The importance of reading literature

We can see form the drawing above that there is a teacher talking with a girl in the classroom.Having observed the girl’s reaction when she receives a literary book given by her teacher unwillingly,the teacher tells her that “Just think of it as if you are reading a text-message.”The drawing reveals a phenomenon that a great number of students are largely indifferent to literature nowadays.Due to the Internet and electronic communication technology such as MSN,mobile phones and QCIQ becoming widespread,many people question the practicability of literature and are more addicted to using and reading short text-message which is more convenient compared with long content such as literature.

Does that mean literature are useless?Utterly not.Literature is like the foundation of a building.Though it may be commonplace even invisible,they are of vital importance.It’ll help us enormously broaden our horizons.What’s more,those fine stories selected by the great author can perfect human personality and one’s mental health.

With all was said above,literature is essential in our life,we should pay more attention to literature and catch more time to read literary books.
