Walmart
BRIEF INTRODUCTIONWal-Mart is a company based in North America but has become the largest retailer and is larger than any other retail chain in the world. It is clear that Wal-Mart is growing and gaining international power at an alarming rate. Wal-Mart journey from humble beginnings in the 1960s as a folksy discount retailer in the boondocks of Arkansas to a global retailing juggernaut in 2008 was unprecedented among the company of the world: Sales were expected to exceed $400 billion in fiscal 2009. Wal-Mart provides general merchandise: family apparel, health & beauty aids, household needs, electronics, toys, fabrics, crafts, lawn & garden, jewelry and shoes. Also, the company runs a pharmacy department, Tire & Lube Express, and Photo processing center as well. There are also many secondary issues surrounding the Wal-Mart Corporation and its large growth. It is the largest retail company in the United States and has been ranked number one on the Fortune 500 Index by Fortune Magazine. Wal-Mart has four parts to their corporate strategy.1. Dominance in the Retail Market2. Expansion in the U.S. and International Markets3. Creation of Positive Brand and Company Recognition4. Branch Out into New Sectors of RetailIn recent years, Wal-Mart is very active in the market, as the world's largest multinational retailer‟s enterprises. There are more and more stores all over the world, more and more competitors at the same time, if the company wants to maintain their position in the international market, they need to make appropriate strategic transformation to adapt to the development of the international market, this way is useful for the enterprise to survive for a long time.In June 2008, Wal-Mart‟s CEO, H. Lee Scott, presented a glowing report to the est imated 16000 shareholders attending the company‟s annual shareholder meeting held at the 19,000-seat Bud Walton Arena on the University of Arkansas campus, located a few miles from Wal-Mart‟s headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas.SWOTSTRENGTHScale of operations. Wal-Mart is the largest retailer in the world .It makes Wal-Mart the giant that no other retailer can match. Due to such large scale of operations, the corporate can exercise strong buyer power on suppliers to reduce the prices. It can also achieve higher economies of scale than competitors because of its size. Higher economies of scale results in lower prices that are passed to consumers.Competence in information systems. The company has a core competence involving its use of information technology to support its international logistics system. For example, it can see how individual products are performing country-wide, store-by-store at a glance. IT also supports Wal-Mart's efficient procurement.Wide range of products. Wal-Mart can offer wider range of products than any other retailer. It sells grocery, entertainment, health and wellness, apparel and home related products among many other categories and offers both branded and own label goods. Wide range of products attracts more customers to Wal-Mart stores.Cost leadership strategy. This strategy has helped Wal-Mart to become the low cost leader in the retail market. The price of products is lower than supermarket in the around. Wal-Mart reduces the cost about some important meeting and facilities of leadership. The high-speed development of the enterprise. We can see Wal-Mart's net sales, net income and shareholders' equity is growing every year. It shows that in addition to solvency is relatively weak; other indicators have shown Wal-Mart powerful force. Wal-Mart's solvency is weak because it wants to global expansion, for such a high-speed development of business, I think it is acceptable.WEAKNESSWal-Mart…s low cost had resulted in substandard wages and insufficient medical benefits for employees. It has poor work conditions, low wages, unpaid overtime work and female discrimination. Because of this, the workers quality is low.Comparing with other competitors who have focused products, Wal-Mart has lower flexibility. It sells products across many sectors such as clothing, food and other departments. Due to product diversity, Wal-Mart exist competitive weakness.Wal-Mart has a bad image to consumer. Wal-Mart supports sustainable development, but it has more speak than action. On the other hand, awful employee benefit gives the world a bad image. In local branch store, senior executives are accrediting, it‟s contradictory strategyabout localization development. The lack of local mangers can cause culture difference. It is short of interactive management between firm and employees. From table two we can get a conclusion that Wal-Mart stores exist around the world. The big scale takes many problems and the big span in management will reduce controlling force. The table one shows that the Current Ratio is lower than 1.0 since 2004. The Wal-Mart has low ability to pay current liabilities. The Return on Assets came down every year. It proved that company has bad effects on utilization of assets. The Return on Shareholders‟ equity was also declined every year, owners‟ equity can make a profit in a weak level. Based on current assets and current liabilities, it has negative data from 2000-2008, it means Wal-Mart has finance problem.OPPORTUNITYOpenings to win market share from rivals. From example, Kmart, Target and Carrefour. Moreover, in the warehouse club segment the two largest competitors were Costco Wholesale and Sam‟s Clubs.Expanding into new geographic markets. Wal-Mart is expanding aggressively in Brazil and China. But Wal-Mart has not exploited this market fully. Wal-Mart should use localized strategy to open this market entirely.Acquiring rival firms or companies with attractive technological expertise or capabilities. By this approach, the Wal-Mart can decrease its fixed cost when it enters a new market.Falling trade barrier in attractive foreign markets.Online sales via the internet.Sharply rising buyer demand for the industry‟s product.THREATWal-Mart's leading position in the retail industry become the target of all competitors to catch upWal-Mart's global strategy may encounter political issues in operating country. The cost of a variety of consumer products tends to decline because of lower manufacturing costs. The main cause of lower manufacturing costs is to outsource production to low-cost regions of the world. This led to price competition, and caused deflation in some areas. Intense price competition is a threat. The company is operating under high financial risk because of blind expansion. As the result, the company will fall into a debt crisis and make chance for other competitors.Wal-Mart keeps a close relationship with a supplier and makes it difficult for other better suppliers to gain access to Wal-Mart‟s shelf place and consumers, creating a type of entry barrier for those suppliers.PROBLEM1.What is Wal-Mart‟s product choosing?Wal-Mart operates mainly in the choice of varieties of goods sold big, fast turnaround, buy more mid-range frequency of commodity-based, and moderate both high and low commodity combinations.2.Does Wal-Mart have problem about relationships of suppliers and customers?a)About supplies: Wal-Mart plays a god in front of the supplier by buying power. Wal-Mart keeps a close relationship with a supplier and makes it difficult for other better suppliers to gain access to Wal-Mart‟s shelf place and consumers, creating a type of entry barrier for those suppliers.b)About customer: Wal-Mart does some bad things which displease the customers. As example, dumped trash at a disposal site, closed a store as a reprisal against unionization, sold guns to violations, sold toy guns with an orange cap at the end of the barrel in New York without permission, ignored customers‟ suggestions and discrimination on female employees.3.What is the use of Acquisitions to expand into Foreign Markets forWal-Mart‟s?In recent years, Wal-Mart‟s entry into Cana da, Mexico, Brazil, Japan, Puerto Rico, China, Germany, South Korea, and Great Britain had been accomplished by acquiring existing general merchandise or supermarket chains.Wal-Mart‟s international stra te gy was to “remain local” in terms of the goods it merchandise, its use of local suppliers where feasible, and in some of the ways it operated.4.What‟s Wal-Mart‟s scientific method?Wal-Mart's leading efficient information system highly respected industry. With its own commercial satellites, Wal-Mart and easily achieve a global networked information systems. Internal and external information systems so that Wal-Mart can be in close contact with suppliers of goods exchanged daily sales, transportation and ordering information, to achieve store sales, ordering and delivery to keep pace.5.Can Wal-Mart improve salary system, management and HR human resource? The answer is affirmative. Wal-Mart has weak competitiveness in these aspects.a)Creating a work environment that enhances the quality of life for employees.b)Wal-Mart can use its IT advantaged to improve management and HR human resource to make closely connection between each store.c)Building a workforce that is diverse with respect to gender, race, national originand other aspects that different people bring to the workplace.6.How to care about protecting the environment and saving energy?a)Wal-Mart has a large number of employees; it can use these employees topromote environmental knowledge.b)Wal-Mart Improves packaging technology, not only can reduce costs, but also toprotect the environment.c)Because too many Wal-Mart stores in around the world,Wal-Mart's can use solarenergy, wind energy and waste oil for heating and cooling.7.Whether should Wal-Mart change its expansion strategy?Answer: In my opinion, the Wal-Mart should slow down its expansion pace. Reasons are as follows:a)The Wal-Mart should ensure the company operates honorably and ethically. InDecember 2005, Wal-Mart transported the materials from stores in California via a return center in Las Vegas before dumping them at a disposal site. This action is unethical.b)The Wal-Mart should conserving resources and sustaining the environment.Although the Wal-Mart has played out lots of environment-friendly policies but they do not put them into practice entirely.c)The Wal-Mart should pay more attention to well-being of employees rather thanexpand blindly. Recent years, the number of workers‟ complaints had grown.8.What is Wal-Mart‟s Price and Promotion strategy?a)Short-term pricing strategies:Loss leader pricing modelBuy more gifts and related purchaseIntegration programs and member ship programsLong-term pricing strategy:Low-cost strategyBe good at set prices-ending pricing strategiesb)Promotion StrategyPR promotions -Use public relations to communicate with the public, establish a good corporate image and reputationAdvertising - Compared with the sales promotion, personal selling, and other marketing tools such as public information, advertising and promotion with its unique position in the enterprise market marketing.Personal selling - Promotional staff through direct contact with customers, allowing consumers to understand the company's products, the establishment of the target audience better image of the enterprise products.。

电子竞技的发展简介英文版
电子竞技的发展简介英文版The Development of Electronic SportsElectronic sports, also known as eSports, have come a long way since their inception and have now become a global phenomenon. The rapid growth and popularity of eSports can be attributed to several factors, including advancements in technology, the increasing accessibility of gaming platforms, and the supportive community that has formed around it.The roots of eSports can be traced back to the 1970s when competitive gaming was first introduced through arcade games. However, it was the advent of the internet and multiplayer online games in the 1990s that laid the foundation for the modern eSports scene. With the ability to connect players from different parts of the world, online gaming provided a platform for competitive play and allowed for the emergence of organized tournaments. In the early 2000s, eSports started gaining recognition and began to attract sponsors and investors. The establishment of professional leagues and teams further propelled its growth. Tournaments such as the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL) and the World Cyber Games (WCG) became household names within the gaming community and drew large audiences both online and offline. One significant milestone in the development of eSports was the launch of the game "StarCraft II" by Blizzard Entertainment in 2010. This real-time strategy game developed a massive following, particularly in South Korea, where it became a national sport. The success of "StarCraft II" helped legitimize eSports as a popular andrespected form of competition, paving the way for further growth in the industry.Another pivotal moment for eSports was the rise of streaming platforms like Twitch and YouTube Gaming. These platforms allowed gamers to livestream their gameplay, connecting them with millions of viewers around the world. This direct interaction between players and fans created a unique and engaging experience, further fueling the growth of eSports. In recent years, the prize pools for eSports tournaments have skyrocketed, attracting attention and investment from major brands and celebrities. The largest eSports tournament to date, "The International" for the game "Dota 2," had a prize pool of over $30 million in 2019. This level of financial support has provided professional players with opportunities for career development and stability. The evolution of technology has also played a crucial role in the advancement of eSports. The introduction of high-speed internet, powerful gaming consoles, and mobile devices has made gaming more accessible and convenient. Additionally, the development of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies has opened up new possibilities for immersive gaming experiences, further expanding the potential of eSports. The global eSports community has become a supportive and inclusive space for gamers of all backgrounds. eSports has provided a platform for underrepresented groups, such as female gamers, to break into the industry and showcase their skills.Several organizations and initiatives have been launched to promote diversity and provide equal opportunities within the eSports community.Looking ahead, the future of eSports appears bright. Its popularity continues to grow, reaching new heights each year. Major sporting organizations have recognized the potential of eSports and have started investing in teams and tournaments. As the technology continues to advance, eSports will likely become more integrated into mainstream media and culture, further solidifying its position as a legitimate and respected form of competition. In conclusion, the development of eSports has been a remarkable journey. From humble beginnings to a global phenomenon, eSports has become a testament to the power of technology, community, and passion. Its continued growth and widespread acceptance have solidified its place in the world of competitive sports and entertainment. As the popularity of eSports continues to grow, it has started to gain recognition and acceptance from traditional sports organizations. Major sports leagues, such as the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the National Football League (NFL), have taken notice of the potential of eSports and have started to invest in teams and tournaments. The NBA was one of the first major sports leagues to enter the eSports arena. In 2015, the NBA partnered with Take-Two Interactive, the publisher of the popular basketball video game franchise "NBA 2K," to create the NBA 2K League. This professional eSports league features teams owned by NBA organizations and has become a successful venture, attracting adedicated fan base and lucrative sponsorship deals.Similarly, the NFL launched its own eSports competition called the Madden NFL Championship Series in 2016. This annual tournament features players competing in the popular football video game franchise "Madden NFL." The winners of the Madden NFL Championship Series have the opportunity to win cash prizes and gain recognition within the eSports community. The involvement of traditional sports organizations has brought increased visibility and legitimacy to eSports. It has also opened up opportunities for crossover between the worlds of eSports and traditional sports. For example, professional soccer teams such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have entered the eSports scene by acquiring eSports teams to represent them in tournaments and leagues. In addition to the support from traditional sports organizations, eSports has also attracted investment from celebrities and high-profile personalities. Many celebrities, such as Mark Cuban, Michael Jordan, and Drake, have invested in eSports teams or eSports-related companies. This influx of capital has helped propel the growth of eSports and attract even more attention from mainstream media. The media landscape has also played a significant role in the development of eSports. In recent years, major broadcasting networks have started to air eSports tournaments and competitions. ESPN, for example, has dedicated a section of its website to eSports coverage, and has even aired eSports events on itstelevision channels. This mainstream media coverage has helped expose eSports to a wider audience and has enabled more people to discover and engage with the world of competitive gaming.Furthermore, eSports has become a lucrative industry for advertisers and sponsors. With the increasing viewership and fanbase, eSports tournaments have become attractive platforms for brands looking to target a younger demographic. Sponsorship deals and brand partnerships have become a significant source of revenue for teams and players, further professionalizing the industry. However, with its growing popularity, eSports faces some challenges and criticisms. One concern is the potential for doping and cheating. In 2015, the Electronic Sports League (ESL), one of the largest eSports organizations, implemented drug-testing policies to combat the use of performance-enhancing drugs. Additionally, there have been instances of match-fixing scandals, which have raised questions about the integrity of eSports competitions.Another challenge for eSports is the need to address issues of inclusivity and diversity. While eSports has made progress in promoting gender equality and inclusivity, there is still work to be done. Female gamers, for example, are underrepresented in professional eSports and face barriers in breaking into the industry. Organizations and initiatives focused on promoting diversity and equal opportunities have been launched to address these issues and create a more inclusive environment within eSports.Looking to the future, the potential for growth in eSports seems limitless. Advances in technology, such as the development of 5G networks and cloud gaming, will further enhance the gaming experience and make eSports more accessible to a wider audience. The integration of virtual reality and augmented reality technologies will also provide new avenues for innovation and immersive gameplay.Additionally, the expansion of eSports into new regions and markets holds great promise. While South Korea and North America have traditionally been the dominant forces in eSports, countries like China, Brazil, and India are quickly catching up and contributing to the global eSports community. This global expansion will bring new talent, diverse perspectives, and increased competition to the eSports landscape. In conclusion, the development of eSports has been remarkable and its future looks bright. From its humble beginnings to a global phenomenon, eSports has gained recognition, acceptance, and investments from traditional sports organizations, media outlets, celebrities, and sponsors. However, challenges remain in terms of integrity, inclusivity, and diversity. With the continued advancement of technology and the expansion into new markets, eSports is poised to become an even bigger and more influential industry in the years to come.。
先富后教,礼乐治国作文
先富后教,礼乐治国作文英文回答:In my opinion, the concept of "先富后教" (wealth before education) is a controversial topic in today's society. On one hand, some argue that economic development should be the priority, as it can bring about social stability and prosperity. They believe that by focusing on economic growth first, a country can accumulate wealth and resources to invest in education later. This approach is often seenin developing countries where the government prioritizes infrastructure development and poverty alleviation before investing in education. However, I believe that "教育优先" (education first) is a more effective approach for long-term sustainable development. Education is the foundation of a prosperous society, as it equips individuals with knowledge, skills, and critical thinking abilities. By investing in education, a country can empower its citizens to contribute toeconomic growth and innovation. Education also plays a crucial role in reducing inequality and promoting social mobility. For instance, countries like Finland and South Korea have prioritized education and have achieved remarkable success in terms of academic achievements and economic growth. These countries have invested heavily in their education systems, ensuring equal access to quality education for all citizens. As a result, they have developed a highly skilled workforce and a culture that values lifelong learning.Furthermore, education is not just about academic knowledge. It also encompasses values, ethics, and character development. The concept of "礼乐治国" (governing a country through rituals and music) emphasizes the importance of cultivating moral virtues and a sense of social responsibility. By instilling these values in the younger generation, a country can foster a harmonious and cohesive society. In conclusion, while the idea of "先富后教" may seem appealing in terms of short-term economic gains, I firmly believe that "教育优先" is the key to long-term sustainable development. By investing in education, a country can empower its citizens, reduce inequality, and promote social cohesion. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about shaping individuals into responsible and ethical members of society.中文回答:在我看来,“先富后教”这个概念在当今社会是一个颇具争议的话题。

请求收购的好处英文作文
请求收购的好处英文作文The Benefits of Requesting an Acquisition。
In today's business world, mergers and acquisitions have become a common strategy for companies looking to expand their operations and increase their market share. Requesting an acquisition can be a beneficial move for a company, as it can lead to increased revenue, improved efficiency, and access to new markets and technologies. One of the main benefits of requesting an acquisition is the potential for increased revenue. By acquiring another company, a business can gain access to its customer base, products, and services, which can lead to increased sales and profits. Additionally, the combined resources of the two companies can lead to cost savings and increased efficiency, which can further boost the bottom line.Another advantage of requesting an acquisition is the opportunity to expand into new markets. By acquiring acompany that operates in a different region or industry, a business can gain access to new customers and markets, which can help to diversify its revenue streams and reduce its reliance on any one market or product. In addition to these financial benefits, requesting an acquisition can also provide access to new technologies and expertise. By acquiring a company with a strong research and development department, a business can gain access to new innovations and technologies that can help it to stay ahead of the competition. Similarly, by acquiring a company with expertise in a particular area, a business can improve its own capabilities and knowledge, which can lead to improved performance and increased competitiveness.Of course, requesting an acquisition is not without its risks. There is always the possibility that the acquisition will not go as planned, and that the two companies will struggle to integrate their operations and cultures. Additionally, the cost of acquiring another company can be significant, and it may take some time for the benefits of the acquisition to be realized.Despite these risks, however, the potential benefits of requesting an acquisition are significant. By carefully evaluating the potential targets and developing a clear strategy for integration, a business can unlock new opportunities for growth and success. As such, requesting an acquisition can be a powerful tool for companies looking to stay competitive and achieve long-term success.。
收购亚洲娱乐英文作文
收购亚洲娱乐英文作文Title: Acquisition of Asian Entertainment Companies。
In recent years, the entertainment industry in Asia has experienced a significant surge in growth and popularity, drawing attention from global investors seeking to capitalize on this booming market. One strategy that has been increasingly employed by international corporations is the acquisition of Asian entertainment companies. This essay will delve into the reasons behind this trend, the potential benefits and challenges associated with such acquisitions, and considerations for successful integration post-acquisition.First and foremost, one of the primary motivations driving the acquisition of Asian entertainment companies is access to a rapidly expanding consumer base. With the rise of middle-class populations and increasing discretionary spending in countries like China, India, South Korea, and Japan, there is a growing appetite for diverseentertainment content ranging from films and television shows to music and gaming. By acquiring established players in these markets, foreign companies can gain instant access to millions of consumers and established distribution networks, thereby bypassing the challenges of building a brand from scratch in a foreign market.Furthermore, acquiring Asian entertainment companies allows foreign investors to tap into local expertise and talent pools. Many Asian entertainment firms have deep-rooted connections within their respective industries, possessing valuable insights into local consumer preferences, cultural nuances, and regulatory frameworks. By leveraging the existing infrastructure and talent base of these companies, foreign investors can accelerate their market penetration efforts and enhance the quality and relevance of their content offerings.Additionally, acquisitions offer opportunities for synergies and economies of scale. By consolidating operations and sharing resources across geographies, companies can streamline their production processes, reducecosts, and improve profitability. For example, a foreign film studio that acquires a Chinese production house may benefit from lower production costs, access to state-of-the-art facilities, and preferential treatment in securing distribution rights within the Chinese market.Despite the potential benefits, however, there are also significant challenges associated with acquiring Asian entertainment companies. One such challenge is cultural differences and regulatory hurdles. Each country in Asia has its own unique cultural norms, business practices, and regulatory requirements, which can complicate the integration process and strain relationships between the acquirer and the acquired company. Moreover, government regulations pertaining to foreign ownership, content censorship, and intellectual property rights can pose legal and operational challenges for foreign investors.Another challenge is the risk of cultural clashes and talent retention issues. Mergers and acquisitions often result in organizational restructuring and changes in leadership, which can create uncertainty and anxiety amongemployees. Furthermore, differences in corporate culture and management style between the acquirer and the acquired company can lead to conflicts and hinder collaboration. Retaining key talent post-acquisition is crucial for maintaining business continuity and sustaining competitive advantage in the long run.To navigate these challenges successfully, it is imperative for acquirers to conduct thorough due diligence, develop a comprehensive integration strategy, and foster open communication and trust with the acquired company's management and employees. This may involve retaining key executives, providing cultural sensitivity training, and establishing clear channels for feedback and conflict resolution. Additionally, acquirers should strive to preserve the unique identity and creative autonomy of the acquired company while leveraging synergies to drive growth and innovation. In conclusion, the acquisition of Asian entertainment companies presents exciting opportunities for foreign investors to capitalize on the region's vibrant and rapidlygrowing market. By gaining access to a large consumer base, local expertise, and economies of scale, companies can enhance their competitive position and expand their global footprint. However, successful acquisitions require careful planning, execution, and a deep understanding of the cultural and regulatory landscape in Asia. With the right strategy and approach, acquisitions can be a win-win for both the acquirer and the acquired company, driving value creation and sustainable growth in the dynamic Asian entertainment industry.。

Samplea better replyDear buyer:It is good to hear from you again. You inquired about my bamboo baskets on September 15,1998.I sent you a company catalog at that time.I can send you a second catalog if you need? Acquiring a Company in South Korea
Chapman Auto Parts manufactures a variety of aftermarket parts and accessories for distribution throughout the United States and Asia. While they have been successful in meeting the demand for parts in the past, they are seeing increased demand from parts of their Asian market. The company’s executive team has been exploring expansion opportunities and has determined that acquiring another manufacturer in Asia is the best strategy to meet the growing demand.
Aftermarket parts are built or refurbished to replace damaged or worn parts in cars and trucks. Accessories are parts sold directly to new car dealerships that are installed in new vehicles after the original sale. These parts provide optional features to customize a vehicle by enhancing comfort or convenience. Chapman distributes its parts to wholesalers who then resell the parts directly to retail outlets and new car dealerships. Chapman currently operates two facilities on the West coast of the United States. Through these locations, they have been able to establish an effective distribution network via railways to various locations in the United States, and via ship to several Asian ports. However, a manufacturer located in Asia will greatly enhance distribution capabilities.
The executive team has identified a small manufacturer in South Korea that currently produces similar parts to Chapman. The South Korean company has much lower overhead costs and the team believes that acquiring the company will help improve the distribution of their product and allow Chapman to continue to grow their business. There are several aspects of the potential acquisition they must explore before deciding to move forward. As their first venture into international operations, the labor market is one aspect that requires significant consideration.
To help build an understanding of the labor practices in South Korea, the executive team has asked Janie Lang, the Director of Human Resources, to conduct research and prepare a report for the executive team. They are particularly concerned with labor costs and legal concerns of operating in South Korea. Janie has little international human resources management experience, so begins her research by exploring the basics of the South Korean labor market.
1.Are there any advantages from a labor standpoint to purchasing the South Korean facility?
2.What is some important information about employment practices in South Korea that the
executive team should be aware of?。
