When we think of paper, we think of newspapers and books. But there are many other uses. Only half of the world's paper is used for books and newspapers.
Paper is very good for keeping you warm. You have perhaps seen homeless men asleep on a large number of newspapers. In Finland, it is sometimes -40℃ in winter. The farmers wear paper boots(靴子) in the snow. Nothing could be warmer.
Each year, more and more things are made of paper. We have had paper cups and plates for a long time. But now we hear that chairs, tables, and even beds can be made of paper. With paper boots and shoes, you can wear paper hats, paper dresses, and paper raincoats. When you have used them once, you throw them away and buy new ones.
The latest use of paper seems to be paper houses. These are not small houses for children to play in, but real, big houses for people to live in. You can buy a house with three rooms for about 500 dollars. You can put it up by yourself in a few hours, and you can use it for about five years.

The greatest saleswoman in the world today doesn't mind if you call her a girl. That's because Makita Andrews made more than $80,000 by selling cookies(饼干) when she was 13 years old.
Andrews and her mother shared a dream of traveling around the world. Once, while reading a magazine, Andrews found that the person who sold the most cookies would win a free trip for two around the world. She decided to give it a try.
To make her dream come true, Andrews went door to door every day after school and repeated, "Hi, I have a dream. I'm earning(赢取) a trip around the world for my morn and me by selling cookies." Then she asked, "Would you like to buy one or two dozen boxes of cookies?"
Andrews kept asking for a whole year, no matter how heavily it was raining or snowing outside. Her hard work paid off. She sold 42,000 boxes of cookies that year and she won her trip around the world.
Andrews is not smarter than thousands of other people. The key to her success is that she has found the secret of selling. Ask! Ask! Ask! Many people fail before they even begin because they fail to ask for what they want.
It takes courage to ask for what you want. And, as Andrews has discovered, the more you ask, the easier and more fun it gets.

The difference between Mark and other climbers is that he lost both his legs when climbing New Zealand's highest mountain, Mount Cook. 六、读写综合
(一)阅读短文,回答问题(共5小题;共10分)
Is it difficult for you to remember things? I'd like to tell you some ways to improve your memory, so you shouldn't feel upset.
My first advice is that if you want to remember something well, you have to review it regularly(有规律地). You might review the material two days after you learn it, then a week later,
then two weeks later, and then a month later. After a month you will find that you can easily remember the material.
My second advice is to use a colored pen to highlight(标注) the important parts on your book. This will help you in two days. First, it will help you pay attention to the most important parts when you learn the language. It is always easier to remember only the key points. Second, this will make reviewing easier. When you open your book, the colored parts will show you the most important things quickly. In this way, you don't have to review all the material again.
Another piece of advice is to use the proper time well. First, review all the information in your mind right before you go to sleep. Your brain is working while you are sleeping. If you think about the information before you go to sleep, you might be able to remember it better. Another good time for memorizing information is in the morning because you have just rested and your brain is fresh and clear. So you might also try to review the important information in the morning.
根据短文内容,完成下列小题。

1. How long may it take you to remember the material easily if you review it regularly?
2. Is it easier to use a colored pen to help remember the key points?
3. What is the good time to review information?
4. How many pieces of advice does the writer give?
5. What is the passage mainly about?
