TodayБайду номын сангаасs Objectives
• To review the homework • Making Effective Presentations cont’d • To assign and explain homework
Last Week’s Homework
• Research and prepare a 3-4 minute speech on the way in which an everyday classroom item works. It could be as simple as an eraser or as complicated as a calculator. Whatever you choose, don’t make it too complicated and don’t make it too easy either. Pick something that will make a good presentation for the full time. • Make sure that you prepare a speech that your audience (i.e. your classmates) can understand. You can use up to 3 pictures/diagrams (but you DON’T HAVE TO), and you can bring the item you are presenting on to class (but you DON’T HAVE TO) • You will not lose marks if you do not bring things – the most important thing to try to do is make an effective presentation. Keep that in mind!
Homework
• You are a visiting travel agent from a famous city in the world (eg. Paris, Sydney, Cairo, Moscow, etc). You are attending a conference of travel agents and tourists, and you have been asked to give a 3 minute speech on your destination. The purpose of your speech is to inform the audience about your destination AND to make them want to visit. Prepare an appropriate speech.
Exercise: Informative Speeches
• For the following “brief description”, produce a 2 minute informative presentation. • Ensure that your presentation is clear, logical and organized. • Your presentation will be compared to those of others – so make sure that yours is the most appealing.
