趣谈“turkey”与“Turkey”

【摘要】“turkey”一词的本义是“火鸡”或“火鸡肉”。
在每年十一月的最后
一个星期四，也就是美国的传统节日——感恩节（Thanksgiving Day）这天，人们餐桌上主要食物之一就是roast turkey（烤火鸡）。
而大写“T”的
“Turkey“则是亚洲的一个国家——土耳其的国名。
那么，“turkey”与“Turkey”这一对同音同形异义词究竟有什么历史渊源呢？
