《肖申克的救赎》中的救赎主题浅析-->《肖申克的救赎》中的救赎主题浅析-An Analysis of the Theme ofRedemption in The ShaptionⅠ.

The film The Shaption the same name novel of Stephen King has left adeep impression on the people. From the title of the film, it is not difficult to see that the film is talking about the issue of redemption. Then ption? The Lord Jesus in The Gospel has provided a road to redemption for us. The so-called “save”is revealing the distress of human beings; so-called “redemption”is that the ost concerned about is bodied in The Shaption.

The story begins ized by circumstantial evidence, resulting in a conviction for the murder of his ind free from the drab . His ability to do this results in the gaining of respect from his felloates. Andy’s demeanor and undeniable sense of hope cause Red to take a deeper look at himself, and the . Andy proves to Red and the other inmates that in the conventional e in his lifestyle. Andy keeps hope all the time. He spends t the prison, but also saves a group of inmates. The film inspires us to love life and edifies us to think about the importance of living and not to lose ourselves. It also gives a positive force and the courage to face difficulties to us. It makes us to realize that ordinary life is valuable. In prison, Andy overes all the difficulties azing determination during his progress. ed to the surrounding environment, from schools to the ent, from social practice to family life. They have goals, but as the years go by the goals gradually faded, as they had been institutionalized. The Shaption helps re-examine life and find the dreams again. Andy retrieves his freedom at last. Time and perseverance can help achieve everything. People should treat s!Ⅱ. Th-->e Origin and Connotation of Redemption 救赎的起源与内涵aigelaen, 2003: 3)Christianity is a anifestation of values, ethics and cultural values. It influences profoundly all aspects of American life. Therefore, the secular meaning of this Christian doctrine has also been developed: only keeping faith, people can get hope, save themselves and the that moment, the nenly announced: “I believe in te.”There is no doubt that it is a and implied the prison guard, and then the prison guard ething inappropriately, he might be the next one to be beaten. The ne the free iliation from the old prisoners. But Andy did not e in the e to madness the first night. That innocent fat boy was badly beaten up by the prison guard and died, because he could not wit-->hstand others’provocation and cried. All of those happened on the first day. It shoselves at all. Hoething for himself. He starts to make a plan to escape from the prison. This is the origin of redemption.2.2 The Connotation“Since the 20th century, along ent of industrialized societies, people are doubt about the and the nature of human, e loss of faith. In this dark an beings have to struggle to survive; ust make every effort to find a about redemption provides the ansption? It is the dignity and belief. And redeem for and hope. Redemption is a breaking imprisonment, hope prevailing over despair; a an dignity.Andy is succeeded. During this process, the Christian doctrine redemption plays a very important role. It is because of this, Andy has al, has never given up the pursuit of freedom, , the azure blue sky and blue sea, symbolize the ideal freedom; and that small boat and tile is a symbol of hope for a better future. This end has been able to impress people; it is because of freedom and hope that it , Andy gives a very good ment on hope “Do not forget that there are places in the ade out of stone. There is something inside that they can not get to that they can not touch. That is yours. That is hope.”Indeed, the prison , and even institutionalized things can bind spiritual freedom, but only hope that can not be given up. Life eaningless. Hope is a kind of flos in the dream. s and hope, brace the future.Ⅲ. Andy’s Self- redemption and His Redemption to Others 安迪的自我救赎和救赎他人In the prison, through his actions, Andy not only changes his option is not just an individual behavior, but a behavior of a group. It is entirely consistent ption in Christianity. The film uses a strong religious terms –“redemption”, . (Chen, 2008: 15)-->r />3.1 Andy’s Self- redemption Andy successfully escapes from the prison. to achieve self-redemption?It is the desire for freedom in his mind and the existence of hope! Hope, ptionAndy, a bank high-level ed for murdering his prisonments in Sha is forbidden in prison. Andy has to face the prison ption, because he is full of hope to life and yearning for freedom. Ho. The only thing is ust accept the fate of being punished, just like a lamb ent given by the fate; or clench fists, find out a . Devout Christian Andy chooses the latter. Because he believes the redemption, but also convinces that “I ebody. It y turn. I y istakes I made, I have paid for them and then some.”A ption. This is the first level of redemption--physical redemption, in exchange of the body’s pain, and the respect of prisoners and prison guards using his o. In this e passes. ulates time for freedom little by little. agine hoove on in the dark buried in the heart and a floed in dreams. As a result, it is aliles on his face. In Andy’s mind, he has not given up hope of freedom, and he makes every effort mer an about 600 years to tunnel under the mer. This is indeed a vast project, but Andy is succeeded. Everyone, including the warden and Red, could not believe that Andy spent 20 years tunneling the wall, and then crawling five hundred yards, which was the length of -->five football fields. He regained his freedom. Andy achieves self-redemption.3.1.2 Spiritual RedemptionThe spiritual redemption in the film is one of the most important themes. Redemption, as a kind of invisible po. He sticks in a dark in 20 years. Arrived in Shaind. If there is no hope that he can not afford to live in such a dark prison. Every night, Andy digs the mer. This ina, but also need the support of a belief--hope. aybe Andy has abandoned the ambitious plan. As a prisoner, Andy uses his as much as possible to enjoy the freedom of a citizen. The ; in return, Andy can akes him feel everything is full of hope. He believes that effort brings success. Each ent time; he climbs the dirty se is taken aething from outside, he asked Red to get a rock hammer for himself in order to regain the hobby--carve stones. Later, Andy hung actress posters on the prison beliefs; to not let the prison’s “normal”life take a, a al around here. He strolled like a man in the park from this place.”3.2 Andy’s Redemption to OthersChristianity emphasizes on “original sin consciousness”. The person ust be punished. In the Christian’s vie and Eve had eaten the forbidden fruit, the entire mankind has deeply fallen into the abyss of evil. But God did not give up human beings. On the contrary, he sent his son Jesus to e to save mankind. This is Jesus’redemption. In The Shaption, Andy issuch a Redeemer. The Sha the chaos and despair to full of friendship, hope and dreams. Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free. A strong man can save himself; a great man can save another.3.2.1 Andy’s Redemption to RedRed urder. However, he never considered his behavior carefully. In pr-->ison, he just lived an insane.”As if he had given up hope. In several paroles, the intervie a changed man. No danger to society here. God’s honest truth. Absolutely rehabilitated.”From his tone and attitude, e, even never e time in the past, he es.ilky light. The small stone touched Red’s heart. Because quartz is usually found in the streams, that people feel a glimmer of freedom. Andy’s , emory. That is y life. A place emory. Open up a little hotel right on the beach. Buy some y guests out charter fishing. In a place like that, I could use a man that knoan provides a job to another free man. Temporarily, Red forgets that he is a lifetime prisoner.Red finds that he can have hope and freedom in such dark prison. So he begins to long for a normal life, and seriously to do everything for leaving the prison. The last parole interviee see. I do not have any idea eans. To me it is just a made-up I sorry for here or because you think I should.I look back on the itted that terrible crime. I . I e sense to him. Tell him the an is all that has left. I got to live .3.2.2 Andy’s Redemption to TommyAnother prisoner my. Tom-->my has a rebellious youth’s personality. He alself and the society. He has been in prison many times, but he never seriously considers his future, or tries to change the situation. Maybe he tried, but failed; so, since then, he has been depressed doportant thing. So my came to Sha. Andy taught Tommy to read and to my: “If body the best character of Andy. That is perseverance. Even if Tommy , and prepared to give up ately helped him pass the examination. A hippie of the Beat Generation is civilized to a gentleman. arveling at the poption. One day, Tommy accidentally told the truth about Andy’s ony of Tommy. But the onths. During the confinement, Tommy akes Andy to understand that it is impossible to gain freedom through normal channels.3.2.3 Andy’s Redemption to Other PrisonersThe roof of the license-plate factory needed resurfacing. It ned fine mouth to be e other prisoners ong the names called. Andy ic and legal knoan ore a man if he could have a bottle of suds. On the second-to-last day of the job, the convict creorning drinking icy-cold beer, courtesy of the hardestscreen. They could have been tarring the roof of one of their oal again if only for a short ade deals aindered books by the pound. After several years’effort, Andy transformed a storage room smelling of turpenti-->ne into the best prison library in Nee to radio room, locked the door from the inside, put the disc into the record player, and then opened all the microphones, so that the entire prison people could hear the music. The sonorous and beautiful voice echoed over the prison; the sun shined on everyone’s face; the prisoners listened quietly. Music e things are best left unsaid. I like to think it ething so beautiful it can not be expressed in akes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a gray place dares to dream. It ade those oments, every last man at Shaoment, everyone in Sha and redemption.Ⅳ. The Destroy of Prison Institutionalization to Self-redemption All the enthusiasm and hope have been repressed to numb in prison. In the end, everyone is accustomed to and even dependents on this . Then you get used to them. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That is ‘institutionalized’.”“In the film, Shabol of darkness, evil, decadence and death. It confines the prisoners’hope and freedom. The ent. Confinement destroys people’s thinking.”(Dong Congbin, 2008: 19)4.1 The Destroy on BrooksBrooks, the prison librarian, had been in prison for 50 years. any people are in the process of experiencing. Then, hoany can overe it? Most will eventually step fo-->lloly hold on the belief as Andy can overe it, and finally be redeemed.4.2 The Destroy on RedFreedom is a kind of contraband in Sha is an impossible mirage. Not only freedom is to be prohibited, but the idea of freedom is taken a and good vision, but a feind, hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane. Red said he played a mean harmonica as a younger man, but lost interest in prison. Andy gave a harmonica to Red as a little parlor rejection present. Harmonica is a symbol of hope. But there is one detail: in the dormitory, Red held a harmonica in hand, but did not dare to bloprisons the soul and the spirit of the prisoners. Therefore, only escaping from this horrible “hell”, can the prisoners obtain the physical and spiritual redemption.Knoan’s been in here 50 years. This is all he knoportant man, is an educated man. Outside, he’s nothing. Just a used-up con . Then you getused to them. Enough time passes, you get so you depend on them. That is ‘institutionalized’. They send you here for life that’s exactly e.They are used to live in it.Finally, Red’s parole is approved. He ission to piss, so he can notsqueeze a drop e he has a psychological understand and agrees . On the ent and hope as a truly free man. At this moment, Shaan, and also the onefor himself at the beginning. He is never depressed and never desp-->airing. He is not ercy of fate. From the very beginning, his goal is very clear: to escape from this place, to . He treats fate actively, . In any case, he e on others, he atter e birds are not meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And up does rejoice.”In such a dark place like prison, Andy gets a sincere friendship. In fact, except some abnormal prisoners, the people he knoore affecting friendship in prison than the outside ost beautiful floind, there is al, there is hope. In the t all hammer. Andy cra through 500 yards of smelly seagine. Finally Andy got reborn. At that time, there s, Andy bracing the freedom. Life is doomed from the start, everyone is the same. The only difference is getting busy living, or getting busy dying. Each person can only live once, but as long as he aleaningful, then, once is enough. Andy’s experience makes the best explanation. The lack of faith leads to the fear of the ate oute is that lives have been deprived of hope. Life is a long process, during ent, but also the fear in people’s hearts. Especially the latter, is the most horrible, most poies. It often destroys a person’s faith and hope, leads him into suicide. Brook story illustrates this point. Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies. Y es, “hope”redeems the “freedom”. aybe The Shaption is just a fable. In fact, it exists in the real life. In real life, everyone consciously or unconsciously plays in the role of prisoner or the person who owns the authority in Shawshank. They spend the whole life without breaking the rules. Bu-->t redemption lies on their choices. As Andy’s choice, no matter ho is, it can never deprive of people’s rights to choose redemption, because redemption is in our minds. To be redeemed or not, to be a hero or multitude, to choose God or Satan, all of these exist in our minds too. Based on the analysis of the theme of redemption in The Shaption, this thesis encourages people to try to preserve their self-respect. They must learn to appreciate life better; the more important thing is alon sense. But by the demonstration of the movie characters, it can be more persuasiveto explain the truth to people. At anytime, belief, hope and freedom should not be given up. As long as there is faith, there is hope; and ent on Movie, 2006: 5.[3] Liu Zijian. Eternal Divine edy—Interpretation on The Shaption.

暴风雨前的平静 the calm before the storm

暴风雨前的平静 the calm before the storm

暴风雨前的平静the calm before the storm表达the calm before the storm(暴风雨前的平静)指“在苦难或冲突发生前的一段平静、稳定的时期”。

这个表达中的名词calm可以用lull代替,意思不变,即the lull before the storm。

The mall is quiet at the moment, but sales start next week so this is probably just the calm before the storm.

My friend Roman is a school teacher and he always says that the week before term starts is the most productive time to be at school. He can prepare his lessons and enjoy the calm before the storm!

Having all of our relatives over for Christmas is always chaotic, so I try to be extremely organized and give myself time to relax before the guests arrive. That way, I can enjoy the lull before the storm.

The Great Gatsby (1925)Author: F. Scott FitzgeraldNo one gives better parties than Jazz Age zillionaire Jay Gatsby. No one has a bigger house or a bigger pool, or drives a longer, more opulent1 automobile. His silk shirts alone—“shirts with stripes2 and scrolls3 and plaids4 in coral and apple green and lavender5 and faint orange with letters of Indian blue” — can and do reduce women to tears. But who is he? Where does he come from, where did he make his money, and why —his calm, straight-arrow6 neighbor (and narrator) Nick wonders—does he stand on his dock at night and stretch out his arms to a green light shining across the bay from his magnificent mansion7? The Great Gatsby lays bare the empty, tragic heart of the self-made man. It’s not only a page-turner and a heartbreaker, it’s one of the most typ ically American novels ever written.Gone With the Wind (1936)Author: Margaret MitchellIt’s one of the best-selling books ever bound between covers, but that’s not what makes Margaret Mitchell’s magnificent novel great. T he ultimate, original historical romance, it follows high-spirited Scarlett O’Hara, roguish8 Rhett Butler and romantic, infinitely good-looking Ashley Wilkes as the world that nurtured them is swept away in the cataclysm9 of the Civil War. As typically American as Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings is English, Gone with the Wind is a colossally10 readable romance novel—love stories do not come more triangular —but it’s also the definitive telling of one of the basic American mythologies: the passing away, in blood and ashes, of the grand old South.Author: Elizabeth BowenPortia Quayne is that most dangerous commodity, an innocent child. At 16, after years of wandering around European hotels with h er parents, she’s been orphaned11. She finds herself now in the care of her prosperous older half brother and his reluctant wife. What they and their thoughtless friends will show to Portia is the disenchanted12kingdom of adulthood. But Bowen’s real geniu s was in recognizing what Portia will show to them. In the mirror of her innocent eyes, experience will catch a glimpse of its own reflection. It’s not a pretty picture. The Grapes of Wrath (1939)Author: John SteinbeckThe storms of the Great Dust Bowl13 had barely settled when Steinbeck published The Grapes of Wrath, which follows a family of poor “Okies14,”the Joads15, as they chase the mirage of a good life westward from their destroyed midwestern farm to California. The Joads find only bitterness,squalor16and oppression as migrant agricultural workers living in“Hoovervilles,”but their unconquerable strength in the face of a huge disaster makes Steinbeck’s epic17 far more than a history of unfortunate events: It’s both a record of its time and a permanent monument to human perseverance. The Lion, The Witchand the Wardrobe (1950)Author: C.S. LewisFour English children playing hide-and-seek accidentally wander through an enchanted18 wardrobe and into Narnia, a land locked in a deep magical winter by the spells of an evil witch-queen. Only the fierce, benevolent19 lion Aslan (with a little help from the children) can defeat the tyrant20 and bring summer back to Narnia and the talking animals who live there. Lewis was a Christian philosopher, and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (and the six more Narnia novels that followed) can be read as Christian morality tales, but they’re not just kids?stuff: Lewis had a surprisingl y sharp eye for the dark shades of the human soul, sin and anger and temptation, and readers of any faith, or none at all, will feel the enormous power of Lewis’s irresistible, transporting sense of wonder.Author: J.D. SalingerNo matter how many high school English teachers try to bring The Catcher in the Rye to the level of ordinary people in class, it will never lose its satirical edge. When Holden Caulfield learns he’s going to be kicked out of yet another private school, he leaves school in the middle of the night and heads to New York City to wander around for a few days—hitting on girls, thinking about his dead brother, worrying about where the ducks go in the wintertime — before he deals with his parents. The time passes in an agony22of the absence of pleasure: It’s a permanent reminder of the sweetness of childhood, the falseness of the adult world, and the strange no-man’s-land that lies in between.Invisible Man (1952)Author: Ralph EllisonA nameless young black man wends a winding path from a southern town—where a local white men’s club mockingly awards him a scholarship to a black college—to the streets of New York City, where everybody, black and white, left and right, man and woman, seems to have their own ideas about who he is and what purpose he can serve. Fairly exposing the hypocrisies and stereotypes of all comers, Invisible Man is far more than a race novel. It’s the quintessential Americ an picaresque of the 20th century. The Lord of the Rings (1954)Author: J.R.R. TolkienWhen a tweedy, Catholic, pipe-smoking Oxford professor named John Ronald Reuel Tolkien sat down to write a novel, who could have anticipated that his volcanic imagination would give rise to an entire continent, populated by elves23, dwarves, orcs24, wizards and ambulatory25 trees? Tolkien drew on his deep knowledge of ancient languages and mythology, and his painful memories of the Somme, to create a 20th-century fable of magic and heroism, misty mountains and mystical forests, goodness and temptation, wherein Frodo, goes to destroy the One Ring, an evil artifact26 that could be the downfall of all of Middle Earth. The founding text of modern fantasy literature, The Lord of the Rings also carries with it a profound, bittersweet longing for the innocent pre-industrial England that was lost forever in the muddy trenches27 of World War I.Catch-22 (1961)Author: Joseph HellerCaptain John Yossarian is a bomber pilot who’s just trying to make it through WWII alive. But the only excuse the Army will accept for refusing to fly a mission is insanity28, and if Yossarian refuses to fly he is, by definition, sane. This is the self-devouring logical worm that lies at the heart of Catch-22, the story of Yossarian, his colleagues—who respond to the horrors of war with a range of both serious and comic neuroses and psychoses—and his superiors, who respond to the horrors of war by sending Yossarian on ever more pointless and dangerous missions for the purpose of enhancing their own reputations. Catch-22 is a bitter, distressed29 joke of a novel that embraces the existential absurdity of war without ever quite giving in to it.Watchmen (1986)Author: Alan Moore & Dave GibbonsWatchmen is a graphic novel—a book-length comic book with ambitions above its station —starring a ragbag of bizarre, damaged, retired superheroes: the paunchy30 Nite Owl; the raving doomsayer Rorschach; the blue, glowing, near-all-powerful, no-longer-human Doctor Manhattan. Though their heyday is past, these former crime-fighters are drawn back into action by the murder of a former teammate, The Comedian, which turns out to be the leading edge of a much wider, more disturbing conspiracy.《了不起的盖茨比》(1925)作者:弗·斯考特·菲茨杰拉德没有人举办的晚会可以比爵士乐时代的亿万富翁杰伊·盖茨比的更奢华,也没有人拥有比他更大气的庄园,更宽大的游泳池,或一辆更长、更豪华的轿车。

1My Favorite Movie - The Miracle WorkerDo you like movies? I love them! Especially ones with cool stories about kids. My all-time favorite movie is called "The Miracle Worker." It's an old black and white movie from 1962, but it's still the best movie ever in my opinion! Let me tell you all about it.The Miracle Worker is based on a true story about a little girl named Helen Keller who couldn't see, hear, or speak. Can you imagine not being able to see the bright sun, hear birds chirping, or talk to your family? That must have been really hard for her. Helen was very smart but she acted wildly because she couldn't communicate with anyone around her. When Helen was about 7 years old, her parents hired a teacher named Annie Sullivan to come live with them and try to teach Helen how to communicate. Annie was just a young woman around 20 years old, but she was determined to help Helen. She had a really tough job ahead of her!Annie moved into the Keller's house and immediately started working with Helen, using hand signs and fingerspelling into her palm to spell out words. But Helen didn't understand at first. She would kick and scream and have tantrums whenever Annie tried to teach her. Annie never gave up though. She stayed firm but patient. There's one super famous scene that's my favorite part of the whole movie. Annie and Helen are eating breakfast together when Annie tries signing the word "w-a-t-e-r" into Helen's hand as she lets water run over it. Suddenly, Helen makes the connection that the signing is a word representing the cool liquid! Her face lights up in amazement as she finally grasps the concept that everything has a word to describe it. It's such an exciting moment! From then on, Annie keeps teaching Helen more and more words by signing into her hand. Over time, Helen goes from a wild, disconnected child into a brilliant young lady who can communicate through signing. Watching her journey of finally understanding people and the world around her is incredible. By the end, Helen can read, write, and even learn to speak!I admire Annie's perseverance and dedication to teaching Helen so much. She worked tirelessly day and night, never givingup even when it seemed impossible. And I'm in awe of Helen's courage, intelligence, and eagerness to learn despite her disabilities. They both inspired me.The acting in The Miracle Worker is fantastic too. The girl who plays Helen does an amazing job conveying the frustrations of not being able to express herself. And the actress who plays Annie is equally convincing with her mix of strictness and compassion as a teacher. Even though it's an older film, the performances still feel so real and moving.I've probably watched The Miracle Worker like ten times already! Every time I see it, I'm reminded of how fortunate I am to be able to see, hear, and speak - gifts that Helen had to work incredibly hard to gain. Her true story motivates me to never take things for granted and always keep trying my best, no matter how difficult something is.If you haven't seen The Miracle Worker yet, I cannot recommend it enough! The plot is engaging, the acting is superb, and the overall message is beautiful and inspiring. It explores really important themes like perseverance, communication, and the resilience of the human spirit. Plus, it's based on the remarkable real-life experiences of Helen Keller, who went on to become an amazing woman. So those are all the reasons why The Miracle Worker is my absolute favorite film. I could seriously watch it over and over again! It never fails to captivate me from beginning to end. After seeing it, you'll want to hug your loved ones a little tighter and be grateful for all the ways you can perceive and interact with the world. What's not to love about that?篇2My Favorite Movie: The Miracle WorkerThe Miracle Worker is the bestest movie ever! It's about a girl named Helen Keller who couldn't see or hear anything. Can you imagine not being able to see colors and pretty things? Or not hearing birds singing and people's voices? That must have been really hard for her.Helen lived a long time ago in the 1800s. Back then, there weren't a lot of schools or teachers for kids who were deaf and blind like Helen. A lot of people didn't understand how to help them learn. Helen's parents loved her very much but didn't know what to do. She would get really mad and throw tantrums all the time because she couldn't communicate. It made her family sad to see her so upset and frustrated. Then one day, a teacher named Annie Sullivan came to stay with Helen's family. Annie had a really tough life when she was a kid too. She went blind for a while from an eye disease. But she never gave up and worked super hard until she could see again. Annie learned how to read and write and became a teacher. When Annie first met Helen, she was a spoiled brat who didn't listen to anyone. Annie could tell Helen was really smart deep down, but she didn't know any words or manners. Helen would hit people, knock food off the table, and make a huge mess. Her parents tried to discipline her but it didn't work. Annie knew she had to teach Helen the right way, no matter how hard it was.Annie moved into the Keller's house to be Helen's teacher. From morning until night, she worked on teaching Helen words using hand signs and fingerspelling. Helen wouldn't cooperate at first. She thought Annie's lessons were no fun and would try to run away. But Annie never ever gave up. She was tougher than a barrel of rocks! The biggest fight happened when they were eating dinner. Helen was being a brat again, grabbing food off people's plates and throwing it everywhere. Man, she made such a pigsty! Annie had finally had enough. She dragged Helen to the water pumpoutside and started spelling W-A-T-E-R into her hand while pumping the water. Annie forced Helen's hand under the water over and over until Helen finally made the connection - those motions meant "water"!It was like a huge lightbulb went on in Helen's brain. She realized that everything had a word and a sign. Annie could name the world for her! Helen got so excited and started feeling Annie's mouth and hands as she spelled more words like M-I-L-K and C-A-K-E. Learning was like magic! From then on, Helen studied like crazy. Annie taught her how to read, write, do math, and speak out loud. Helen's parents were amazed watching their "miracle worker" teacher open up their daughter's mind. Helen learned so fast that she was even able to go to school with other kids her age after a few years. When Helen grew up, she became a famous writer, speaker, and helper for other deaf and blind people. She traveled all around America and met every U.S. President from Grover Cleveland to Lyndon B. Johnson. Worldwide, she inspired millions by showing that disabled people could achieve anything through determination. None of that would have been possible without the dedication of her brilliant teacher Annie Sullivan.I love the story of The Miracle Worker because it has so much heart and inspiration. Annie and Helen never quit on each other, no matter how difficult life became. Their bond is unbreakable friendship goals! The acting is wonderful too, especially by Patty Duke who plays Helen with so much raw emotion and energy. And the black and white cinematography looks beautiful, like watching a moving painting. Most importantly, this true story motivates me to work harder and appreciate the gifts of sight and sound. I'm lucky that learning comes easier for me than it did for Helen. But her courage reminds me to have patience, be determined, and never give up on myself or my dreams. If Helen could overcome being deaf and blind, then I can overcome whatever obstacles come my way too. She's living proof that human potential is limitless as long as you have supportive people in your life like Annie Sullivan. Heroes get remembered, but legends like the Miracle Worker never die!篇3My Favorite Movie: The Miracle MakerHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm going to tell you all about my favorite movie ever - The Miracle Maker! It's ananimated Bible story movie about Jesus and it's just super awesome. I've watched it like a bajillion times and I never get tired of it.The movie starts out with Jesus when he was just a kid. He lives in Nazareth with his mom Mary, his dad Joseph who is a woodworker, and all his brothers and sisters. Even as a little boy, you can tell Jesus is really special. He's always kind to everyone, even the mean kids who tease him. And he has these amazing abilities that hint at the miracles he'll do when he grows up.My favorite part when Jesus is little is when he resurrects his friend Reuben's dog Samson after it dies. Reuben is so sad but Jesus just touches Samson and POOF! The puppy comes right back to life, wagging his tail! It's a really touching scene that always makes me smile. Jesus was born to work wonders.Fast forward and now Jesus is all grown up. He goes out into the wilderness to figure out his path in life. This part is super cool because you see Jesus having to resist the temptations of the Devil, who tries to trick him in these intense scenes. But Jesus is wise and faith-filled and he passes every test. I'm always cheering for him! After that, Jesus starts his ministry of teaching people about God's love and performing incredible miracles to prove he's thereal deal. We see him cure sick people, give sight to the blind, and even bring a dead child back to life! The animations during the miracles are breathtaking. My absolute favorite miracle is when Jesus calms the raging storm on the Sea of Galilee. All the apostles are freaking out because the winds and waves are going crazy and threatening to capsize their boat. But Jesus just stands up, raises his arms, and BOOM - the storm totally chills out and the sea goes flat as glass! The looks on the apostles' faces are priceless. I get chills every time.Of course, the saddest part is when Jesus is arrested, put on trial with Pontius Pilate, and then crucified. The scenes of his suffering are hard to watch, even though everything is done tastefully since it's a kids' movie. When he's nailed to the cross, I always have to fight back tears. But then, THREE DAYS LATER, Jesus rises from the dead Take that, Satan! The miracle of the resurrection is what Christianity is all about and it's so powerful.Overall, I just love how The Miracle Maker takes all the most important Bible stories about Jesus and brings them to life with beautiful artwork and an inspiring musical score. Watching it makes me feel happy, hopeful, and proud to be a Christian. If you haven't seen this movie, you seriously have to! It's a bonafideclassic for kids and grownups alike. Two thumbs up (actually make that two THOUSAND thumbs up) for The Miracle Maker篇4My Favorite Movie: The Miracle MakerHi there! Today I want to tell you about my all-time favorite movie. It's called "The Miracle Maker" and it's an animated film that tells the story of Jesus from the Bible. I know some people might think a movie about Jesus sounds boring, but let me tell you, this one is super cool! The thing that makes this movie so amazing is the way it's animated. Instead of using regular cartoon characters, the animators used a technique called claymation. That means all the characters and scenes are made out of clay models and figurines! Can you imagine how much work that must have been? The claymakers had to sculpt every single character, animal, building, and object out of clay. Then they had to move them just a little bit at a time to make them look like they're moving in the movie. It's kind of like a zillion little stop-motion movies put together into one big film! The clay figurines are so detailed and lifelike. Jesus looks kind and peaceful, with a gentle smile. Mary his mother looks soloving and caring. The apostles like Peter and John have expressions that seem to change with every scene as they experience joy, confusion, sadness, and finally wonder at the miracles Jesus performs. Even the extras in crowds look unique - you can see emotions on their clay faces. And the settings look spectacular too. The town of Nazareth seems to come alive with its winding streets and busy markets. The sea of Galilee has crashing clay waves. The desert landscapes have clay cacti and rocky cliffs. My favorite scene might be when Jesus walks on the water during a storm - the choppy waves rise up in glazed clay shapes all around him. It seems impossible that it's all sculpted from clay and moved an inch at a time, but that's what makes it a miracle of animation! The story follows Jesus from his birth to his resurrection after being crucified. Even though it covers some sad events, the movie has a ton of fun and joyful moments too. There are miracles like Jesus turning water into wine, walking on water, feeding thousands with just a few loaves and fishes, and healing sick people. The apostles are always cracking jokes or getting themselves into silly situations that had me laughing out loud. There's this one scene where Peter tries to walk on water to Jesus but immediately starts sinking - I loved that part!My favorite character is definitely the young girl named Musha. She's not in the Bible stories, but the filmmakers created her character as a way to experience Jesus's journey from the perspective of a child. Musha is inquisitive, funny, and full of energy. At the start, she actually makes fun of Jesus because she doesn't understand who he is. But as she sees his miracles unfold, her eyes are opened and she becomes one of his followers. At the end when Jesus rises from the dead, the look of amazement and joy on Musha's clay face says it all. She represents all the children who were impacted by witnessing the miraculous life of Jesus.I've watched The Miracle Maker like a zillion times and it never gets old. The story is inspiring, the animation is groundbreaking, and the overall movie fills me with a sense of hope and happiness. Whenever I'm feeling down, I just pop in the DVD and get transported to the clay-animated world of ancient Israel and the life of Jesus. By the end, I always have a big smile on my face thanks to the miracles of this movie! If you haven't seen it, I super duper recommend checking it out. You'll be glad you did!篇5My Favorite Movie: Miracle WorkersWow, I just watched the best movie ever! It's called Miracle Workers and it's so awesome. Let me tell you all about it!Miracle Workers is about these funny people who work in the Heavenly offices. They help answer prayers from people on Earth and try to make miracles happen. The main character is a nice guy named Craig. He's an angel, but he's really bad at his job. He can never get any miracles to work right.Craig's boss is the big boss God herself! God is played by this hilarious comedian named Steve Buscemi. He's really good at playing grumpy old men, but in this movie he's grumpy old God. God is always yelling at Craig for messing up and threatening to send him to that bad place nobody wants to go.Craig's best friend is another angel named Eliza. Eliza is played by Geraldine Viswanathan, and she's so cool and pretty. She tries to help Craig not get fired by God all the time. Their friendship is really nice, almost like they're married but not for real. The funniest part of the whole movie is God's team of angel employees. There's a silly guy named Sanjay who gets made fun of a lot. And a tough angel lady named Rosie who's always threatening to punch people. They get in all kinds of ridiculoussituations when prayers get messed up. It's so hilarious seeing angels act like regular people at a lousy office job.In the first season, God decides she's had enough of humans acting so bad on Earth. So she's going to press a button and blow up the whole planet! Craig and Eliza have to figure out a way to stop her by making some huge miracles work. They only have a few weeks before God ends the world. There are so many funny parts as they try miracle after miracle. Like when they shrink themselves down tiny and get stuck inside a man's body. Or when Craig's soul gets switched into a dog's body. Or when God accidentally turns a whole town into chaos by making everyone's thoughts come out of their mouths. It's just non-stop laughs the whole time! What I really love about Miracle Workers is how it takes these big spiritual ideas like Heaven, miracles, and the end of the world, and makes them so silly and fun. The angels curse a lot and make rude jokes, which is really funny since you never see that in other movies about religion. It's an awesome fresh take on Angels and God.At the end of season 1, Craig and Eliza finally figure out a way to make God happy so she doesn't destroy Earth. Phew, thatwas a close one! Just when you think the story is over, it does something crazy for season 2.Season 2 takes place in the Middle Ages instead of Heaven! All the same actors come back but as totally new characters. Now Steve Buscemi plays an angry Spanish prince, and the angels Craig and Eliza are his goofy servants. It's so wild seeing the actors you know in brand new roles. This time around, the prince goes on a quest to find true happiness. His servants Craig and Eliza have to help him by using miracles and causing all kinds of mayhem. There's one really funny episode where they put on a big play making fun of the prince. I won't spoil how it ends, but it's another awesome season with so many surprises!I hope there's a season 3 of Miracle Workers soon because I need more! This show is just so clever and original. The writers take big important topics and spin them into hilariously irreverent comedy. While still having a kind heart underneath it all about finding meaning in life.I really look up to Craig as the hero too. Sure, he's a huge screw-up angel who can never get miracles right. But he never gives up on helping people. He's always trying his best no matterwhat God or anyone else says. I want to have that kind of determination when things get tough.Miracle Workers is my new favorite show of all time! It has nonstop jokes, creative stories, and awesome performances from the whole cast. If you like crazy, one-of-a-kind comedies, then you have to watch Miracle Workers. It's an absolute miracle of a show that will have you laughing till the very end!篇6My Favorite Movie: The Miracle WorkerHi friends! Today I want to tell you about my absolute favorite movie of all time - "The Miracle Worker"! It's an older movie that came out in 1962, but it's simply amazing. I've probably watched it a hundred times and I never get tired of it.The Miracle Worker is based on a true story about a young girl named Helen Keller who became blind, deaf, and unable to speak when she was just a baby after getting a terrible sickness called "brain fever." Poor Helen lived in darkness and silence, completely cut off from the world around her. She threw violent tantrums and her parents didn't know how to help her communicate or behave properly. When Helen was around 6 years old, her parents hired a tutor named Annie Sullivan to come live with them and try to get through to Helen. Annie herself had gone blind as a child but regained her sight after an operation. She could understand how frustrated and isolated Helen must have felt.Annie moved into the Keller home and immediately started trying all kinds of ways to teach Helen words and discipline her wild behavior. But Helen fought her every step of the way, kicking and scratching and refusing to cooperate at all. Their battle of wills made for some of the most intense scenes I've ever witnessed in a movie! In one iconic scene, Annie is desperately trying to teach Helen the word "w-a-t-e-r" by pumping water over her hands at the pump outside while forcefully spelling the letters into Helen's palm. Helen is screaming and thrashing around violently, unable to make the connection that those letters represent the liquid flowing over her hands. For weeks, they repeated these lessons over and over again, with Helen resisting and lashing out the entire time. It was like Annie was trying to break through the walls of a fortress to reach the bright, curious mind trapped inside Helen's body. I was onthe edge of my seat wondering if Annie would ever get through to her student. Then finally, after relentlessly hammering away (both literally and figuratively!), the big breakthrough happened. In another famous scene set at the breakfast table, Annie is once again signing the word "w-a-t-e-r" into Helen's hand as the condensation from Helen's pitcher drips onto her fingers. All of a sudden, the lightbulb goes on in Helen's mind and she makes the connection between the word and the liquid! Her face lights up with dawning comprehension as she excitedly realizes that EVERYTHING has a word and a meaning behind it. From that profound moment on, Helen is unstoppable, eagerly soaking up words and language like a thirsty sponge. The second half of the film shows Annie patiently teaching the newly-enlightened Helen how to speak, read, write, and behave properly over many years of study. I loved seeing the deep friendship and trust that developed between the dedicated teacher and her brilliant pupil through all their hard work together.By the end, the once-feral Helen Keller has blossomed into a polite, intelligent, well-spoken young woman. In the final scene, we see the grown-up Helen graduating from college as the newvaledictorian, able to deliver her speech and accept her diploma with Annie proudly looking on. I had tears in my eyes seeing the "miracle" that Annie's perseverance had worked in Helen's life. There are so many inspiring messages wrapped up in this unforgettable true story. It shows that disability is not inability, and that a determined human spirit can overcome any obstacles through sheer force of will. It celebrates the life-changing impact that one compassionate teacher can have on a student's life. And it proves that the human mind has an amazing capacity to learn and grow when given the right guidance and opportunity. The acting performances from Patty Duke as Helen Keller and Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan are simply out of this world amazing. Even as a little kid, I could feel the vast range of emotions they powerfully conveyed - from rage and anguish to courage and sheer joy. Their commitment to realisticly portraying Helen's disabilities and the physicality of their clashes was incredibly convincing.Everything about this movie is top-notch, from the beautiful set designs of the Keller family home to the rousing musical score that swells at all the pivotal, goosebump-inducing moments. The quick pacing and high dramatic stakes keep youglued to the screen from start to finish. I've never once been bored while watching it.To me, The Miracle Worker is a masterpiece of inspirational storytelling and a must-see cinema classic. I hope I've convinced you to check it out for yourselves! This film always fires me up to study hard, never give up on learning new things, and treasure the gift of education that so many people sadly lack access to around the world.I'll leave you with one of my very favorite quotes from the movie's bible-inspired opening lines:"And a child shall lead them. Out of the depths of ignorance, through the harrowing wilderness of rebellion, to the wide fertile fields of knowledge and freedom."Watching little Helen Keller's miraculous journey out of her "depths of ignorance" never fails to motivate me to be a lifelong student just like her. Thanks for reading, friends!。

因此,在英语中产生了an apple of discord这个成语,常用来比喻any subject of disagreement and contention; the root of the trouble; dispute等意义这个成语最初为公元2世纪时的古罗马历史学家马克·朱里·尤斯丁(Marcus Juninus Justinus)所使用,后来广泛的流传到欧洲许多语言中去,成为了一个国际性成语。

3、the mass《the mass》主打曲目The Mass[弥撒曲]是十七世纪欧洲教会音乐,起源于德国,节奏强劲紧凑,用声音营造出了一种人所不能触及的壮大与压力,中间不失去优美圣洁的曲调搭配,但是后来似乎被纳粹选作精神洗礼的一种工具,不过从音乐角度来说,这样旋律实在不应该被战争的结果左右。

By Kate ChopinThe leaves were so still that even Bibi thought it was going to rain. Bobinôt, who was accustomed to converse on terms of perfect equality with his little son, called the child’s attention to certain somber clouds that were rolling with sinister intention from the west, accompanied by a sullen, threatening roar. They were at Friedheimer’s store and decided to remain there till the storm had passed. They sat within the door on two empty kegs. Bibi was four years old and looked very wise.

[keg n. (盛啤酒的)圆木桶]“Mama’ll be ‘fraid, yes,” he suggested with blinking eyes.Out on the small front gallery she had hung Bobinôt’s Sunday clothes to air and she hastened out to gather them before the rain fell. As she stepped outside, Alcée Laballière rode in at the gate. She had not seen him very often since her marriage, and never alone. She stood there with Bobinôt’s coat in he r hands, and the big rain drops began to fall. Alcée rode his horse under the shelter of a side projection where the chickens had huddled and there were plows and a harrow piled up in the corner.

1872FAIRY TALES OF HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSENTHE STORM SHAKES THE SHIELD by Hans ChristianAndersenIN the old days, when grandpapa was quite a little boy, and ran about in little red breeches and a red coal and a feather in his cap- for that's the costume the little boys wore in his time when they were dressed in their best- many things were very different from what they are now. There was often a good deal of show in the streets- show that we don*t see nowadays, because it has been abolished as too old-fashioned. Still. it is very interesting to hear grandfather tell about i(・It must really have been a gorgeous sight to behold, in thosedays, when the shoemaker brought over the shield, when the court-house was changed. The silken flag waved to and fro. on the shield itself a double eagle was displayed, and a big boot; the youngest lads carried the "welcome;' and the chest of the workmens guild・ and their shirt-sleeves were adorned with red and white ribbons: the elder ones carried drawn swords, each with a lemon stuck on its point. There was a full band of music, and the most splendid of all the instalments was the "bird,” as grandfather called the big stick with the crescent on the top. and all manner of dingle-dangles hanging to it- a perfect Turkish clatter of music・ Tlie stick was lifted high in the air, and swung up and down till it jingled again, and quite dazzled one's eyes when the sunshone on all its glory of gold, and silver, and brass・In front of the procession ran the Harlequin, dressed in clothes made of all kinds of colored patches artfully sewn together, with a black face, and bells on his head like a sledge horse. He beat the people with his bat, which made a great clattering without hurting them, and the people would crowd together and fall back, only to advance again the next moment. Little boys and girls fell over their own toes into the gutter, old women dispensed digs with their elbows, and looked sour, and took snuff・ One laughed, another chatted; the people thronged the windows and door-steps, and even all the roofs. The sun shone; and although they had a little rain too, that was good for the farmer; and when they got wetted thoroughly, they only thought what a blessing it was for the country. And what stories grandpapa could tell! As a little boy he had seen all these fine doings in their greatest pomp. The oldest of the policemen used to make a speech from the platform on which the shield was hung up. and the speech was in verse, as if it had been made by a poet, as, indeed it had; for three people had concocted it together, and they had first dmnk a good bowl of punch, so that the speech might turn out well. And the people gave a cheer for the speech, but they shouted much louder for the Harlequin, when he appeared in front of the platform, and made a grimace at them. The fools played the fool most admirably, and drank mead out of spirit-glasses, which they then flung among the crowd・ by whom they were caught up. Grandfather was the possessor of one of these glasses, which had been given him by a working mason. who had managed to catch it. Such a scene was really very pleasant; and theshield on the new court-house was hung with flowers and green wreaths・H One never forgets a feast like that, however old one may grow;1 said grandfather. Nor did he forget it, though he saw many other grand spectacles in his time, and could tell about them too; but it was most pleasant of all to hear him tell about the shield that was brought in the town from the old to the new court-house・Once・ when he was a little boy, grandpapa had gone with his parents to see this festivity. He had never yet been in the metropolis of the country; There were so many people in the streets, that he thought that the shield was being carried・ There were many shields to be seen; a hundred rooms might have been filled with pictures, if they had been hung up inside and outside・ At the tailors were pictures of all kinds of clothing, to show that he could stitch up people from the coarsest to the finest; at the tobacco manufacturers were pictures of the most charming little boys, smoking cigars, just as they do in reality; there were signs with painted butter, and herring, clerical collars・ and coffins. and inscriptions and announcements into the bargain. A person could walk up and down for a whole day through the streets, and tire himself out with looking at the pictures; and then he would know all about what people lived in the houses, for they had hung out their shields or signs; and, as grandfather said, it was a very instinctive thing, in a great town, to know at once who the inhabitants were. And this is what happened with these shields, when grandpapa came to the town. He told it me himself, and he hadn't H a rogue on his back/* as mother used to tell me he had when he wanted to make me believe something outrageous, for now he lookedquite trustworthy. The first night after he came to the town had been signalized by the most terrible gale ever recorded in the newspapers・ a gale such as none of the inhabitants had ever before experienced. The air was dark with flying tiles; old wood-work crashed and fell; and a wheelbarrow ran up the streets all alone, only to get out of the way. There was a groaning in the air, and a howling and a shrieking, and altogether it was a terrible storm. The water in the canal rose over the banks. for it did not know where to run. The storm swept over the town, carrying plenty of chimneys with it, and more than one proud weathercock on a church tower had to bow, and has never got over it from that time. There was a kind of sentry-house, where dwelt the venerable old superintendent of the fire brigade・ who always arrived with the last engine. The storm would not leave this little sentry-house alone, but must needs tear it from its fastenings, and roll it down the street; and, wonderfully enough, it stopped opposite to the door of the dirty journeyman plasterer, who had saved three lives at the last fire, but the sentry-house thought nothing of that. The barber's shield, the great brazen dish, was carried away, and hurled straight into the embrasure of the councillor of justice; and the whole neighborhood said this looked almost like malice, inasmuch as they, and nearly all the friends of the councillor's wife, used to call that lady H thc Razor1* for she was so sharp that she knew more about other people's business than they knew about it themselves ・A shield with a dried salt fish painted on it flew exactly in front of the door of ahouse where dwelt a man who wrote a newspaper. That was a very poor joke perpetrated by the gale, which seemed to have forgotten that a man who writes in a paper is not the kind of person to understand any liberty taken with him; for he is a king in his own newspaper, and likewise in his own opinion. The weathercock flew to the opposite house, where he perched, looking the picture of malice- so the neighbors said. The coopcfs tub stuck itself up under the head of "ladies' costumes.HThe eating-house keeper's bill of fare, which had hung at his door in a heavy frame・ was posted by the storm over the entrance to the theatre, where nobody went. n It was a ridiculous list- horse-radish. soup, and stuffed cabbage/1 And now people came in plenty. The fox's skin, the honorable sign of the furrier, was found fastened to thebell-pull of a young man who always went to early lecture, and looked like a furled umbrella. He said he was striving after truth, and was considered by his aunt "a model and an example.”The inscription ^Institution for Superior Education1* was found near the billiard club, which place of resort was further adorned with the words, "Children brought up by hand.'* Now. this was not at all witty; but. you see, the storm had done it, and no one has any control over that.It was a terrible night, and in the morning- only think!- nearly all the shields had changed places .In some places the inscriptions were so malicious, that grandfather would not speak of them at all; but I saw that he was chuckling secretly, and there mayhave been some inaccuracy in his description, after all.The poor people in the town・ and still more the strangers, were continually making mistakes in the people they wanted to see; nor was this to be avoided, when they went according to the shields that were hung up. Thus, for instance, some who wanted to go to a very grave assembly of elderly men .where important affairs were to be discussed, found themselves in a noisy boys1 school, where all the company were leaping over the chairs and tables・There were also people who made a mistake between the church and the theatre, and that was terrible indeed!Such a storm we have never witnessed in our day; for that only happened in grandpapas time, when he was quite a little boy. Perhaps we shall never experience a storm of the kind, but our grandchildren may; and we can only hope and pray that all may stay at home while the storm is moving the shields.THE END。
