies find by collecting your
information?
① age and hobbies ② online activities ③ address ④ job
A. ①②③
B. ①②④
C. ①③④
D. ②③④
37.Your personal information can be directly collected through the following
EXCEPT .
A. social media

C. advertisement companies
D. secret software
38.Which of the following statements is WRONG?
A.Date brokers can make money by selling personal information to other
businesses.
B.Data brokers can’t get your information if your friend posts a video of you
with your name on it.
C.According to GDPR, we can ask companies to delete our personal information
they have collected online.
D.Different people can see different ads on the same websites because their
online habits have been gathered.
39.Which sentence is the most suitable for the beginning of the last paragraph?
A.However, it’s not all bad news.
B.Anyway, every coin has two sides.
C.Actually, different people have different opinions.
D.Indeed, people believe things are changing for the worse.
40.This article mainly tells us .

Hybrid or Electric
Many people know that burning gasoline (汽油) causes pollution. These people are giving serious consideration to buying an electric or a hybrid car
Electric cars run on batteries rather than gas. These batteries send electricity to an electric motor. When they get low on energy, they must be plugged in to recharge (再充电).
The two main types of hybrid cars run on both gas and electricity. One type uses mostly electricity. It must be plugged in to recharge its batteries. The electric motor turns the wheels. The gas engine helps create electricity. The other type of hybrid gets most of its power from a small gas engine. An electric motor serves as support. The gas engine recharges the batteries while the car is running.
Neither the electric car nor the hybrid is a new invention. In fact, the electric car has been around since the 1880s. The cost of gas keeps going up. This makes more people interested in buying electric and hybrid cars. More people are worried about pollution, too. That’s why carmakers offer more electric and hybrid cars every year. Advantages of an Electric Car
Electric cars cost very little to recharge. They also create almost no pollution. These are often called neighborhood cars. Older models run for about 40 miles (64 kilometers) on one charge. Newer models run up to 200 miles (322 kilometers) on one charge. The electirc car can use any electrical outlet to recharge.
Electric cars run very quietly. They also cost less to maintain because they have fewer moving parts. This makes the car more dependable. However it can cost as much as ten thousand dollars to replace the batteries in these cars!
Advantages of Hybrid Cars
Hybrid cars refuel at any gas station. In fact, they can run on gas for as long as necessary. Gas-powered engines require upkeep. Plus, the battery for these cars costs
the same as an electric car battery.
Electric and hybrid cars have one other similarity. Both cost more than gas-powered cars. But they are becoming less expensive each year.
Drivers who don’t travel very far might find an electric car will meet their needs. Some drivers don’t want to worry about recharging. They also travel farther from home. A hybrid car would be a good choice for these people. The important thing is to choose the car that is right for you!

Part 2
1. A
解析:Taking photos of the art (which is ) displayed is not allowed.

11.C
解析:首先考查be worth doing 值得被做,再加上listen to the song,因为listen 时不及物动词,介词to 不可省略。

14. B

31. A 主旨题。

34.A 态度推断题通过最后一段getting schools open, pupils back ,is one social challenge,说明人们觉得这件事情是challenging 有挑战性的。

44.decisions.
45.achieving. devote to doing sth. achieving

48. eighties. in one’s

56.instead.

所以是instead of。

57.enough.

58.create.

59.reasons.

60.rising/increasing.
61.worrying.定位到原文第四段第三行people are worried about pollution。

be worried about= worry about
62.Advantages.

63.farther.

64.expensive.

65.needs. 定位到原文最后一行,choose the car that is right for you 可以得出是根据自己的需要选择正确的车。

66.half. 66. imagine.

68.succeed.

69.all.

70.but. 前面是not because 后文是but because,not but 表示不是……

71.face.

72.under. be under stress
pleted.

74.expecting.

Stop doing

75.happier.
