摘要：The invention relates to an optical detection device (12) for detecting objects (14) and to a method for operating such a detection device. The detection device (12) comprises at least one transmission device (16) for emitting light pulses (18a, 18b), at least one receiver (20a, 20b), by means of which the light pulses (18a, 18b) can be received, and at least one control and analysis device (22) for controlling the at least one transmission device (16) and the at least one receiver (20a, 20b) and for analyzing light pulses (18a, 18b) received by the at least one receiver (20a, 20b). The at least one transmission device (16) has a light-emitting first semiconductor element (24a) which has a blocking direction and a pass-through direction with respect to an electric voltage, said first semiconductor element (24a) emitting light (18a) in the pass-through direction of the element when an electric voltage is applied, and at least one light-emitting second semiconductor element (24b) which has a blocking direction and a pass-through direction with respect to an electric voltage, said second semiconductor element (24b) emitting light (18b) in the pass-through direction of the element when an electric voltage is
applied. The first semiconductor element (24a) and the at least one second semiconductor element (24b) are switched in parallel with respect to the electric voltage and oppositely with respect to the blocking directions of the semiconductor elements. At least one second semiconductor element (24b) is part of a functional testing device (34) of the detection device (12).
