★teach oneself意为“自学”,相当于learn...by oneself.

(2) “Maybe I’m not good enough to be a singer, ” I said to myself.我心里想:“或许我还不够好去成为一位歌唱家。”
★encourage sb. to do sth. “鼓励某人做某事” ★take part in 参加
