13、Sports, drama, and all kinds of organizations keep students busy during high school. Where do they get the money to do these things? Not everyone gets it from parents. Most have to work for at least some of the money to pay for these activities. Some adults question if high school students should have jobs. I say yes, they undoubtedly should.
Some people worry that teens with after-school jobs will have difficulty finding time for schoolwork. Actually, having a job helps teens make better use of their time. Many jobs take only a couple of hours on weeknights. According to an article, 86 percent of high school students have an after-school, weekend or summer job and students who work between 10 and 20 hours per week during the school year get higher grades than those who do not work at all. Instead of considering working after school ahindrance, it should be looked at as real-world education.
Other people think that work adds too much stress(压力), which may be somewhat true, but whether having a job or not, there is always stress. Better to learn how to deal with busy schedules(日程表)in a controlled environment like high school than to be out on your own and alone in the future, experiencing stress for the first time. I personally would be worried about the teenager who has to become independent without having any experience of working.
The biggest reason teens should work is that it is a healthy way of making money. There are many things teens need to pay for and they cannot do it if they don’t have a job. Not all parents can pay for these activities. My dad told me, “Having a job is a good way to save up for things you are going to need or want to do. You get a lot more out of things if you pay for them yourself.” The sooner kids make money, the sooner they can learn how to use money wisely. If they are not allowed to work in high school, they may have a hard time in the future. Teens should, without a doubt, be allowed to work on school nights.
1.The word“hindrance” in Paragraph 2 probably means “_______”.
A.something that encourages teens to study

3.Which of the following is true according to the passage?
A.Working makes teens get lower grades.
B.Working teaches teens to spend money more wisely.

16、April 22 is Earth Day. Everyone on earth should care about and protect the earth!
The earth has warmed by about l℉(华氏度) over the past 100 years, but why and how? Well, scientists are not quite sure. Maybe the earth gets warmer and warmer on its own. But many scientists say that people are doing many things which makes the earth warmer.
First, greenhouse effect (温室效应) is a very important reason for the change of the earth. People give out too much energy into the air every year. It makes the earth warmer. Climate (气候) change is another important reason. Sometimes it becomes too hot and sometimes too cold. Sometimes there is too much rain and sometimes too little. The change of the climate makes the earth warmer. In turn, the warmth of the earth changes the climate, too.
When the earth becomes warmer, there may be more rain and a rise in sea level. It will affect the growth of plants, animals and people. On a Pacific island, 100 people have to move to higher ground because the sea is rising. These people can no longer live on the coast. Before that, two islands without people went underwater in 1999. Scientists say that the seas can rise by nearly one metre by 2100.

19、Ms. Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the US, visited The Second High School Attached to Beijing Normal University on March, 2014. To our surprise, quite a lot of e-pals began to argue with each other about the school uniforms they were wearing.
Some e-pals agree to wear uniforms at school. First, school uniforms are good for students to take part in different activities, especially sports. Second, school uniforms are cheaper, and they can save our parents’ money a lot. The most important thing is that students don’t have to waste time to think what they should wear every day. It is good for their study.
But some e-pals say that their school uniforms are too ugly. They have simple colors, and they are always too big for students.
In my opinion, I agree to wear school uniforms at school. But we should improve the quality of the school uniforms. Only in this way would more and more students like to wear school uniforms at school in the future.。
