十四中学七年级英语上册 Module 4 Healthy food How to prepare and cook food safely素材 (新版)外研版

How to prepare and cook food safelyStudies show that the kitchen contains the most germs in the home. One found that the kitchen sink contains 100,000 times more germs than the bathroom.Germs such as E. coli, campylobacter and salmonella enter the kitchen on o ur hands, raw food and through our pets. They can rapidly spread if we're not careful. If food isn’t cooked, stored and handled correctly, people can become ill with food poisoning, colds, f lu and other conditions.Washing handsOur han ds are one of the main way germs are spread, so it’s important to wash them thoroughly with soap and warm water before cooking, after touching the bin, going to t he toilet, and after touching raw food.Raw meat, including poultry, can contain harmful bacteria that can spread easily to anything it touches. This includes other food, worktops, tables, chopping boards and knives.“Lots of people think they should wash raw chicken, but there's no need," says food hygiene expert Adam Hardgrave. "Any germs on it will be killed if you cook it thoroughly. In fact, if you do wash chicken, you could splash germs on to the sink, worktop, dishes or anything else nearby.”Take particular care to keep raw food aw ay from ready-to-eat foods such as bread, salad and fru it. These foods won’t be cooked before you eat them so any germs that get on to them won’t be killed.“Use different chopping boards for raw and ready-to-eat foods,” says Hardgrave. When storing raw meat, always keep it in a clean, sealed container and place it on the bottom shelf of the fridge where it can’t touch or drip on to other foods.CookingCooking food at the right temperature will ensure that any harmful bacteria are killed. Check that food is piping hot throughout before you eat it.When cooking burgers, sausages, chicken and pork, cut into the middle to check that the meat is no longer pink, that any juices run clear and that it’s piping hot (steam is coming out). When cooking a whole chicken or other bird, pierce the thickest part of the leg (between the drumstick and the thigh) to check that there is no pink meat and that the juices are no longer pink or red.Pork joints and rolled joints shouldn’t be eaten pink or rare. To check when these types of joint are ready to eat, put a skewer into the centre of the meat and check that there is no pink meat and the juices are no l onger pink or red. It’s safe to serve steak and other whole cuts of beef and lamb rare (not cooked in the middle) or blue (seared on the outside) as long as they have been properly sealed (cooked quickly and at a high temperature on the outside only) to kill any bacteria on the meat’s surface. If you’ve cooked food that you’re not going to eat immediately, cool it at room temperature (ideally within one to two hours) and then store it in the fridge. Putting hot food in the fridge means it doesn't cool evenly, which can cause food poisoning.Hardgrave's advice is to store food in the fridge below 5C (41F). “If your fridge has an internal freezer compartment that is iced up, the fridge could struggle to maintain its temperature,” he says.Washing fruit and vegetablesIt's advisable to wash fruit and vegetables under cold running water before you eat them. Thi s helps to remove visible dirt as well as germs that may be on the surface of your fruit and veg.Peeling or cooking fruit and vegetables can also remove these germs.Never use washing-up liquid or other household cleaning products as they might not be safe for human consumption and you may accidently leave some of the product on the food.Cleaning upWash all worktops and chopping boards before and after cooking as they can be a source of cross-contamination.The average kitchen chopping board has around 200% more faecal bacteria on it than the average toilet seat.Damp sponges and cloths are the perfect place for bacteria to breed. Studies have shown the kitchen sponge to have the highest number of germs in t he home. Wash and replace kitchen cloths, sponges and tea towels frequently.。

中西方饮食文化融合英语作文

中西方饮食文化融合英语作文

中西方饮食文化融合英语作文The intermingling of culinary traditions is a captivating testament to globalization's impact, nowhere more evident than in the fusion of Eastern and Western food cultures. This phenomenon, fueled by increased migration, trade, and cross-cultural exchange, has resulted in a gastronomic landscape that is both diverse and delicious, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the evolving nature of food and its role in our lives. Historically, Eastern and Western cuisines have existed as distinct entities, shaped by unique geographical, cultural, and philosophical influences. Eastern culinary traditions, encompassing the vast expanse of Asia, often prioritize balance and harmony, emphasizing fresh, seasonal ingredients, intricate preparation techniques, and a holistic approach to food as nourishment for both body and soul. Western cuisines, rooted in European culinary heritage, tend to focus on bolder flavors, richer textures, and more elaborate presentations, reflecting a cultural emphasis on individual expression andculinary artistry. The convergence of these seemingly disparate culinary worlds has yielded a fascinating array of culinary creations. In major cities across the globe, fusion restaurants seamlessly blend Eastern and Western flavors, techniques, and ingredients, resulting in innovative dishes that tantalize the palate and challenge preconceived notions of culinary boundaries. For instance, the marriage of Japanese sushi with Mexican ingredients, resulting in the now ubiquitous "sushi burrito," exemplifies the creative potential of culinary fusion. This trendextends beyond restaurants, permeating home kitchens as individuals increasingly experiment with cross-cultural culinary creations, incorporating exotic spices, unfamiliar ingredients, and novel cooking methods into their daily meals. Therise of fusion cuisine is not without its critics, some of whom lament thepotential dilution of authentic culinary traditions. Concerns are raised about the misrepresentation or simplification of complex cultural practices, leading to a superficial understanding of the origins and significance of traditional dishes. Others express reservations about the appropriation of cultural elements, questioning the ethical implications of borrowing from other cultures without proper acknowledgement or respect. These concerns highlight the importance of approaching culinary fusion with sensitivity and cultural awareness, ensuring thatculinary borrowing is done thoughtfully and respectfully. Despite these concerns, the fusion of Eastern and Western food cultures presents numerous benefits. From a culinary perspective, it expands the gastronomic horizon, introducing new flavors, textures, and ingredients to both Eastern and Western palates. It encourages culinary innovation and creativity, inspiring chefs and home cooks alike to experiment with new combinations and techniques. From a social and cultural standpoint, culinary fusion fosters cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. By engaging with the food of other cultures, we gain insights into different ways of life, fostering a sense of interconnectedness and shared humanity. The future of Eastern and Western food fusion appears bright, poised for continued evolution and expansion. As globalization intensifies, bringing people and cultures closer together, the culinary landscape will undoubtedly continue to be shaped by cross-cultural influences. This ongoing fusion will likely lead to the emergence of new culinary trends, innovative dishes, and novel approaches to food preparation and consumption. The rise of social media and online food platforms will further accelerate this process, facilitating the rapid dissemination of culinary ideas and trends across geographical boundaries. In conclusion, the fusion of Eastern and Western food cultures stands as a testament to the dynamic interplay of globalization and culinary tradition. This phenomenon offers a unique lens through which to examine the evolving relationship between food and culture, highlighting the transformative power of culinary exchange in shaping our understanding of the world. As culinary boundaries continue to blur, we can expect an even more diverse and flavorful gastronomic future, enriched by the ongoing cross-pollination of culinary traditions from around the globe.。

饮食中的阴阳平衡英语作文

饮食中的阴阳平衡英语作文

饮食中的阴阳平衡英语作文In Chinese culture, the concept of Yin and Yang is deeply rooted in all aspects of life, including diet. It is believed that a balance between Yin and Yang in our food intake is essential for maintaining good health and well-being.In traditional Chinese medicine, foods are classified as either Yin or Yang based on their energetic properties. Yin foods are cooling and nourishing, while Yang foods are warming and invigorating. It is important to consume a variety of both types of foods to maintain a harmonious balance in the body.Yin foods include fruits, vegetables, and seafood, which help to cool the body and nourish the organs. On the other hand, Yang foods such as meats, spices, and nuts provide warmth and energy to the body. By incorporating a mix of Yin and Yang foods in our diet, we can ensure that our body is in a state of equilibrium. When we consume too many Yin or Yang foods, it can lead to an imbalance in the body, resulting in symptoms such as fatigue, digestive issues, and mood swings. It is important to pay attention to the types of foods we eat and strivefor a balance between Yin and Yang to maintain optimal health. In addition to food choices, other lifestyle factors such as exercise, sleep, and stress management also play a role in maintaining Yin and Yang balance in the body. By adopting a holistic approach to health and wellness, we can achieve a harmonious balance between Yin and Yang in all aspects of our lives.。

科学与食物英文作文

科学与食物英文作文

科学与食物英文作文英文:Science and food are two topics that are closely related. Science has played a major role in the development of food production and processing, as well as in the understanding of the nutritional value of different foods. One way that science has impacted food production is through the use of genetic modification. By altering the DNA of crops, scientists have been able to create cropsthat are more resistant to pests and diseases, as well as crops that are more nutritious. For example, scientists have developed a genetically modified rice that contains higher levels of vitamin A, which is important for eye health.Another way that science has impacted food production is through the use of pesticides and fertilizers. While these chemicals can increase crop yields, they can alsohave negative effects on the environment and human health. Therefore, it is important for scientists to continue researching and developing safer and more sustainable methods of food production. In terms of understanding the nutritional value of different foods, science has helped us to identify the importance of certain nutrients in our diets. For example, we now know that vitamin C is important for immune function, and that calcium is important for bone health. This knowledge has led to the development of dietary guidelines that help people make informed choices about their diets.Overall, science has had a significant impact on the production and understanding of food. As we continue toface challenges such as climate change and population growth, it will be important for scientists to continue researching and developing innovative solutions to ensure that we have a sustainable and nutritious food supply.中文:科学和食物是两个密切相关的话题。
