I strongly disagree that it is more important for the government to spend money to build art museums and music performance center than do build recreational facilities. I think such recreational facilities as swimming pool, playground, are crucial to people as mass consumption. Therefore they are more important than art museums and music performance.Although art museums and music performance provide us one opportunity to escape the daily pressure and enter an aesthetic world of sensual pleasure, and also purify people’s spirits by striking their heart, art museums and music performance generally need certain appreciative ability to enjoy. 2009年9月11日北美托福机经阅读：只记得三篇了，一篇中国为什么会出现集权制的原因，三个原因。

加试1：美国还是欧洲（记得不是很清楚了）城镇的发展，加试2：是动物的站岗放哨的原因假设，一共有三个原因假设。

2009年9月11日北美托福机经听力：1 学生关于定制t-恤的事情，由于颜色不记得了，所以会回来重新找管理人员，其间和管理人员聊天，谈了这次定制t恤的原因，吸引别人来关注他们的专业。

2009年9月11日北美托福机经口语：1describe one way of life in your country has been changed and why it is beneficial2 做事是喜欢刚开始就准备还是到了due day才开始准备，原因3关于学校要求新生参加学习小组的通知，学校认为这样做有两个好处：<1>帮助学生掌握学习技巧<2>让学生结交新的朋友女生不同意，认为<1> 很多学生已经知道怎么样学习，这样做会浪费时间<2>学生都是在一个教室上课，迟早会认识成为朋友的，不需要通过在图书馆加入学习小组认识新的朋友4 动物都有maitain自己的方法，有的时候保持同一个size防止外部威胁,有的时候adjust size获取资源，然后听力里给了大猩猩的例子，他们晚上睡觉的时候都是100个左右在一起，规模基本很稳定，防止别的动物攻击，但是白天觅食的时候会分成小规模去不同的地方。

开头说了一种定义，然后否定。

blah ,blah（第一道就这题，问这个term 什么意思）当时大脑游离状态，不知道在说些什么。

第三篇、第三篇杀虫剂，好像是说杀虫剂不能把所有的虫子都杀死，因为虫子繁殖很快（有题），后说根别的叶存活下来的虫子交配后，下一代更难对付了，好像是这个。

有题问为什么需要更多的杀虫剂对付这些虫子是到 EXCEPT 题。

阅读加试题：电报在美国和欧洲的发展史：科技进步，1840S的电报已经有了长足进步云云，Telegraph有很重大的意义：拉进了long distance com munication。

但是遇到了一些obstacle: fund不够; 也缺少management；好像还有一个缺陷。

（然后提出了两个问题：到底是由谁来负责，投资？）电报在美国的发展史：当时Telegraph在美国发展得不如在欧洲发展得好，因为美国人还把精力放在电话telephone的研究上。

在美国，telegraph system掌控在私人企业手里（私有化的private），很多私人商务行为都用电报来联系。

这些私企有些很垄断monopoly。

在19世纪，电报被纳入政府监管under government regulation。

之后， although美国那时有科技的限制，但电报在美国发展得最好的，得到了普及。

电报在欧洲的发展史：当时很多欧洲国家担心电报会使情报外流，就在犹豫要不要立法来规范电报行为。

随着发展，欧洲国家把telegraph纳入governmental control（国家政府管理）, 主要应用在邮政系统p ostal system方面，因此欧洲国家的传统邮政postal业又恢复生机。

2009年IBT听说读写机经2009年1月10日托福机经阅读：和大家一样，看到题目之后就有回家的冲动，我之前考过两次，第一次认真考的28，第二次乱考的26，这次估计能上18就不错了。

阅读难度相当地大。

第一篇：functionism(忘了是这个词还是functional) culture第一段先举了生物学的例子，这里有题，问为什么要举生物学的例子。

大概就是典型的结构主义思想，每一个器官都是有功能的。

引出文化，文化也一样，不是无缘无故的。

然后给出了两个人的观点。

第一个人的意思是每一个文化主要取决于大众的需要，并且大众的需要分两层，第一是basic demand，衣食住行，第二层是宗教，政治还是什么的。

但是这个理论有缺陷，就是他不能解释为什么每个文化都需要解决基本需求问题，但是文化和文化之间不一样呢。

另一个人的观点是文化是用来消除亲家之间的conflict的，后面记得不是很清楚，不敢乱说了。

最后貌似说了这两个观点都不是完美的第二篇：更想抓狂了……讲古代人的畜牧史，貌似就是说古代人掌握了动物什么时候来喝水，然后就趁机下手逮动物。

其中两个概念很混乱，breeding和domestication，想死的感觉啊……记得比较清楚的是说，他们并不是每种动物都养，经过了很多代人的，才放弃了一些不好养的动物。

第三篇：终于看到点希望了……美国觉得污染会杀死鱼，于是设立了sanctum，但是在这里面可以捕鱼。

所以造成了过度捕捞，过度捕捞比起污染什么的对鱼的数量下降来说更致命。

鱼随之会变得更少，并且更小。

有的**把大鱼抓走，让小鱼存活。

外界环境也会影响鱼，温度，气候什么的。

鱼类有丰富营养，比如鳗鱼什么的，每年增长速度貌似才5%，但是每年增加的需求量就有15%。

然后说了中国养了很多鱼。

最后说了海藻，海藻繁殖快，营养高，相比之下，农产品生产过程很慢。

日本就养海藻。

这个女生从来不看short story，但是擅长写诗，发表过作品，就问对话中的男生是应该硬着头皮写short story还是应该写诗以替代哈哈~我上学期的课就有creative writing，所以我说我的很强调short sotry和poem 是有区别的，如果她写诗，教授不高兴;再者她都不能写第一篇，又怎么能听懂老师讲的课完成作业呢口语5 图书馆限制借书到10本，理由是学生一次借太多书看不过来。
