Ban Smoking Recently, smoking in public places was banned by the government. The law regulates that people should not smoke in varied places such as schools, hospitals, stores and so on.
The effectiveness of the law implementation is, however, not up to people’s expectations. Then, how comes this awkward situation? Several main factors can account for this phenomenon. For one thing, this law is not publicized effectively. In some smokers’ eyes, banning smoking is just making a fuss because smoking is nothing serious. For another,no valid measures follow up the law. In most places, a small fine tends
to become the sole means to implement the law. This “low cost” ignites the smokers’ desire to take a risk.
To solve the problem, effective measures should be adopted. I propose public places should set up “Smoking Sections” to be used by smokers. Besides,better publicity work should be strengthened to enhance every citizen’s awareness of law and health. Most importantly, government
officials must take steps to strictly limit the tobacco industry. Presumably this is the fundamental solution to the problem. (178 words)

For complex reasons, in recent years some Chinese traditional virtues have been forgotten. For instance, in many students’minds, the idea

The rapid development of economy and society drastically distorts and reverses the traditional values, including filial duty and sense of thanksgiving. The second factor stems from parents and schools. Many parents as well as teachers merely attach great importance to the children’s academic performances, but ignore the cultivation of their healthy mental development. The last factor comes from students themselves. Some of them are most self-centered, viewing themselves as number ones, taking their parents’care and dedication for granted.
Personally, this phenomenon ought to be extinguished. Society, schools, parents and students themselves must join their hands together to cultivate students’ filial duty and sense of thanksgiving. Only in this way can we develop

Firstly, traditions can enable people to have the sense of belonging and make them live harmoniously with others. young people’s behaviors and ensure the smooth development of a society. Others, however, argue that young people should be free to behave. For one thing, tradition means the lack of creativity. Keeping too many traditions can restrict young people’s creativity. For another, freedom is the ultimate goal of the human pursuit.
Personally, there is an element of truth in both
opinions, but neither of them holds water. In effect, for any person, only following traditions or only being free to behave can be misleading. Young people may benefit from being given certain freedom to behave while following the good traditions. Only in this way can they achieve a healthy development. (170words)
