大学英语视听说第三册口语考试答案unit 11.What factors may weaken one's memory? It is often reported that long-term poor nutrition may affect the functioning of the brain, thus damaging both the long-term and short-term memory. Also harmful to one's memory is lack of water. Elderly people need plenty of water to guarantee their memory works. A third factor is lack of sleep. Without enough sleep, one may feel tired and have difficulty concentrating, not to mention learning things by heart.2. Can you describe some possible advantages of having a poor memory?A poor memory may have some advantages. With the passage of time, the sad memories will fade. Those with a short memory tend to recover faster than those with a tenacious memory. For the same reason, forgetful people may be more ready to forget their daily worries and forgive others for their offenses. With a less retentive mind, they may enjoy life more.3. What can you do to make sure all your relatives and friends are on the guest list for your birthday party?First of all, I would check my address book and tick the names of those I intend to invite. Then, to avoid possible omissions, I would ask some of my close relatives, friends and colleagues to look at my initial list of names. They might suggest one or two additions. In this way, I can reduce the chances of missing those I should invite.4. How do you ensure important phone numbers are always at your fingertips?I usually remember my close relatives and friends' phone numbers through frequent use. But my memory cannot always be trusted. In this case, a mobile phone is extremely useful because it can store many phone numbers. But when the batteries run down, the mobile phone can't help either. So I also rely on my address book. To play safe, I prefer to have two address books. I take one with me and leave the other at home. Thus I can always find the number I need.Unit2:1.What subject do you like best? What made you like it: your personal interests, the teacher, the practical applications of the course in the future, etc.?I like physics best, though many classmates find it hard. A lotof factors led me to like this subject. As early as in high school, I was amazed at the laws scientists like Newton and Einstein discovered. What they found out changed the world. Luckily, my physics teacher at this university is excellent. He is knowledgeable and patient. Just because of him, I'm willing to spend lots of my spare time on this subject. Most importantly, what I have learned from the physics course will be of great help in landing a good job. Nowadays many companies think physics majors often have a solid academic foundation and can easily adapt themselves to a wide variety of positions.2. Do you think it is necessary? Some parents believe that by doing a lot of difficult math problems, their children will have a solid foundation in math. Some parents even believe that trying to solve hard math problems will promote the growth of children's brains and help develop their logical reasoning ability and concentration, which will facilitate learning in other areas. On the other hand, many people believe that it is unnecessary and unnatural for children to study difficult math problems. Some people even believe that strict math training harms children's moral and physical development. Fierce competition may dampen the spirit of teamwork, which is so important in the contemporary world.3. What study habits seem to be common among successful students? Many top students seem to have these good study habits: They tend to have a strong sense of time and organize their time well. They may draw up their study plan well in advance. While studying, they check whether they are working ahead of schedule or lagging behind it. They usually work in a systematic way. Before class, they preview the text to get some idea about what the teacher is going to say and which part of the text is difficult. In class, they listen attentively, take notes of the main points of the lecture, and ask questions when they don't understand. After class, they review what they have learned. By going through the text and the notes, they can remember important information.4. How to prevent students' cheating in examinations?First, the administrators must adopt severe measures to punish that disgraceful practice. In the case of serious offenders, it is not enough just to give them an F. They must repeat the whole year, or even be expelled from school. Second, it is more important for teachers to enforce the university rules strictly. When they see students cheating, they should not turn a blind eye to it.Unit3:1.What do you think are the things that contribute to a successful marriage? The success of a marriage is due to many factors, of which love is obviously the most important one. Other factors, which are not entirely unrelated to love, include shared values and interests, mutual understanding, commitment, effective communication, similar educational background, equal economic status, physical fitness, etc. With the same values and moral standards, friends may develop into lifelong partners. After marriage, there needs to be a commitment to one another, and to the well-being and development of the family. Similar educational background and intelligence levels are also considered important by some people. They believe that only with mutual appreciation and understanding, can the couple get along easily and happily.2. Why do people get divorced? Can you guess some of the reasons? Sometimes it is because the couple did not really understand each other before the marriage, as love was blind at that time. After marriage, they see each other's shortcomings more clearly. When disappointment grows beyond control, divorce becomes inevitable. Sometimes it is because one of the couple haschanged after the marriage. For example, after the husband is promoted to a leading position, he may have a hectic time all year round, with hardly any time left to be with his wife. Sometimes one of the couple has lost his or her job and becomes irritable. Due to the continual quarrelling at home, the family breaks up.3. What do you think of the lives of single mothers? Most people look upon single mothers with sympathy. Single mothers have to support their children on their own. They may find it difficult to provide their children with all the luxuries children of two-parent families enjoy. Worse still, they may be under great psychological pressure. Moreover, their children may develop a sense of inferiority. When they see other children are bathed in the love of both parents, they may feel bitterly disappointed.4. What is your view of the fact that the wife's housekeeping duties remain the same even when she works outside? What could be the solution? If the wife works during the day just like the husband, then it is obviously unfair for the wife to shoulder all the housekeeping duties. If the husband can share the householdchores with the wife, the love between them can be strengthened. Unfortunately, influenced by tradition, many men are unwilling to do housework, thinking it to be unmanly. If we want to change the situation, the media had better give more publicity to "model husbands" who assume a large part of those duties. Gradually, people may change their image of a husband who constantly sits in front of the TV, watching football games or international news. Also, the development of modern technology and the appearance of more modern conveniences will further lighten the housekeeping burden. Thus the problem of who should do the housework will become less important.Unit4:1.What do you think people will choose: a low-paid job one likes, or a boring well-paid job?I think many people prefer to find a job that they really like. After all, most people want to enjoy themselves rather than have plenty of money without a sense of achievement and happiness. On the other hand, some people may choose a well-paid job instead of a job close to their heart to earn more money. If one is in serious financial difficulty, one can hardly afford the luxury of a dream job. Money is the top priority.2. Do you think one's character is important in finding a job? Why or why not?I think it is. Although many employers lay emphasis on candidates' educational background and work experience, some believe that candidates' character is equally important for a successful career. In contemporary society, many projects are so large that they require the coordination of a group of people rather than a single person's effort. Therefore, a good team player is often welcomed. Professionally skilled people may not be able to accomplish a large project if they are easily angered and cannot get along with their colleagues. If you want to assume a leading position, you should be firm on important issues while allowing your subordinates plenty of freedom. In fact, it is becoming increasingly common for companies to test candidates' EQ (emotional quotient) before they decide to hire them.3. What courses are useful for one's job?In fact all courses may turn out to be useful in our future careers. The basic courses we take in the first two years of university lay a solid foundation for our future development. In the case of computer majors, for example, the math they have learned will enhance their ability for logical reasoning. TheEnglish courses they have followed will help them read the literature in their fields with greater ease. Art courses may increase their sense of balance and beauty. However, the courses in their specialties are often of greater relevance and value for their career development. For instance, computer majors may find courses such as programming, computer network, database, and CAD (Computer Aided Design) more closely related to their future work.4. What questions do you think are often asked in an interview? Why are they asked? To start with, the interviewers may ask you about your education. In this way they can gather information to see if you have acquired the basic knowledge required for the job you are applying for. Perhaps most of them will ask you about your work experience in this field to see if you have the necessary skills for the job you have in mind. Usually employers do not like an entirely inexperienced employee. They may also ask about your character, weaknesses and strengths to find out what kind of person you are. They may even ask you something that is not directly related to the job in question. Your answers tend to show your intelligence level and communication skills.Unit 5:1.Do you want to be a boss who is starting a company or an employee with a high salary?Different people may have different choices. Some people may put a regular job above good pay for a variety of reasons. Employees usually know what they are supposed to do and have a fairly stable life. With a high-paying job, they and their families can live a comfortable life. When they have accumulated enough money, they can start a business when conditions are favorable. On the other hand, many people want to set up a business of their own right now. Indeed, launching a company involves a lot of effort. What is worse, there is risk. But they like challenges. By trying to establish a company, not only may they make lots of money, they can also develop their abilities to overcome difficulties.2. What kind of boss would you like to work for: one who is inefficient but kind, or one who is efficient but very strict with employees? Many people, if not most, prefer to work for a kind,good-natured boss. Under such a boss, they feel secure and happy. The boss won't scold employees simply because they have made a small mistake. He will also be generous. It is true thatsometimes because of his lack of ability, his company may not reap huge profits, and employees can hardly get a raise. But happiness is surely more important than money. However, some people, including me, will choose to work for a boss who is capable but very strict with his subordinates. If the boss is capable, he will lead the company to one new height after another. When the company thrives, all employees will benefit. Even if the boss may give an employee a severe dressing-down for something he or she did, the employee can learn a lesson from the event. Under such a boss, employees can gain valuable experience, which may serve as a good foundation for them to start a business of their own in the future.3. Why do some people think sports clothes and shoes providea good business opportunity? What age groups do you think the business people should target? Why?With more leisure time and money, many people pay more attention to their health and recreation. As a result, more and more people will engage in sports, and they will buy more fitness gear, including sports clothes and shoes. Obviously this provides a hot business opportunity. In my opinion, business people should target young people first. They are active and participate more in sports than other age groups. But businesspeople should not neglect older people. After retirement, they often find their health on the decline, and therefore have the motivation for fitness exercises. As for middle-aged people, many of them are under such great pressure at work that they can hardly afford the time for sports.4. If you wanted to start a business, which factors would you consider: your education and ability, your money, or the market? Why?If I wanted to launch a business, I would consider all of these factors, for they all play an indispensable role. First of all, I would consider my ability. Since I majored in biology, I would be cautious in starting a company to sell something I am not familiar with such as building materials or DVDs. With my educational background, I may find it easier to run a company selling bio-tech products. The next thing I would have to take into account, is the money available. Suppose the establishment of a company required a capital of a million dollars, I would try to see whether I could get a loan. If not, I would give up the idea and try to set up a smaller service company that required less capital. Last but not least, I would survey the market to see if the products I planned to deal with could be sold. If they were unmarketable, I had better give up the ideaof founding a company in this area. If they sold well, then I would go ahead.。

Topic 1 Memory1A: I always forget things pretty easily recently.B: Like what?A: When I got back after work, I found I hadn't lock the door.B: This could happen to anyone. It's nothing serious.A: If so, I wouldn't worry about my poor memory. In addition to that situation above, I am comfronted with lots of problems because of my forgetful charecter, like forgetting to pay for my electric fee etc..B: Maybe you are able to change it.A:Would you like to give me some suggestions?B: Sure. You can make a list on what you are about to do in the coming period. And stick it on the place where you can see it obviously.A:That's great. But What are I supposed to do if I forget to make a list?B: Oh,you can let your husband remind you anytime.A: Thanks for your advice.B: You're welcome.A:Then, I have to come back.Goodbye!B: Bye.See you next time.2A:I have been really forgetful these days.B: Why, I mean what have caused that?A: I have no ideas. I just couldn't keep the things, which I need to do to stay in my mind.B: What exactly have you been forgotten of late?A: There seem quite a long list that I can't recall all of them.B: What was the most recent things, which you have forgot to do?A: The most conmon things were, miss-doing some homework that I need to submit urgently a few times.B: And what else?A: I forgot to bring my homewok to school many times.B: So, that's why you have been told off by our teachers several times these days then!A: Y es, I just don't know what's the matter with me and I don't know what I should do?B: Oh dear, I am so sorry to hear about these.A: I am scared, I am afraid that I may have brain problems!B: Please don't be afraid, this is probably because you were too stress.A: I am really worried, of course I am stressed!B: What I mean were your problems caused by stress, Did you worry too much about things these days?A: Y es, I thik I was worrying about my school work and grade a lot for a long time.B: That's probably the cause for all these. Y our mind were pre-occupied by your worries. So, you have forgot things easily.A: Well, what should I do to help myself then?B: First all of, you must learn to relax and take things easy. Because take things too hard would not help but only can make things worse. If you can relax and let things run their own course, sometimes it would turn out just fine for you.A: Thanks for your advice, I think I shall learn to be more relax from now on and leave things alone to see if I would get better.B: I am sure if you could do that then your problems will go away themselves and you will gradually have your good memory back.A: Thanks mate, you are a great help.B: That's nothing, we are best friends anyway, you would do the same to help me if I have problems too, wouldn't you?3A: Tell me yo ur secret. Y ou’re suddenly getting excellent marks in every subject, and you used to be a bottom-of-the-class student just like me.B: Simple enough. I read an article in a scientific journal that linked studying with remembering, based on recent research into the brain.A: A w, that stuff’s old hat: study at the same time every day, be sure your clothes are comfortable, make sure you have enough light, blah-blah-blah.B: Not so fast, wise guy. I’m talking about principles like “Mental Visualization”, creati ng a picture in your mind of what is to be remembered.A: Ok, that does sound different. Is “Association” a principle, you know, you connect what you want to remember with something you’re familiar with?B: Right on! “Consolidation ” is another. I review m y notes right after class and consolidate or absorb the new material into what I’ve already learned.A: Y ou’re moving ahead fast with those principles. I swear this weekend I’m going to study sixteen hours a day both Saturday and Sunday.B: Whoa, big guy. That’s not the way. Follow the principle of “Distributed Practice”. Shorter study sessions distributed over several days are better.A: That system is all very well for you; you’ve got a good memory. But what about me? I’ve got a memory like a sieve.B: Y o u’re too modest. There’s nothing wrong with your memory. But memory is like a muscle; it needs exercise. And don’t forget it.Topic 2 School LifeA: We’re going to have a test, and I also have a term paper to finish. But I haven’t done a thing. I’m real ly worried now.B: Y ou’re going to have to hit the books if you want to get good grades.A: But this course is so difficult that I really don’t understand it at all.B: We could study together. Maybe some of my organized study habits can help you.A: Better yet, maybe you could write a term paper for me.B: Forget it! That would be cheating.A: All right, all right. I have yet to write it myself. Maybe I can downlaod some articles from the Internet and piece them together.B: Y ou can borrow ideas from thos e articles, but if you quote without giving the sources, you’re plagiarizing.A: Also, the test next week will be a headache. If you don’t help me, I’ll have to prepare a cheat-sheet and hide it in my hand during the test.B: Oh, no! If you’re caught, the professor will definitely give you an F.A: I’ll try to be careful.B: But if the professor catches you, you’ll have to repeat the year. Y ou’re just going to have to study hard.A: Ok, I’ll take your advice. The library’s going to be my new home, and in the dorm I’ll be burning the midnight oil.Topic 3 Job Hunting1A: B, can you give me some tips about how to get a good job?B: Did you go to the job fairs and meet with companies?A: Y eah, I did. But they didn’t seem to be interested in unexperienced gr aduates. I thought about suing them for discrimination against green graduates.B: I’m afraid it won’t be much help. Have you looked at the want ads in the newspaper?A: I’ve been checking the want ads every day for a week, but I can’t find anything intere sting that I’m qualified for. And the few that I have seen are very low-paying.B: Then try the Internet. Y ou can use a search engine to find a job site related to your field.A: Good thinking! Thanks! I think I’ll look for something in electronic engineer ing.B: Hey, I just saw a job opening at a company called E-Tech. It could be just the sort of thing you’re looking for.A: Great, I’ll try my luck there.B: Y eah, but if I remember, the deadline is this afternoon.A: This afternoon? Oh no! I’d better get online quickly and see if I can submit my resume by e-mail.B: Wait, have you updated your resume? Y ou’d better include your practice experience in the IT company last summer.A: Don’t worry. It’s all set. Thanks, mate.B:Any time, A.2A:Tommy, I heard that you've already graduated for over a year, but why it was so hard for you to find a job?B:Well, you know all positions related to IT industry has been shrinking due to the stupid economic recession.A:Don't tell me you're majoring in computer.B:Y eah, you're right. Indeed my major is computer, so that's why I am still hunting for a job. A:I see. Have you ever turned to someone for help, perhaps your friends or your relatives?B:Y eah, hard as I tried, yet the result were all ending with failures. It really frustrates me. By the way, do you have any ideas to help me out of this trouble?A:I can't guarantee you anything but I suggest you some ways which you should give a shot. B:Like what?Could you be a little more specific?A:Sure.Ways like going to job fairs, reading newspapers to look for information about jobs, or searching on the Internet. They are all some effective ways.B:Thank you so much. I really appreciate your proposals. I will bear that in mind and start to look for my job with an optimistic attitude.A:That's right. Hope you succeed.B:Thank you.A: Children nowadays are really having a hard time.B: How do you come to that?A: Well, because they are being forced to learned English in the very early age!B: I can't see any thing wrong with that?A: But they have to learn our language too...at the same time!B: Time has changed, English is now the most important international language in the world..... A: Y es, I have no objection to that, but..B: That is only for their own good. It would give them a good foundation with their English learning....A:But apart from have to learn English very early, they have to learn our own language too! That's double pressure!B: It's necessary, in order to have a good future, they need to learn English early.A: I think learning our own language first is far more important.B: Y ou can't be more wrong, learning other language is better start at younger age. When the brain is still empty with plenty of space to store new information!A: I do not agree. I think we are pushing our children too hard. We are giving them too much work and too much pressure at such a young age.B: Y ou are wrong about that too. Learning English is just another subject in their school work. Most children only find learning English fun.A: That's your opinion, you are not children anymore, how do you know?B: Y ou are not children either and how do you know they don't like it?A: That's common sense. How do you feel if you have been given double amount of homework, and have very little time to play when you were very young?B: I do not think learning English would take too much or any extra time for the children. They spend the same amount of time in school as before.A: What about after school? They have to revise two sets of languages compare with only one before, right?B: As I have put earlier, that's just another subject for them. The amount of homework would be still reasonable and bearable for all the children.A: Oh, I don't think we will ever come to any conclusion of compromise. Let's stop our argument right here.B: Y es, before it harms our friendship. If we can't convince each other then betterjust leave the matter alone. So, still friends?A: Y es, we are still friends, let's forget about what have been argued about!B: Right.Topic 5 Envirovmental Problems1A: Do you think most people around you respect nature?B: I think so. Umm….. more now than before.A: What do you think is the most serious environmental problem in the world today?B: Today……I think damage to the ozone layer is a big problem because it will make our earth become warmer and warmer; and another problem is pollution in big cities and things like that. A: How do you learn about environmental problems?B: Umm… through school. A lot of clubs promote environmental safety, and some TV programs, too. They talk about environmental safety and stuff like that.A: Do you think students should learn more about the environment at school?B: I think so. So, as they grow older, they can be more aware of all the problems that are going on. And also to prevent more problems from occurring.A: If you could create a new law to help the environment, what would it be?B: A new law for the en vironment? Umm…. I ’d probably say that when people throw away their cigarette butts, they have to throw them into the garbage bin, not just throw them everywhere because it’s just littering and I hate that. So they should be fined if they throw them on th e floor or on the ground.A: That’s a good idea. What do you personally do to help protect the environment?B: I’m so against littering. I never litter. If I see somebody litter, I get really angry. So I always throw my trash into the garbage bin.2A:Hello, what do you think of the weather today?B: It is very warm.A: Do you think it is a bit strange. It was cold this time last year.B:Y es, it is the end of autumn, and the weather should be cold. However, it is still warm. The winter is coming soon and I think we may have a warm winter this year.A: I agree. I am a bit worried about the change of weather.B: It is unnormal now. I am concerned about this, too.A: Do you know what causes the change of weather?B: Air pollution may be one of the reasons. Industries poor too much waste smoke into the air.The air has been polluted so seriously.A: That is a problem. The situation is becoming worse and woerse.B: What is more, we have done too much harm to our environment. For example, people cut down trees, turn farmlands into buildings and so on.A: Y es, what we human beings have done have broken the balance of the ecology, which leads to the change of weather.B:I think we should do someting to help.A: Let us and people around us take action from now on.A:How long have you been in America?B: Since two years ago, what about you?A: Almost 10 years now.B: What impression do you get in this piece land of hope?A: The multicultural society of course. and you?B: Yes, I love about many things about this country, such as Hollywood, the home of moving pictures!A: Me too, I also love the way the American use the ideas of entertainments.B: What particular thing or things you like most about it then?A: I love country music!B: Oh that! yes I love them too. Plenty of beautiful songs.A: They made entertionments out of enterteinments as well!B: What are talking about?A: Well, the famous cartoon creating Walt Disney had also come up with the ideas of Disneyland and Disneyworld to entertain all the children from both the USA and everywhere in the world! Isn't that great?B: Oh yes that too. but to me, I love American sports. 米老鼠前边站看一只唐老鸭,看起来它高兴极了。
右边还有一只睡着的小狗,看它睡得多香啊!最下边有一只米老鼠正在开高级的小汽车。

Countries around the world celebrate their own holidays and festivals. In every country, the calendar is sprinkled with holidays and other special days. Some holidays, like Thanksgiving, began as a time to give thanks for bountiful harvests or other good fortune.Others, like the Fourth of July and Canada Day on July 1, celebrate historic events —the birthdays of the United States and Canada.Still others are associated with religion.Chinese communities around the world celebrate the Chinese New Year for two weeks. This festival usually falls between January 21 and February 19.The date changes from year to year because it is based on the new moon.To prepare for the New Year, families clean their houses and sweep away any bad luck. The celebration includes fireworks and parades.No.2As a great player that Michael Jordan was, he hadn’t won any championships until he learned to involve his teammates by trusting them and distributing the ball.In one of the highest scoring games of his career, where he scored 63 points and set a playoff game record, his team lost to the Boston Celtics. In a sport where individual greatness is in large part measured by winning a championship ring, personal glory does not get the job done.So it is with life. Contribute, co-operate and share.No.3Capsule hotels are one of Japan’s best known and unique types of lodging. They are usually found around major train stations in large cities, andtarget individuals looking for a low budget, single night’s stay.Measuring around 1x2x2.5 meters, the tight quarters usually contain a bed, a television, Internet access, and an outlet for plugging in electronics. These cheap hotels were originally developed to be used by men on overnight business trips, but in recent years many guests are actually unemployed or homeless individuals who rent the capsules on a monthly basis. There are capsule hotels outside of Japan,in cities such as Xi’an, Singapore, and London.A fashion show is an event put on by a fashion designer to showcase his or her upcoming line of clothing. In a typical fashion show, models walk the catwalk dressed in the clothing created by the designer.Fashion shows are meant to be entertaining and are expected to be a type of art exhibition. The designer’sstyle and sense of fashion is being presented as much as the clothes, which is why the models’hair design and makeup are also often extreme and eye-catching.No.5People make many different kinds of homes around the world.Weather tells us what kind of homes we need to make.In hot places such as southern China and southern USA, the weather is warm so people can be outside most of the time.Homes in such places usually have screens on their windows. They let the wind into the home, but keep out the insects. In Canada, northern China and other cold places, homes need to keep out the cold and keep in the heat. These homes need thick walls. If there is a lot of snow, the roofs need to let the snow fall off easily. These homes cannot have flat roofs. The roofs must also be strong, so they can hold the snow. What kind of home do you live in?Is it good for the weather you have?No.6Buying and selling for profit is nothing new.It has been around for thousands of years; the only difference is that the currency has switched from goats and bread to paper and plastic. However, in recent years, buying and selling has exploded from being the closely guarded secret of a few to the popular occupation of hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. All these changes result from the advent, wide acceptance and use of the Internet.。

大学英语3口语考试
2015.11
一)考试形式
口语考试占《大学英语听说3》课程期末考试成绩的30%,其中包括两部分:
第一部分(20%):两名考生为一组抽选一个话题,就所选话题进行对话,时间约2分钟左右;
