blend, mix, mingle, merge, combine
Blend常用于小心地按比率混合各种东西以 求得到某种特别的味道,气味等,如: e.g. Majesty and simplicity happily ~ed together.庄严和 together.
质朴恰到好处地交融在一起 e.g. Which ~ of coffee would you like?你要哪种混合咖 啡? E.g. ~ spices 混合香料 ~ed whisky 混合威士忌
Mix 作“使混合;使混和”解时,是用于物质 方面最常用的词,如: e.g. Mix butter, eggs, and flour. e.g. The workmen ~ed sand, gravel, and cement to make concrete. e.g. His wife ~ed him a hot drink of milk, sugar and chocolate.他妻子为他调制了一杯牛奶,糖和巧 克力热饮
Vocabulary
slide, slip, glide, coast, skid, slither These verbs mean to move smoothly and continuously over or as if over a slippery surface. Slide usually implies rapid, easy movement without loss of contact with the surface: e.g. The drops slid from a lifted oar. 水滴从抬起的桨上滑下来。
Key structures
There + be Present and past participle used as a modifier of a noun (not) as/so…as… As if clause in which the subjunctive is used

artificial

giant

steer v.
1. [I or T] to control the direction of a vehicle: e.g. He ~ed the ship carefully between the rocks. 他小心地在礁石间驾驶船。 2. [I or T] If a vehicle steers, it follows a particular route or direction: e.g. The ship passed Land's End, then steered towards southern Ireland. 3. [T, usu. + adverb or preposition] to take someone or something, or cause them to go, in the direction in which you want them to go: e.g. She ~ed her guests into the dining room. e.g. The main task of the new government will be to ~ the country towards democracy.
Mingle 1. 通常作不及物动词,可以用于人,如: e.g. I ~d with the crowed. 2. 也可用于流动的液体,如: e.g. The fresh water of the Amazon ~s with the salt water of South Atlantic. Merge 用做不及物动词时,通常译为“消失,融 入” e.g. an insect that ~s with its surroundings 融如环境中的昆虫 e.g. the place where two roads ~两条路交汇之处

skim
1. to glide or pass quickly and lightly over: e.g. The swallows were ~ming over the water. 燕子掠过水面。 2. To read or glance through (a book, for example) quickly or superficially. e.g. ~med through the newspaper 3. sight
1. sth. worth seeing, a spectacle e.g. If you plan to take a trip to England, you must see the sights of London. 2. The act of fact of seeing e.g. As he traveled in the jungle, the birdman suddenly caught sight of a rare bird.
blend
v. [I or T] to mix or combine together: e.g. Blend the ingredients into a smooth paste. The cushions ~ well with the colour of the carpet. (协调) n. [C] a mixture of different things or styles: e.g. a rich ~ of the finest coffee beans Their music is a ~ of jazz and African rhythms.
Glide refers to smooth, free-flowing, seemingly effortless movement: Glide指平 滑的、自由浮动的运动,看似毫不费力: e.g. Four snakes were ~ing up and down a hollow. 四条蛇在一个山谷里上下滑行 e.g. A submarine ~d silently through the water. 一艘潜水艇无声地在水中滑行
Coast applies especially to downward movement resulting from the effects of gravity or momentum: Coast尤指由于重力 或惯性造成的向下运动: e.g. The driver turned off the engine and let the truck coast down the incline. 司机关掉了马达让卡车滑下斜坡。
tune
be in/out of tune with sb/sth If you are in tune with people or ideas, you understand or agree with them, and if you are out of tune with them, you do not: e.g. Much of his success comes from being in tune with what his customers want. e.g. Her theories were out of tune with the scientific thinking of the time. tune in ( phrasal verb) / be tuned in to have a good understanding of what is happening in a situation or what other people are thinking: e.g. She just doesn't seem to be tuned in to her students' needs.
Slip can refer to smooth, easy, and quiet passage: Slip可以指平滑、轻松,而且安静的通过: e.g. The jackals slipped back to the hills. 豺狼溜回了山里。 More often, however, the term is applied to accidental sliding resulting in loss of balance or foothold: 而且,这个词更多地用于意外地由 于失去平衡或立足点而打滑: e.g. He slipped on a patch of ice and sprained his ankle. 他在一块冰上滑了一跤,扭伤了脚踝。
