一、v.-ing 情势作状语的句法功能 1.作时间状语(相当于一个时间状语从句) Hearing the knock on the door,they stopped talking. =When they heard the knock on the door,they
stopped talking. 听到有人在敲门,他们停止了谈话。

4.作方式状语 He died a glorious death,fighting the enemy for the
people. 他为了人民同敌人搏斗,光荣牺牲了。
作产生在主句谓语动词的动作之前,并且只能作状语,表
示时间或原因(一样式表示 v.-ing 情势的动作与谓语动词 的动作同时产生)。
Having lived in Beijing for years,I almost know every place quite well.在北京住过量年,我几乎对每个地方都很熟悉。 (having lived 作状语,表示原因,live 的动作产生在 know 动作之前)

四、少部分 v.-ing 情势可以充当独立成分,这时句子 主语与其无任何语法关系,不要误认为 v.-ing 情势作语。 常见的这样的 v.-ing 情势(短语)有:

v.-ing 情势作状语 v.-ing 情势作状语时,其逻辑主语必须和主句的主 语一致,即句子主语为 v.-ing 情势表示的动作的实行者, 二者为逻辑上的主谓关系。v.-ing 情势作状语可以表示时 间、原因、相伴、方式以及结果等。一样情形下,作时间 或原因状语,位于句子前面;作相伴、方式或结果状语时, 位于句子后面。
Having worked for three hours,he took a rest.
工作了三个小时之后,他休息了一下。(having worked 作状 语,表示时间,work 动作产生在 take a rest 动作之前)
三、v.-ing 情势的否定式:not+v.-ing;not having+v.-ed Not knowing this,he didn’t come. 他不知道这件事,所以没来。 Not having made full preparations,we put off the sports
