Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756 in Salzburg. He was the son of a musician. His father, Leopold, recognising the boy’s musical talent at an early age, decided to take him on performing tours throughout Europe so that he could experience a wide range of musical styles and cultural influences. By the age of 16, Mozart had visited England, Italy, France and Germany, meeting many important musical and political figures at that time. He had three operas performed in Milan. It was the sort of education he could never have gained if he had just stayed in Salzburg. Throughout the 1770s, Mozart was a member of the Salzburg orchestra. Despite many opera commissions (委托),his compositional activities were mainly directed towards the court. Growing depression with his position led him to try his luck in Paris in 1777. But the trip brought only disappointment, so within a few months he was back in Salzburg. A breakthrough came, however, when a commission from Munich led to his first great opera, I do meneo(1781). It is a work into which he poured all of the musical experience he had gained so far. Then followed three of his greatest operatic masterpieces —The Marriage of Figaro(1786), Don Giovanni(1787) and CosìFan Tutte(1790). But when he became old, his popularity became weaker and he found himself seriously in debt. He died in December 1791, and was buried in an unmarked grave.

According to a Harris Poll (哈理斯调查), nearly 60 percent of Americans have seriously tried to lose weight without success. The diet industry has put out endless products and weight-loss systems. Once we stop using them, we go right back to our old ways of over-eating. What’s more, these methods are often unsafe and unnatural and go against our natural appetite (食欲).Dr. Alan Hirsch, an inventor and researcher in the area of smell and taste, is active in healthy weight-loss products. He began studying the theory of hunger and appetite. Hirsch found that patients who had lost their sense of smell gained 10 to 30 pounds. He imagined that if loss of a sense of smell resulted in weight gain, then increasing the sense of smell would help to cause weight loss. To test his idea, he created some crystals that you can sprinkle (喷
洒) on everything you eat to control hunger without changing the taste or quality of the food. The crystals use your sense of smell to tell your body that you’ve eaten more than you actually have eaten, so they prevent you from eating too much. "With these crystals, you can eat all the food that satisfies your senses," Hirsch says. "They help you to eat less but gain a greater feeling of satisfaction." Over 25 years, Hirsch tested more than 4,000 different kinds of crystals. 1,436 users lost an average of 30.5 pounds with the crystals in just 6 months, without having to do any exercise or diet. The most weight lost by an individual was 120 pounds in 6 months. It seems to be a natural way to lose weight: eat what you want, when you want.

B. Weight gain causes one’s loss o f a sense of smell.
C. The better one’s sense of smell is, the more weight one can lose.
D. One’s sense of smell has nothing to do with one’s weight.
73. According to the passage, what is TRUE about the crystals?
A. They make food more attractive.
B. They make food tastier.
C. They make you feel less hungry.
D. They improve the quality of food.
74. When you are using the crystals, you ______.
A. eat more than usual

第一节阅读表达(共5小题;每小题3分,满分15分)阅读下面短文并回答问题(请注意问题后的词数要求)。

Music has been embedded (嵌入) in life for many many years. It sinks into the arts and cultures, finds expression in language, and has a great effect on lifestyles. The origin of music dates back to the earliest of civilisations, so it is difficult to know the exact date when it started.
Both vocal and instrumental music can be viewed as a form of language or speech. There seems to be something in human beings that give them the ability to understand and respond to music naturally.
Music is known to have many positive effects on its listeners. In fact, a growing branch (分支) in medicine called "Music Therapy" has been rapidly developing in recent years. This therapy claims to speed up the recovery process of patients. Listening to relaxing or encouraging music can help speed up the process of recovery for most patients, though this effect is largely dependent on the patient’s response to it.
Aside from music’s health benefits, music also helps to improve people’s creativity. It allows people to get their creative juices flowing. To most artists, listening to music can help them achieve a certain creativity that they would not be able to do simply on their own.
Music also has an effect on a person’s performance of a task, since it can change the mood and give inspiration to the listener.
Generally, the effect of music has usually been more on the positive side than the negative. So ___________, and your performance level s will increase!

写作(One possible version)
Many students like listening to music while they are studying, but many parents insist that listening to music while studying may have a negative effect.
I think that the parents’idea is right. First, students tend to follow the rhythm of the music and sing one or two lines of lyrics, which can distract them from studying. Second, students are always calm when they are studying, but when they listen to music,
especially rock music, they become excited, which affects their studies. Therefore, I don’t think that listening to music while studying is a g o od idea.

W: Hi, Dr. Smith. People always say, "Eating an apple every day keeps the doctor away." But is healthy living really that simple?
M: Well, I can’t answer your question in one sentence. I h ave several tips for healthy living. First, the most important thing of all to stay healthy is eating a balanced diet. Remember, eating a balanced diet doesn’t mean giving up the food you love. It means choosing lower fat food more often. Remember that vitamins produced by chemicals are not as good for the health as the vitamins we get from natural food. Second, a good night’s sleep is necessary for good health. Do not eat too much before going to bed, or else it will affect your sleep. Third, daily exercise is very important. You should take at least 30 minutes of exercise each day, such as walking for 10 minutes and playing tennis for 20 minutes a day. And stay away from cigarettes and don’t drink too much. Finally, take some time every day to do something you enjoy, whether it’s reading a good book, gardening or just talking to a friend. A good mood really
helps a lot. Remember, good health means good living.。
