Step 1: Playing a guessing game
T: Let ’s play a guessing game first. It ’s about different foods and drinks.
1. a cold drink, young people like it, it gives you energy, but there is too much sugar, it can make you fat (Coke)
2. i t is sweet and brown (chocolate)
3. a hot drink, Chinese like drinking it without anything in it (tea)
4. t his animal lives in water, its meat can make you cleverer (fish)
5. i t is round and sweet, you usually eat it at the Mid.Autumn Festival (mooncake)
6. a yellow fruit, it tastes sour (lemon)
Step 2: Finishing off Part A
Read the words above, and then write them in Part A, read again.
Step 3: Practice (Part B)
Show the pictures in Part B to students, and ask them to make up a conversation in pairs.
Then ask the students to put the food into the correct groups in the table of Part B.
Step 4: Extension activity
Ask students to think of more names of food and put them into the five groups in Part B.
e.g. Meat: chicken Fruit: watermelons Drink: tea Sweet snacks: pudding

Step 6: Playing a game
Divide the class into groups of four. One student thinks of a food. The other students ask one question at a time and try to guess what food the student is thinking of. Is it a kind of fruit / vegetable / meat /…?
Is it sweet / sour / round / yellow /…?
The student who answers the questions can only say yes or no.
Step 7: Giving a summary
T: In this period, we’ve learned the names of different foods. And we’ve got to know how to group them.
Step 8: Doing consolidation exercises
根据英文解释,写出相应的单词

2. a kind of drink which es from cows
3. bread with meat and vegetables between it
