三、写作意图题(2019·天津,D)Would you BET on the future of this man?He is 53 years old. Most of his adult life has been a losing struggle against debt and misfortune.A war injury has made his left hand stop functioning, and he has often been in prison.Driven by heaven-knows-what motives,he determines to write a book. The book turns out to be one that has appealed to the world for more than 350 years. That former prisoner was Cervantes, and the book was Don Quixote(《堂吉诃德》).And the story poses an interesting question:why do some people discover new vitality and creativity to the end of their days, while others go to seed long before? We’ve all known people who run out of steam before they reach life’s halfway mark.I’m not talking about those who fail to get to the top.We can’t all get there.I’m talking about people who have stopped learning on growing because they have adopted the fixed attitudes and opinions that all too often come with passing years. Most of us,in fact, progressively narrow the variety of our lives. We succeed in our field of specialization and then become trapped in it.Nothing surprises us.We lose our sense of wonder. But,if we are willing to learn, the opportunities are everywhere. The things we learn in maturity seldom involve information and skills. We learn to bear with the things we can’t change. We learn to avoid self-pity.We learn that however much we try to please, some people are never going to love us—an idea that troubles at first but is eventually relaxing. With high motivation and enthusiasm,we can keep on learning. Then we will know how important it is to have meaning in our life. However,we can achieve meaning only if we have madea commitment to something larger than our own little egos(自我),whether to loved ones,to fellow humans,to work,or to some moral concept. Many of us equate(视……等同于) “commitment”with such “caring”occupations as teaching and nursing. But doing any ordinary job as well as one can is in itself an admirable commitment.People who work toward such excellence—whether they are driving a truck,or running a store—make the world better just by being the kind of people they are. They’ve learned life’s most valuable lesson.51.The passage starts with the story of Cervantes to show that .A.loss of freedom stimulates one’s creativityB.age is not a barrier to achieving one’s goalC.misery inspires a man to fight against his fateD.disability cannot stop a man’s pursuit of success答案B解析推理判断题。

That’s when I learned about the Lighthouse Project.I started my journey as a Lighthouse Project volunteer by reading as much as I could about the experiences of previous volunteers. I knew it would be a lot of hard work, and that I wouldbe away from my family and friends for a very long time. In short, I did not take my decision to apply for the Lighthouse Project lightly. Neither did my family.Eventually, however, I won the support of my family, and Isent in all the paperwork needed for application. After countless interviews and presentations, I managed to stand out among the candidates and survive the test alone. Several months later, Ifinally received a call asking me to report for duty. I would begoing to a small village near Abuja, Nigeria. Where? What? Nigeria?I had no idea. But I was about to find out. After completing my training, I was sent to the village that was small and desperately in need of proper accommodation. Thoughthe local villagers were poor, they offered their homes, hearts, and food as if I were their own family. I was asked to lead a small team of local people in building a new schoolhouse. For the next year or so, I taught in that same schoolhouse. But I sometimes think Ilearned more from my students than they did from me.Sometime during that period, I realized that all those things that had seemed so strange or unusual to me no longer did, though I did not get anywhere with the local language, and I returned to the United States a different man. Well, I'm happy totell you what I know. When I started school here, it had already been a week since the school opened. At this school, freshmen usually go on a trip for about three days at the beginning of school. Unfortunately I missed that wonderful trip, which would have been the best time to get to know my classmates. I was really sad. I wished I d known about it earlier.Despite the disappointment, however, I gradually adapted tomy new life and school. There is a space in the basement of the teaching building where students chat and meet each other. As we do not always havethe same classrooms and classmates, the school wants us to get to know each other there. Students usually come to school early, sit in that space and have fun. Around the space, there are many lockersfor students to leave their books in, so that students do not haveto carry a heavy schoolbageverywhere. It really surprises me that we have almost no textbooks. We only have textbooks for World History and Algebra and they are big and heavy, like bricks. For other classes,we only need binders(活页夹) with paper in them. Without textbooks, students learn things freely and actively. For example, my humanities teacher just teaches uswhat is in her mind at the time. We never know what we will learn.Another difference between American schools and Chineseschools is that American schools care about students' morality more than their academic studies. For example, if you do not finish your homework, you will just be asked to do it later, but if you cheat or lie, you will get a warning or even be kicked out.I think that most students here are good at schoolwork as well, but compared to Chinese students, they can make learning a more joyful experience. I said,“Didn’t you say ‘You don’t say! Hearing this, the Englishman laughed to tears. He began to ex-plain,“‘You don’t say! ’ actually means ‘Really! ’ It is an expression of surprise. Perhaps you don't pay attention to English idioms. " Only then did I know I had made a fool of myself. Since then I have been more careful with idiomatic expressions. 第二节推理判断题一、细节推断题(2019·江苏,C)Who cares if people think wrongly that the Internet has had more important influences than the washing machine? Why does it matter that people are more impressed by the most recent changes? It would not matter if these misjudgments were just a matter of people’s opinions. However, they have real impacts,as they result in misguided use of scarce resources. The fascination with the ICT(Information and Communication Technology) revolution, represented by the Internet, has made some rich countries wrongly conclude that making things is so “yesterday” that they should try to live on ideas. This belief in “post-industrial society” has led those countries to neglect their manufacturing sector(制造业),with negative consequences for their economies.Even more worryingly, the fascination with the Internet by people in rich countries has moved the international community to worry about the “digital divide” between the rich countries and the poor countries. This has led companies and individuals to donate money to developing countries to buy computer equipment and Internet facilities. The question, however,is whether this is what the developing countries need the most.Perhaps giving money for those less fashionable things such as digging wells, extending electricity networks and making more affordable washing machines would have improved people’s lives more than giving every child a laptop computer or setting upInternet centres in rural villages.I am not saying that those things are necessarily more important, but many donators have rushed into fancy programmes without carefully assessing the relative long-term costs and benefits of alternative uses of their money. In yet another example,a fascination with the new has led people to believe that the recent changes in the technologies of communications and transportation are so revolutionary that now we live in a “borderless world”.As a result,in the last twenty years or so,many people have come to believe that whatever change is happening today is the result of great technological progress, going against which will be like trying to turn the clock back.Believing in such a world, many governments have put an end to some of the very necessary regulations on cross-border flows of capital, labour and goods, with poor results.Understanding technological trends is very important for correctly designing economic policies, both at the national and the international levels, and for making the right career choices at the individual level. However, our fascination with the latest, and our under-valuation of what has already become common, can, and has,led us in all sorts of wrong directions.61.Misjudgments on the influences of new technology can lead to .A.a lack of confidence in technologyB a slow progress in technologyC.a conflict or public opinionsD.a waste of limited resources答案D解析细节理解题。

高考英语易错题专题三阅读理解(含解析)一、高中英语阅读理解1.阅读理解Plants are boring. They just sit there photosynthesizing (光合作用) while animals have all the fun. Right? Not so much. A new study has found that there is a long history of interactions between ants and plants. The ant and plant co-evolution (协同进化) started with ants feeding on plants and plants evolving ant-friendly features.Plants make a number of different structures that are specific for ant use. Some plants have evolved features that persuade ants into defending them from attack from other insects and even mаmmаlѕ. Тhеѕе іnсludе hollow thorns that аntѕ will live іnѕіdе, or ехtra nесtаr (琼浆) оn lеаvеѕ or stems for the ants to eat. Some ants will just cheat and take the nectar and run, but some will stick around and attack anything that tries to hurt the plant. Other plants get ants to help them move their seeds around, by providing them with rich food packets attached to the seeds. The ant will pick up the seed and carry it away, eat the food packet, and leave the seed - often in a nutrient-rich area where it'll grow better, and since it's farther away from its parent, they won't have to compete for resources. But scientists weren't sure how the evolutionary relationship between ants and plants got started. If evolution is an arms race between species developing ways to make use of their neighbors, then scientists wanted to know whether plants or ants fired the first shot. It was a chicken-and-egg question, whether things started with ants developing behaviors to take advantage of plants, or plants evolving structures to take advantage of ants. The history of ants and plants evolving together goes back to the time of the dinosaurs, and it's not easy to tell from fossils who fired the first shot. However, it is a question of little significance. Scientists say their study maters because it provides a look at how these widespread and complex interactions evolved.(1)Some plants attach food packets to their seeds in order to .A.reward the antsB.make a fool of antsC.provide nutrition for the seedsD.get the seeds moved around(2)What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us?A.How plants and ants interact.B.What ants do to protect plants.C.How plants and ants survive attacks.D.Why plants and ants need co-evolution.(3)Which is true about the evolutionary relationship between ants and plants?A.Ants depended more upon plants.B.It caused a race for better evolution.C.How it got started was uncertain.D.It was of little value for future studies.(4)What's the author's purpose of writing the passage?A.To introduce a science research method.B.To inform readers of a latest research findingC.To arouse readers' interest in science research.D.To criticize people's traditional views about plants.【答案】(1)D(2)A(3)C(4)B【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,一项新的研究发现,蚂蚁和植物之间的互动有着悠久的历史。

Surprisingly, these people live largely by their own laws and their own social customs. And yet, people in this area are in fact French citizens because it has been a colony(殖民地) of the French Republic since 1946. In theory, they should live by the French law is often ignored or unknown, thus making them into an interesting area of “lawlessness”in the world. The lives of these people have finally been recorded thanks to the effects of a Frenchman form Paris called Gin. Gin spent five months in early 2021 exploring the most remote corners of this area, which sits on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, with half its population of only 250,000 living in its capital, Cayenne.“I have a special love for the French Guianese people. I have worked there on and off for almost ten years,”says Gin. “I’ve been able to keep firm friendships with them. Thus I have been allowed to gain access to their living environment. I don’t see it as a lawless land. But rather I see it as an area of freedom.”“I wanted to show the audience a photographic record touching upon the uncivilized life,”continues Gin. “I prefer to work in black and white, which allows me to show different specific worlds more clearly.”His black and white pictures present a world almost lost in time. These pictures show people seemingly pushed into a world that they were unprepared for. These local citizens now have to balance their traditional self supporting hunting lifestyle with the lifestyle offered by the modern French Republic, which brings with it not only necessary state welfare, but also alcoholism, betrayal and even suicide.4. Why does the author feel surprised about the indigenous people in French Guiana?A. They seldom follow the French law.B. They often ignore the Guianese law.C. They are separated from the modern world.D. They are both Guianese and French citizens.5. What is Gin’s attitude towards the lives of the indigenous Guianese?A. Cautious.B. Doubtful.C. Uninterested.D. Appreciative.6. What does the underlined word “it”in the last paragraph refer to?A. The modern French lifestyle.B. The self supporting hunting.C. The uncivilized hunting.D. The French Republic.C(2022·新课标Ⅰ卷)The meaning of silence varies among cultural groups. Silences may be thoughtful, or they may be empty when a person has nothing to say. A silence in a conversation may also show stubbornness, uneasiness, or worry. Silence may be viewed by some cultural groups as extremely uncomfortable; therefore attempts may be made to fill every gap(间隙) with conversation. Persons in other cultural groups value silence and view it as necessary for understanding a person’s needs. Many Native Americans value silence and feel it is a basic part of communicating among people, just as some traditional Chinese and Thai persons do. Therefore, when a person from one of these cultures is speaking and suddenly stops, what may be implied(示意) is that the person wants the listener to consider what has been said before continuing. In these cultures, silence is a call for reflection.Other cultures may use silence in other ways, particularly when dealing with conflicts among people or in relationships of people with different amounts of power. For example, Russian, French, and Spanish persons may use silence to show agreement between parties about the topic under discussion. However, Mexicans may use silence when instructions are given by a person in authority rather than be rude to that person by arguing with him or her. In still another use, persons in Asian cultures may view silence as a sign of respect, particularly to an elder or a person in authority.Nurses and other care givers need to be aware of the possible meanings of silence when they come across the personal anxiety their patients may be experiencing. Nurses should recognize their own personal and cultural construction of silence so that a patient’s silence is not interrupted too early or allowed to go on unnecessarily. A nurse who understands the healing(治愈) value of silence can use this understanding to assist in the care of patients from their own and from other cultures.7. What does the author say about silence in conversations?A. It implies anger.B. It promotes friendship.C. It is culture specific.D. It is content based.8. Which of the following people might regard silence as a call for careful thought? A. The Chinese.B. The French.C. The Mexicans.D. The Russians.9. What does the author advise nurses to do about silence?A. Let it continue as the patient pleases.B. Break it while treating patients.C. Evaluate its harm to patients.D. Make use of its healing effects.10. What may be the best title for the text?A. Sound and SilenceB. What It Means to Be SilentC. Silence to Native AmericansD. Speech Is Silver; Silence Is GoldD(2022·上海卷)Enough “meaningless drivel”. That’s the message from a group of members of the UK government who have been examining how social media firms like LinkedIn gather and use social media data. The House of Commons Science and Technology Committee’s report, released last week, has blamed firms for making people sign up to long incomprehensible legal contracts and calls for an international standard or kitemark(风筝标志) to identify sites that have clear terms and conditions.“The term and conditions statement that we all carelessly agree to is meaningless drivel to anyone,”says Andrew Miller, the chair of the committee. Instead, he says, firms should provide a plain English version of their terms. The simplified version would be checked by a third party and awarded a kitemark if it is an accurate reflection of the original. It is not yet clear who would administer the scheme, but the UK government is looking at introducing it on a voluntary basis. “we need to think through how we make that work in practice,”says Miller.Would we pay any more attention to a kitemark? “I think if you went and did the survey, people would like to think they would,”says Nigel Shadbolt at the University of Southampton, UK, who studies open data. “We do know people worry a lot about the inappropriate use of their information.”But what would happen in practice is another matter, he says.Other organizations such as banks ask customers to sign long contracts they may not read or understand, but Miller believes social media requires special attention because it is so new. “We still don’t know how significant the long term impact is going to be of unwise things that kids put on social media that come back and bite them in 20 years’time,”he says.Shadbolt, who gave evidence to thecommittee, says the problem is that we don’t know how companies will use our data because their business models and uses of data are still evolving. Large collections of personal information have become valuable only recently, he says. The shock and anger when a social media firm does something with data that people don’t expect, even if users have apparently permission, show that the current situation isn’t working. If properly administered, a kitemark on terms and conditions could help people know what exactly they are signing up to. Although they would still have to actually read them.11. What does the phrase “meaningless drivel”in paragraphs 1 and 3 refer to?A. Legal contracts that social media firms make people sign up to.B. Warnings from the UK government against unsafe websites.C. Guidelines on how to use social media websites properly.D. Insignificant data collected by social media firms.12. It can be inferred from the passage that Nigel Shadbolt doubts whether .A. social media firms would conduct a survey on the kitemark schemeB. people would pay as much attention to a kitemark as they thinkC. a kitemark scheme would be workable on a nationwide scaleD. the kitemark would help companies develop their business models13. Andrew Miller thinks social media needs more attention than banks mainly because .A. their users consist largely of kids under 20 years oldB. the language in their contracts is usually harder to understandC. the information they collected could become more valuable in futureD. it remains unknown how users’data will be taken advantage of14. The writer advises users of social media to .A. think carefully before posting anything onto such websitesB. read the terms and conditions even if there is a kitemarkC. take no further action if they can find a kitemarkD. avoid providing too much personal information15. Which of the following is the best title of the passage?A. Say No to Social Media?B. New Security Rules in Operation?C. Accept Without Reading?D.
