促进心智发展，提高综合人文素养。

进一步强调素质教育思想，明确提出英语课程的双重属性，即工具性与人文性。

强调以“能力”为主线，重视研究过程、思维能力以及交流与合作的能力。

反映时代精神，合理吸收社会发展和科技进步的新成果。

合理设计教学内容，科学控制课程容量，减轻学生研究负担。

修订内容包括：调整教材的容量，调整话题，更加贴近学生生活并更富有时代感，精心设计阅读板块，加强阅读能力培养，增强写作的过程性和指导性，合理编排语法项目、丰富语法研究活动，改进自我检测板块，培养学生的总结和归纳能力。

在教材编排方面的变化包括：适当减少教学内容，使教学内容难度推进更加合理，调整部分单元顺序，合理安排各册教学容量。

具体来说，起始阶段适当降低难度，让学生较好的完成从小学到初中阶段的平稳过渡。

减少七年级上册单元数量，将原七年级上册15个单元(包括预备篇)减少到12个单元。

考
虑到话题和语言研究内容的衔接，将原教材第九单元删除，将第十、十一单元移至七年级下册。

调整部分单元顺序，修订后的教材将原七年级上册第二单元(unit 3 this is my sister.)和第三
单元(unit 2 is this your pencil?)顺序对调。
