Should Humility Be Abandoned in Today"s Society?
Many a people in today"s society hold that humility has lost its glamour and virtue, and a person should be good at self-promoting and show his or her ability to the full extent, thus, humility can be casted away. Whereas, in my mind, humility can never be abandoned, though self-promotion is very important for a person to grasp an opportunity.
Indeed, sometimes, self-promotion is necessary and important; it"s beneficial for us to master some skills. More importantly, humility should still be one part of our characteristics, which would make us special and different.
On the one hand, humble people are all wise. They know clearly who they are, and what they have and have not. They do not exaggerate their abilities and potencies, so they won"t feel much pressure on their shoulders. They promise to do what they can accomplish, and from which they can build up more confidence. They work in a positive cycle, which help them realize their ambitions and self-worth in a relaxed and easy way.
On the other hand, humble people can make more friends and have a relatively good relationship with others. Because they have no intention to outshine others" capabilities, but often make other people **fortable and less constrained. Thus, the people around them will not feel being pressed and free from pressure.
In short, humility remains an important aspect of our splendid qualities and should never be abandoned. [解析]

Dreams
Hughs says in his poem dreams, "For if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird, that can never fly" and "For when dreams go, life is a barren field frozen only with snow." A dream is to a man what wings are to a bird; a dream is to a life what spring is to a field. Dream is of tantalizing glamour and a few touches it adds to our life and
then we can fly with our imagination, grow with the vitality.
With a dream in the deep heart"s core, a man will take the initiative to hitch his wagon to a star. Old and plain-looking, Susan bravely took part in the Britain"s Got Talent, singing the song I Dreamed a Dream and aspiring to become a professional singer as successful as Elaine Paige, and rose to stardom overnight. Oprah, the well-known talk show host, experienced considerable hardship during her childhood, claiming to be raped at age nine, became pregnant at 14 and landed a job when in high school, but she didn"t give up on her dream to be a host and is now best known for her self-titled, multi-award-winning talk show. The examples are countless and all of them point to the fact that dreams, like a compass when you get lost in the sea, lead you to the right direction and destination.
In a nutshell, just as Willard Smith said in his movie The Pursuit of Happiness , if you have a dream, go and get it. Don"t let anybody
tell you that you are unable to make it. If you have a dream, hold fast to it. [解析]

Competition or Cooperation
A long-existing law in **mercial world tells us that **petition serves as a stimulus for people to make improvements since one is
obliged to work hard and diligently to keep up or even stand out under stressful circumstances. Nevertheless, compared **petition, cooperation has its special advantages.
Cooperation is based on mutual benefits, which makes it superior to competition **petition is one-side benefit. Just as George Bernard Shaw says, "If you have an apple and I have an apple, and we exchange apples, we both still only have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea, and we exchange ideas, we each now have two ideas." If we compete, one idea wins without better itself. However, if these two ideas cooperate, they can try to adjust themselves and finally there will be two ideas polished.
Union is strength. Every member of a group can make a contribution through cooperation and finally creates a better result. As a single person, everyone"s power and wisdom is extremely limited and finite. Notwithstanding, cooperation tends to transform the restricted strength into infinite power.
People in the whole society are like in a symphony orchestra. Although everybody should polish his instrument and sharpen
**petitive edge so as to play his part well, they should also act in unison with others. Cooperation should never be overlooked.

Should One Be Rewarded When Doing a Good Deed?
What is in your mind when you are helping a blind passerby to go across the street? Are you expecting to be paid or attempting to be praised by those around you? Should one expect a reward when doing a good deed? This question has raised an intense controversy. Some
insist that those who do good deeds deserve to be paid and praised, but some claim that offering a helping hand has long been a
traditional virtue and definitely don"t need to be paid. I am a
strong supporter of the latter.
Doing good deeds is a kind of voluntary work, and is purely our own choice. Offering a helping hand with the intention that we will be rewarded in whatever way is the last thought we should bear in mind. Usually, when we try to help others, we are out of compassion, sympathy or conscience. The conscience is the sense of responsibility we hold as a civil citizen, a human being.
Meanwhile, "The rose is in her hand, the flavor in mine." Though that we do good deeds are not expecting some rewards, the sense of having the ability to help others, the feelings of seeing others out of adversity would give us a kind of happiness, satisfaction and **fort. Doing good deeds is rewarded by the action itself.
In a nutshell, being ready to help others is good virtue and we
should not expect a reward from it. Then the action of helping others will reward us with a big surprise: real happiness, self-fulfillment and a sense of existence. [解析]

The Art of Praise
Almost everyone like being praised by others, because, sometimes, praise can make them more confident. But, there are some cases in which people being praised can not do as well as before or even lose their strength moving forward. So, we would say, it is important to master the art of praise.
Then, what kind of art does praise need? And in a specific way, what should we do?
Firstly, praise should be simple and specific. Let the person clearly know what earns the praise, and they will focus on that point and improve it continuously. And, In such way, they would believe that we praise them in a sincere manner. On the contrary, if we praise a person in a very general way, they will doubt about what we say, and even be suspicious of our good faith.
Secondly, we should not praise too much. Praise is like salt in our meals, with which our foods are tastier, but, if there are too much, they will spoil the original flavor of our foods. For example, if you always praise a child for his good grades, he is likely to transfer his interest from study to praise over time. That is, praise becomes his purpose to study rather than taking study as his interest. Thus, praise too much could be very detrimental.
Last but not least, whenever we praise someone, we should do it from the bottom of our heart. The praise from our hearts can never fail. [解析]
