In 1994, Andy established the “Andy Lau Charity Foundation” which is focused on supporting people in need and to promote a wide range of youth education services. His continuous endeavors and commitment to the community was recognized when he was honored the “Outstanding Young Person Award” in 1999.（香港杰出青年） In the next year, Andy was awarded the “Oustanding Young Person of the World“(世界杰出青年）, the 3rd person from Hong Kong being bestowed this distinguished honor.

• A star of over 100 films and one of Asia's most popular singers, Andy Lau (刘德华) TakWah was born on September 27, 1961 in Hong Kong. He grew up in a very poor area where there was not even running water . the young Tak-Wah had to make up to eight trips a day to collect water for his family. Despite financial problems, Andy's parents encouraged him to do well in school, and upon graduating, he entered the TVB academy, where he studied acting .
In 1982,andy was nominated(提名)for the Best New Artist in the Hongkong film awards.
