类似的词有:decide, hope, want, wish, would like, plan, learn等。

辨析:find与look forfind: 意为“找到”,强调的是找的结果,是一个短暂性的动作。
Look for: 意为“寻找”,强调的是寻找的动作或过程,是延续性的动作。
例:I’m looking for my bag, but I can’t find it.我正在寻找我的包,但是还没有找到。

stand在此处用作动词,意为“忍受,容忍”,常与can或could连用。
can’t stand意为“无法忍受”,can’t stand (sb.) doing sth.意为“无法忍受(某人)做某事”。
练习: 翻译句子I can’t stand my mother. She’s always talking.__________________________________________注意:stand表示“忍受”时不用于现在进行时。
四、I like to follow the story and see what happens next.我喜欢跟随故事情节,看接下来发生什么。
happen是不及物动词,意为“发生”,强调事情的发生具有偶然性、突发性。
它常用于以下结构:(1)sth. happen to sb./sth. 意为“某人/某物发生某事”。
Eg: A car accident happened to Lucy last Monday.上周一露西发生了车祸。
What happened to your coat? It’s wet.你的外套怎么了?它全湿了。
(2)sth. happen+地点/时间,意为“某人/某物发生某事”。
Eg: A serious traffic accident happened in Chang’an Street last Monday.上周一长安街发生了一起严重的交通事故。
(3)sb. happened to do sth.意为“某人碰巧做某事”。
Eg: I happened to meet Jenny in the park. 我碰巧在公园碰到了詹妮。
(4)It happens that+从句,意为“碰巧……”。
当that 从句中的主语为人时,可转化为sb. happen to do sth. 结构.Eg: It happens that I know him. =I happen to know him.碰巧我认识他。

expect 作动词,意为“预料;期待”,常用于expect to do sth.(预料/期待做某事)和expect sb. to do sth.(期望某人做某事)结构,expect后还可以接that 从句,表示“预料/期待……”Eg: Sally expects to come to China to learn Chinese.萨利希望来中国学习汉语。
My parents expect me to get high marks in the final examination.我父母期望我期末考试能得高分。
