核心素养测评三十二 选修7 Unit 2 Robots(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解A世纪金榜导学号 If you live in Washington, D. C. , or Redwood, Calif. , you may have glimpsed a small, boxy robot rolling along a local sidewalk, minding it’s own business, but attracting the attention of many a curious onlooker. The autonomous machines were part of a pilot program last year by Starship Technologies focused on delivering meals from local restaurants in dozens of cities around the world.“Today, more than ever, people lead a busy and diverse life, ” Lex Bayer, Starship’s CEO, said in a statement online. “The hassle of needing to rearrange your life for a delivery will become a thing of the past. You don’t have to switch your working from home day, reschedule meetings, visit a locker, drive to a post office or contact a deliveryman all because of a missed delivery. ”The package delivery service is not available to everyone just yet. The company said it’s rolling out the service in Milton Keynes, England. The wheeled robots have a top speed of 4 mph and can detect obstacles from as far as 30 feet away. “The robot can operate through just about anything, ” Nick Handrick, head of operations for Starship’s D. C. office, told The Washington Post’s Maura Judkis last year. “If you had something in the way—a stick—it’s able to climb the edges of a road. ”By giving customers control of when deliveries occur, Starship Technologies is offering its service as a way to battle package theft. In its announcement, the company cited statistics from a Wakefield Research Poll for Comcast last year that found that 3 in 10 Americans who live in houses or townhouses have had packages stolen. To sign up for the service, which costs a little more than $10 per month, customers need to download the company’s app. Customers then create a “Starship Delivery Address”, a unique address inside a Starship facility, instead of a residence, where they can have packages sent from places such as Amazon. com. Once a package is delivered to the Starship address, customers receive a text that allows them to schedule a home delivery via robot.【文章大意】本文是一篇说明文, 主要介绍了一项新科技发明——世界上第一个机器人包裹递送服务。

If you spend most of the rest of the day sitting, you are putting yourself at increased chance of heart disease, cancers and an early death. In other words, even if you exercise energetically, sitting for long periods is bad for you.So what's wrong with sitting? One is that sitting is one of the most passive things you can do. You burn more energy by chewing gum than you do sitting still in a chair. Compared to sitting, standing in one place is hard work. To stand, you have to tense your leg muscles, and the muscles of your back and shoulders. While standing, you often change from leg to leg. All of this burns energy. For many people, weight gain is a matter of slow increase. Thus, a little more time on your feet today and tomorrow can easily make the difference between remaining thin and getting fat. So part of the problem with sitting a lot is that you don't use as much energy as those who spend more time on their feet. This makes it easier to gain weight, and makes you more likely to suffer from the health problems that fatness often brings. Some people have advanced solutions: replace your sitdown desk with a standup desk. Make sure that your television can only operate if you are practising on an exercise bike. Replace your office chair with a therapy (治疗) ball: this too uses more muscles, and more energy, than a normal chair, because you have to support your back and work to keep balanced. But whatever you choose, know this. It is clear: be careful of your chair.(再次强调主题)【语篇解读】即使你每天跑步经常锤炼,久坐也会让你体重逐步增加,同时增加患心脏病的风险。

Unit 2 Robots李仕才一、阅读理解。

Winston Churchill is probably the most popular British prime minister ever. Having served as a soldier and politician, he is often considered among the greatest of Britons. While his heroic stand against the Nazis is well know, there are still a few facts about the popular politician that might surprise you.His CigarsThe classic image of Winston Churchill includes a giant cigar stuck between his lips. Churchill developed his love of cigars as a young man, when he traveled to Cuba. For the rest of his life, he smoked eight or nine cigars every day. However, he almost never took a puff(吸,抽), preferring to chew on the end until it went out, then relight it and start again. To prevent the cigar becoming soggy (湿软的), Churchill invented the "bellybando", a strip of brown paper which could be glued around the end.At any given time, Churchill had 3,000 to 4,000 cigars in his house, mostly his favorite Romeo & Juliet brand. On one occasion, the president of Cuba presented Churchill with 2,400 top-quality cigars, although his security team insisted one cigar from each box be sent off and tested for poison. Perhaps the story that best shows his love of cigars occurred during World War II, when he had a special oxygen mask designed so that he could still smoke his cigar on a high-altitude flight. His Black DogThroughout his life, Churchill probably suffered from depression, which he called his "black dog". At times, his depression was so severe that he didn’t likestanding close to a passing train or looking at the ocean from a ship because he feared that he would commit suicide. When he was depressed, Churchill would almost spend a great deal of time in bed and lose his ability to concentrate. However, when not depressed, Churchill was full of energy, usually working and talking until the early hours of the morning. He often described how "all the colors come back into the picture".1. Why did Churchill’s security team insist on checking the cigars?A. To test if they were safe for Churchill.B. To see if they were of the best quality.C. To make sure they were Churchill’s favorite.D. To guarantee they were not out of date.2. Which of the following best shows Churchill’s love of cigars?A. He fell in love with cigars at a young age.B. He smoked many cigars every day.C. He invented the "bellybando".D. He had an oxygen mask specially designed for smoking.3. What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean?A. Churchill became energetic again.B. Churchill remained depressed.C. Churchill drew colorful pictures.D. Churchill liked to talk about colors.4. What is probably the best title of the passage?A. Achievements of ChurchillB. Anecdotes about ChurchillC. Personalities of ChurchillD. Hobbies of Churchill【文章大意】丘吉尔是英国最受欢迎的首相,文章介绍丘吉尔的一些奇闻轶事。

三十二选修7 Unit 2 Robots(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解A(2021·威海模拟) Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso and Leonardo da Vinci . . . the art world has never lacked talent. And now, a new painter is ready to join the list, although this one isn’t even human.Next month, auction house(拍卖行) Christie’s Prints and Multiples will make history by offering the first piece of art created by artificial intelligence for sale. The painting is a portrait of a man called Edmond De Belamy, and is expected to be sold for up to $10, 000 (69, 000 yuan). The work, which features a man with a mysterious look on his face, was created by software developed by the French art group Obvious. Nicholas Laugero Lasserre, an art collector from France, called the work “ridiculous and amazing a t the same time”. This isn’t the first example of AI-produced artwork, as AI has already been used to write poems and compose songs. However, many people doubt whether it should be called art at all.According to Russian writer Leo Tolstoy, art is about creating emotion. It’s “a means of. . . joining people together in the same feelings”, he once said. So, if the emotion behind art is what makes the art, the ability to create and use tools is what makes human beings different from other species. And asa tool itself, the AI technology used to create the portrait is the result of a lot of effort made by several designers. Together, they “fed” the AI a huge collection of paintings from the 14th to the 18th centuries, until it was able to work out how to make similar paintings of its own.The introduction of AI art could be the beginning of a new artistic movement. However, not everyone is ready to welcome these high-tech artists just yet. 【文章大意】这是一篇议论文。

课时作业 32Ⅰ.阅读理解(2019·陕西省榆林市第一中学高三检测)Robots come in many shapes and sizes, but scientists in Zurich, Switzerland, have developed one new robot called Pleurobot, which looks and acts just like a salamander (火蜥蜴).To create the robot, scientists took hun dreds of Xrays of real salamanders. They studied the images of these animals to see which joints (关节) and muscles the animals use as they move. Then the scientists built the Pleurobot's skeleton to move just like the real thing. This makes the robot's movements incredibly lifelike.According to experts, salamanders were among the first animals to develop a skeleton and nervous system that allowed them to travel on land. “By studying the modern salamander, we have a time window to the ancestors of all vertebrates(脊椎动物), including humans,” Auke Ijspeert, the designer of the robot, told scholastic News Online. Both people and salamanders have a spinal cord (脊髓). An injury to the spinal cord can result in the inability to move. Now, there is no cure for paralysis (瘫痪). Ijspeert hopes that the Pleurobot can help change that. Because these studies could help researchers develop new ways to help people who have been paralyzed by spinal cord injuries.Scientists think that the Pleurobot could also be used for searchandrescue tasks too dangerous for humans. Because the robot is low to the ground and has a wide range of motion, it could be used to get into dangerous places, like fallen buildings, to look for survivors. Thanks to its waterproof suit, the robotic salamander could even participate in underwater missions.Experts are now working on a smaller, sturdier (harder to break) model of the Pleurobot. They expect this one to be even better suited for getting into small spaces to do dangerous work.这篇文章主要讲了瑞士的科学家发明了一款新的机器人,这款机器人看起来有些像火蜥蜴。

But a team of scientists at Harvard University in the US has managed to build an entirely soft robot—one that draws inspiration from an octopus(章鱼).Described in science journal Nature, the “Octobot〞 could pave the way for more effective autonomous robots that could be used in search, rescue and exploration. “The Octobot is a minimal system which may serve as a foundation for a new generation of completely soft, autonomous robots,〞 the study's authors wrote.Robots built for precise, repetitive movements in a controlled environment don't do so well on rough terrains(地形) or in unpredictable conditions. And they aren't especially safe around humans, because they're made out of hard and heavy parts that could be potentially dangerous to their users. So researchers have been working on building soft robots for decades. They've taken inspiration from nature, looking to animals from jellyfish to cockroaches, which are often made up of more flexible matter. But creating a completely soft robot remains a challenge. Even if engineers build a silicone(硅酮) body, it's still a grand challenge to construct flexible versions of essential parts, such as a source of power.“Although soft robotics is still in its early stage, it holds great promise for several a pplications, such as searchandrescue operations and exploration,〞Barbara Mazzolai and Virgilio Mattoli of the Italian Institute of Technology's Center for MicroBioRobotics, wrote in a comment. “Soft robots might also open up new approaches to improving wellness and quality of life.〞语篇导读科学家受到章鱼的启发,制造了软体机器人,本文介绍了这种机器人的研发过程、用处与局限等。

2021年高考英语一轮总复习 课时作业32 Robots 新人教版

2021年高考英语一轮总复习课时作业32 Robots 新人教版Ⅰ.阅读理解(xx·山东省菏泽市月考)Many of the 85 million people in Irene's path—from the Carolinas toMaine—had not experienced hurricanes, or had only been through storms thatwere weaker, smaller and less damaging. For those unfamiliar with severehurricanes, Irene was either abstract or not particularly frightening, something to get excited about more than to fear.Given that the way we perceive(感觉) and respond to risk isaffective—not merely objectively analytical, but the sum of the facts andhow scary those facts feel—it was likely that many people might be ignorantof the storm's threat. So it was heartening to see how many did in fact take the warnings toheart and prepared. The long lines at grocery stores, the high demand forbatteries and bottled water, and even the patience and understanding aboutlocal government orders to evacuate(撤离) or shut down mass transit systems, show that people took the potential danger seriously. There are two possible lessons from this storm. As much as our affectiverisk perception system can sometimes produce a dangerous “perceptiongap” between our fears and the facts—when we sometimes fear more thanwe need to, or less than we should—it's also reasonably good at recognizing risk when it's_staring_us_in_the_face. Though most of us didn't lose power, we know that 7 million people did. Though most of us did not suffer property damage, we know that millions did. Most of us did not lose loved ones, but we know that at least 21 families did. We know hurricanes can be dangerous, even if for many of us this one wasn't.The other lesson is that rare risks do hide and can spring up with little or no warning, and few of us are prepared for those. Remember the East Coast earthquake last week?It might have been annoying to wait in line for hours for those extra D batteries or food supplies, but it was careful to do so, and it's a good idea to keep them on hand. Just because a risk might not be staring us in the face or feel all that scary, it doesn't mean that it doesn't make sense to be ready. Just in case.1.From the passage, we can know that Irene ________.A.is the way people respond to riskB.is the order to evacuate or shut down mass transit systemsC.was the name of a hurricaneD.was the author of the passage2.The underlined sentence “it's staring us in the face” in the fourth paragraph probably means ________.A.we are faced with risk that is unavoidableB.we'll have to take a riskC.we are likely to experience riskD.we are at risk of suffering property losses3.According to the passage, one of the lessons learnt from this storm is ________.A.people fear the storm more than they need toB.a dangerous storm will bee less damaging if forecast accuratelyC.people are always prepared for risks that happen without warningD.It's reasonable to be aware of risk facing us4.It can be inferred from the last paragraph that ________.A.it's not essential to be ready for the possible riskB.it doesn't make sense to take the potential danger seriouslyC.it's worthwhile to take proper measures to avoid possible riskD.it's wise to keep batteries or food supplies at home答案与解析本文来自美国网站New York Times, Dismissing the Threat? No Way, Updated August 29,2011, 08:35 p.m. 众所周知,飓风的威力和破坏力是巨大的,但现代科技能预测飓风来临的时间、风向、速度和威力,从而对飓风所能经过的路线上的居民实施紧急撤离。

Sunday's wedding was the first time that a marriage had been led by a robot, according to manufacturer Kokoro Co.“Please lift the bride's veil(面纱),” the robot said in a tinny voic e, waving its arms in the air as the newlyweds kissed in front of guests. The wedding took place at a restaurant in Hibiya Park in central Tokyo, where the I–Fairy wore a wreath of flowers and directed a rooftop ceremony. Wires led out from beneath it to a black curtain a few feet away, where a man clicked mands into a puter.Japan has one of the most advanced robotics industries in the world, with the government actively supporting the field for future growth. Industrial models in factories are now standard, but recently Japanese panies are making a push to inject robots into everyday life.Honda makes a walking child–shaped robot, and other firms have developed them to entertain the elderly or play baseball. Kokoro, whose corporate goalis to “touch the hearts of the people”, also makes giant dinosaur robots for exhibitions and life–like android models that can smile and laugh. The pany is a subsidiary(附属公司) of Sanrio Co., which owns the rights to Hello Kitty and other Japanese characters.“This was a lot of fun. I think that Japanese have a strong sense that robots are our friends. Those in the robot industry mostly understand this, but people mainly want robots near them that serve some purposes,” said bride Satoko Inoue, 36, who works at manufacturer Kokoro Co.The I–Fairy sells for about 6.3 million yen ($57,000) and three are in use in Singapore, the US and Japan, according to pany spokeswoman Kayako Kido.语篇导读本文为说明文,介绍了能主持婚礼的机器人I–Fairy是如何主持婚礼以及其市场前景。

话题语篇专攻练三十选修6Unit 5The power of nature(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解A(2020·武汉模拟) Against the supposition that forest fires in Alaska, Canada and Siberia warm the climate, scientists have discovered that cooling may occur in areas where burnt trees allow more snow to mirror more sunlight into space. This finding suggests that taking steps to prevent northern forest fires to limit the release of greenhouse gases may warm the climate in northern regions. Usually large fires destroyed forests in these areas over the past decade. Scientists predict that with climate warming, fires may occur more frequently over the next several centuries as a result of a longer fire season. Sunlight taken in by the earth tends to cause warming, while heat mirrored back into space tends to cause cooling. This is the first study to analyze all aspects of how northern fires influence climate. Earlier studies by other scientists have suggested thatfire in northern regions speed up climate warming because greenhouse gases from burning trees and plants are released into the atmosphere and thus trap heat.Scientists found that right after the fire, large amounts of greenhouse gases entered the atmosphere and caused warming. Ozone(臭氧)levels increased, and ash from the fire fell on far-off sea ice, darkening the surface and causing more radiation from the sun to be taken in. The following spring, however, the land within the area of the fire was brighter than before the fire, because fewer trees covered the ground. Snow on the ground mirrored more sunlight back into space, leading to cooling.“We need to find out all possible ways to reduce the growth of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. ” Scientists trac ked the change in the amount of radiation entering and leaving the climate system as a result of the fire, and found a measurement closely related to the global air temperature. Typically, fire in northern regions occurs in the same area every 80 to 150 years. Scientists, however, found that when fire occurs more frequently, more radiation is lost from the earth and cooling results. Specifically, they determined when fire returns 20 years earlier than predicated, 0. 5 watts per square meter of area burned are soaked up by the earth from greenhouse gases, but 0. 9 watts per square meter will be sent back into space. The net effect is cooling. Watts are used to measurethe rate at which energy is gained or lost from the earth.【文章大意】本文是一篇说明文, 介绍了科学家发现在树木被烧毁的地区可能发生降温。

2021届高三英语一轮复习题组层级快练32Unit2Robots新人教版选修720210508126Ⅰ. 阅读明白得Many high school football programs have been cut recently due to concerns about player safety. Safety is one factor families may consider as their high schoolers decide what extracurricular(课外的) activities to participate in this year. Decreased football programs may also mean students are looking for new activities. For teens planning to apply to college, the activities they join in could hold weight during the admissions process.“We are not looking at just the student's academic records, although that's obviously important,” says Drew Riley, Associate Dean of Admission at Colgate University in New York. “Generally, we're looking for students who will contribute to university life beyond the classr oom.”Potential college students may have many activities to choose from, but they and their families should consider the following questions before selecting extracurricular activities.1. Is the student interested in the activity? Students should look for activities they are passionate about and can participate in fully. These activities don't need to be tied to a particular academic interest either. Students shouldn't limit themselves to only one activity, but there should be some depth and breadth to the activities. Longevity (持久) is important too. When writing applications, students should focus on the activities that will help them stand out.2. Does the activity help the community? Sometimes admissions officers at college want to see that applicants are motivated not just by improving themselves—but their communities too—through activities. Students don't necessarily have to participate in a service trip abroad to show this, Riley says. It could be something small that shows students attempt to make a positive impact on the world.3. What is the student's motivation for the activity? Admissions officers read hundreds—if not thousands—of applications a year and can tell if students aren't being authentic and are just participating in activities because they think it will build their resume(个人简历) for college, says Riley. Students should have an authentic interest in the activities they join.1. Why are high school football programs mentioned in the first paragraph?A. To show the benefits of extracurricular activities.B. To stress the importance of safety in activities.C. To describe some common kinds of activities.D. To introduce the topic for discussion.2. What does the author say about students' extracurricular involvement?A. It should be helpful in showing their personality.B. It can make a difference to their college application.C. It should be centered on students' self-improvement.D. It should be beneficial to their academic improvement.3. Which can replace the underlined word “passionate” in Paragraph 4?A. Crazy.B. Curious.C. Cautious.D. Happy.4. What is the passage mainly about?A. High school students are looking for new activities.B. Whether high school football programs should be cut.C. Why extracurricular activities pay off with college admission.D. Potential college students should attach importance to after-school activities. 答案与解析【文章大意】本文是一篇议论文。
