In order for that to happen, you need to do two very simple things: put yourself in such situations that you can experience happiness there, and then find a way to savour the experience and let it sink into you.To put yourself in the position of experiencing happiness every day, Lahna Catalino, Ph.D., at the University of California, San Francisco, recommends an approach called “prioritizing positivity”—organizing your daytoday life on purpose so that it contains situations which naturally give rise to positive emotions. It involves both carving out time in your daily routine to do things that you really love and heavily weighing the positive emotional consequences of major life decisions, like taking a new job, and you will regularly find yourself. Then how can we find a way to savour the happy experience and let it sink into you? Here is what psychologist Rick Hanson, the author of Buddha's Brain explains.Let a good fact become a good experience.Often we go through life and some good thing happens—a little thing, like we checked off an item on our To Do list, w e survived another day at work, the flowers are blooming, and so forth. Hey, this is an opportunity to feel good. Don't leave money lying on the table: Recognize that this is an opportunity to let yourself truly feel good.Really enjoy this positive experience.Practice what any school teacher knows: If you want to help people learn something, make it as intense as possible—in this case, as felt in the body as possible—for as long as possible. When sinking into this experience, sense your intention that this experience is sinking into you.Sometimes people do this through visualization, like by sensing a golden light coming into themselves or a soothing balm inside themselves. You might imagine a jewel going into the treasure chest in your heart—or just know that this experience is sinking into you, becoming a resource you can take with you no matter where you go.It might seem a little cliche(陈词滥调) to say “stop and smell the roses,”but it's moments like those that can be stored in your happiness bank and withdrawn later. Living a happy life can be assimple as accepting the happiness that's already around you. If you want more, it's ok to go out andReally enjoy the positive experience as long as possib。

Is it the price you see on the gift receipt? Or is it the look on the recipient’s face when they receive it that determines the true value? What gift is worth the most? This Christmas I was debating what to give my father. My dad is a hard person to buy for because he never wants anything. I pulled out my phone to read a text message from my mom saying that we were leaving for Christmas shopping for him when I came across a message on my phone that I had locked. The message was from my father. My eyes fell on a photo of a flower taken in Wyoming, and underneath a poem by William Blake. The flower, a lone dandelion standing against the bright blue sky, inspired me. My dad had been reciting those words to me since I was a kid. That may even be the reason why I love writing. I decided that those words would be my gift to my father.I called back. I told my mom to go without me and that I already created my gift. I sent the photo of the cream-colored flower to my computer and typed the poem on top of it. As I was arranging the details another poem came to mind. The poem was written by Edgar Allan Poe; my dad recited it as much as he did the other. I typed that out as well and searched online for a background to the words of it. The poem was focused around dreaming, and after searching I found the perfect picture. The image was painted with blues and greens and purples, twisting together to create the theme and wonder of a dream. As I watched both poems passing through the printer, the white paper coloring with words that shaped my childhood, I felt that this was a gift that my father wouldtruly appreciate.Christmas soon arrived. The minute I saw the look on my dad’s face as he unwrapped those swirling black letters carefully placed in a cheap frame, I knew I had given the perfect gift.56.

设方程g(x)=a的根为x2′,可得x2′=an-n2+x0,当n≥2时,g(x)在(-∞,+∞)上单调递减,又由(2)知g(x2)≥f(x2)=a=g(x2′),可得x2≤x2′. 设方程h(x)=a的根为x1′,可得x1′=an.由于h(x)=nx在(-∞,+∞)上单调递增,且h(x1′)=a=f(x1)<h(x1),因此x1′<x1.

ABenjamin West, the father of American painting, showed his talent for art when he was only six years of age.But he did not know about brushes before a visitor told him he needed one.In those days,a brush was made from camel’s hair. There were no camels nearby.Benjamin decided that cat hair would work instead. He cut some fur from the family cat to make a brush. The brush did not last long.Soon Benjamin needed more fur. Before long, the cat began to look ragged(蓬乱).His father said that the cat must be sick.Benjamin was forced to admit what he had been doing. The cat’s lot was about to improve. That year, one of Benjamin’s cousins,Mr.Pennington, came to visit. He was impressed with Benjamin’s drawings. When he went home,he sent Benjamin a box of paint and some brushes. He also sent six engravings(版画)by an artist. These were the first pictures and first real paint and brushes Benjamin had ever seen.In1747,when Benjamin was nine years old,Mr.Pennington returned for another visit. He was amazed at what Benjamin had done with his gift.He asked Benjamin’s parents if he might take the boy to Philadelphia for a visit. In the city,Mr.Pennington gave Benjamin materials for creating oil paintings. The boy began a landscape(风景)painting.William Williams,a well-known painter, came to see him work. Williams was impressed with Benjamin and gave him two classic books on painting to take home. The books were long and dull.Benjamin could read only a little, having been a poor student. But he later said,"Those two books were my companions by day,and under my pillow at night."While it is likely that he understood very little of the books, they were his introduction to classical paintings. The nine-year-old boy decided then that he would be an artist.1.What is the text mainly about?A.Benjamin’s visit to Philadelphia.B.Williams’influence on Benjamin.C.The beginning of Benjamin’s life as an artist.D.The friendship between Benjamin and Pennington.2.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph3suggest?A.The cat would be closely watched.B.The cat would get some medical care.C.Benjamin would leave his home shortly.D.Benjamin would have real brushes soon.3.What did Pennington do to help Benjamin develop his talent?A.He took him to see painting exhibitions.B.He provided him with painting materials.C.He sent him to a school in Philadelphia.D.He taught him how to make engravings.4.Williams’two books helped Benjamin to_____________.A.master the use of paintsB.appreciate landscape paintingsC.get to know other paintersD.make up his mind to be a painterBGetting less sleep has become a bad habit for most American kids.According to a new survey(调查)by the National Sleep Foundation,51%of kids aged10to18go to bed at10pm or later on school nights, even though they have to get up st year the Foundation reported that nearly60%of7-to12-year-olds said they felt tired during the day,and15%said they had fallen asleep at school. How much sleep you need depends a lot on your age.Babies need a lot of rest:most of them sleep about18hours a day!Adults need about eight hours. For most school-age children, ten hours is ideal(理想的).But the new National Sleep Foundation survey found that35%of10-to12-year-olds get only seven or eight hours. And guess what almost half of the surveyed kids said they do before bedtime?Watch TV.“More children are going to bed with TVs on,and there are more opportunities(机会)to stay awake, with more homework, the Internet and the phone,”says Dr.Mary Carskadon,a sleep researcher at Brown University Medical School. She says these activities at bedtime can zxxk get kids all excited and make it hard for them to calm down and sleep.Other experts say part of the problem is chemical.Changing levels of body chemicals called hormones not only make teenagers’bodies develop adult characteristics, but also make it hard for teenagers to fall asleep before11 pm.Because sleepiness is such a problem for teenagers, some school districts have decided to start high school classes later than they used to.Three years ago, schools in Edina,Minnesota, changed the start time from7:25am to8:30am.Students,parents and teachers are pleased with the results.5.What is the new National Sleep Foundation survey on?A.American kids’sleeping habits.B.Teenagers’sleep-related diseases.C.Activities to prevent sleeplessness.D.Learning problems and lack of sleep.6.How many hours of sleep do11-year-olds need every day?A.7hours.B.8hours.C.10hours.D.18hours.7.Why do teenagers go to sleep late according to Carskadon?A.They are affected by certain body chemicals.B.They tend to do things that excite them.C.They follow their parents’examples.D.They don’t need to go to school early.CFLORENCE,Italy—Svetlana Cojochru feels hurt. The Moldovan has lived here seven years as a caregiver to Italian kids and elderly, but in order to stay she’s had to prove her language skills by taking a test which requires her to write a postcard to an imaginary friend and answer a fictional job ad.Italy is the latest Western European country trying to control a growing immigrant(移民) population by demanding language skills in exchange for work permits,or in some cases, citizenship. Some immigrant advocates worry that as hard financial times make it more difficult for natives to keep jobs, such measures will become more a vehicle for intolerance than integration(融合).Others say it’s only natural that newcomers learn the language of their host nation, seeing it as a condition to ensure they can contribute to society.Other European countries laid down a similar requirement for immigrants, and some terms are even tougher. The governments argue that this will help foreigners better join the society and promote understanding across cultures.Italy, which has a much weaker tradition of immigration, has witnessed a sharp increase in immigration in recent years.In1990,immigrants numbered some1.14million out of Italy’s then 56.7million people,or about2percent.At the start of this year, foreigners living in Italy amounted to4.56million of a total population of60.6million,or7.5percent,with immigrants’children accounting for an ever larger percentage of births in Italy.Cojochru, the Moldovan caregiver, hoped obtaining permanent residence(居住权)would help her bring her two children to Italy;they live with her sister in Moldova, where salaries are among the lowest in Europe. She was skeptical that the language requirement would encourage integration.Italians always"see me as a foreigner,"an outsider, even though she’s stayed in the country for years and can speak the local language fluently, she said.8.Why does Cojochru have to take a language test?A.To continue to stay in Italy.B.To teach her children Italian.C.To find a better job in Italy.D.To better mix with the Italians.9.Some people worry that the new language requirement may____________.A.reduce Italy’s population quicklyB.cause conflicts among peopleC.lead to financial difficultiesD.put pressure on schools10.What do we know about Cojochru?A.She lives with her sister now in Italy.B.She enjoys learning the Italian language.C.She speaks Italian well enough for her job.D.She wishes to go back to her home country. How to Do Man-on-the-Street InterviewsThe man-on-the-street interview is an interview in which a reporter hits the streets with a cameraman to interview people on the spot.11.But with these tips, your first man-on-the-street interview experience can be easy. When your boss or professor sends you out to do man-on-the-street interviews for a story, think about the topic and develop a list of about ten general questions relating to it.For example,if your topic is about environmental problems in America, you might ask,“Why do you think environmental protection is important in America?”12.Hit the streets with confidence.13.Say,“Excuse me,I work for XYZ News, and I was wondering if you could share your opinion about this topic.”This is a quick way to get people to warm up to you.Move on to the next person if someone tells you she is not interested.Don’t get discouraged.14.Each interview that you get on the street shouldn’t be longer than ten minutes. As soon as you get the answer you need, move on to the next person.Make sure that as you go from interview to interview, you are getting a variety of answers. If everyone is giving you the same answer, you won’t be able to use it.A safe number of interviews to conduct is about six to ten.15.If your news station or school requires interviewees to sign release forms to appear on the air, don’t leave work without them.A.Limit your time.B.As you approach people,be polite.C.If you don’t own a camera, you can buy one.D.For new reporters, this can seem like a challenging task.E.To get How to Be CreativeMost of us think that creativity is a quality belonging only to artists, writers, or dancers, rather than ourselves. 5 The following tips are a great beginning for developing our creativity.1. Get out of your comfort zoneWe eagerly accept the familiar and fear the unknown. Break out of your usual patternsand welcome creativity into your life. As stated earlier, the human brain was designed to recognize patterns. 6 In fact, our comfort zone is nothing more than a collection of patterns. As we become more efficient at recognizing and using patterns, we rely less on creativity to find new paths. We should force ourselves out of our comfort zones and open up new possibilities.2. Try different thingsIf you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. We are creatures of habits and routines, and creativity hates routines. If you usually drive to work, take the subway for a few days. 7 Interrupt your routine, experiment and try something new. New things are often creative, but the same old thing never is.3. 8Having a great idea is not enough, you must work to make it a reality. Have you ever seen a new product and realized that you thought of the same thing long ago? Yet someone else is making money with “your” idea. 9 The difference between a dreamer and a doer is action. Do whatever it takes to bring your ideas to life. If you can put them into practice, you are well on your way to improving your creativity in all areas of your life.A. Take actionB. Seek several optionsC. Thi nk from the other person’s point of view.D. If you normally eat in the office, have lunch under a tree.E. The truth is that we are all born with the capacity to be creative.F. We continue to create patterns and routines for almost everything we do.G. We all have great ideas sometimes, but only a few people turn their ideas into reality.

中牟县第一高级中学2021-2021学年高一英语下学期第六次限时练试题第一卷第一局部:听力〔略〕第二局部:阅读理解〔一共两节,满分是40分〕第一节〔一共15小题;每一小题2分,满分是30分〕AWhen you eat out in a restaurant, it is not unusual to hear people yelling, “Let meget this one!〞 and sometimes see them pushing or arm wrestling(抢) to fight for the privilege(特权) of paying the bill. These fighters are often very loud and active. Each person involved shows an honest desire to pick up the bill, and in the end, all the people at the table givethe winner praise and gratitude. In fact, figuring out who will get the bill is always a headache for Chinese people at formal meals. Although the people hosting the meal are very likely to pay the check,it is a common practice to make a token(装样子的) effort to pay the bill, but you will embarrass them if you do end up actually chipping in some cash(凑钱).In recent years, going Dutch (AA 制) has been embraced by many young people. But older generations who fear “losing face〞 still find it embarrassing and stingy (小气的) to calculate each person’s share of the bill. As travel guide brand Lonely Planetnoted, it is considered “the height of unsophistication (不懂人情世故)〞.But these days, thanks to digital payment apps, splitting the bill electronicallyis becoming a widely-accepted idea. Even people from older generations may be temptedto do so.By scanning a QR code and paying the share via social networking tool WeChat and e-commerce app Alipay on their smartphones in one easy click, urban Chinese are finding it easier to save them the embarrassment of figuring out each person’s payment when they order a meal. This function “has made going Dutch less hassle (费事) and more fun in China〞, CNN noted.“Because of their convenience, many of us are never without our phones.〞 And person-to-person mobile payment services are incredibly easy to use and savethetrouble of dealing with change,〞 said 18-year-old student in China. “You can also leave funny notes using emoji (表情符号) like a bowl of rice or a cup of tea to describea meal that you have shared.〞21.What is the article mainly about?A.The Chinese tradition of dining out with friends.B.A new trend of splitting the bill in China.C.How social networking tools have influenced our daily lives.D.Why people in China argue over who pays the bill when dining out.22.Many Chinese people make a token effort to pay the bill because________.A.They don’t want to be considered unsophisticatedB.They want praise and gratitude from their friendsC.They consider it an honor to host the meal and pay the billD.They find it hard to work out how much each person needs to pay23.According to the article, what are the advantages of using digital payment apps tosplit the bill?a.T hey’re easier to use and more interesting.b.T hey save the trouble of dealing with change.c.T hey make it easier to figure out how much money each person had to pay.d.T hey make people less embarrassed to split the bill.A. a, bB. b. cC. a, b, dD. b, c, dBHave you ever made your life look a little more charming than it actually is by posting truths on social media? If so, you may be damaging your mental health. The posts we make on social media platforms allow us to look back and see what we did on a given day. But what happens when, in an effort to(企图) impress our online friends, photos and videos we post become beautified versions of the things we did?A young girl named Sophia went out to a romantic anniversary dinner with her boyfriend, had a near relationship-ending fight during dessert, then came home and posted, “Had the best time out with the love of my life!〞— even with a photo ofthe meal. No surprise, but according to a new study, Sophia was by no means unique. Two- thirds of users admit lying about their lives on social media with 20 percentof young people between the ages of 18 and 24 stating that they edit their own storiesby frequently lying about relationships and promotions(升职).By beautifying our online stories, we are harming our memories. We start believing the stories we tell rather than remembering what really happened. Soon, the real experience is lost and all that remains is the beautified version of history.Scientists fear that these edited stories will end up changing our memories. It’swell confirmed through research that our own memories are often unreliable and canbe easily controlled. Writing down one’s life in the form of a journal, or even on social media can help us keep our memories undamaged, but only if we tell the truth. So recording our experiences through whatever medium, to later recall lessons we learned, is not only acceptable but desirable. In fact, looking back at our own past- however embarrassing or uncomfortable - is not just healthy but can be enjoyable.24.Why did Sophia post her story with a photo of the meal?A.To make her post attractive.B.To show his photography skill.C.To convince others of her story.D.To show how enjoyable the meal was.25.In what kind of tone did the writer write the text?A. He also showed his habits at home and personal insights.Last February, Gates said he likes to do the dishes himself—to his own special standards every night and also told the interviewer that his wife, Melinda, would likely want Samuel L. Jackson to play her husband in a biopic(传记片).He also admittedthathe would pick up a $100 bill if he found it on the street. As he took the top spot on Forbes(福布斯) 28th Annual Billionaires list last year for the fourth time, he said he is pretty basic when it comes to spending on clothesand food, but that he enjoys investing in shoes and rackets(球拍) when he plays tennis. When asked a life lesson he had to learn the hard way, the billionaire said staying up too late is a habit he is still trying to break.
