学情分析:
1. 学生为高一年级,掌握了对简短英语文章阅读的能力,但是高中英语阅读文章较长,为了做好初中和高中阶段的衔接,应该降低问题设计难度,让学生能够跟上课堂教学环节。
2.在第一单元中学生已经掌握了如何找到文章段落的主旨句,在本节课中可以进行巩固训练,并且进一步培养学生的段落概括能力和议论文结构分析能力。
3. 本板块的话题为“亲子矛盾冲突”,与学生日常生活联系密切,所以在课堂中要多联系学生的实际问题,帮助学生解决问题,培养积极的人生态度。
I. Learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students will be able to; 1. grasp the theme and the structure of the article; 2. analyze the causes of parent-child tensions; 3. adopt the practical solutions to improve parent-child relationship; 4. infer the author's attitude towards the parent-child tensions; 5. build a positive attitude towards the adolescent stage of one’s life.
II. Teaching key and difficult points 1. Analyze the structure of an argumentative writing; 2. Improve students’ abilities to analyze problems;
3. Connect students’ own experiences to the reading.
III. Teaching procedures
Step 1: Lead-in (5mins) Self-introduction: I am your English teacher today and I am also a psychologist who set up a Psychological Growth Club in our school. Yesterday, I received a message from a girl. She said she encountered a difficulty. Let watch the video she sent to me to see
what happened to her. Watch a video. What happened in the video I am very busy these days, so I need some volunteers to join my club to help me. So, today’s class is a training plan for volunteers. If you can finish the training activities, you can join our club and get a letter of appointment(聘书). Activity 1Follow me to learn a passage about the parent-child tension. (Take some notes.)Activity 2Give suggestions to your others to help them improve their parent-child relationship.

Step 3: Global reading(5mins) 1. Read and find the topic sentence of each paragraph. (Individual work ) Para. 1: Heated arguments and cold silences are common between teenagers and their parents. Para. 2: Teenagers’ physical changes may result in such family tensions. Para. 3: It
can be a big headache to balance your developing mental needs too. Para. 4: Although sometimes it may seem impossible to get along as a family, you can take action to improve the situation. Para. 5: Just remember that it is completely normal to struggle with the stress that parent-child tensions create, and that you and your parents can work together to improve your relationship. 2. Step 4: Careful reading (20mins) 1. Read paragraph 1 and answer the following questions. (Individual work ) Q1. Help classmates improve the parent-child relationship Ask students to write down their problems with their parents and collect all the problems in a box. Students can work with their partners.
