Learning Objectives:
1. To introduce and reinforce vocabulary related to family members.
2. To develop listening and speaking skills.
3. To practice sentence formation using possessive pronouns. Materials:
- Flashcards with pictures of family members
- Worksheet with sentences using possessive pronouns
- Whiteboard and markers
Procedure:
1. Warm-up (5 minutes)
- Greet the students and review the names of family members. Ask them to share who is in their family and how they are related
(e.g., mother, father, brother, sister).
2. Vocabulary Introduction (10 minutes)
- Introduce new vocabulary words: mother, father, brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather.
- Show flashcards with pictures of each family member and elicit the corresponding vocabulary words from the students.
- Repeat the words and encourage students to repeat after you. 3. Listening Activity (10 minutes)
- Play an audio recording that describes different family members (e.g., "He is my father. She is my sister.").
- As the recording plays, show the corresponding flashcards to help students identify the family members being mentioned.
- Pause after each sentence to give students time to process the information.
- Repeat the audio recording if necessary.
4. Speaking Activity (10 minutes)
- Divide the students into pairs or small groups.
- Give each group a set of flashcards with pictures of family members.
- In turns, students should ask and answer questions about their family members using the sentence structure "Is he/she your [family member]?" and "Yes, he/she is my [family member]."
- Circulate around the room, monitoring and assisting the students as needed.
5. Sentence Formation Practice (10 minutes)
- Distribute the worksheet with sentences using possessive pronouns.
- Instruct the students to complete the sentences by choosing the correct possessive pronoun from the options provided (e.g., his, her, their, etc.).
- After completing the worksheet, go through the answers
together as a class, discussing why each possessive pronoun is the correct choice.
6. Wrap-up (5 minutes)
- Review the vocabulary words and sentence structure learned in the lesson.
- Have a quick recap by asking questions like "Who is your father?" or "Who is her sister?" and have the students respond using the possessive pronouns.
- Thank the students for their participation and effort. Assessment:
- Observations during the speaking activity and sentence formation practice.
- Verbal responses during the listening activity.
- Completion of the worksheet with correct answers.。
