岳阳市金鹗杯2016英语说课
Good morning everyone!
Today, I am going to give a presentation on how to teach the English lesson titled "City versus Countryside" for fourth-grade students.
Firstly, let's start with the learning objectives. By the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
1. Identify and correctly pronounce vocabulary related to the city and countryside.
2. Understand the similarities and differences between living in the city and countryside.
3. Use appropriate vocabulary and sentence structures to describe their own living environment.
To achieve these objectives, I have chosen a variety of teaching aids and activities.
1. Warm-up activity: I will start the lesson by showing students different pictures of the city and countryside. I will ask them to discuss in groups what they can see in each picture and encourage them to share their answers with the whole class. This will activate students' prior knowledge and engage them in the topic.
2. Presentation: Next, I will introduce key vocabulary related to the topic, such as "skyscraper", "farm", "subway", and "countryside". I will use flashcards and gestures to enhance their understanding and pronunciation of these words. I will also show a short video clip
that depicts city and countryside scenes, which will provide visual context for the vocabulary.
3. Language practice: In this stage, students will participate in several activities to reinforce their understanding of the vocabulary and sentence structures. For example, I will divide the class into pairs and ask one student to describe a city scene and the other student to describe a countryside scene. They will take turns asking each other questions to find similarities and differences between the two. This activity will allow students to practice using the target language and encourage them to think critically.
4. Group discussion: To further develop students' oral communication skills, I will divide the class into small groups and give them a task to prepare a short dialogue comparing city and countryside life. Each group will then present their dialogues to the class, focusing on pronunciation and fluency. This activity promotes cooperation and creativity among students, as they will have to work together to create their dialogues.
5. Wrap-up activity: Finally, I will end the lesson with a class discussion. I will ask students questions like "Which do you prefer, living in the city or countryside? Why?" and encourage them to share their thoughts and opinions. This activity will not only serve as a review of the lesson, but also encourage critical thinking and self-expression.
Throughout the lesson, I will provide continuous feedback and correction. I will also monitor students' progress and adjust the pace accordingly to ensure understanding.
In conclusion, this lesson on "City versus Countryside" aims to provide students with vocabulary and sentence structures to describe their living environment. It incorporates various activities and teaching aids to engage students and develop their language skills. I hope that this lesson will not only enhance students' English proficiency but also broaden their understanding of different lifestyles. Thank you.。
