Bicycles are very popular around the world today. People ride their bicycles for exercise and enjoyment.
In some places, people use a bicycle to get to work. But who invented the first bicycle?
In 1791, a Frenchman named Sovran invented and owned the first bicycle. Mrs. Sovran rode the bicycle in Paris. The handles and the seat were wooden. And the front wheel is much large than the black one. This bicycle was very difficult to move. You had to pick up the front wheel to change direction. Finally, the bicycle had no brakes to stop it or pedals for the feet!
In 1817, a German named Sauerbrun made the first bicycle better. The seat became
more comfortable. The wheel could change direction. His ride in the forest took only one hour instead
of three hours on foot!

One day, Gulliver was caught in a storm and his ship hit a rock, then damaged. He was washed to the beach by sea wave. He walked and walked to find a city, but he was too tired and felt asleep. When he woke up, he found himself in Lilliput and a lot of tiny people were around him)
The Emperor spoke in a high voice but I could hear all the words clearly. His followers and all the ladies wore rich and beautiful clothes. The ground where they were standing looked like gold and silver cloth.
His Majesty and I often spoke to each other but neither of us understood a single word. I tried words from many languages—Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and Latin. No one could understand my words, not even the cleverest of the Emperor’s followers.
After about two hours the Emperor left. His wife, children and their servants went also. There were strong guards around me. This was to stop the crowd of people from hurting me.
An officer told the guards to hold six men who made me angry. These men were given to me and I had to choose their punishment. I put five of them in my pocket. Then I pretended(假装) to eat the sixth man.
The poor man screamed terribly. The guards were worried when they saw my knife in my hand. Was I going to cut up the man? But I only cut the binding(捆绑物) round his hands. Then I put him on his feet and let him go. I lifted the other five men out of my pocket and put them gently on the ground too.
The people and the soldiers were very pleased with my great kindness. They told the Emperor about it immediately. Emperor ordered his men to make a bed for me and they had to join six hundred of their little beds together to make one bed for me.
At the same time the Emperor asked all his advisers for their advice on how to deal with. They were very worried. If my binding was cut I might be dangerous. I was eating so much food that soon all the people would be very hungry. The farmers could not grow enough food to feed all of us.

(D) Living and dealing with kids can be a hard job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even harder. If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, whether you agree or not. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are
feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you will be away from them. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn't solve anything. Communication begins with the concerns (关心) of another. It means that you can't just come home from school, go up to your room and take no notice to anyone. Even you just say "Hi". It is better than nothing.
If you looked up the word "communication" in a dictionary, it would say"the exchange of ideas, the conveyance (表达) of information, the way of communicating: a letter or a message". To keep a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it's just by writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you'll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse.
Here is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn't tell her parents before going. That was rude.
She was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first. But after Sophie explained why she was late, they weren ’t as mad and let it go.
Communication is the key here. If sophie’s parents didn’t want to listen to her, sophie would be in a lot of trouble. Communication isn’t a one-way matter but both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation
like Sophie's, telling the other person how you feel-listening is the key factor to communication.
41.how does the writer feel about dealing with parents?.
A. difficult
B. easy
C. interesting
D. mad
42, what's the meaning of communication?
A; the exchange of ideas.
B; the conveyance of information.
C, the ways of communicating,
D, all the above
43.What does the example in paragraph 4 show?
A: Sophie is very polite to her parents.
b. Sophie’s parents don't want to miss her.
C; Sophie should communicate with her parents better.
D Sophie did well in communicating with her parents
44. Which of the following statements is not true?
A, communication is a two-way matter
B, It's better to say hi to others than say nothing.
C: When dealing with parents, you only need to listen to them.
D: If you do agree with others, you'd better let them know
45. What’s the best title of the article?
