frightened adj.惊吓的；害怕的
以-ing和-ed结尾的词可用作表语和定语。

其区别是：以-ing结尾的词常用来说明事物的性质特征；以-ed结尾的词常用来说明主语（通常指人）所处的状态。

frighten v. 使害怕；使惊恐frightening adj.令人恐惧的
同义词： scare v. scared adj. scaring adj.
常用短语: be frightened of (doing )sth = be scared of (doing)sth 害怕(做)某事

②常见的原因状语从句的引导词有because, as和since等。

其中，because语气最强，用来表示直接的原因，强调他人未知的事实，常常用以回答Why提出的问题。

今天早上由于交通拥挤，我迟到了十分钟。

Because the traffic was heavy, I was ten minutes late this morning.
This morning, I was ten minutes late because of the heavy traffic.
