THE SITE
Brief information on Piled Silk Hill (Folded Brocade
Hill)
Located in the north-east of downtown Guilin, Piled
Silk Hill was called Gui Hill in ancient times. Around
the hill are Duxiu Peak and Fubo Hill. Piled Silk Hill
occupies an area of two square kilometers, composing
of Mingyue Peak, Xianhe Peak, Siwang Hill and Y uyue
Hill. The graceful surrounding sceneries are easy to
climb, and have therefore become famous tourist
attractions in Guilin. There are many tourist attractions
on the hill itself, such as the Folded Brocade Pavilion, the Y uyue Pavilion, and the Chengren Tablet of Masters Qu and Zhang, the Yangzhi Hall, the Wind Cave, the Brocade Building, the Wangjiang Pavilion and the Nayun Pavilion.

Go through the gate and get to the stair of the
southern foot of the hill, you will first see the
distinctive Diecai Pavilion, occupying an area about
64 square kilometers on the hillside of Bright Moon
Peak. It is 5 meters high, 7.5 meters long and 8.5
meters wide. Although only a single storey high, it is
well designed and elaborately built with red poles,
green tiles and four unique angles.
After Diecai Pavilion, you will come to the Wind Cave, which blows wind all the seasons. This cave penetrates Bright Moon Peak, with a wide mouth protruding from either side of the slope and a narrow part in the middle. Whatever weather outside, it always blows cool breezes in the Wind Cave. Due to this reason it is known as the “Cool World”.
The cave is worth to visit not only for its winds but also for its rock carvings both inside and outside. You can enjoy a great many of wonderful things including Buddha images of the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties, as well as 210 stone carvings.
