Step one -- Reading Skills(30’)
1.Guessing unknown words—understanding word formation and using contextual clues:
1)在阅读的过程中遇到不认识的单词是很常见的一种现象,因此猜测陌生单词的含义在英语阅读中是一种重要的能力。
学生既可以在已有的基础之上通过构词法,即单词的字根、前缀后缀以及合成词来推导新单词的含义,还可以通过上下文的提示来得出陌生单词的含义。

2)阅读技巧Scanning是“扫描”,但具体到阅读中,大家最熟悉的莫过于查词典时。
在有意识地去查某个生词的时候,我们不会去把它所在的页上每一个字都看一遍才找到想要的。
几乎眼睛对词典中的一页扫一下,脑中只有要找的字,看到它,其他的地方都像没有看到一样。
在阅读中,scanning的技巧在回答问题时,根据题干中问到的内容,在文章中scan,可以帮助考生准确地定位,找到答案。

Task I: answer the questions (P. 27)

2. Score each answer with a 3, 2, 1 or 0. If your answer is “always”, give yourself 3 points. If your answer is “usually”, give yourself 2 points. If your answer is “occasionally”, give yourself 1 point. If your answer is “rarely” or “never”, give yourself a 0 score.
3. Open answers.
4. Great! People probably enjoy working with you, and you can almost certainly give a few pointers about workplace relationships to others.
5. Don’t despair! “People skills,” like other skills, can be learned with practice. Make an honest attempt to start now!
