Based on the assessment results, specific areas of improvement can be identified, guiding the development of the teaching plan.Goal Setting:Once the student's English proficiency level is determined, realistic and achievable goals should be set. These goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). For example, a goal could be improving speaking skills by successfully engaging in a ten-minute conversation on a specific topic within three months. Setting clear goals not only provides motivation but also helps track progress throughout the teaching program.Lesson Structure:Each one-on-one English teaching session should have a well-defined structure to ensure the effective utilization of time and resources. Vocabulary revision--describing a person
Instructor: Lv Yan
Teaching characteristics:
Lively, interactive, vivid and efficient. (LIVE)
Teaching objectives:
By the end of this period, the students will be able to:
1. use the vocabulary to describe a person;
2. know how to apply what they ’ve learnt to practice;
3. learn to be positive about life and grateful to people around them.
Thoughts on the design:

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Ask the students to recite the last two paragraphs in the passage My father, my hero to introduce the topic of this period.
设计意图:
My father, my hero 是一篇学生学过的描述人物的文章。

其中最后两段的人物描述写得很精彩,学生曾经背诵过。

因此,通过背诵这两段,引出本堂课的主题—描述人物。

Step 2 Presentation
Activity 1. Ask the students to describe Mrs. Liao. What is Mrs. Liao like?
Activity 2. Let the students read the words related to describing a person aloud.
设计意图:
通过学生对他们所熟悉的廖老师进行描述,让学生快速集中注意力,兴趣盎然地参与课堂,复习各种与描述人物有关的词汇或短语表达。

然后再让学生大声朗读刚才所复习的单词和表达,为下一步词汇的输出做好铺垫。

Activity1. Get the students to work in groups to work out a mind map to describe a person. Then go through the words and phrases in the mind map.
设计意图:
学生通过小组合作完成思维导图,对描述人物的词汇和表达进行了分类和归纳,有助于学生知识网络的条理化和系统化。

同时,小组活动也有利于培养学生的合作精神。

此外,通过对一些积极词汇的学习,帮助学生树立积极的人生观。

Activity2. Get the students to work in groups again to work out a second mind map and think of as many relevant words or phrases as possible. Remind them to pay attention to the changes of part of speech.
设计意图:
在这环节的教学中,我让学生通过再做一个思维导图,写出与qualities的有关的词汇和短语表达(包括近义词、反义词、词性转换和词形变化),进一步扩大了他们的词汇量,培养他们的创新精神和发散性思维。

Activity Fill in each blank with a proper word or the correct form of the given word. Then check up the answers with the whole class.

设计意图:
阅读填空是高考的一个重要题型,也是学生普遍觉得有难度的题型。

通过让学生把在先前的教学步骤中所学的词形变换和词性转换的技巧到运用在高考训练实践中去,有助于他们对所学知识的巩固,同时也增强了他们对学习英语的兴趣和学好英语的信心。

Step 5 Summary
