皇帝的新装英语复述
The Emperor’s New Clothes
Once upon a time, there lived an Emperor who was so obsessed with his appearance that he spent all his time and money on clothes. He had the finest tailors in the land work to make him exquisite suits and garments to show off.
Once, two cunning swindlers arrived in town, claiming to be master weavers. They promised to make the finest cloth the world had ever seen for the Emperor. They claimed their cloth was so fine that it was invisible to the foolish or the unworthy. Intrigued, the Emperor offered them a large sum of money from his treasury to craft his suit.
The swindlers accepted the job and pretended to set to work. The Emperor was so eager for them to finish he even sent his own messengers to check on their progress. But all they found was the two of them sitting amongst threads and wool.
Finally, they presented the Emperor with a package of
‘clothes,’ saying it was ready and that only those who were wise and honest could see the clothes. But no one in the court could see a thing.
The Emperor was too embarrassed to admit he couldn’t see anything, so he put on the clothes and thanked the swindlers.
Then, he marched through town, pretending to wear the splendid outfit, while in reality he was wearing nothing.
When a small child cried out that the Emperor was wearing no clothes, the people of the town suddenly realized what was going on.
The Emperor was left naked and exposed, and a lesson was learned that day about not falling prey to the false promises of con-artists.。
