His father, John Shakespeare, was a grocer who ran wool, leather and grain business. In 1565 he took over as town chief, and three years later he was elected mayor.Shakespeare was sent to a local law school at the age of seven, where he read six years of books, mastered the basic skills of writing and a wealth of knowledge. His two more reliable portraits are said to be the bust of the church and the statue of Droghoche, the handwriting has six signatures and three copies of the script "Sir Thomas Moore".Shakespeare个人作品Early worksThe central sovereignty of Elizabeth I from 1590 to 1600 was still consolidated, and the temporary alliance between the royal family and the businessmen and the new aristocracy was still developing. 1588 years to defeat the Spanish "Armada" after the British national vigor. This makes the author full of optimism about life, I believe that humanism can be achieved. The historical dramas and comes written in this period show a clear and optimistic style.Medium works1601 ~ 1607 British rural "enclosure movement" to speed up, Wang Quan and the bourgeoisie and the new aristocracy of the temporary alliance is collapsing, deepening social contradictions, the political and economic situation deteriorated. James Yixi after the throne of the extravagant and retrograde, but also make the people suffering intensified, revolt after another. In this case, Shakespeare's deepening of the contradiction between the ideal of humanism and reality has become more and more intense, and the creative style has changed from bright and happy to gloomy and grievances. The tragedy is not to celebrate the ideal ofhumanism, but to expose Criticize all kinds of evil and darkness in society.Late works1608 ~ 1612 James I dynasty more corrupt, social contradictions more acute. Shakespeare is deeply dazzled by the ideal of humanism, and is the death of the Romanticism. Its creative style also will appear as a romantic fantasy.。

Shakespeare
Shakespeare’s TragedyShakespeare wrote tragedies from the beginning of his career. One of his earliest plays was the Roman tragedy Titus Andronicus(It’s seen as Shakespeare’s attempt to emulate the violent and bloody revenge plays of his contemporaries, which were extremely popular with audiences throughout sixteen century), which he followed a few years later with Romeo and Juliet. However, his most admired tragedies were written in a seven-year period between 1601 and 1608. These include his four major tragedies Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth. As one of the most remarkable playwrights in the world, William Shakespeare was greatly influenced by British traditional literature and culture, which partly originated from ancient Greek and Roman culture. He got inspiration from the European legends and historical stories. And the epics(史诗) ,myths of ancient Greece and Roman, the worship(崇拜,礼拜)of heroes in the tragedy and even the sublime(庄严的,使。

Brief Introduction(莎士比亚简介)Of all the famous English writers, probably the best known is William Shakespeare. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1564 on April the 23rd. His father was an important man in town so Shakespeare had a good upbringing教养. Shakespeare probably went to school (although no records survive to prove this) but not university. He got married when he was 18 to Anne Hathaway and the couple had 3 children. Shakespeare wrote 37/38 plays and 154 sonnets (a sonnet is a kind of poem). He began working in his home town of Stratford but by 1592 was writing in London. He became rich enough to buy a house in the capital and one in Stratford. He wrote sad stories called tragedies, like Romeo and Juliet, funny stories or comedies, romantic stories and stories about historical figures人物such as Julius Caesar.Shakespeare died on his birthday in 1616, almost 400 years ago. But why is his work still popular today? His work looked at common human themes, such as betrayal 背叛, murder, lust欲望, power, ambition and love. These themes are as much a part of human nature today as they were all those years ago and are the themes we see in modern soap operas and Hollywood films. Even though his theatre, The Globe, burned down in 1613 it was rebuilt in London in 1997 and you can still see his plays performed there today. Shakespeare's influence on the English language can still be felt today. We talk about "fair play", meaning honest behaviour but this phrase was first used by Shakespeare. He coined the phrase "you can have too much of a good thing". And it was Shakespeare who came up with the expression to disappear "into thin air" which we still use today when we lose something.Shakespeare's work has been translated into every major language in the world. And perhaps we'll still be as fascinated by his work 400 years from now as we've been for the last 400.Shakespeare is a great master of the English language. He used about 16,000 words. 莎士比亚的英语中的三单
莎士比亚的英语中的三单Shakespeare's English: The Usage of Third-Person SingularShakespeare's English is renowned for its richness, complexity, and beauty. His works are filled with intricate plots, vivid characters, and profound insights into the human condition. Among the many aspects that contribute to the uniqueness of Shakespeare's language, the usage of the third-person singular verb form stands out as aparticularly noteworthy feature. In English grammar, the third-person singular (3PS) verb form is used to describe actions or states of beings who are not the speaker or listener, and who are singularin number. This form typically ends in "-s" or "-es" in modern English, but in Shakespeare's time, its usage was more varied and flexible.Shakespeare's mastery of the third-person singular verb form is evident in his plays and poems. He employs it not only to convey basic information about characters and events but also to create a rhythmic and harmonious flow oflanguage. The 3PS form often appears in dialogue, narrative passages, and even in poetic meters, adding depth and complexity to the overall language structure. One of the most striking aspects of Shakespeare's use of the 3PS verb form is his ability to convey emotional nuance through subtle variations in tense and aspect. He frequently employs the present tense to create a sense of immediacy and urgency, as well as to highlight the ongoing nature of certain actions or states. On the other hand, the past tense allows him to narrate events that have already occurred, often with a sense of reflection or nostalgia.Shakespeare also demonstrates a keen understanding of aspect, which refers to how verbs express the completeness or incompleteness of actions. The progressive aspect (e.g., "is walking") suggests an action that is ongoing or continuous, while the perfect aspect (e.g., "has walked") indicates that an action has been completed. Shakespeare's skillful manipulation of these aspects adds layers of meaning and emotional depth to his characters and plots. Moreover, Shakespeare's use of the 3PS verb form is often intertwined with his manipulation of syntax and wordorder. He frequently rearranges the usual subject-verb-object order to create a more rhythmic or emphatic effect. This allows him to highlight certain words or phrases, drawing the reader's attention to specific details or emotional nuances within the text.In addition to its grammatical and syntactical functions, the 3PS verb form also contributes to theoverall style and tone of Shakespeare's works. His language is often both poetic and colloquial, reflecting the diverse social and cultural milieus of his time. The 3PS form, when used appropriately, adds a sense of formality and elegance to the language, making it more suitable for the highbrow themes and subjects that Shakespeare often tackled. It's worth noting that Shakespeare's English, including his use of the third-person singular, is not static. His language evolved over time, reflecting changes in society, culture, and the English language itself. His works, therefore, offer a unique window into the linguistic landscape of his era, allowing us to glimpse the rich and diverse heritage of English literature. In conclusion, Shakespeare's mastery of the third-person singular verb form is a crucial aspect of his linguistic genius. His skillful manipulation of tense, aspect, syntax, and word order creates a rich and complex tapestry of language that is both beautiful and meaningful. His use of the 3PS form adds depth, nuance, and emotional resonance to his characters and plots, making his works timeless and universally appealing.。

In his comedies, Shakespeare often explores themes of love, mistaken identities, and the power of laughter. These plays are filled with witty banter, humorous situations, and unexpected twists. On the other hand, his tragedies delve into darker themes such as ambition, betrayal, and the consequences of human actions. These plays are characterized by intense emotions, tragic heroes, and a sense of inevitability. Shakespeare's ability to seamlessly transition between these two genres is a testament to his genius and enduring legacy. In Shakespeare's comedies, the language is oftenplayful and light-hearted. Characters engage in witty wordplay, puns, and clever repartee. The dialogue is fast-paced, filled with double entendre and innuendos that add to the humor. The comedic situations are often absurd and exaggerated, creating a sense of comedic chaos. Thecharacters themselves are often larger than life, with exaggerated personalities and quirks that add to the comedic effect. These elements combine to create a lively and entertaining atmosphere that keeps the audience engaged and laughing throughout the play.In contrast, Shakespeare's tragedies are characterized by a more serious and somber tone. The language is poetic and filled with profound insights into the human condition. The dialogue is often introspective and reflective, as characters grapple with their own flaws and the consequences of their actions. The tragic heroes are complex and multi-dimensional, torn between their desires and their sense of duty. The tragedies explore universal themes such as the nature of power, the corruptinginfluence of ambition, and the fragility of human existence. The language and imagery in these plays are often haunting and evocative, leaving a lasting impact on the audience.Despite the differences between the two genres, Shakespeare's comedies and tragedies share some common elements. Both genres explore the complexities of humanrelationships and the transformative power of love. In both comedies and tragedies, Shakespeare delves into the depths of human emotions, portraying characters who are driven by their desires and passions. Both genres also feature memorable characters who captivate the audience with their wit, charm, and flaws. Whether it is the mischievous Puckin "A Midsummer Night's Dream" or the tormented Hamlet in "Hamlet," Shakespeare's characters leave a lasting impression on the audience. In conclusion, Shakespeare's comedies and tragedies are two distinct genres that showcase the playwright's versatility and mastery of storytelling. The comedies are characterized by their light-hearted and playful language, while the tragedies delve into deeper and more profound themes. Despite the differences, both genres explore the complexities of human relationships and the transformative power of love. Shakespeare's ability to seamlessly transition between these two genres is a testament to his genius and enduring legacy.。

ARE THE BRITS HAPPY? 英国人开心吗?The plays and poetry of William Shakespeare are arguably England’s greatest cultural treasure. Every school child studies his work, and he is considered to be the greatest Englishman to ever wield a pen. Until the 20th century though, Shakespeare was almost unknown in China. Works:
The third period (1608~1613) Shakespeare tended to the tragicomedy or legend which mostly contained the element of compromise and fantasy. The presentation of problems is less vivid, the emotional and ideological conflicts less strong. He wrote only three plays during his last period: Cymbeline (1609), The Winter's Tale (1610), and The Tempest (1611). In these works, the plots are all around the four main parts: separation, reunion, framing and rehabilitation.
Writing Style:
Themes in Shakespeare's sonnets: Express love and praise to a young man Immortalize beauty through verses Friendship or betrayal of friendship
Writing Style:
① A play in the play. ② Borrow plots from other stories such as Roman, Greek and ancient myth. ③ Several threads running through the play, making the plots with suspense and strain.
④ Combination of tragic and comic elements.
⑤ Tremendous vocabulary (16,000 words, invent words)
Writing Styalliteration, simile, metaphor) ⑦ Use poetry in his play
Writing Style:
William Shakespeare's humanistic ideas: Against cruelty and anti-natural character of civil wars Against religious persecution, racial discrimination, social inequality Hates rebellion and despises democracy
Influence:
Ben Johnson describes him as the person who was not of an age, but for all time. Shakespeare has been universally acknowledged to be the summit of English renaissance, and one of the greatest writers in the world. His work has made a lasting impression on later theater and literature. In particular, he expanded the dramatic potential of characterisation, plot, language, and genre. Meanwhile, he influenced novelists such as Thomas Hardy, William Faulkner, and Charles Dickens.
His extant works, including some collaborations, consist of about 38 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems, and a few other verses. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright.
Works:
During the twenty-two years of his literary work, his writing career can be divided into three periods. The first period (1590~1600) The works are typical of the Renaissance. His poems Venus and Adonis (1593) and Lucrece (1594) have natural tone and vivid realism which stand out in sharp relief. His sonnets are distinguished by a profound realism because of his experiences.
⑧ Soliloquies reveal the inner conflict.
⑨ Contrasts are applied to make his characters vivid and true to life. ⑩ Irony is a good way of dramatic expression.
Works:
His plays during this period fall into three groups: comedies, chronicles and tragedies. The comedies are divided into "realistic" and "romantic" . The realistic comedies are: The Comedy of Errors (1592) and The Merry Wives of Windsor (1600). The romantic comedies are Love's Labour's Lost (1595), A Midsummer Night's Dream (1596), The Merchant of Venice (1596), Much Ado About Nothing (1598), As You Like It (1599), and Twelfth Night (1599).
Influence:
In Shakespeare's day, English grammar, spelling and pronunciation were less standardized than they are now, and his use of language helped shape modern English.
William Shakespeare
Life:
• William Shakespeare • ( 1564-1616 ) • The greatest writer in the English language
Career:
William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright, and actor, widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and the world's pre-eminent dramatist.
Thanks~
Works:
The second period (1601~1607) The grave political cleavage caused a spiritual conflict in Shakespeare. This period included the tragedies such as Hamlet (1601), Othello (1604), King Lear (1605), Macbeth (1605) The comedies Troilus and Cressida (1601), All's Well That Ends Well (1602), Measure for Measure (1604). These comedies lack his love for the beautiful forms of life, and his light, playful humor. His philosophy became tragic, but not gloomy, nor pessimistic.
