What do you do at a sleepover? Many young children gather as a group to play games, watch movies, eat popcorn, and enjoy each other’s company. As they get older, sleepovers are often associated with staying up late,
sharing secrets, and talking about crushes or future plans. However, today’s teenagers are experiencing a new kind of sleepover—one that is highly educational.
Paragraph A
Experts in the field of astrophysics host "cosmic sleepovers" at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) in New York City. These events give teenagers the opportunity to spend a night exploring the mysteries of the universe and rubbing shoulders with real scientists.
Paragraph B
One particular event began on a Friday night with a wind-whipped journey across the Hudson River on ferries to the Dark Sky Observatory at Trailside Museums and Zoo. Forty 13- to 18-year-olds were set to take part in the Cosmic Sleepover.
Paragraph C
"Tonight they will be encouraged to not only observe the cosmos but also record the meteorological data," said Charles Trautwein, a teacher from the Town of Wallkill School District in Orange County.
Paragraph D
There are little details provided for the first part of the adventure. “We can’t tell you everything,” Trautwein said. “But we can tell you that there’s other mysterious science-rel ated stuff.”
Paragraph E
“The weather may be good, but the visibility is bad,” lamented a teenager as Venus flickered in and out of view overhead.
Paragraph F
Anne Gosliner and Scott Block, astrophysicists who both hold a co-host role in the sleepovers, met at graduate school and have since married.
Paragraph G
The cosmic sleepovers have hit upon a unique combination of tenets—an open science night, a sleepover, and a chance for high school students to meet living role models.
Paragraph H
"Students do much better when they get to actually interact with professional scientists rather than simply reading about them. That's why we make almost all of our public programs at AMNH hands-on," said an AMNH spokesperson.
Paragraph I
The sleepovers evolved from regular educational programs at the museum. Nancy L. Trautwein, director of the student sleepovers, decided the next logical step was to offer not only the museum visit but an overnight event as well.
Paragraph J
Being able to stay with experts in the field “gives [students] a real narrative. It gives them a rich and exciting story to attach everything to that they’ve learned,” said Block.
26. You can rub shoulders with astrophysicists at cosmic sleepovers at AMNH.
27. Sleepovers at the museum evolved from regular educational programs.
28. The teenage participants would record meteorological data during the night.
29. A couple who co-host the sleepovers met while studying astrophysics.
30. The sleepovers combine scientific exploration with the chance to meet role models.

In recent years, the number of people diagnosed with autism has been increasing. Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder that affects a person's social interaction, communication, interests, and behavior. It can vary from mild to severe and occurs in all ethnic, social, and economic groups. The causes of autism are still unclear, but both genetic and environmental factors are believed to play a role.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States, about 1 in 68 children has been identified with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Boys are four to five times more likely to be diagnosed with ASD than girls.
While there is no cure for autism, early intervention and appropriate educational programs can make a significant difference in the lives of those affected. Individuals with autism may have strengths in areas such as music, math, art, or memory, and can contribute to society in their own unique ways.

As societies evolved, paper money was introduced to replace the need for carrying heavy coins. The first known use of paper money occurred in China during the Tang Dynasty in the 7th century. The modern system of banknotes, commonly used today, originated in Sweden in the 17th century.
